Dreamweaver CS3 Problems Saving to Network

Hello! I recently started having a problem where any HTML
files I open from my network volume (an Airport Disk) are becoming
corrupt upon saving. What happens is that once I save and close the
file, next time I open it (or try to preview it in a browser) the
file is completely blank in both design and code views. If I save
to my local disc, everything seems fine. Anyone else having this
issue, and if so, anyone find a fix?
I'm running CS3 on Mac OS X 10.5.3.

This is a known issue with OS X 10.5.3. The official word
from Adobe has been that they have always suggested against this
behavior for this specific reason, thus it is why Version Cue
exists.

  • 10.5.3 Update causes problems saving to networked servers

From the first paragraphs of an article in ComputerWorld
Users of Adobe Systems Inc.'s popular design software, including Photoshop and InDesign, have reported that after updating their Macs to the latest version of Leopard, files get corrupted when saved to network servers.
Apple Inc. had no immediate explanation, but a spokesman pointed to a year-old Adobe warning of potential problems when saving files to network drives.
On Wednesday, Apple released Mac OS X 10.5.3, an update that fixed more than 100 security vulnerabilities and other problems.
By the next morning, users were complaining on both Adobe's and Apple's support forums that files created by its CS3 suite applications -- Photoshop is the best known in the bundle -- were being corrupted.
"Essentially, Photoshop doesn't recognize the files after saving edits on an existing X server, thus ruining your file," said a user named Kevin Moran in a message posted to an Adobe support forum Thursday.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 problem

Hi guys, I have just installed the new dreamweaver cs3 after
using dreamweaver MX for a long time.... but I have a problem. The
application apparently does not recognize files like .css or .php,
im having some file type association issues. How do i fix it??? I
    hope you can help me...
    thanks!

right-click on one of these types of files.
pick "open with" and browse to and pick dreamweaver.
put a checkmark in the box where it says:
    "Always use the selected program
to open this kind of file"
repeat for the other files types.
    Or- go to My Computer
Under the top menu, pick Tools-->Folder options-->File
    types and change the
    settings for those file extensions.

  • Problems saving to networked drive

Off and on for some time now I have been having problems saving from Keynote (and sometimes Pages) to a networked drive. I may save once ok, but from then on when I try to 'Save' I get a message that the file cannot be saved. If I save the file under a different name all is ok, at least for a few times before I get the message again. This happens from machines running Tiger or Leopard. The particular 'server' is a machine running 10.4.11 with an attached RAID array - I am logged in under my own account name saving to a volume out on the RAID array. This started when I only had Tiger on all my machines and continues with Tiger on some and Leopard on others. Any suggestions about how I might start attacking this?
    TIA

A similar thing happens to me with Pages and Numbers.
Although when it happens, I just save it again, and it saves without any problem.
It works but is a little annoying.

  • Illustrator CS3 - problems saving as pdf  (or pdf-compatible)

    Hi,
My office are trialling Illustrator CS3 as we're getting some business card type work and we'd like to be able to send the proposed designs to the client as a multi-page PDF.
Unfortunately, I'm having a terrible problem when saving a particular file i) as .ai format, if PDF compatibility is checked, &
    ii) as a PDF.
In both cases the progress bar goes half way and then Illustrator hangs, eventually saving after 3 hours, at the last try!
The multi-page document consists of 7 x A4 tiles, I know this sounds big but actually there's not that much stuff in it: on each page there's a bit of text, a gradient, 3 monochrome logos and two drop-shadows. There is also a spot colour and a linked image (500kb). If/when it eventually saves the pdf is <150kb and the .ai is <2mb.
I've tested various options when saving to try to trace the problem and it ONLY hangs when PDFing is involved; it saves with compression really fast.
Obviously the time it's taking isn't practical so I'm hoping someone can suggest what might be wrong. The PC is a decent spec: WINXP sp2 / 3GHz P4 / 1mb ram / 256mb gfx / 1.5Gb swapfile / 5gb defragged space on HD. I've looked at the Windows Task Manager as Illustrator is trying to save - the CPU is only up to 50% and the swapfile usage is 300mb - if it's taking so long why isn't it maxed out?
Hope someone can help, thanks in advance.
    smithy_ss

I can't save a 1.4 meg .ai file as .pdf. Program freezes.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Problem Loading Pages

I've just upgraded from Dreamweaver MX to CS3 and CS3 cannot
load any page created in MX properly. The pages come up blank,
tables are empty, pages are thousands of characters wide, etc. If I
view the pages in Firefox, they look fine, I just can't use CS3 to
manipulate them at all. Is there some trick to making them
    compatible?
    Help!
Edit: Actually, I reinstalled MX and it won't load pages it
used to load either. This is on top of a clean Windows install.
Ideas would be greatly appreciated, I can't maintain my web pages
    this way!

    > if you view them through Firefox or IE, they look just
    fine
Browsers are incredibly forgiving. DW is not. That's how it
    should be.
Let's see one of these pages, please.
    > Is it possible there's something wrong with Dreamweaver?
    It's extremely unlikely.
    > This is an issue with both CS3 and MX so maybe it's an
    issue in Windows?
I'm betting dollars to KrispyKreme donuts it's an operator
    problem.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 problem with small fonts

    Hello,
I am having a problem with text appearing
REALLY SMALL and unreadable in CS3, when it looked fine in
Dw8. It also looks fine in in all browsers.
I talked to Adobe tech support, and they said something about
my CSS file not being correct. I looked at it, and nothing seems
    out of the ordinary.
If it was a problem with my CSS file, wouldn't it look bad in
    the browser as well?
    Any suggestions?
    Ron

