Dreamweaver CS3 seems to be crashing with TimeMachine

I just got TimeMachine working with a TimeCapsule. Ever since I've seen
incredible slowdowns and stalls in Fireworks and DW3 keeps crashing on open.
I have to repair permissions to get it to work. Anyone else seen this
muddled behavior? I also am seeing Photoshop open with a message:
"cannot import clipboard, unexpected end of file reached." Seems to be
happening at the same time, and/or working with images from locked CD and
open using FWorks at the same time...
Running fsck finds no errors.

I will say I am very disappointed with Adobe online chat support regarding this matter.  the person I got just belw me off and told me to call mon-friday and ended chat.  totaslly unacceptable when you pay $50.00 per month and you are not able to be at your computer during their open hours for phone support.  Worse yet when you are trying to get some stuff done.  Reall makes one wonder why I signed up for such pathetic service!!  {ay $600 a year and get nothing but disconnected.  Adobe needs to fiox this before it goes viral on social media!!!

  • Fireworks CS3 OS X constant crashes with complex files

    I recently purchased CS3 and started using Fireworks CS3
    instead of Photoshop for web development. Absolutely love it. I
    started having crashes, mainly on opening complex files created in
    Fireworks CS3. A couple weeks ago I formatted my entire system,
    starting completely from scratch, only installing the applications
    and fonts that I absolutely needed. Nevertheless, I continue to get
    Fireworks crashes, which appear by the logs to be related to a
    memory leak in Fireworks.
    If Fireworks only crashed itself, the issue would be bad
    enough. But it brings down several other apps with it. The apps are
    different each time. Sometimes it crashes Mail and Dashboard
    Calendar, sometimes it crashes Firefox and iCal. Rarely does it
    crash only itself. And rarely does it crash all programs. It's
    usually a random selection of apps.
    All other CS3 apps have worked beautifully. All other apps on
    the box work great. And the log is filled with stuff like:
    quote:

    Heaven forbid, Linda! How dare a Fireworks user talk about
    his problem with yet another buggy Macrodobe product. The nerve!
    Telling him to contact your support is like telling him to contact
    the man in the moon because you've run out of cheese.
    Brian, I share your frustration. Fireworks has become
    completely unstable for me with large or complex files on my Mac.
    It works much better on my PC though. It has been my experience
    that almost all releases of Macrodobe software works this way on a
    mac until late in its product cycle.
    This, sadly, seems to be the way Macrodobe works though. :(
    This is a user to user forum, Brian. There's not much we can

  • Dreamweaver CS3 for MAC bug / MySQL with PHP

    I am using DW for Windows for over 4 years, this time I have
    to change my desktop to a MACBookPro because of the long run time
    on battery and best 17" laptop screen. But DW CS3 cannot connection
    to my MySQL database on my remote server like Windows version.
    After talking to Adobe tech support, they acknowledge that it is a
    software bug and there is no fix nor work around. I paid a lot of
    money for the CS3 Design premium suite and it is frustrating that
    Adobe does event test this basic function and all tech support can
    give me with my premium support contract is they submitted bug
    report and there is no ETA or anyone will alert me when a fix is
    available!!!!!
    I just like to share this so any one is thinking about using
    Dreamweaver for MAC and need MySQL, you should check with Adobe
    before pulling you credit out.

    I've been a Mac convert for about 2 years now. Right now, I'm
    running DW CS3 on an Intel iMac and it runs beautifully. On my
    Powerbook G4 (1.33 GHz PPC G4 and 2 GB of ram) the performance is
    slightly lacking. One thing to be wary of with adobe products -
    they can be memory hogs. Photoshop is especially notorious for
    this.
    Also, the more you have installed on a Mac laptop, the slower
    it will run. Mine used to take a few minutes to boot because of all
    the programs I had installed, and nothing was starting up with the
    machine. After a format and clean install it runs like new.
    That is something for you to consider, if you have all the
    necessary software to reinstall everything you want. I never turn
    off any features in DW and I have only had a few buggy problems.
    Nothing major though.

  • Dynamic drop down list crash dreamweaver CS3

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with Dreamweaver CS3.I'm running it with
    Vista SP1
    I try to create a mysql dynamic dropdown list in AJAX with
    this
    Tutorial
    Once the form is created and when I try to insert the php
    code and change the name of the variable , Dreamweaver crash
    everytime and close.
    I tried also with other tutorial and codes but it crashes
    everytime I insert some dynamic dropdown list.
    If someone ever encountered this probleme or have any idea
    ... thanks !!

    The Preview function is a development feature to demonstrate the results of merging data (the .xml specificed in Form Properties > Preview > Data File) with the .xdp or .pdf. When you open in the form in Reader or Acrobat the same .xml file is not merged with the form automatically.
    To get data into a PDF you have a number of options including:
    1) use LiveCycle Forms ES server-side solution to do data merge
    2) use a data connection to a database or a Web Service
    3) use JavaScript importData() or FormCalc get()
    To use options 2) and 3) the form has to be rights-enabled for the respective function to work in Reader.
    If you use option 3), you can attach the JavaScript 'xfa.host.importData()' to a button or some other event. When importData() fires it will prompt the user with a file browser to pick the .xml. The importData() method will work if the PDF is rights-enabled, only. Open the PDF in Acrobat Professional, from the toolbar, select 'Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader' and save the PDF.
    Note, if you specify the .xml file name in importData(), the PDF must be certified. This is for security purposes.

