Dreamweaver CS3 preference file location

Dreamweaver CS3 was not able to be shut down on a Macintosh,
and the computer was powered down.
Now Dreamweaver does not have any of the site information in
Manage Sites (the window is blank).
There is a Time Machine backup (OS 10.5) we can restore, but
where is the Manage Sites preference info stored? Or it could be
the info in the Files palette we need to restore, I'm not sure
(it's someone else's computer, who had about 15 sites configured
through Dreamweaver).

  • Lightroom 2.6 preference file location on Windows 7

I have just installed windows 7 on my laptop and want to copy my preference file from my desktop Vista machine over so I have the same setup. I located the preference file in vista under users/myname/appdata/roaming/adobe/lightroom as per the post on this.  However in my windows 7 installation I just have a user "computer admin" and if i click on that I don't see any AppData folder.  Suggestions gratefulyl received.

    The correct location is:
    \Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences
Make sure you turn on show all files as mentioned above:
    From explorer:
ALT > Tools > Folder Options > View
CHECK > show hidden files and folders

  • Hey Forum Moderator ... what happened to the link to Preference file location??

There used to be link to a document describing the location of the Preferences files for various different versions of LR and various different operating systems.
That link used to be right here on the main page of the Lightroom Forum, but it's gone now.
    Can we have it back?

You mean the Overview page http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom?view=overview
I visit that page maybe once a month to remind myself where not to go for fear of getting lost.

  • Deleting Illustrator CS3 Preference File for PC

Can't seem to find the Preference file so that I can delete it on my hard drive. Tool tips doesn't show up when I hover over the tools and it's checked to show in the preference box. Also the CS3 graphic above the tool box doesn't show up.
I did a search on my comp and nothing came up and saw this
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c061edf/1
Still can't find that elusive aiprefs file folder. Any help?

An easy way on most Vista systems is to hit the start button, and in the Start Search field just above the button put in "AppData" without the quotes.
In the column above, you should see an AppData folder listed. Open that, And in side are three folders. Go into the Roaming folder and you will see an Adobe folder. Inside that will be the Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder.

  • Preference File Location

Now that I have spent much time getting my preferences customized, I would like to back them up to another location in case I have to reload. Where are these files located?

    Typically, C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop (your version).

  • Indesign CS6 preference file location

I am having trouble finding the InDesign CS6 preference file on my Mac. I don't have a library folder under my username but there is one for guest and macadmin. Is it hidden? How do I view this folder?
    Macintosh: Hard Drive/Users/<USER>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/<Version #>/<Language>/

Thank you. I was able to delete the file however it has not fixed my issues with indesign.
I can open InDesign on the guest account and everything loads fine. If I try to open it on my account I get the error "cannot open resource file" and my full preferences aren't loading. I am trying to get to InDesign>Preferences>Type and my full preferences are showing.

  • Dreamweaver cs3 removing file content

    Hi,
We changed over to CS3 at work and are working a new project,
3 of us all with CS3 on XP working off a central server,
when we use the check in check out it's randomly removing the
content of the file, so the actual file is there but it's empty, on
both the local file and the server version.
File type doesn't seem to matter, it's happened with css, asp
    and js include files.
has anyone else found this and / or knows a fix / workaround
for it, please let me know berfoe i lose all my hair.
    Cheers

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Remote files not visible

    Hello,
I have a problem with DW CS3. When I click on remote view, I
cannot see my files. I can connect via Filezilla, and I can log
onto the remote server control panel and all of the files are
there. The site is working fine. When I try "preview in browser"
command, I get a page cannot be found error. Afterward, there is a
folder visible in remote panel with the temp file in it. Here is
what I have tried so far:
Deleted the site in site management panel and set up again as
    new site.
Toggled passive FTP, same problem either way.
Everything was working fine until this week when I started
having problems getting DW to connect via ftp. The connection
became intermittent, then seemed to die. Now when I use the site
management panel to test the connections, they work fine, but I
    can't see the files.
I have not recently installed or changed any software on my
    PC.
    I am using Win XP
    Any ideas?

    Please tell us the following:
    1. Do you have a Testing server defined? If so, what are the
    field
    contents on that page?
    2. When you connect to the site and then expand the Files
    panel, which
server icon at the top is selected? Is it the one with the
    lightning bolt?

  • Allow preference file location to be specified.

