Dreamweaver CS4 Mac - Welcome Screen Is Blank Under Network Account

This is a new installation of Dreamweaver CS4 on a computer running Mac OS X 10.5.7 in a computer lab environment.  All updates have been applied.  Users' home folders are hosted via AFP on a server running Mac OS X Server 10.5.7.  The "welcome screen" window that appears after launching Dreamweaver CS4 is blank for users using network accounts (both admin and non-admin).  The welcome screen appears correctly when launched from within a local accounts (admin or non-admin).  The welcome screen window can be closed and then the application appears to run just fine.  Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution?

Some clues: Apparently, the "welcome screen" is an .swf file located in each user's home directory here:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration/Content/Welcome/Flash/welcome.swf
I can open this file in Flash or Flash Player under a network account and it looks just fine, yet it won't load when Dreamweaver CS4 is launched, resulting in a blank, white "welcome screen."
For now, I've decided to push a default preferences file to new users that turns off the welcome screen, but I'd prefer to find a fix. Anyone have any clues?

Hi, any help would be appreciated.
    Dreamweaver CS4 Mac – non-startup – Error: 150:30

  • My Mac's screen is blank white when starting up...Help!

This afternoon my web browser suddenly did not response. I had to shut down the computer by holding the power button.
Then I restarted up my Mac and the screen became blank gray, and then a flashing question mark.
Did some research, found a solution and followed: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440.
I met a trouble on the fourth step: Click the First Aid tab. The "repair disk" button is unavailable. After clicking the "verify disk permissions", First Aid failed because of "no valid packages".
Then, I tried to install Mac OS X. However, no destination volume showed up in "select a destination" page.
At this time, I feel exhausted and disappointed>_<. People here are so nice, so I am looking for some advices: what is my Mac's problem? How to fix it? Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
Recently i also got this flashing question mark error. The apple told me that its an Internal HD error.
Well how common is that with the macbook ?
The apple did changed my Internal HD ( for free). New one - Hitachi. I also have backup on my External HDD where the latest backup was 2 weeks before my Intenal HD crashed.
Is it safe to do the system restore completely on my new internal HD without causing any new problems ? As i have heard that the complete system restore can give lot of trouble.
And one more question, after getting repair, am I eligible to apply for Apple Care protection Plan ?
My warranty expires on 26th January 2010.
    Thank you

  • LIcensing has stopped working DreamWeaver CS4 Mac OS 10.9.4

    Have followed instructions here
Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Mac OS
    as much as possible.
Solution 1: I don't have [hard drive]/Library/Preferences/FlexNet Publisher/ on my hard drive so can't delete it.
Solution 2: Have tried to run license repair tool in terminal. I type sudo python then drag LicenseRecoveryLauncher.app across, but get invalid syntax returned.
I haven't gone any further than this.
I did have adobe photoshop cc trial on this machine, which I deleted and wonder whether this has now screwed up Dreamweaver (I don't use it so much these days).
    Any help gratefully received, Tim

    Hi magootim,
Can you try the solutions in this post?
Dreamweaver CS4 keeps showing a licensing error 150:30. Any ideas?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 (Mac)crashing

Dreamweaver CS4 crashes after opening an existing file, it
also crashes after a blank html file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled DW CS4 and still have the
    problem.
    Jim

In my experience, 99% of crashes in dreamweaver are caused by
    3rd party extensions.
Remove all of your extensions and see what happens. Add them
back one at a time until you find the trouble maker.
CS4 breaks a lot of the old extensions, and causes javascript
errors since thats how extensions are written. Hope that
    helps!

  • Adobe dreamweaver cs4 mac codeansicht?

    hi leute,

Here is what I discovered to solve the crashing issue with Adobe CS4 Dreamweaver. It seems to be the contents of this folder.
    Users/Yourshortname/Library/Preferences/MacroMedia/FlashPlayer/FlashPlayerTrust/
The files in here are hidden and can be seen via terminal.  Once I went over every file on this machine, I narrowed it down to this folder, you can narrow it down even more and fine out which file is corrupted, I didnt have the time.
This stopped CD4 Dreamweaver from crashing on a clients mac running 10.5.8
    Hope it helps

adobe illustrator CC welcome screen appears blank

Hi, see my reply at a similar discussion: Re: Welcome screens do not load - ID, PS, AI. I hope it helps.

  • I don't get an option to create new Dreamweaver site on welcome screen in CC. Is there a way to get this?

It's ok I'm following a tutorial on Lynda.com. Its maybe a little out of date, I just went into the Site menu and clicked "New Site". Hey Presto!

