Dreamweaver CS3 Freezing on Uploading Files

Has anyone ever have this problem of Dreamweaver CS3 freezing
when uploading a file or multiple files to the remote server?
Mine just started doing that and it's nearly impossible to
work in that condition, I have to force quit everytime I uploaded a
file.
Anyone has a solution to that?
I really appreciate any suggestions and tips! Thanks!

  • Dreamweaver CS3 no longer opens files

    Greetings,
I am not sure where to post this, so I will post here - already have a question open on the Dreamweaver forums.
I have run into an unusual problem. I can no longer open files either on my local machine or remote server without Dreamweaver CS3 freezing. I am using OS X Leopard - 10.5.2 on an Intel MacBook Pro. A week or so ago I was able to open my .asp files just fine. Now, Dreamweaver simply freezes when I try and open them - either locally or remotely. I tried deleted the preferences file and removing site information from Manage Sites with no luck. I can create and open new files, but cannot open the existing files.
I copied the files in question to a PC and opened them just fine using Dreamweaver 8.02. I just don't know enough about the technical aspects to properly troubleshoot this problem. I already tried reinstalling also.
By the way, I am able to access, open and edit my files from the remote server using my PC and version 8.02.
    Any ideas?

It seems this is a known issue with Dreamweaver. I was able to access the files just fine by deselecting "display external links" in the view menu. Strange that I did not have to do this before.
For anyone interested, here are some links about this: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=12&catid=18 9&threadid=1262486&highlight_key=y&keyword1=design%20mode and http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401608&sliceId=1

  • URGENT: Dreamweaver CS3 crashes while uploading any PHP File

    Hello,
My Dreamweaver CS3 crashes everytime I try to upload any PHP
file to the Web Server. It does upload the file but crashes and you
received a "Not Responding" error in the Windows title bar. I did
search alot on this issue until I found the ".
    Dreamweaver
CS3 crashes after DST ends" problem. I deleted the cache file
as required but of NO HELP.
. It is very annoying to restart Dreamweaver
everytime you want to upload any PHP file to the Web Server after
editing it. It doesn't happen with any other types of files. Please
help me guys here or I will lose my mind.

    Bad news for you too.
First, you are not addressing Adobe here in the user forums.
Secondly, Adobe does not support CS3 any longer because it hasn't been sold for years.
Therefore, you're left to the good will of fellow users who volunteer their time here free of charge, if one of them has a solution to your issue.  No one is under any obligation to reply, so ask nicely.
One thing I can tell you is that you have not applied any of the versions available for Photoshop.  Unfortunately, the Adobe auto updater was an unmitigated piece of cr@p in any version prior to CS6.  Do not rely on it to assume you are up to date just because it doesn't show any updates available to you under Help > Updates.
You need to look for the downloads and apply them manually yourself.
I can't offer any more assistance because I don't do Windows.  Sorry.

  • SWF problem in Dreamweaver CS3 and strange Script file

Hi folks, I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and tried to upload a
SWF file today. The SWF includes three buttons, one for video,
another for audio and one for text. Before loading up to DW all
three parts played fine. But when I uploaded to DW and my site, the
video fails to play. A Script file, and another file downloaded I
am not sure what I am supposed to do with this script file. The
script file is called The audio and text part works fine, but the
video will not play. I am not sure why this is, but when I uploaded
the file to Dreamweaver there was a Script file called
AC_RunActiveContent.js that automatically downloaded along with a
    file called .htaccess
The other file is called called .htaccess
I uploaded both files to my server, but that did not help the
video play. I tried pasting the AC_RunActiveContent.js code into my
page and uploading, but that did not help the video play either; I
just got code at the bottom of my page.
I have viewed the page in Mozilla, IE7 and Flock, but still I
    cannot play the video.
Does anyone have any idea how to make the video play in
Dreamweaver; what I am supposed to do with these two code files?
For those interested in the AC_RunActiveContent.js code, I
will post below. Please try to explain simply because I am not so
    tech savvy.
    I thank you all.
    Mary

I have managed to fathom it out.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Freezes on Mouseclick!

