Dreamweaver CS3 Upgrade

I have purchased a copy of Dreamweaver CS3 Upgrade and on
installation my previous Dreamweaver 8 version serial number is not
recognised
I have reread the upgrade paths and it looks as though I have
made an error. I hadn't appreciated Adobes new upgrade route for my
Studio 8 using the Creative suite option.
As a result although I own a full version of Studio 8 I
purchased a copy of Photoshop CS2 and upgraded it to CS3.
I then purchased an upgrade of Dreamweaver CS3 expecting to
be able to upgrade using my Dreamweaver 8 in Studio 8.
This has probably cost me more than if I had just upgraded
using Creative Suite.
I am not expecting something for nothing but I have genuinely
made a mistake and all I need is a working legal copy of
Dreamweaver CS3 to work alongside my Photoshop CS3.
I made the mistake and have entered a support Web case on the
Adobe Web Site with no answer as yet (two weeks so far)
could you please advise me on the best way to put it right
without costing another fortune.
Thanks
Tony Prodger

Thanks Tony. I've forwarded your info to our European support
team for
investigation. Please post back if you don't hear from
someone in the next
few days.

    Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (Educational Version)

    Macromedia Dreamweaver 8
    Please help. Thanks!

You cannot however, upgrade from owing a Macromedia suite and
    upgrading to a
stand-a-lone version of a product, like Dreamweaver CS3 only.

  • I can't reinstall my Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Upgrade (which was bought against Adobe Golive 6)

I worked with it since 2009 and now following a crash I need to reinstall on Windows 8.1 but impossible as Golive is not anymore in the options proposed as fromer version. No possibility to contact customer service. Any idea how to manage this and recover my software back...I am completely stuck
    Thx for help

I think you're right, you're stuck. Neither GoLive or CS3 are supported by Adobe anymore and I've never seen anyone install GL on Windows 8, which is what you would need to do first in order to install the CS3 "from GoLive" Upgrade version.
I think your only real options would be to pick up a copy of DWCS6: Creative Suite 6 (outdated and not receiving updates, but still available from Adobe)
Or get a subscription to the Creative Cloud (you get a discount on the first year as a previous owner of CS3): Creative Cloud pricing and membership plans | Adobe Creative Cloud
Through the CC subscription you can install DWCS6, CC and CC 2014.1 all as separate installations.

    Dreamweaver CS3 instead CS4 for optimization on older hardware . . .
I do design for print and every year more and more customers have asked me if I would design their web site after I have designed their brochures and other collateral. For the last nine years I have never found the time to learn web production. I purchased Adobe PageMill and then upgraded to Adobe GoLive 5 but I have never found the time to learn these programs. But lately, requests for web design have persisted. I downloaded the trial version of Dreamweaver CS4 but it is too slow on my 1.25 GHz MDD Dual G4, running Mac OS 10.4.11.
So I purchased the Dreamweaver CS3 upgrade, which was still available from Officemax.com. I also purchased "Dreamweaver CS3: The Missing Manual" by David McFarland. I'll be going through the tutorials on weekends trying to become functional with Dreamweaver.
I'll be using it in WYSIWYG mode and not as a HTML coder.

I would have been happy to make DWCS4 my first step up to Dreamweaver but with it not officially supported on G4 Macs and all the menus at the top running way too slow, I needed to stick with what is officially supported for the G4 by Adobe, Dreamweaver CS3.
It is possible that future updates of DWCS4 will be more optimized and do OK on my G4. It is also possible that running my outdated version of Font Reserve 3.1.4, under Mac OS 10.4.11, is slowing down the menus on DWCS4 on my machine even Acrobat 7 Pro gives me slow menus with my current set up.
InDesign CS3 is fast enough on my system and IDCS4 runs just as fast as IDCS3 on my Dual MDD G4.
I don't think I will be getting an Intel-Mac desktop and laptop until 18 months from now.

Like kiusau, I'm wondering what your question is. But let me
    make this
suggestion. If you have no intention to learn HTML and CSS,
    then you will
be doing your clients a disservice by charging them for a
    website built
using a WYSIWYG approach. Have you considered partnering with
    a competent
web developer to provide this service to your customers? This
    could be a
win-win arrangement for all three of you.

  • Upgrade vs Full version of Dreamweaver CS3

    Several questions:
    1. I have DW MX 2004. If I upgrade to CS3 is it the same as
if I purchased a full new version of CS3? Will it function with
other users who have the new full version CS3 on their machines.
    2. If CS3 upgrade is the way to go. I presently have MX 2004

    upgrade CS3 on both machines?
    Thanks

  • Firefox 3.6.13 will not open as the browser to view web pages from within Dreamweaver CS3

I build websites with Dreamweaver CS3. I am operating on Mac OS 10.4.11 using Firefox 3.6.13 - The problem began on the last software update. I like to use Firefox instead of Safari. Up to the point where I upgraded, I never had a problem but now, when I go to preview/debug in browser, Firefox loads but it goes no farther than my home page ... it will not load the Dreamweaver page preview. Safari works fine. So I think there may be a problem loading 3.6.13 past the startup page.

Here's the fix. Dump Firefox 3.6.13 and Re-Install Firefox 3.5.16. Problem solved.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?