    Ron,
Thanks for the sample file. This is a bit complicated, so
    please bear
    with me.
Up until DW8, DW rendering always targeted the most popular
    browser at
that time. For DW8, that was IE6. Traditionally, the most
    popular
browser was the most popular because it was the best browser,
    but that
no longer holds true. So, DW CS3 now targets CSS 2.1. Note
    that DW does
not support all of the CSS 2.1 spec, but what it does support
    follows
    the spec.
Your page does not have a DOCTYPE, so it renders in "quirks"
    mode in the
browsers that I tested it in on WinXP (FF2, IE7, Opera9). DW
    renders
this page in IE6 quirks mode, but DW CS3 no longer supports
    quirks mode.
Put a DOCTYPE such as the following in your page to see what
    I mean:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
    Transitional//EN"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
The reason that the font is so small is because of the
    font-size
    property in this rule:
    TD {
    FONT-SIZE: 80%;
Your page has tables nested 4 levels deep, so the 80% is
    compounded at
each level. I fixed this in DW CS3 by creating a style sheet
    with this rule:
    TD { FONT-SIZE: 100% !important; }
and the applied it as a Design-time Style Sheet, although you
    may be
able to remove the 80% altogether.
    Hope this helps,
    Randy

  • Dreamweaver CS3 - Problems with Firefox

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to css and divs and need help fixing an error
on two pages of the following site:
    www.caroleoconnell.com and
    www.caroleoconnell.com/OnlineStore.html
The site appears fine in IE7. If one tries to open the same
site in Firefox, the content in the middle section looks scrambled
and overlapping, which obviously indicates that the css rules
create somehow a conflict for Firefox.
The error message in Dreamweaver shows the following:
“Found 1 errors in external css files

Explorer for Macintosh 5.2; Netscape 8.0; Opera 8.0, 9.0; Safari

The attached shows the css rules.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 First Run problems

    Installing Dreamweaver CS3 Saga.
I've had some trouble and despite looking for answers and
trying a few things I'm getting nowhere. I've included a timeline
of events below to help explain.
    0) System: New Dell Opliplex 745 running XP Pro Sp2 and
networked to a domain. Educational License ordered for MOPS school.
    Disk delivered.
    1) Tried installing in regular user's account. When it
prompted for admin details, I entered them, but it didn't work.
Insufficient rights to install, fair enough.
    2) Logged on as domain admin. Tried installing. Failed!
    Insufficient rights. Hmmm.
    3) Logged on to local computer as administrator. Installed.
Success! However, could not find the serial number so selected
"trial" option. All worked ok. Emailed supplier to find out why
serial was not included with disk.
    4) Gave regular user full admin rights on computer to avoid
    future hassles.
    5) Obtained serial from supplier (it was on the invoice).
Entered serial number while logged on as user. Dreamweaver accepted
serial but then a blank dialog box (titled Adobe Dreamweaver CS3)
opened over the top of the rest of Dreamweaver and froze up access
to Dreamweaver. Can't close box, can't interact with box apart from
moving it around over the top of DW. It doesn't count as a separate
    window in the task bar.
    6) Ended Dreamweaver process, loaded it again. Blank dialog
box appeared yet again however Dreamweaver began some adobe
updating. ~140mb download. Around 20mb in, some files began
installing - so far so good. Then, adobe updater vanished and we're
    back to frozen dialog box.
    7) Restarted computer. Logged on as user again, ran
Dreamweaver again. Frozen blank dialog box again HOWEVER I did find
that if I was quick I could interact normally with Dreamweaver,
open files, etc for a few seconds until dialog box kicks in. Also
when ending the task instead of ending the process, the windows
message says "The system cannot end this program because it is
waiting for a response from you. To return to windows and check the
status of the program, click cancel. If you choose to end the
program immediately, you will lose any unsaved data. To end the
program, click End Now." Obviously this refers to the blank dialog
box but I can't interact with the box so I can't respond to DW.
    8) Remembering previous troubles, logged off and logged on to
local machine as administrator. Ran Dreamweaver again. This time an
initial dialog box asking about file associations popped up. Then,
Adobe update began running, this time 120mb download. Once again,
around 20mb in, some files installed and then Dreamweaver frozen
dialog box once more is revealed. The rest of the updates are
nowhere to be seen, adobe updater does not seem to be running any
    more.
    9) Found an issue in forums with corrupt Bonjour installation
causing DNS trouble. Figured this might be affecting the updates,
uninstalled the service as outlined elsewhere on this forum. Did
    not help.
    10) Decided to attempt a repair install from the disk. It
seemed to work but then only the shared components seemed to
install. But underneath that in the installation window, it said
both Dreamweaver and the Shared Components failed to install. So
did it fail or did it not fail? Your guess is as good as mine.
    11) Ran Dreamweaver again. This time, a green "scrolling
credits" style window appeared, with "Click here to continue". Upon
clicking, the credits window disappeared and all looked well. I
alt-tabbed to something else but when I went back into Dreamweaver
the blank dialog window was back again.
I've searched the net, and scanned these forums but I am
unable to find a similar issue or any clue as to how to proceed
    next.
I am going to try to uninstall Dreamweaver and reinstall it
fully, while logged on as local admin, probably I will use the CS3
    clean script that I found on the forums to make sure its all gone;
and then I will enter the serial at the same time as installation
to avoid ever triggering the trial installation conditions. In the
meantime if anyone has any suggestions feel free to chip in with
    ideas.
PS Further information which I just remembered: Internet
access is restricted by a proxy. Adobe updater worked fine after
giving it username and password to log on to the proxy. Perhaps
this frozen screen is trying to access the internet?

Further information - when I tried to uninstall I was advised
by the uninstaller that I should deactivate CS3. But I couldn't

    You could try this
Temporarily disable security on your home network
    See if the iPad connects
If it does then reset the security - with the same or different password