Okay, I've looked into this problem for over two hours and am
very disappointed in the development team at Adobe. I have tried a
number of things to try and fix the problem, but nothing works!
I open a .php file in code view in DW, and when I select a
block of text, then release the mouse button, DW freezes up
completely. It's rediculous. What were the developers thinking?
"When mouse button release, freeze application?" How can there be
any logic in an event handler for the mouse when I am just editing
text. How difficult is it to design a TEXT editing application that
doesn't crash. C'mon Adobe, get with it.
Anyways, I've tried to delete the site cache, didn't work. I
tried to delete the WinCacheFile which is related to some daylight
savings time bug--which is rediculous in the first place. I even
tried reinstalling / repairing the Dreamweaver CS3 installation
from my MasterCollection DVD set. That didn't help either!
What in the world is causing DW to freeze up? What can I do
to effectively "reset" DW beyond what I have already tried doing.
Does anybody know about the registry keys I can set to make sure it
doesn't occurr?? How can an application developer or designer sleep
well at night knowing they made a tool that costs a good deal of
money, yet does not work properly. It's a damn text editor!
My whole day has been spent making this application run . . .
Please, if you have experienced this problem, or know how to
fix. I need to hear from you.
Thank you for your time and help,
    Laz

The lack of answers probably means no one has experienced
    exactly the
same problem as you. I know your experience must be
    incredibly
frustrating, but Adobe didn't deliberately create a program
    that would
freeze on a mouse click. CS3 was released nearly two years
    ago, and is
used by millions of people every day without encountering the
    same
    problem as yours.
The difficulty is identifying what causes the problem in your
    case. I
have suggested a possible solution in reply to you in the
    "Dreamweaver
CS3 crashing" thread. It's a long shot, but it might work.

freezes...... my months worth work is at stake... what's wrong..
and how can i get this fixed?
BTW i even reinstalled Dreamweaver from the original disk but

  • Dreamweaver CS3 freezes when add new site section

I've been having this problem since I installed my
Dreamweaver CS3. It just freezes right up whenever I try to click
the 'new site' button or the 'edit site' button while in 'Manage
    sites' section.
It freezes up for about 30 seconds before it lets me in.
After that it's fine it's just very annoying to have to wait 30
seconds each and ever time I find a new file extension to add to
the cloaked list of file extensions.
I have 5 websites as sites and so anytime I add cloaked file
types I waste two and a half minutes.
Please help me, very much appreciated any response at all.

OK - where is your local site? On a remote, shared network

Also, what is it you're doing? Adding a new file extension to

  • Dreamweaver CS3 hangs on "initializing files" in Windows Vista Home Premium

    Hi,
Anybody else encountering this issue? I noticed this7 error

  • Can someone with Dreamweaver cs3 open a cs5 file?

    Hi:
Work just upgraded me to DreamWeaver CS5 but I work on files that I share with another web author and they have DreamWeaver CS3.  If I edit a file and save it in DreamWeaver 5, will the other author be able to open the file in DreamWeaver CS3?  I have not loaded my new software at work yet because I was afraid there might be a problem.    This is our work intranet so I need to be careful I don't screw the site up. We save our files with the extension .shtml.
    Thanks
    Jeff

Yes, provided you use DW's Check In/Check Out feature so that you don't overwrite each other's work.
There are no proprietary file formats like Microsoft Office.
HTML code is HTML code and can be read by any human being or text editor.
The only caveats are if you use emerging technologies such as HTML5. CS5 can handle that but CS3 will struggle.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Crashing on XML files

I've been having this problem for quite a while now...
Basically whenever I try to open any XML files on our
webserver, there is a very good chance DW will crash. These files
are our framework's configuration files, so they need to be opened
and edited quite often, so this crashing problem is very annoying.
I haven't done enough testing to know for sure if the problem
is specific to only certain files (there are about 20 of them), but
I know for sure that I have only see the issue when opening one of
the XML files. They are all stored in the same directory.
I have already tried deleting the sitecache folder. I opened
DW, it rebuilt the cache, and then crashed again when I tried to
    open the file.
I have also completely reinstalled Dreamweaver, and even the
operating system. BTW this is a faily new iMac with OSX on
    it.

    You are fast!

  • Dreamweaver CS3 freezing when clicking EDIT site button

Whenever I click on the NEW SITE button or EDIT SITE button
in the site manager, my dreamweaver freezes up for like 20 seconds.
Everything else works fine. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
happens on both of my computers at home, one of them runs an
antivirus scanner and the other does not. Does anyone know what
    causes this horrible delay?

