Dreamweaver CS4 Beta

Has anyone else had trouble activating the CS4 Beta with
their CS3 serial? Is the activation server having issues again?
They have made some funky changes!

The DW CS4 forum is here:

You do not use your CS3 serial number in CS4. You get a new
serial number from the following using your CS3 serial number:

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Beta

Once again Adobe is costing us financially and emotionally. We installed the beta version of dreamweaver CS4 now we've just bought the creative suite and it won;t install. We get this message that the beta is still installed and nust be uninstalled. We've uninstall the beta using several programs even cleaning the registry and it won;t remove the beta. This has cost me 6 hours and a lot of swear words. I must admit I am an adobe hater, I hate everything about this company and the way they have evolved into a Quark-like company. All i need is someone here to tell me how to remove this cs 4 dreamweaver software so I can upgrade and make a living. I am running windows xp.

I tried but nothing works, we are a real company with real people not some 14 year old in his basement manipulating photos. I installed the beta about two weeks ago, now when we try to install we get this message that there is a beta or a pre realease version that must be reinstalled. Where the &*&%^$ is this software? I am not getting it, how many more hours must adobe cost me. I am so f-ing pissed now. there is never an easy solution, this happened with fireworks a few years ago now as the head designer around here I must simply switch computers, adobe had totally f-uped my system. Gosh if I could only fined the file that this installer is seeing, I simply don;t know what else to do. I installed the beta version of dreamweacver cs 4 not the entire suite

  • I am running Dreamweaver CS4. I recently installed ADDT-CS4-101-beata. How do I uninstall ADDT-CS4-101-Beta?

I just installed ADDT-CS4-101-beta, and now I keep getting the Dreamweaver error message "While executing onLoad in ADDT_onOpen.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
At line 29 of file "C:\program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration\Commands\ADDT_0nOpen.js": ADDT is not defined.
I am in the very early stages of trying to learn this program. I thought that ADDT-CS4-101-beta was a tool box of add ons. So I installed it, and now I keep getting this error message. I am running WINXP Pro with SP3. I thought I would uninstall this program, and everything would go back to normal, and I could continue my learning process, and install this program later, after I had a better idea of what the heck was going on.
How do I correct this problem? I checked in the WinXP control panel, using "Uninstall Programs", and ADDT-CS4 is not there.

Still fighting this battle of trying to reinstall CS4 Extension Manager. The problem is that I can not get rid of the previous installation. When I tried to uninstall it using WinXP Pro Control Panel/Add/remove it would fail to remove it. Then I used a software program "Perfect Uninstaller" to remove it, and that seemed to have worked. I say (seemed to have worked), because after I rebooted, I checked Start/programs, and CS4 Extension Manager was no longer shown in the listings. Then I went to Control Panel/Add/Remove, and it no longer was listed. Sooooooo I thought I had everything licked, and I doubled clicked on the Setup.exe file of the newely downloaded CS4 Extension Manager, an it ran through the "Checking Profile", and then started the "Setup Program", and gave me the same old message "System Check" "Adobe Extension Manager CS4 is already installed on this machine."
"To reinstall please run the installer which performed the original installation."
I think that it was originall installed when I installed Photoshop CS3, or Photoshop CS4. I can not find my disc for Photoshop CS4. I have the disc for Photoshop CS3, but when I checked that disc for the Extension Manager, I could not find it. Is there any program that will totally rmove the original Extension Manager. Once I can reinstall Extension Manager, I will be able to remove ADDT-CS4-101.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 having issues after installing PS CS6 Beta

    Hi All,
I'm having issues with Dreamweaver CS4 after installing Photoshop CS6 Beta. I'm getting the follwing erros when trying to open any html file (see attached image).
Once I click OK, the file will open, also now; any copy and paste commands will not work. Anyone else experiencing any problems with other apps after installing this beta version?
Any help and feedback is much appreciated, thanks!

Re :Re: Dreamweaver CS4 having issues after installing PS CS6 Beta
    Just a thought ...
    This may help!
Uninstall the Beta Version of Photoshop CS6 now and then restart your computer and see if that works.
Open the CS4 programs and see if that fixed the problem and it is all working as it should again.
    It is worth a try!
    All the best.

  • I upgraded from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS6. but now "an TFP error occured - cannot make connection to host". I spent hours with the host technician and we cant find the error. I reinstalled DW4 and it connects to host perfectly. Anyone else seen this problem?

I upgraded from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS6. but now when I want to upload I get "an TFP error occured - cannot make connection to host". I spent hours with the host technician and we cant find the error. I reinstalled DW4 and it connects to host perfectly. Anyone else seen this problem?
    Mac OS 10.8.5
None of these issues are causing the error in DW CS6. We have double checked all of them and we have everything exactly right. Also I have exactly the same SiteSetup in DW CS4 and that works perfectly well. Could there must be factor in 6 that didn't exist in 4? Something that isnt in the SiteSetup but in some hidden dialog box ?
I can also upload to my host using Fetch, a third party FTP. And as I said DW CS4 works fine. So the problem is not with my host, its with DW CS6 in particular.

