Dreamweaver CS3 in Vista 64 and Windows 7

I am running Dreamweaver CS3 on Vista 64 and Windows 7 Pro for about 2 months now.
When I go to set up a new Site Definition and select a Local root folder, I find I have to go down an extra directory in order to get Dreamweaver to select the directory I want as root. (example: have to select the image directory).
Windows 7 is out officially now, I wonder if this problem has been fix in CS4, and how CS4 preforms on Windows 7.
I have been hodling off upgrading to CS4 for a year now, since Adobe has not make any statements about Windows 7 support.  If adobe has release some statements, can someone point me to the statement?
What is the possible release schedule for CS5, I am thinking May 2010?

That's as good as anyone else's guess.
CS: Sep 2003
CS2: April 2005 (19 months)
CS3: April 2007 (24 months)
CS4: Oct 2008 (19 months)
CS5:  May 2010 would be 19 months - but only Adobe knows the real date.

  • Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only Boots to a black screen with a mouse cursor

Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only Boots to  a black screen with a mouse cursor after I installed Mcafee Internet Security.
Hi I installed 1of 3 McAfee Internet Security protections on my HP laptop a few weeks ago with no issues. I Have a Dell XPS 420 desk top with Windows Vista operating
system, it’s never had any issues, until 2 nights ago I installed McAfee Internet Security (detected incompatible files and will remove) pc now only boots up to a black screen with a mouse cursor, it will show the windows logo and a hash symbol floating around
the screen. Now 2 weeks ago I installed the same program on my Dell all in one desk top with Windows 7, the same issue happen but that pc has no screen activity, I tried a back to factory reboot on this one, still black screen.

    Hi,
Please install the compatible version of McAfee Internet Security:
    http://home.mcafee.com/store/internet-security
if you have startup issue, you can boot into Safe Mode to uninstall the problematic software to go back into Windows.

  • Deskjet 710/720/810/820/1000 Series printers - Patch for 64 bit Vista and Windows 7

There is an issue with the 64 bit Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 or 8.1 drivers that causes the spooler to crash with the following HP Deskjet printers:
    Deskjet 710
    Deskjet 712
    Deskjet 720
    Deskjet 722
    Deskjet 810
    Deskjet 812
    Deskjet 820
    Deskjet 822
    Deskjet 1000
The attached file contains a patch for this issue for Vista and Windows 7.
[The patch does not currently work for Windows 8 or 8.1 x64 systems.  There are some efforts to address this, if a solution is developed it will be posted here.  {Edit - I have not made any progress in getting the patch to work in Windows 8 x64.}]
First make sure the driver for the printer is installed.  If the driver has not been installed go to Start, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, Local Printer, choose the proper port (for USB-Parallel converters the port will likely be USB001: or perhaps USB002: ), Next, click Windows Update then choose HP for the manufacturer and select the appropriate printer.
Apply the patch as follows: Log into the computer with an administrative account.  Download the patch by clicking on this link or on the paper clip at the end of this post.  Save the patch file to your computer, then unzip it.  Next copy the three DLL files to the following directory:  %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3
Note that %windir% is a system variable that points to the location of the Windows directory. For most systems this will be C:\Windows.  You can click Start, Computer and type %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 in the address bar and it will find the right place.
This can be done from a DOS prompt if DOS is opened with the "run as administrator" command, or from explorer with a copy and paste.  Depending on your UAC settings you may need to provide confirmation.  Also allow the current files to be overwritten if prompted.
This patch is not required and should not applied to a 32 bit version of Vista or Windows 7.
Thanks to extraordinary Microsoft engineer Alan Morris for guidance for the patch.
Update - the following are more detailed installation instructions:
Download the patch from here. Now click on the file and open it, then extract the patch to some directory that is easy to find. (I use c:\temp. If this directory does not exist you can create it as follows: open the administrative DOS prompt by clicking on Start, All Programs, Accessories, then right click on CMD.EXE and select Run as Administrator. Click in the DOS box then type the following:
    MD c:\temp
    CD \temp
Now extract the patch files into the c:\temp directory (extract all, chose c:\temp as the destination).
[Update - Windows security settings may prevent these files from being used, please open Computer, type c:\temp in the address bar and then right click on each of the dll files and select Properties.  If there is a message in Properties indicating the file was downloaded from the internet and may be blocked then unblock the file before proceeding.]
Next click back in the administrative DOS prompt and type the following: (stuff in green is comments, do not type them...)
DIR *.dll (this is just to verify the files are there, it should list hpvdb720.dll, hpvdb820.dll and hpwm5db1.dll and perhaps others.)
Net stop spooler (makes sure the files are not in use.)
Copy  hpvdb720.dll  C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this is for the Deskjet 710/712/720/722)
Copy  hpvdb820.dll  c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this covers the Deskjet 820 and 822)
    Copy  hpwm5db1.dll  c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3(this covers the Deskjet 1000)
    Net Start Spooler
    Exit
[Edit - note that these DLL files will already be in the directory.  You will get a warning asking if it is OK to overwrite the files, say "yes".]
At this point the patch is installed and ready to print.
Note that the printers here do not support USB connections, they have only parallel ports. [Edit - if your printer does have a parallel port use it, this will likely be much less problematic than using a USB-Parallel converter.]   If you use a USB-parallel converter make sure it is supported in your operating system.  The following posts are flagged with USB-parallel cables that are reported to work in Windows 7.   A driver is required for the USB-parallel converter in addition to the driver for the printer.  For supported converters this is typically supplied automatically in Windows 7.  Note:  the proper port to select for the USB-Parallel converters is often USB001:.  I have heard of some cases where the port was USB002: or LPT3: as well.  If the port you are using does not succeed (after applying the patch) try changing the port by going to Start, Devices and Printers, right click on your printer and select Printer Properties, then click on the Ports tab.