    Hello Keith,
if I understand you correctly, you miss this ("neu erstellen") >>> something like create new:
You can get this by using (translated from my German DW) preferences (Voreinstellungen) and there put the tick at "Show welcome screen" (Begrüßungsbildschirm anzeigen):

  • Screen Sharing Broken for Network Account Admins Mac OS X Server

    Re: OS X 10.8.4, Server.app 2.2.1
After replacing a failed Airport Extreme -- and the resulting changes in server IP address -- Screen sharing is now broken for "Network" account administrators. "Local" adminstrators can screen share successfully.
When logging in as a Local Admin, the System Log contains a single entry:
Authentication: SUCCEEDED :: User Name: localadmin :: Viewer Address: 10.0.1.6 :: Type: DH
When logging as a Network Admin, a similar line appears:
Authentication: SUCCEEDED :: User Name: testnetwork :: Viewer Address: 10.0.1.6 :: Type: DH
followed by screen-fulls of other log messages, eventually ending -- a minute or two later -- with:
    screensharingd[77693]: uid 1034 not found
screensharingd[77693]: unable to get width and height of display.
at which point the client sees a "Error: Network connection lost." alert. 1034 is the UID of "testnetwork", as seen in
    dscl /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 -list /Users UniqueID
So apparently, Network users are authenticated, but screensharingd cannot find the user.
changeip -checkhostname returns "success". Just to be sure, I  "Updated the Host Name" as suggested by the "Network Configuration Has Changed" alert in Server.app -- problem remains.
How does one debug this? Are there more comprehensive debug logging options available for screensharingd or login window? Anyone else seen this problem?

    Linc: thanks for your inquiry.
Here are more steps I've taken to solve this problem:
    1) From a Time Machine backup to a test partition, I restored the server from before the failure of the base station and found that the login problems were present then.
    2) On yet another test partition, I created from scratch a new OS X Server. Added a local administrator, and a network admistrator and discovered the same problem: network administrators cannot screen share, although in this case, they are simply unauthorized.
Using dscl, things look OK: there is a /Local/Default/Groups/com.apple.access_screensharing that lists only the admin group, and the admin group contains networkAdmin.
Furthermore, I can log in as the networkadmin from the login window, as "Other".
Furthermore, I can ssh into the server using the networkadmin credential.
I used odutil to boost the logging OpenDirectory log level. The logs are very verbose, but to my eyes, it looks like OD recognizes the networkUser, but screensharingd fails to authorize. See logs below.
Can someone confirm that screen sharing from network admin accounts works at all? Is there a way to elevate screensharingd logging to find out more about why it rejects network admins?
    TIA

  • Dreamweaver CS4 (Mac OS X) window disappears from desktop

this is actually not a Dreamweaver-specific problem, because it applies to all Adobe CS4 products. But it is most irritating with Dreamweaver, because users often need to look at Dreamweaver windows at the same time as other applications (such as a web browser)
Since CS4 (and maybe also CS3) but not the older versions, opened Dreamweaver window(s) disappear from the desktop whenever another application is activated or selected.  This makes it extremely difficult to view both Dreamweaver code/windows, and any other application unless that other application's window is first positioned in such a way that you can see it, but don't need to click on it, then you click on the Dreamweaver application.
This does not happen with any other non-Adobe application - the whole point of having large screens, multiple windows and multiple processors is to be able to do more at the same time.
Even without explicitly leaving Dreamweaver, this is a problem, because, if I perform a file comparison between the local and remote file, the opendiff application will be launched; the Dreamweaver file window is still on the desktop for that time. But, the moment I close the opendiff window, all Dreamweaver windows disappear. I have to go to the dock and click on the icon to bring back the window.
You can imagine how annoying and time consuming this is if you're performing a number of file comparisons, as I have to do often.
I therefore prefer to use my old version which did not behave this way.
I could not find any setting in preferences to change this behavior.  Is there a chance this will be fixed someday?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Your Desktop is just a folder, but it's not like any other folder on your HD. The more "crap" you keep on it, the slower your system will run, because Windows Explorer (not the browser - the one that opens and manages all of your windows) interacts with it ALL THE TIME so the more stuff it has to go through to run DW, or Photoshop or Windows Media Player or whatever, the bigger the drag on WIndows. The same for Mac OS X and FInder.
Put your site(s) in their own folder in your documents where the most active folder on your HD doesn't have to constantly update with every letter you type in a page.

  • Mac Mini, screen share setup over network out of the box?

    Greetings,
Is it possible to screen share and setup a new Mac Mini out of the box? Ultimately, I'm trying to figure out if I really need to purchase a separate screen just to setup the machine.

  • Menus.xml issue when trying to launch Dreamweaver CS4

I have used Dreamweaver CS4 for many years on my Mac. I had a drive failure and have had to reload all of my applications from scratch as there seemed to be an issue with the Time Machine back up. Everything is working well apart from Dreamweaver CS4 which brings up an error message telling me to delete my menus.xml file and rename menus.bak to menus.xml which just doesn't work.
I have checked and this has been asked before but none of the previous answers that I could find will work for me. Any new ideas?

One issue appears to be that Dreamweaver has loaded the help and configurations files into a folder in applications rather than in application support. I do not have a Dreamweaver CS4 folder anywhere in applications support under my identity or than of the loacl admin.
You need to turn on your hidden folders to see it.