  • Is Spry wdiget causing my Dreamweaver CS3 to crash?

    Recently my dreamweaver cs3 crashed, The last thing I was
    doing on dreamweaver CS3 was using the spry tabs widget.
    When I tried to run Dreamweaver CS3 application, it would
    crash. I then had to reinstall my Dreamweaver following the clean
    cs3 routine.
    Dreamweaver now runs, but when I try and open the html file
    which contained the spry widget it crashes. When I try and open any
    other html file its fine. I even tried to open the spry html page
    using dreamweaver MX2004, and it too crashed.
    However when I view the spry widget page in a web browser, it
    works fine.
    So I guess the srpy widget is causing problems. If so, how do
    I fix it?
    thanks
    Jon

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • Problem in dreamweaver cs3

    I am having a lot of problem using dreamweaver cs3. It always crashes whenever i write or copy a piece of code in it. It was alright from last couple of months but now it crashes whenever i start using it.

    Hi Javed,
    Please reply back with the solution to this problem
    well, I don´t know this extension and can´t help you. I was just looking at the iptsolutions.com website, and - apart from not seeing any information related to this extension - they say it´s a "Macromedia Dreamweaver" extension, though Dreamweaver CS3 is an Adobe product.
    That said, it might well be that their extensions have simply not been updated for being compatible with CS3, and that´s assumingly why it won´t work here -- however the recommendable way would be to always ask the extension developers, as they are the only ones who can provide first-hand anwers.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Preview in Browser

    HI there
    Dreamweaver CS3 seems not to be forgiving program at all. I
    still currently work on the old Dreamweaver MX 6 which proves to be
    the good old faithful engine.
    Anyway I wanna make this move to DMWCS3 but Its a little of a
    culture shock.
    Here's the Problem:
    I successfully setup the testing server using the wizard to
    create a new site, which shows to be successful (
    http://localhost/). when you click
    TEST URL.
    Here's the kicker:
    When It's time to preview the page "All you see is "The
    source code in the browser". In the old version of Dreamweaver
    everything works just fine. Are these programs conflicting with
    each other? What the hell is going on?

    fnOptionF12 will work.
    fn tells the keyboard to send the F-xx instead of the special function.
    And like I said there is an option in the System Preference to reverse the use of fn and make the F-xx keys work as F-xx instead of the special function.

  • Are dreamweaver CS3 templates responsive?

    Hello,
    I need to create my project that will work also in ipad and the new cellphones?  I'm using Dreamweaver CS3, and already almost done with the project when I was asked to have this new parameter - the site has to be responsive to these devices.  Will the template in Dreamweaver CS3 work with these devices?  I don't currently have these devices to test.  How could I test them.  If not, any suggestions... Any help, please....
    Zandy
    [email protected]

    Unfortunately, CS3 predates the "responsive design" concept by a few years. You can still make responsive designs using it, but it requires more knowledge of handcoding the CSS/HTML. If you look into Media Queries and Responsive Design online, there are quite a few sources that give you the info you'll need. Depending on your level of comfort with CSS and HTML, they may be a great help, or a confusing mess.
    http://www.lynda.com is a good resource
    As for previewing things for smaller devices, Firefox has a nice little thing built in for that...
    Tools > Web Developer > Responsive Design View (Ctrl + Shift + M).

  • Dreamweaver cs3 freezes

    i had been working on a website for over a month with
    dreamweaver cs3. after having different pages with videos, php form
    page and content i uploaded. after a couple of times dreamweaver
    started to freeze on me and when it opened the home page was all
    blank with some gibberish??? I went recreated the page and next day
    when i opened dreamweaver to continue the work.... Again the xhtml
    page was BLANK?? Third time I copied another index.html page from
    its subfolder and started to work AGAIN... now Dreamweaver just
    freezes...... my months worth work is at stake... what's wrong..
    and how can i get this fixed?
    BTW i even reinstalled Dreamweaver from the original disk but
    it still freezes. This is exhausting and very discouraging to use
    dreamweaver for website.

    there is no code. it happened after dreamweaver froze while
    quitting application. when i reopened, it has some odd text and
    symbols...second time just blank page.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Crashes At Startup

    I installed the CS3 web premium suite and all the programs
    worked great, including Dreamweaver. After rebooting the PC the
    next morning, Dreamweaver CS3 would not launch anymore. I
    reinstalled DW but still the same problem. Startup gets as far as
    reading the site cache and then totally disappears. I've tried
    renaming/deleting the Configuration and the registry key
    (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9), and the DW8 site
    caches. The other CS3 programs work fine.
    What now?