  • Cannot install Dreamweaver CS3 on Vista

I'm running a desktop PC with Windows Vista Premium. I had
Dreamweaver 8 installed and want to upgrade to Dreamweaver CS3. So
I uninstalled Dreamweaver 8 and ran the setup for CS3. After the
setup extracted all he necessary setup files I saw a message saying
"initializing setup" and then...nothing. Setup just quit. I tried
several times. I've never installed any of the CS3 beta
versions...but I ran the CS3 cleanup anyway. No luck. Searched the
registry for any extra Dreamweaver entries. Nothing. The only Adobe
software I have installed is Acrobat 8 Pro and Photoshop CS2. Just
can't get Dreamweaver CS3 to install. Any ideas?

    See if this helps:

  • DW CS3 for Vista and Mac OS compatibility

    Hi
I use Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows Vista. I also have a Mac OS
laptop. I am thinking of Running the MAc version of Dreamweaver on
the Laptop. Would the files between the two systems be
    interchangeable.
In other words, if I created a site on the Vista machine
would I be able to edit it on the Mac and vise versa.
    Thanks

HTML is HTML. There is no platform specificity in it. You
    should have no
problem. I routinely work in the same site on the same files
    on either Mac
    or PC.

  • Printing from CS3 under Vista to Windows 2003 server print que very slow

I just upgraded one of my machines to vista with CS3. I normally print to a windows 2003 server print spool que. When I go to print it takes forever to pull up my different printers and then go to properties. On my XP machines there is no problem, I can select the print que, go into properties for my printer and it works fine. Something with Vista, CS3 and WIndows 2003 server?
    Thanks

Im curious about your 802.1x issues are. Im testing user profiles VS login window profiles for 802.1x on our Cisco wi-fi LAN right now, and I'm scratching my head on how the login window profile is actually supposed to work. Its a chicken-and-the-egg situation for me. I cant use user login window profiles, I have to use user profiles, which don't work very well in my environment for various reasons. Granted, it has improved since 10.5.3, but its still not working as I expect it to work. Do you have a Apple Discussion post related to this issue I can read?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 still buggy and no updates while CS4 is being released ??

