Dreamweaver cs3 hyperlink help.

Hi. I've been using dreamweaver for quite some time now. Not long ago i stumbled upon the spry menu bar and i am now wondering if there is a permanent attachment of hyperlinks to a page. I have a website with about 20 pages, and going through all of them and linking each other would be a very tedious task. So is there a way to connect all the links on one page and then replicate that to all the other pages?

I like to use server-side includes for site wide menus, headers and footers.
http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/server_side_includes.asp
Some people like to use DW Templates to create their site pages.   If you use a Template.dwt, you can put your site wide menu and other common page elements into it and they will appear on all child pages created from that Template file.
http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/dreamweaver_template.asp#1
DIFFERENCES:
SSI works on the server.  Edit one file, upload and you're done. Your hosting provider needs to support the use of includes in either .shtml,  .asp or .php pages.
DW Templates only work in Dreamweaver sites.  And you must re-publish all child pages after editing your Template.dwt file.

  • How do I create a guestbook in Dreamweaver CS3, Plz Help....

Hi I want to create a guestbook in dreamweaver cs3 my website is www.freewebzs.com
Also it would be brilliant if you guys could help me and recommend me background colours, is there a free website I can get background colours from?
And also what fonts and colours are most popular for websites.
Im new to dreamweaver as ive just started using it so any advice would be great, thanks

I have to agree with David, if you are new to DW, then creating a guest book will be difficult for you.  However, you don't have to re-invent the wheel, there are many guestbook scripts available to save you the time and certainly the headaches  :-)
Take a look here for a selection:  http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Guestbooks/
    As for colours kuler is good, but you can also look at;
    These palettes may help:

For fonts, you are better staying with web-safe fonts that will ensure cross browser compatibility:

  • Can't create new sites in Dreamweaver CS3.  Help!

I am trying to create a new site in Dreamweaver CS3 but keep
    getting the following error:
"The action cannot be completed because the other program is
    busy.
Choose 'Switch to' to activate the program and correct the
    problem"
I have tried every documented solution on the adobe website
and other discussion forums and still cannot get past the problem.
I have restarted the IIS server on my local PC as documented
    on the following adobe technote:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_16485&sliceId=2
    Other things I have done:
    1. I have followed all the advice in the links at the bottom
    of the above page.
    2. I have created a new user, logged into that and tried
creating a site with a "virgin" environment
and I still have the problem.
    3. I have gone into the registry and renamed the site
configuration info in case something was corrupted.
This removed all my site configurations. No help!
    4. I have turned of my firewall and restarted the IIS
    server.
    5. I have searched the web for anything even remotely
similar to this error and tried every tip out there.
I called Adobe and they referred me back to the technote
above, which I had already tried.
One last bit of info. I can't create new sites, but I can
edit web pages in my existing sites. However, I cannot change the
configuration of the website in the Manage Sites area (i.e. I can't
    push the Edit button).
Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be appreciated. I
have hit a brick wall on this one and am trying to meet a deadline
on a new website I need to create.
If I can't find a solution quick, I will be an
ex-Dreamweaver user. That saddens me because I really like
Dreamweaver, but I have to perform on my job.

    And are you running Skype?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crashes HELP!

I'm working on a project in DreamweaverCS3 using Coldfusion
    7.0.2.
I have a page that has some drop down menus that are
populated via a coldfusion query. When I click on the
<cfselect> statement line (I need to edit this one value to
fix the page), Dreamweaver CS3 crashes.
I have never seen this before ever. Has anyone else seen this
type of thing with there CS3?
The other thing I completely hate about Dreamweaver is when i
preview an HTML page in a browser window and sometimes when I go
back and forth between the browser and Dreamweaver, I won't be able
to save the file because I get a sharing violation error. So i have
to either wait a few minutes before i can save for some reason or I
have to shut down the browser.
I used to use Homesite and i always, always could preview in
a new browser window, make edits, and refresh the page. Life was
good. This disrupts my workflow and i think Adobe should consider
changing how Dreamweaver handles files in CS4 and hopefully do away
with this bug. Its extremely annoying and slows me down.
What sucks is i spend all of this money on CS3 Web Premium
and now i have to use wordpad to edit this file so i can move
    on!

  • Dreamweaver CS3 - template help

I am unable to get my website to fit in the middle of the

Not sure why your posts are coming in multiple lots - your last message came in three times.
Onto your colour problem.  this is a personal opinion of course, but currently, the burgandy text behind the green in your header is very difficult to read.  The added white dropshadow doesn't enhance the text, only makes it hard to read.
I would possibly make the header box white so that your logo and tagline stand out a lot more than they do.  I would use the green/burgandy combination only as accents in your layout.  Maybe a burgandy navigation bar, and use a solid green for the footer with which text.  I would likely thrown in some blue or grey, both mix well with burgandy  :-)

  • Unable to uninstall Dreamweaver cs3

Ive been trying for 2 days now to uninstall it.
I had done a system restore on my (WINDOWS) PC because of
some problems I started having, and Dreamweaver CS3 stopped
working. Its a trial version downloaded from here.
    Ive read here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402004
But none of that helps, or applies to me.
When I click on the dreamweaver.exe file in
    programs->Adobe-> dreamweaver cs3, it says:
    quote:
"you cannot use the product at this time. You must repair the
problem by uninstalling then reinstalling this product or by
contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for
    help."
When I try running the installer file again, it says:
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is already installed. To remove or
modify this software please use it's original installer.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Cannot be installed because it
    conflicts with:
    Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Please help me. I just want to get it off my PC now and im
    VERY frustrated.