    I can open Dreamweaver now but I don't think the problem is
    solved. Here's what happened:
    I took the steps in the article you referenced and some
    others, re-started the pc repeatedly with all start-up programs
    disabled, and waited in vain for the promised return phone call
    from a seemingly diligent guy in Tech Support. When I called Tech
    Support the next day, they said that the case number and customer
    ID had no reference to this problem so someone would call back. OK,
    fine. I'll wait.
    I did a "clean update" of ZoneAlarm, remembering that this
    had solved some other problems in the past. Later yesterday, I was
    cleaning up some experimental website file directories and renamed
    a few of them to make more sense of what they were.
    When I tried to re-open Dreamweaver later, it paused to tell
    me that it could not find the directory for the site referenced in
    the site definition and I should go to Manage Sites to fix it.
    Since Dreamweaver had crashed repeatedly before reaching this
    stage, this was a major victory. The site it was trying to open was
    one that I had set up to experiment with some of the new features
    in DW CS3 after the initial installation. Fortunately, it was one
    that I had renamed earlier yesterday.
    The offending directory contained a page with some of the new
    Spry widgets (Tabbed Panel and Accordian) and a short slideshow
    that I think I made using Bridge.
    So, I was able to open the Manage Sites panel and point
    Dreamweaver to another site definition. It opened fine and everyone
    lived happily ever after.
    Unfortunately, the problem is not solved -- just worked
    around by coincidence.
    Here is some info from the Windows Control Panel's Event
    Viewer about the last time that DW crashed: Faulting application
    dreamweaver.exe, version 9.0.0.3481, faulting module msvcr80.dll,
    version 8.0.50727.163, fault address 0x000142f1.
    Hope ths helps Adobe figure out what is causing this crash.
    Now that I can open Dreamweaver CS3 and use it, I'm really
    impressed with the upgrade.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 error crash on SELECT

    Took me a few hours to figure this out. It was as if only
    certain pages would crash DW when I began to work in them about
    half way down the page, in code view. Opening the file in notepad,
    I deleted line-by-line to find the culprit. Then I ran some test to
    figure out the specific cause, and here is the results:
    This crashes DW:
    <select name="anyname">
    <option
    value="1"><cfoutput>#now()#</cfoutput></option>
    </select>
    And this crashes DW:
    <select>
    <cfset myVar = "One">
    </select>
    This does not crash DW:
    <cfoutput>
    <select name="anyname">
    <option value="1">#now()#</option>
    </select>
    </cfoutput>
    This does not crash DW:
    <select name="anyname">
    <option value="1">One</option>
    </select>
    So, any <cf... code inside a <select> statement will
    crash DW (for me). This is bad when I need to do <cfloop>'s
    over <options>.
    However, this does not crash DW:
    <cfselect name="anyname">
    <option
    value="1"><cfoutput>#now()#</cfoutput></option>
    </cfselect>
    Notice that the above example is like the first example,
    except that I use <cfselect> instead of <select>. That
    is my fix for now because it works with <cfselect>.
    Any ideas whats going on here? How to fix it or anything?

    Yes. This technote should sort it:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402776
    The technote refers only to PHP and ASP pages, but the same
    problem
    seems to have affected CF users, too.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 crashes after Daylight Savings Time ends

    In Windows XP x64, Dreamweaver CS3 crashes after
    Daylight Savings Time ends. There is a technote that seems to
    describe the situation exactly.
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402776&sliceId=1
    However...
    1) The technote says this happens only with ASP and PHP code.
    I'm using ColdFusion. (That's a minor point.)
    2) The technote says...
    Delete the WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat file from the
    Dreamweaver user configuration folder. Note that on Windows, the
    Application Data and AppData folders are hidden by default, so
    verify that your Windows Explorer folder options are set to View
    Hidden Folders. The location of this file is as follows:
    Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
    9\Configuration
    Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration
    However, I coudn't find WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat in
    Documents and Settings or in Program Files (86)\Adobe. (The 86 is
    because this is a 32-bit program on a 64-bit machine, but all the
    rest is the same.) I then searched both directories for *.dat and
    there was no file that looked anything like
    WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat.
    .Can anybody help me?
    Thanks!

    Alan, thanks for the suggestion.
    I did the search found the file, deleted it, opened
    Dreamweaver CS3, selected the same text -- and it crashed as
    before.
    THEN I REBOOTED and tried again - NO CRASH. So it seems that
    a reboot is an essential part of the fix.
    BTW: My situation fit the Technote description exactly. (1)
    The crash happened when selecting -- in design or code view --
    certain text in a context of HTML intermingled with ColdFusion
    code; (2) I had no problem with these files before Daylight Savings
    ended; (3) even after that I had no problem with them in Macromedia
    Dreamweaver 8 on another machine -- the problem was only on CS3.
    So the Technote is correct as far as it goes, but should be
    amended as follows:
    1) ColdFusion should be included in the types of code that
    can be associated with the problem.
    2) Instead of deleting WinFileCache-AD76BB20.dat, one should
    delete WinFileCache-[whatever].dat.
    3) A reboot after the deletion may be required.
    Anyway, problem solved.
    Thank you!
