Dreamweaver CS4 Not Loading

Hi, Im having problems loading Dreamweaver CS4, when i open the software all i get is the windows loading mouse cursor then nothing. Dreamweaver is showing in task manager under processes but does not allow me to do anything except end process. I have tried all the idea's on the Adobe help site, these included removing the Winfilecach-xxxx.dat file. Also renaming the Dreamweaver CS4 folder to old and then removing the CS4 key from regedit and restarting Dreamweaver did not fix the problem.
I have not tried to uninstall the software and reinstall yet as im unable to find the product key.
Software installed - Adobe Suite CS4 which all the software seems to be working fine just dreamweaver is not loading.
Dreamweaver is running on a 64bit version of Windows 7 professional. I have not had any problems with the software for over a year just this morning it has decided not to load. Have tried restarting the computer which then allowed me to load up a file, once i closed the file and restarted Dreamweaver same problem started occuring again.
Any help will be much appreaciated
Chris

Thanks for the link, i have tried what was suggested but this still hasnt fixed the problem. The software does however load up when used under a different profile.
Chris that sounds like a corrupt user profile from the OS.  This happens from time-to-time where the files/folders/permissions of the user library get corrupted and the recommended solution is migrating data to another user account on the computer.  Eventually you delete the old user account once you have moved everything moved to the new one.

  • No Fix for Dreamweaver CS4 not loading?

I am seeing more and more recently that people are experiencing the crashing DW effect. Does anyone have a fix for this, or are we stuck until adobe finally corrects the issue? I have read tons of posts on here and other forums, but nothing seems to fix the problem. All I know, my DW worked fine for a very long time, and all of a sudden it no longer loads. When trying to start the program I get an immediate crash (doesn't let the program even get to the splash screen). Now this happens all the time, and I have tried every fix I have read about so far. I even formatted and started all over from scratch. I only installed adobe products after the format, and let the updater do its thing. Once I did this, DW started crashing all over again. This is definately a problem that needs to be corrected ASAP. I see a current download for CS5 to fix the crashing with that program, but nothing even remote to fixing CS4. Has anyone experience these problems after an adobe update?

Yes, I think it is the installer doing something as well.  Here is what I did.... I have been using the download link from my account on adobe to install dreamweaver cs4. After numerous times of not working I tried install the new cs 5.5 and it works like a charm.  After this I tried installing my old dw 8 and it also works like a charm. So, after 2 versions installed that work, I have come to the conclusion that the cs4 download from adobe has to be the problem. Once I figured this, I called support. Let me tell you, this was the most terrible experience ever. 3 and a half hours of numerous people connecting to me and transfering me back and forth to get no end result. I called again today (1 and a half more hours), another rep connects and does everything the others did to no solution once again. I say look 3 people, 2 supervisors and nothing is fixed, can you just give me another version (cs3, cs5, cs5.5, ANYTHING) so I can get back to work. Basically I am told they are going to escalate and I now have to wait for another call back and go through all the same steps as before. Adobe is seriously lacking in customer support or appreciation for buying these expensive products.
To break it down, 3 people connected...uninstalled, installed, deleted a ton of stuff, reinstalled, created a new user account disabled all start up services and installed dreamweaver and still isnt fixed. They have tried everything, and they cant fix it.... 2 of them even said the installer seems to not be doing something correctly, and the other tried to feed me a line of bull saying dreamweaver cs4 wasnt supporting vista 64??? I had to laugh and explain that I am running fw cs4 and acrobat pro 8 and flash and other progs that work just fine on vista 64 lol.

Dreamweaver CS4 wont load - I get a runtime error with the following message.
The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
I am running Windows 7. This error came out of the blue. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 not working under MacOS 10.9

on starting DW CS4 it asks for Java Runtime engine 6, but Mavericks has Java v.7 installed. Since Java 6 was part of the OS of previous systems, I cannot install it seperately, besides it would probably cause conflicts with OS 10.9. Do I have to trash my DW, or is there a workaround.
    Thanx

If I follow click the instal button on
I get the progress bar for about 1 sec and then the message about a supposed
    network problem
which is unreal, since my network works perfectly for any other task and I
had even tried disabling the firewall and little snitch. Things are still
    not working

Has anyone seen this and have a fix?  The conent folder is in place; I've uninstalled/reboot/installed/reboot two or three times now and still get the error.
    Much appreciated.

