Dreamweaver CS3 Preview in Browser

HI there
Dreamweaver CS3 seems not to be forgiving program at all. I
still currently work on the old Dreamweaver MX 6 which proves to be
the good old faithful engine.
Anyway I wanna make this move to DMWCS3 but Its a little of a
culture shock.
Here's the Problem:
I successfully setup the testing server using the wizard to
create a new site, which shows to be successful (
http://localhost/). when you click
TEST URL.
Here's the kicker:
When It's time to preview the page "All you see is "The
source code in the browser". In the old version of Dreamweaver
everything works just fine. Are these programs conflicting with
each other? What the hell is going on?

fnOptionF12 will work.
fn tells the keyboard to send the F-xx instead of the special function.
And like I said there is an option in the System Preference to reverse the use of fn and make the F-xx keys work as F-xx instead of the special function.

  • Dreamweaver CC: Preview in Browser Not Working

I am new to Dreamweaver CC, but I've used other versions of Dreamweaver extensively.
Since I've installed CC, by Preview in Browser has not worked. When I click it, and choose my browser (this issue occurs with ANY browser I choose), it opens my chosen browser and then tells me the page cannot be found. I know the issue is where DW is pointing my browser. For example, if i'm working in my contact.php file in DW and tell it to preview in broswer, the address that shows up in my search bar is "contact.php/"
Now obviously, that won't point my browser to any usable address. So how do I fix the issue? I've tried looking through all kinds of settings but have found nothing.
    Someone please help me!

You realize you must have a local testing server installed and defined in your Site settings in order to preview PHP pages, right?
Which Local Testing Server are you  using?
    Is it running?
Do you have it pointing to your localhost?  See screenshots:

  • DW/CS3 Preview in browser puts the file, not previews it.

DW/CS3 When I preview in browser DW puts the file to the ftp remote server. It will not preview the local file in my primary or secondary browser.
It was ok in Win XP but I now have Win7 64.

Is this when you go up to File > Save or when you hit Ctrl + S?
If it only happens with the keyboard shortcut, maybe your mapping for "Save to Remote Server" has been messed up.
Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts
    Click the + by File
Is Ctrl + S on Save to Remote Server?

  • Just updated to Firefox 3.6.9, I'm building a site and the Dreamweaver CS3 Preview feature no longer works in previewing my pages. Any fixes available?

Just updated to Firefox 3.6.9 this morning. I'm building a site using Dreamweaver CS3 for a class and the Preview feature was working fine before the update. I can preview my pages in other browsers successfully, but now if I choose Firefox, no window opens.
    I have a Macbook Pro, OS X.

Sorry, Mozilla did a security fix that broke Dreamweaver with Firefox. Virtually no other programs were broken with that fix, and considering the age of Dreamweaver (~5 years since it was last updated) they decided not to back-out that security fix for one old, elderly program. This problem was discussed at length back in January and February after Firefox 3.6 was first released.

  • Question about Dreamweaver CS4 Preview in Browser

    Good morning,
as a newcomer to Dreamweaver CS4, I find myself in a strange position: I managed to create several pages that work correctly, but whenever I transfer those pages in the server of the company I work for, they show up with a different format for the text parts, and the divs show up as shorter than they should be. And yet, I pretty much copy-and-pasted the original working html pages from my C to the server... why does this problem happen?
    Thank you very much.

I can't really say without seeing your code. But some things that may cause issues:
    - make sure your code is valid by running it through a validator: http://validator.w3.org/ and fixing any issues noted
    - Some older versions of IE have a different way of handeling the box-model concept and this can cause sizing and layout issues. You can read all about it on the internet.
But I would focus on making sure your code is valid - most rendering issues are caused by invalid code like missing closing tags, improperly nested elements, etc.

  • Dreamweaver mx2004 preview in browser text all underlined

Hello:  I have upgraded my mxstudio 2004, but in the meantime I am trying to fix a problem while I wait for the cd to arrive.  My index page in iE8 browser suddendly shows all text underlined. I have spent considerable time trying to resolve and I do not know much about code. Thanks for any help.

I have spent considerable time trying to resolve and I do not know much about code.
As Murray told you in November of 2007, http://forums.adobe.com/message/734878#734878 :
If you are serious about using DW, you will have to change this. Without familiarity with HTML and CSS, you will not understand the problems you post about (and that frustrate you), and worse, you will not understand the answers that people give you.
The problem you're seeing is almost certainly in the code. As you should be aware from last time, there is not much anybody can offer to help without seeing the code. And, as asked last time, it would be best if you can upload the problem page to a server and provide a URL link to that page.
Otherwise, if you must post the code in here, please use the >>Insert->Syntax Highlighting->Plain feature of the online Web forum as shown here: Posting code in this forum
Meanwhile, remove all errors reported after you input the URL to the problem page in the HTML Validator and the CSS Validator. The newer versions of DW are much pickier about using valid code and those links should help quite a bit.