I try to keep all my data on a different drive than my system. I back up the data drive regularly, but the system drive only occasionally.
Lightroom just crashed and tossed my preferences in the irrecoverable bit-bucket while it was at it (or is there a way to recover them?). Unfortunately my backup is old since the location can not be changed and is on the system drive. Thus many of my preferences are gone...
So, this feature request is two-fold:
    1. Allow user to specify location, so I could have it with the rest of my data that gets backed up. OR, just keep them with the rest of the settings/presets when "keep presets with catalog" is checked - either one would do.
    2. Have Lightroom backup presets and preferences whenever it backs up the catalog. i.e. redefine the "backup catalog" function to be "backup all critical lightroom data".
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Preferences are located
    OSX
    Username]/Library/Preferences folder
    Windows
    Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferences folder.
Most backup applications default to making a backup of the USER data folders, or you can specify the back up software to do so.
Locating preferences elsewhere would mean it wouldn't be a standard location that any catalog could use and may not be found when installing / re installing LR. Not sure how a crash could actually delete preferences although they could be corrupted during a crash and may need to be re written. Having them in a different location wouldn't prevent that.
Those using multiply catalogs could also end up with multiply preferences back ups, taken a different times and therefore causing some problems when restored, unless you are suggesting indivual catalog specific preferences which would seem to defeat the whole point of having preferences! If I used more than one catalog, each catalog would require separate plug ins, export presets and all the rest...a nightmare.

  • Adding .swf file to Dreamweaver CS3 page?

In Dreamweaver MX, I used to import .swf files, view them,
and they worked, both in Dreamweaver and on the web. But trying out
Dreamweaver CS3, ,swf files I import don't seem to work for me.
They're visibly there when I view the Dreamweaver page, but they do
not play in any browser. Obviously, something has changed. What?
What do I need to do to get a .swf file to play?
    Thanks for your help.

Your code is sticking some stuff in there that my code
    doesn't
for example the version is different (that should be okay if
    you have
Flash 10 installed, but also notice the path on your script:

which is going to director instead of flash.
I suggest you try my code, of course changed to reference
    your flash file.
Here's my code for a flash file:

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?

  • How to delete the Preferences file in mavericks

I have seen advice to delete my preferences to fix some "wonky" behavior (radial filter doesn't show outlines when applying it) by LR 5.5.   I have Mavericks on my Mac, and can't find out where to do this.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Preferences file location:
Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
Once you find the file, it can be deleted like any other file, but consider renaming it instead, so in case it doesn't help, you can rename it back..
    Quit Lightroom first!

  • Illustrator Settings, Preferences, Assets - Locations

    Hi all,
I am trying to find as much detail as possible on the location of all Illustrator settings, preferences and application assets in Illustrator CC. There is some information in Adobe's online documentation, but it is incomplete, as far as I can tell:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
It's late, so it's possible i'm just missing it...
For Mac OS, I think I've got it on lock.
Application Data (Global, all users, application-based):
    Mac HD > Applications > Adobe Illustrator CC > Presets > en_US
    Library - Application Support (User-based):
    Mac HD > Users > ~Username > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator 17 > en_US
    Library - Preferences (User-based):
    Mac HD > Users > ~Username > Library > Preferences > Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings > en_US
For Windows, it seems a bit more nebulous... I've found a few, but I'm not sure I've found them all, and it's unclear. I'm checkin on a Windows 7 box, and here's what I've found so far:
Program Files (Global, all users, program-based):
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC (64 Bit)\Presets
    (?) Application Data 1 (User-based):
    C:\Users\~Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator\17.0.0
    (?) Application Data 2 (User-based):
    C:\Users\~Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings\en_US\x64
From what I can tell, the first "user-baed" directory in the 17.0.0 folder, is just an xml-based preferences resource. But I don't know if that file, along with the other user-based directory comprises a 'complete' analog to the two directories in Mac OS.
Are there more? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Note: My work here is based on the English (US/Universal) install.

I am familiar with the locations of all of the files for Mac OS and am hvaing no problems with that.
The two Windows directories I listed seem to be allowing me to make changes and import settings from another build properly:
    Application Data 1 (User-based):
    C:\Users\~Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator\17.0.0
    Application Data 2 (User-based):
    C:\Users\~Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings\en_US\x64
I was able to move some files in place there and get the application to respond as needed.
Also, on a related note, when I did similar things in Windows as I did in Mac, it failed in similar ways. Moving workspace data into the application on either OS seems to break the interface completely.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 no longer opens files

    Greetings,
I am not sure where to post this, so I will post here - already have a question open on the Dreamweaver forums.
I have run into an unusual problem. I can no longer open files either on my local machine or remote server without Dreamweaver CS3 freezing. I am using OS X Leopard - 10.5.2 on an Intel MacBook Pro. A week or so ago I was able to open my .asp files just fine. Now, Dreamweaver simply freezes when I try and open them - either locally or remotely. I tried deleted the preferences file and removing site information from Manage Sites with no luck. I can create and open new files, but cannot open the existing files.
I copied the files in question to a PC and opened them just fine using Dreamweaver 8.02. I just don't know enough about the technical aspects to properly troubleshoot this problem. I already tried reinstalling also.
By the way, I am able to access, open and edit my files from the remote server using my PC and version 8.02.
    Any ideas?

It seems this is a known issue with Dreamweaver. I was able to access the files just fine by deselecting "display external links" in the view menu. Strange that I did not have to do this before.
For anyone interested, here are some links about this: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=12&catid=18 9&threadid=1262486&highlight_key=y&keyword1=design%20mode and http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401608&sliceId=1