Thank you Jon, that fixed it perfectly. You have saved me from going crazy. The only difference I see now is in "Server Name" it changed what I had entered (my ftp address) to "Remote Server"; which seems odd -- but it works!   Although I know there maybe also some other dialog box I have never seen
Of course I saw that menu item "Import"  and but I thought thats obviously not for me: "Why would I want to import an entire website?". I did not however see "Export the selected site" for thats only a tiny icon in the footer. However I would have thought the same:  "Why would I want to export my entire website?".
An observation: I've seen this problem in a lot of Adobe software, the menu-names of items are  obscure, non descriptive. What would be better would be for the menu names or popups to say "Export Site Setup settings" and "Import Site Setup settings"

  • HELP DREAMWEAVER CS4 NOT SHOWING SWF FILES

I have a presentation in 2 days in Tokyo. And I'm panicking.
I'm on am Intel Mac OS X 10.4.11.
I have the latest version of Flash Player 10 installed. (Not the brand new beta version).
I created a great website in Dreamweaver MX a few years ago.
I never had ANY issues with .swf files displaying until using Dreamweaver CS4.
I updated my photography portfolios in Adobe Bridge, and used Dreamweaver CS4 to link the updates.
    NOTHING MORE THAN THAT!
Then, NONE of the .swf files that were always viewable are showing.
There is absolutely NO Flash content showing on any page of the site now.
Not even in browser view in Safari, or Firefox.
I uploaded the files along with the newly created SCRIPTS folder to my server, and still no .swf files are viewable.
These are NOT FLV files they are .swf files that were imbedded properly, and were always viewable. Until now.
I have to go to Tokyo in two days and give a presentation of this site.
    What is the problem?
The attached files show the view in Dreamweaver CS4. The view in Safari, and the view in Firefox.
I'm screwed for a desperately needed job in Tokyo if I can't get this fixed ASAP.
    Please help.

i think you are on to something here. but i am not sure how to go about fixing this.
    are you saying the "../s
    should be replaced with "S
where is this code located? in the source code of each page that has the swf files? i should replace it with the correct version you copy and pasted? and that should resolve the problem?
big thanks if this is the issue.
    <script src="../scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
The correct link to that file would be this -
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Note the "S" in place of the "s".  *nix servers are case sensitive.

  • Using a MsAccess database with Dreamweaver CS4?

    Hi Everyone,
I have a question concerning using a Microsoft Access Database with Dreamweaver.
First, I was wondering if this was possible. Second, if it is, could someone give me instructions or a link on how to do this. I am pretty new to Dreamweaver, code, etc..., so simpler instructions on how to acheive this would be great.
    Here is some information...
    1) I am running Windows XP SP2
    2) I am using Microsoft Office 2003 (Acces included)
    3) I am using Dreamweaver CS4
    4) I have installed XAMMP (Apache,MySQL, FileZilla, and PHPmyAdmin, as far as I know)
If anyone needs more information, I'll be hapy to share it as soon as possible.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Musicman1994

The choice of database really depends on which server-side technology you plan to use, and what you're actually planning to use it for.
Access was designed to create databases for small office systems. Although I personally found it very confusing, a lot of people like it and say it's easy to use. However, its major drawback is that it creates very large files; and as soon as the website gets a reasonable amount of traffic, Access has a tendency to freeze or lock up. You can create your database in Access and then export it to another database system, such as Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL. But it's better to start with the database that you ultimately plan using.
I certainly wouldn't recommend developing anything in ASP and then attempting to convert the website to PHP. Although all server-side programs share common features and structures, the code is completely different. So, take some time over choosing your technology first. If you have never developed in ASP, you should be aware that Microsoft stopped developing it about ten years ago. It's still popular and widely available, but ASP is likely to dwindle in usefulness as the years go by. Use PHP or ColdFusion, both of which are supported by Dreamweaver. The other main alternative is ASP.NET, but that's no longer supported by Dreamweaver.

  • Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disapear

Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disappear.
When adding bold in design view (strong) to two words at the start of my paragraph the last line of the paragraph disappears. This is somewhat worrying as it means any editing I do in dreamweaver could do massive amounts of damage to the content.
We are pasting the original content into the code view so as to strip the formating Dreamweaver then decides to take the last line break in the source code paragraph and then delete it see example below:
<p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aenean dignissim nisi id risus varius ut scelerisque massa consectetur. Vestibulum non tortor augue, sit amet dictum lacus. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Curabitur ultrices felis et dui tincidunt sit amet tristique est pulvinar. Nulla a lectus quis erat ornare ultricies. Sed ac elementum magna. Nulla aliquet accumsan nulla. In dictum accumsan tortor eget consequat. Suspendisse potenti.
So when applying Strong with the Bold button in the design view to the first words 'Lorem ipsum' the last part of the paragraph 'lobortis vehicula lacinia interdum odio' will be deleted. Bizare and very dangerous especially for Annual Report content.
Any experience of similar or solutions would be greatly received.
PS. I have restarted, repaired permissions, checked dreamweaver is up to date trashed plist's and removed duplicate fonts.

It could be a problem in the templates.
In all honesty, I just tried pasting text into the Design section of a page.
It doesn't even work on my Mac, and it took three tries to get it to actually paste in VIsta.
I had to go to the code and reformat it after it did paste, but it eventually went.
I don't work with templates much.
Well, that actually makes me feel a little better, if it makes sense to feel better to learn that it could be the expensive software and not just us. I guess I will view this as an opportunity to improve me coding speed :-) Thanks for the feedback.

  • I can't install dreamweaver CS4

You can't just trash Adobe apps. You need to uninstall them.
Now you'll need to hunt down the CS4 clean script and run that.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 strange issues happening

Suddenly when I do a find and replace and I do a carriage return in the replace portion of the find/replace window to make my edit go to an extra line, the carriage return occurs behind it on the page I'm editing. It doesn't add a <p> tag in the document, just kind of highlights what I have in the find window and each time I hit Enter the next instance of the what I'm trying to find gets highlighted.
    Also, when I try to add <strong> tags to my document this appears on the page instead &lt;strong&gt;
    What the hell?
I tried recreating my configuration folder (I'm on Windows Vista) but it still happens.
    Any ideas??

  • Trial version of Dreamweaver CS4 for testing - co-exist with CS3?

I am very interested in trying InContext.  However it requires Dreamweaver CS4 to do anything.  I noted a way to download a trial version.  My concern however is that I have the CS3 version installed, and I need to know if the two can co-exist or if loading CS4 is going to disable/remove CS3.  It would be helpful to know if the same answer applies for both Mac and Windows cases.
If InContext either is not a better solution to my needs that Contribute, or if the costs are too high then I would not anticipate buying the CS4 version (apparently I would have to upgrade the whole CS3 Master Collection I have in order to accomplish that - no small expense) and I don't want to run into a problem.

    Hello Bobxyzyy,
Yes, you can install the Dreamweaver CS4 trial without affecting your installation of Dreamweaver CS3 on both Mac and Windows. They will install into separate directories by default.
    Best regards,

  • Dreamweaver CS4 in one Window (Application Frame)

    Hello,
in the new Creative Suite every Programm has the new
"Application Frame" Feature, so that the whole program is running
in one Window. Only in Dreamweaver CS4 I can´t find an option
to run the software in one Window (and not a lot of small windows).
I had the Beta version of Dreamweaver CS4 and there it was
standard - that the Software runs in Application Frame-Mode but in
the full Version it runs like the workspace in CS3.

Application Frame is Mac only. For some reason, it was not
    incorporated
into Dreamweaver CS4. I don't know why it's not available in
    DW, but you
can stop looking for it, because it's not there. (I checked
    with Adobe

  • Is separate graphics card needed for Dreamweaver CS4?

My PC (an HP Pavilion a1120n) meets the stated system
requirements for Dreamweaver CS4, except that it has integrated
graphics (max of 128MB) instead of a separate video card. I can
easily upgrade to 4MB of RAM. Could anyone please tell me whether
Dreamweaver will run on my machine, or whether I need to invest in
a new PC. A potential free-lance job rides on this question. Many
    thanks!

To be honest, all you really need is a crappy old computer
    and Notepad.
I'll admit that this may be a really bare-bones way to start,
    though.
In my opinion, the best was would be to get the Adobe
    Creative Suite 4 Web
Premium package. It is a pricey bird, though ($1,699 domestic
    for a full
copy - not upgrade). I'm assuming you want to stick with

  • Adobe download manager and Dreamweaver CS4

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to Adobe and new to web site design and development.
I'm in the process of trying out Dreamweaver CS4 but during the free trial download, I'm contantly asked to download/buy Adobe download manager.
Do I need to have this application even when I buy the boxed retail full version?
    Any help/advice much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Marilyn

You don't need Adobe Download manager. The service it provides is useful if you have a slow connection that is likely to drop the connection mid download. Download manager resumes the download where it left off so "theoretically" you don't have to start over.  This is not 100% reliable however, but gives you a better shot at it.  If you have a good stable connection you don't really need it, and of course if you buy the boxed version you don't need it at all.