  • Floated element breaks Design view in Dreamweaver CS3

I've tried searching for this issue but haven't found a fix yet and could use some help.
I am redesigning a site and am adding a fluid box to the page. This floated element breaks Design View in Dreamweaver CS3 but appears correctly in the Firefox, Chrome, and IE.  I can get the element to appear correctly in Design View after I make minor changes to the page's HTML or CSS, however it always breaks when I save the file.
I've tried many work-arounds including adding an absoutely defined container div, altering the various div sizes, adding <div class="clear"> before and after the element, to no avail.
Ideally, I would like to have page appear correctly in Design View so that others in my lab can easily update the page (and not come to me with repeated questions!).
I've included screen prints of how it looks in Design View and how it look in Chrome.
    THANKS! J
    Design Time error:
    Web Browser - correct view:

I'll try CS4; however my main reason for finding a fix is so that others updating the page (w/ CS3) will be able to do so w/ the WYSIWYG editor that we purchased. We will not be upgrading to CS4 anytime soon either.
    Thanks

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Paste HTML Problem

If you want to paste the actual HTML code into a page, just
    switch to
    Code view, and paste.
Copy, cut, and paste in Dreamweaver are context-specific. If
    you copy a
section of a page in Design view, and paste it in Design
    view,
Dreamweaver automatically copies and pastes the underlying
    HTML. If you
copy in Code view, and paste into Design view, Dreamweaver
    assumes that
you want to display the code (as you might want to do in an
    online
tutorial), so it converts all the angle tags into HTML
    entities and
displays the tags and attributes in the page.
The simple rule is copy and paste from Code view to Code
    view, or from
    Design view to Design view.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4

Can someone tell me how to keep all of my spry settings that

  • Golive 6.0 to Dreamweaver CS3 or CS4

About a year ago I called customer service and asked if I upgraded Golive 6.0 to CS3 the migration kit would work, I actually still have the chat record with customer service where I specifically asked them if I could migrate. I was told yes so my company purchased Dreamweaver CS3. Of course when I tried the gl2dw migration, it didn't work and I opened a support ticket and went back and forth with support for weeks trying resolve the issue. I asked for a trial of golive 9 or cs2 so I could upgrade and they sent me invalid links. Finally after a few weeks I was just basically told too bad we can't help you, offered me a refund if I hadn't installed the software which of course I had. So I have had cs3 for over a year and haven't ever used it. Now I see CS4 is out and it says that you can migrate from golive 6.0. Is that really true? Have they ever fixed it so you can upgrade 6.0 to CS3? I can't even get the upgrade version for CS4 because I used my upgrade on CS3. I have a company website with over 500 web pages I need to convert. I really need to upgrade to DW and soon. My company buys thousands of dollars of software and licenses from adobe every year, we are a non profit agency and I can't keep spending money on things that don't work! This is extremely frustrating. HELP!

Making changes site wide can be accomplished 2 ways but in reality unless you are using a dynamic site that draws its page designs from a  central template page.
In retrospect you may want to consider creating a Library item first for anything you may want to change site wide (The first way). Being that you are not there yet you will probably want to use the Edit > Find and Replace from the menu bar (The second way).
Simply open up the file you have changed and another you have not. Next (assuming the option is not right in front of you) on the menu bar: View > Code and Design, making sure you can see both code and Design in both files. Then from the menu bar: Edit > Find and Replace. Copy the code regarding the object that you want to change making sure that you copy any opening and closing tags if appropriate from the unchanged file then paste in into the FIND box. Do the same with the file that you have changed except you will paste that into the REPLACE box also making sure that you have copied the same area.
Make sure Find and Replace Settings are:
Find in: Entire current local site
      Search: Source code
Then press the Replace All button.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Remote View file display

    Specs:
Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows XP Pro SP2.
    Upgraded from DreamWeaver MX
1680 x 1050 60Hz resolution on vertical display LCD panel
with the monitor turned/displayed verticle so I can view more of
    our site tree.
    Problem:
When viewing files in split panel display (Remote Site on the
left, Local Files on the right) my Remote Site display will
collapse upward...hiding files from view, but they are actually
still there: I can click Refresh and the tree expands again: After
several seconds or sometimes immediately portions of the
    folders/files will collapse/hide again.
It will do this to files I have selected. It will hide files
I have checked out. The worst of it is that sometimes files will
hide or collapse within sub-folders..giving the appearance that
files are stored in incorrect folders.
    Thank you for your time

Can you explain the symptoms in more detail? Mixing the use
    of DW8 with
DWCS3 would not make remote files appear and disappear.

  • Can someone with Dreamweaver cs3 open a cs5 file?

    Hi:
Work just upgraded me to DreamWeaver CS5 but I work on files that I share with another web author and they have DreamWeaver CS3.  If I edit a file and save it in DreamWeaver 5, will the other author be able to open the file in DreamWeaver CS3?  I have not loaded my new software at work yet because I was afraid there might be a problem.    This is our work intranet so I need to be careful I don't screw the site up. We save our files with the extension .shtml.
    Thanks
    Jeff

Yes, provided you use DW's Check In/Check Out feature so that you don't overwrite each other's work.
There are no proprietary file formats like Microsoft Office.
HTML code is HTML code and can be read by any human being or text editor.
The only caveats are if you use emerging technologies such as HTML5. CS5 can handle that but CS3 will struggle.

  • Does Dreamweaver CS3 work with 64 bit version of Windows 7?

Windows 7, 64 bit, Home Premium was clean installed.  I had no difficulty reinstalling Dreamweaver CS3, but when I try to open a file I get a message that  says." A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  Apparently none is.  So my question is, does Dreamweaver CS3 work with the 64 bit version of Windows 7?  If not, does CS4 work or would I be wasting money by upgrading?

I just installed it and ran it fine.  I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Make sure it is a clean install from a fresh "boot".  I ran into problems the first time when I tried to install it right after I installed another program.  I simply uninstalled it.....which took a long long time, but after it was removed and I rebooted, everything went fine.