I doubt that this is going to work.

Never used CF Studio or HomeSite so I don't know how they
worked. Perhaps you can explain more about what you're actually
    like to have happen.
There is the CF8 updater extension for Dreamweaver (for CS3
    and CS4):
    http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads.html
Which adds a new menu item on the Help menu which goes to:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/coldfusion/
Adobe is moving toward online help, but they tend to have
PDFs available of their docs which the above link offers.

  • PLEASE HELP - Problem with 2 column fixed template in Dreamweaver CS3

I am trying to create a website using the 2 column fixed, right sidebar, header and footer html template in Dreamweaver CS3.  I tried putting a picture in the right side bar as well as with in the main content or left portion of the page, and neither picture is showing up when I view it in any of the browsers I'm using.
I've made some minor changes in colors and sizing, but other than that no other changes.  The pic I put in for the header is showing up just fine though.
Any help or advice to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!

Here is the base Dreamweaver code including the pic references that I'm trying to show on either side - when the browser opens, it only shows a blank space where the pics should be... let me know what you think.  Thanks!!

  • Help inserting js into dreamweaver cs3

I have been using MS Publisher (yeah I know) to design my web pages but now I am slowly learning Dreamweaver CS3. I am redoing a site within which I have used some forms created with Coffeecup Webform Bilder. It took me a bit to figure out how to insert the js code in DW but I got it working.  However, the next day when I went to create another page with another CCWFB form I followed the same steps and the form would not work. THEN I went and checked the form from the day before and it was no longer working. I keep seeing "FORM OBJECT" rather than the form. Please help!
    This is a Linux server.
Here is what I have done.
Uploaded all supporting files with CCWFB to the same folder that the web page is located. Also used DW to upload the files just on a lark and no joy.
Double and triple and quadruple checked that the files were in the correct directory. Even loaded them in to other directories just reaching for a solution. No joy.  Also tried testing locally with all supporting files in the same local directory with the same "FORM OBJECT" result.
Inserted the code below that was created with CCWFB into DW via the insert script option.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script><div id="CC6725558">Form Object</div><script type="text/javascript">var so = new SWFObject("msps_application_formdw.swf", "msps_application_formdw.xml", "548", "500", "7,0,0,0", "#ffffff");so.addParam("classid", "clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000");so.addParam("quality", "high");so.addParam("scale", "noscale");so.addParam("salign", "lt");so.addParam("FlashVars", "xmlfile=msps_application_formdw.xml&w=548&h=500");so.write("CC6725558");</script>
Created a CSS that positions the object at the bottom of the page. I have eliminated this step in previous attempts with the same results. Not sure why it would matter really but I have been grasping at straws for two days now.
As mentioned the results are that I get "FORM OBJECT" on the web page rather than the form. It acts like the files are not where they should be. I must be doing something stupid and just don't remember really how I had it working.
    The page is www.mdperfusion.com/joinmsps.html
The script is in the code and the form should be at the bottom of the page.
On another odd note, when I insert PayPal code using noscript it works locally but not when on the server????  Could there be a common factor...other than then noob user ... in these two problems.  Everything elese works perfectly.
Thank you for your help in advance!
    Jim

So here is my code for the page.  Maybe this would help determine why the form is not showing.  The script code is at the bottom of the page.
    Thanks again for looking.

  • Need help creating a simple form in Dreamweaver CS3!!

I'm trying to create a form in Dreamweaver CS3, and while I have the form built I'm confused as to how to make it actually function.  What I'm trying to do is create a form that when the visitor clicks submit, the data is emailed to me.  Can someone help me figure out how to accomplish this?
    Thanks so much!

Ute's answer is spot on - you need a FormMail script to process the form.  Check with your host (or via the control panel) and see if they supply such a form for free.
If not, google for "formail script' and you'll find quite a few available - all free to use.
You just need to add a couple of lines to your html code, change a few things in the formmail script and the form will process.  Sounds complicated but most scripts come with a help file to help you get off the ground.

  • Help on Starting Dreamweaver CS3...

    Dear webmates:
I have been working with CS3 so happy because of the new
features like Spry, etc. However, suddenly one day (without no
change, because I only reseted my PC) appeared some messges as I
open any fil in DW CS3, messages like these:
"The following translators were not loaded due to errors:"
    Date.htm
    PHP_MySQL.htm
    Spry.htm
    XLST.htm
XLST Transform.htm : has configuration that is invalid.
What can I do ? please help me with this.

    On a Windows machine, it's called WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat,
    although
the sequence of letters and numbers after the hyphen might be
    different.
    On a Mac, I think it's called MacFileCache-AD76BB20.dat.
It's located in your user's configuration folder. For
    example, on
Windows XP, it's at C:\Documents and
    Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration, where
    <username> is your username.

  • Dreamweaver CS3- Add this button code help

Hi, I have a problem in Dreamweaver CS3. The problem is that when I insert my add this button code, in to the codeing area, it does not work.
When I open my page in chrome, it simply says 'more shraeing services'. I will copy the code, in to this discussion. I would be greaftful if someone
can help me resolve this problem, so I can get the add this button to work on my site. The final bits of code are as follows-
    <!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->
    <div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style addthis_32x32_style">
    <a class="addthis_button_preferred_1"></a>

    </body>
    </html>
Is there anything in this piece of code I should edit in order to make the add this button work? Many thanks

A link to your page would be the best possible way to get help with this.
Code fragments don't tell the whole story.