    dreamweaver CS3
    still buggy ??
    and
adobe has released CS4 instead of updating CS3?
    hi,
we are using dreamweaver cs3 international (turkish) version and it crashes while performing
search & replace all (code editor view) option.
is there a way to solve this issue (any updates, fixes and etc.  )
    or
do we need to use WORDPAD
application to make Search&Replace words in a document
    instead of DW CS3
    regards.
i hope  there is/will be any real update or fix for this. (I AM SURE ADOBE FINDS A WAY TO SOLVE this)
    info:
    using
    Vista Home Premium
    P CoreII Duo
    2gb ram
    dreamweaver cs3 turkish version ( V 9.0 Build 53 )
    ======================================

    well.
it feels bad, after paying money.
not being able to use a software full.
and ADOBE must be ashamed to give such service
(by not updating these softwares which has still lots of unknonw! bugs and also must be ashamed to put a page for unknown bugs. and trying to make customers be their own software engineers instead of the company's hundreths of engineers)
and this, which they do not fix their program is not important or the issue.
it is a sad subject that, they think the people will give money to fix their unusable programs which they already bought.
and to customers who has paid about 1000$ to a software suit are having a bad vision that ADOBE started to work for money instead of customer happiness.
    when they understand their
1000$ program has no support at all. no update or fixes at all.
which can not do a simple action
which the simplest editor WORDPAD editor does.

  • Can I use XP, Vista and Windows Server on my Mac Pro

Looking for options to have multiple Operating Systems available for bootup.
I need to have the ability to run XP, Vista, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 server. I am currently using a Windows PC with BootCommander. I want to use my Mac Pro for its power.
I have tried to use VMWare Fusion and it works perfectly. However, Camtasia crashes regularly within Fusion and I need high resolution desktop captures and the way virtualization does (rather does not) virtualize the RAM on the video card has made it not a viable solution.
    Your help is appreciated.

Format one or more of your drives as MBR and setup some partitions. Install in proper order. Or use multiple drives. Maybe someone on Fusion forum can help.
    http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/desktop/fusion
Some have used multiple VMs with Fusion and Apple Pro RAID5.

  • How to dual install Vista and Windows 7?

    Hi,
I have a question about setting up windows 7. But Im trying a slightly different approach. I have a drive on my Mac Pro that has Windows Vista on it. But I would like to put Windows 7 on it too. I dont know if i have to partition the drive to do this or can i just install it along side Vista? Thing is before i installed Vista I used disk utilities to partition the drive to 2 equal partitions but when I went on it to put Vista on it somehow Vista took the whole drive. So i have Vista on there and all set up but now I'd like to add Windows 7 without destroying Vista...How can I do that? Do i have to use the Mac OS and partition it and install or is this something I should do from the Vista side?

None. You have everything you need.
    Windows 7 DVD
    Vista
And if you want another Paragon CampTune for resizing partitions.
For backup, Vista, no need to buy Paragon or Acronis. WinClone is free and handy too.
Trouble with Macs, or any computer, there are always different ways to get to same place.
Backup, and then try, that is all anyone can do. I had Vista SP1 for work, Vista SP2 beta for testing, and Windows 7 beta to give it a shot, and I like W7 better.

  • Windows Mobile Device Center fails to open on Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines

    Hello,
Our domain based machines cannot open Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows 7 and Windows Vista). You click the application and nothing happens. There are no errors in the Event Viewer that relate. In Task Manager I do NOt see any processes that look related
to Windows Mobile Device Center. Our Group Policy Objects are very lean and limited, and we do not have any policies that specify how Windows Mobile Device Center should behave. The only GPO that I could think would interfere with this is to prevent malware
and viruses, we have disabled Autoplay on removable devices.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • HotSincing the Palm Z22 in 64 bit Vista (and Windows 7)

There has been much discussion on not being able to Sync the Z22 under 64-bit Windows Vista or 7, using a USB cable. I have found a solution that so far has worked just fine for me.
    Quoting from the website:
"Create an XP Mode for Windows 7 Home Versions & Vista. One of the cool features in Windows 7 is XP Mode. However, it’s only available for Windows 7 Professional and above, leaving Home Edition and Vista users out of luck. Today we’ll show you how to create your own XP Mode to run on Vista or Windows 7 Home Premium. Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows Vista are not licensed to run the free XP Mode download from Microsoft. However, if you have a legal copy of Windows XP, then you can easily recreate XP Mode with the free VMware Player.  This article will show you how quick and easy it is to get a virtual copy of XP running on any computer, even if it’s running 7 Home Premium or Windows Vista."
I installed the Palm Desktop v 6.2.2 and SplashPhoto Desktop v 5.03; the work just as they did on my 8 year old laptop with XP
Here's a link to the article. I hope it works for you.