  • How can I get Firefox to display 'preview in browser' Dreamweaver Web-page files?

I chose Firefox as the primary browser for Adobe Dreamweaver's 'Preview in Browser' to display Web pages as I develop them. '''Firefox used to work just fine'''. Recently, however, when choosing Firefox to Preview in DW, FF merely opens to my home page. Once opened, FF will not accept/preview any files from Dreamweaver, regardless of how many times I choose to Preview. Safari and others - when selected as the preview browser - display them perfectly.
    PPC Mac, OS X 10.4.11, Firefox v. 3.6.21

Have you tried the update to Fast Dial, version 4.2.1 or later? It should override the built-in new tab page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fast-dial-5721/ ''(Note: I haven't tested it myself)''
If you are using a similar add-on that isn't the same "Fast Dial", which one is it?

  • XSL won't preview in browser

So I hope this isn't something incredibly simple that I'm overlooking, but...
I recently upgraded to CS4 fro CS3 (on a Mac). I have an XSL file to transform some XML for use in InDesign. In CS3, I could open the XSL file, specify the XML file in the bindings panel, then preview in browser to get the transformed XML. So I opened CS4 and followed the same steps, but when I ask Dreamweaver to preview in browser, nothing happens. I've specified Firefox as my primary browser and Safari as secondary, but neither does anything. What am I missing here?
    Thanks!

Are you using your local computer to test the XSLT document?  If so, do you have a web server running with PHP on your local server?  DW uses server side scripting to display the XSLT document so if you cannot execute PHP nothing will show up.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and using keyboard shortcut to preview in browser

    Hello,
I am currently using Dreamweaver CS3 and the shortcut to preview work in the browser is Command - F12. The problem is, I'm using the Apple keyboard and when I click that, the volume of the system changes.
I've tried Control, Command, Command+Control, etc, and F12 and nothing works. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    fnOptionF12 will work.

  • Firefox 3.6.13 will not open as the browser to view web pages from within Dreamweaver CS3

I build websites with Dreamweaver CS3. I am operating on Mac OS 10.4.11 using Firefox 3.6.13 - The problem began on the last software update. I like to use Firefox instead of Safari. Up to the point where I upgraded, I never had a problem but now, when I go to preview/debug in browser, Firefox loads but it goes no farther than my home page ... it will not load the Dreamweaver page preview. Safari works fine. So I think there may be a problem loading 3.6.13 past the startup page.

Here's the fix. Dump Firefox 3.6.13 and Re-Install Firefox 3.5.16. Problem solved.

  • Help using Dreamweaver cs3 tutorial, chapter 8, opening browser window dialog box

    Hello,
I am using the adobe classroom in a book tutorial for cs3 and have run into a snafu on page 188 of chapter 8.   I have tried to select the + sign under the smaller top photo to create a pop-up window.  when I select the + sign I cannot access the open browser window dialog box to enter info.  I cannot seem to use the link field in the property inspector for this.  The link area under source will not come up, just the link over target, which in turn will not bring up the open browser dialog box.  Any solutions?  Thanks,  DesignChambers

    Hi David,
I just had the same problem.  I cannot preview in Mozilla (or IE).  The program becomes unresponsive and I have to close it. Is there any chance that Adobe will update Dreamweaver CS3 so that we can preview in modern browsers?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 frameset browse problem

When I click to preview in a browser for a .CFM file which
contains a frameset, Dreamweaver opens the browser with the
    PHYSICAL path (eg. C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\mysite\frameset.cfm) and
so all that is displayed in the browser is markup. On the other
hand, if I click to preview in a browser for any other .CFM file,
Dreamweaver correctly opens the page using the web url (eg.
    http://localhost:8501/mysite/test.cfm)
and so the page is parsed properly.
Also, If I click the "Live Data Viewer" button on the
frameset page, then I get a message:
The testing server did not execute any of the scripts in your
document. Possible explanations: Testing server is not running.
    Testing server ignores .cfm files.
That message only occurs on the frameset page. Other .CFM
pages display correctly in the Live Data Viewer.

  • Widget Browser in Dreamweaver CS3

can you use the widget browser in Dreamweaver CS3?

    Hallo Uta,
Daher wäre es besser Du suchst eine moderne jQuery-Plugin-Galerie, Google will be your friend.   Hier nur eine kleine Auswahl brauchbarer Links:

  • Can't preview in Dreamweaver CS3

I can't preview the web page in Dreamweaver CS3. When I click
the globe symbol that says "Preview/Debug in Preview", it says it
will update the file and allow me to preview it. But then I get an
error message and the browswer will not show the page.
But when I ftp the files to my site, I can see everything OK.
How can I see the preview?

and if you are writing static html pages with no server side
    code in them,
set testing server access to "none"