You'll find the cache folder in the Files Window - There is a
small icon at the top right side - select it and choose site from
the Drop down menu. Select the Advanced tag and local Site and at
the bottom there is a box called Cache. Make sure there is no tick

  • Dreamweaver CS3 freezes when "Display Styles" is on

Hi guys, I hope you can help me here. Recently I changed computers and am now experiencing this problem with all the webpages I work with. When I open a page, everything seems fine until I click in either the code view or design view, then it freezes with no error message. I then have to close the program through the task manager.
If I go to View > Style Rendering, then turn off Display Styles, then everything works great, but it just doesn't looke right. When I turn it back on it freezes again.
I think that this has something to do with the CSS files, but I don't know much about this. If it helps to see the pages, they are at www.iscatech.com.
    Thank you in advance.

    Brett,
Hi guys, I hope you can help me here. Recently I changed computers and am now experiencing this problem with all the webpages I work with. When I open a page, everything seems fine until I click in either the code view or design view, then it freezes with no error message. I then have to close the program through the task manager.

I think that this has something to do with the CSS files, but I don't know much about this. If it helps to see the pages, they are at www.iscatech.com.
I looked at your web page. First of all there is some duplicated markup in the <head>. That's probably not your problem, but your page will load faster and more predictably if you clean that up.
I opened StyleSheet.css. It has a set of styles that are duplicated 39 (not a typo: thirty nine) times! Have you waited to see if DW eventually loads your page? It could just be taking it a long time to process that 147KB file. Try removing the duplicate styles.
    I don't have CS3 anymore, but I can open it in CS4.
With that said, it's still possible that you may have a style (or combination of styles) that is causing CS3 to hang. Try using the binary process of elimination to isolate the CSS rules. In other words:
    1. Comment out half of your existing styles
    2. Restart DW
    3. If it hangs, go to step #1
    4. If it does not hang, continue
    5. Un-comment half of the styles you commented out in the previous iteration
    6. Go to Step #2
Repeat until you have it isolated to the minimum number of rules.

    Randy

  • Dreamweaver stuck in endless upload/file transfer when check-in enabled

I'm currently working on a site for a client that has 206 pages and some 2870 files in total (including images, PDFs and some .mp3 and .wav files).
The client works on the site in Contribute. This is a site I initially created 5 years ago - I'm doing a massive update for them (new templates, new CSS etc.) After I'd done some of the updates, I turned on check-in/check-out and re-checked the Contribute compatibility checkbox etc. in Manage Sites.
DW started marking the files as checked out (or locked, if I hadn't downloaded them recently) etc. - as I would expect it to do.
Except it kept doing it - for hours and hours. I couldn't do very much while it was doing this - everything in the menus became almost non-responsive, and I certainly couldn't check pages locally (I have MAMP installed - the pages have some PHP)
I finally let it run over night.
It was STILL transferring files in the morning! I started watching the FTP window - and it would appear that certain blocks of files were being transferred over and over.
I finally just hit "disconnect from remote host" - and have had to do that anywhere from 5-10 times before it actually breaks the connection.
Every time I reconnect to the server, it starts all over again - it will just keep transferring files forever. It keeps doing this, even though almost all the files are marked as checked out, or checked in/locked. I say "almost" - there are some it just never seems to get to. I've tried changing FTP settings (passive/not), tried deleting all the remote settings and then putting them in again. I tried deleting the _mm folder off the server in case it was corrupt. Nothing worked.
I finally just turned off check in/check out and that is the only thing that stops this behavior.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this so I can I get my work done and have my clients up and running again on Contribute? I haven't tried dumping .plists yet, and have also considered just taking everything off the server and re-uploading the entire site.

    Thanks, Elizabeth.
I had been putting the updated pages for the site in a Test folder, but since I've now got 150 of the 206 pages on the new template (and the remainder are in an archive section of the site - one of my clients is a bit of a squirrel ) and the school year began 2 days ago, they were eager to get the new version of the site up and running, so it was all uploaded on Monday night. (It's a public school organization - SpEd and Enrichment services for a chunk of northeastern MA)
For the time being, until I get a little farther, I'll leave check-in disabled, then before I re-enable it, I'll clean off the remote server and start fresh. And cross my fingers. I'll let you know how that works out, just in case anyone else runs into the same issue.
If anyone has any further suggestions or experience with this sort of odd behavior, let me know.