@spookie_ie  :  You must be having a folder with the same name as your volume
On Mac, if a folder in any volume has the same name as the volume:
You cannot open the related files of a Dreamweaver site.
The Welcome screen of Dreamweaver does not load.
    Refer : https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/known-issues-dreamweaver-131.html
Please rename any such folder of that sort , you will be able to see the Eelcome screen load fine

  • Dreamweaver cs4 not responding

    Hi,
I have just installed CS4 on my work computer which has a Windows OS.
I am finding that when I open files in Dreamwever  from the local site, i get a "not responding" message from the task manager and the files take 1-2 mins to open.
Even moving between open *.xhtml files takes 1-2 mins!
I have followed advice on some adobe support pages and upped the page file size, performed a disk cleanup, recreated the Configuration folder in my profile version of Dreamweaver CS4, installed all the latest updates - with no luck
The local version of the site is quite large with over 350 files.
In the Dreamweaver site conifig have also attempted turning of the site cache and removing the remote server setup. (also turned off the check in/out feature)
    This did not help either.
The local version of this site is on a network server which is accessed via a mapped drive on my pc - this requires a username and password when i first connect to it, but after the initial connection it does not prompt me again.
I have another local site with files stored on my C: drive which i have no problem opening whatsoever.
    Can anyone pleeeeeease help!
This is preventing me from working in Dreamweaver at all....
The next alternative for me is to copy the local site files to my pc for working on - which is really not a good idea as it is not backed up.
    any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks Jon very much for your suggestion.
I work on a Macintosh iMac with a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running on 2GB 667 MHz memory. I am running no extensions on Dreamweaver.!
I usually pull down any files from my clients' servers then work on the files locally. Once I am happy that the files have been altered appropriately I then send them back up to the server.
Up till now the files have worked relatively well although they can take a little while to load. I notice that if I view the files in code only there is no problem but since I am fundamentally a designer I like to see what it is I am doing and tend to avoid working with the files in code.
I have done exactly what you have suggested although I have done that before thinking it would 'clear out' the system. Sadly, despite my meticulous attention to removing all the files associated with Dreamweaver the problem still persists.
There are some points to note in all this. While trying to pin down the problem I have noticed that it is the larger file sizes that jam Dreamweaver BUT it is a relative problem. Big files on one of the clients sites are small files on other client sites - one minute it will not open a 50k file for one client the next it will be a 372k file on another site that stalls!
It is interesting just how many people there are out there having the same issues that I appear to be having.
    Thanks for all your help
If I come up with a solution I'll let you know.

  • HELP DREAMWEAVER CS4 NOT SHOWING SWF FILES

I have a presentation in 2 days in Tokyo. And I'm panicking.
I'm on am Intel Mac OS X 10.4.11.
I have the latest version of Flash Player 10 installed. (Not the brand new beta version).
I created a great website in Dreamweaver MX a few years ago.
I never had ANY issues with .swf files displaying until using Dreamweaver CS4.
I updated my photography portfolios in Adobe Bridge, and used Dreamweaver CS4 to link the updates.
    NOTHING MORE THAN THAT!
Then, NONE of the .swf files that were always viewable are showing.
There is absolutely NO Flash content showing on any page of the site now.
Not even in browser view in Safari, or Firefox.
I uploaded the files along with the newly created SCRIPTS folder to my server, and still no .swf files are viewable.
These are NOT FLV files they are .swf files that were imbedded properly, and were always viewable. Until now.
I have to go to Tokyo in two days and give a presentation of this site.
    What is the problem?
The attached files show the view in Dreamweaver CS4. The view in Safari, and the view in Firefox.
I'm screwed for a desperately needed job in Tokyo if I can't get this fixed ASAP.
    Please help.

i think you are on to something here. but i am not sure how to go about fixing this.
    are you saying the "../s
    should be replaced with "S
where is this code located? in the source code of each page that has the swf files? i should replace it with the correct version you copy and pasted? and that should resolve the problem?
big thanks if this is the issue.
    <script src="../scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
The correct link to that file would be this -
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Note the "S" in place of the "s".  *nix servers are case sensitive.

  • Contribute CS4 Not loading new CSS

I've been having a problem with contribute cs4, I've done new changes to the the CSS stylesheet and looks good in all browsers but when I log in into contribute it is still loading the old, I added some comments to the code in the template to see if they will show up on view source in contribute and nothing, it is not loading any new changes done to the css file or the templates or any other pages it is still caching the old stuff, I try closing and re-opening contribute, restarting my computer and still nothing this is frustrating!!
Any ideas to force contribute to dump the cache and re-load the new files?

Have you tried a force refresh (Shift+Refresh)?
You didn't rename the CSS file did you?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 not opening in Mountain Lion

My old iMac crashed.  I bought a new one with Mountain Lion and restored files from backup.
Dreamweaver will not open.  Gives error code 150:30.  Says my licensing has expired.
    Now what?

"Save As Adobe PDF" works fine in Snow Leopard.
Thanks for the link, but this is no help - I already have "Save As Adobe PDF" on the menu - the problem is when I click that it errors out...
I just think its sad that Adobe charges people $2000 and provides zero support for future updates; when I buy an iMac for half that amount of money or an iPhone I get operating system support and bug fix downloads to deal with the latest internet advances for years to come - but Adobe apparently takes your money and says sayonara! Is it really that hard to provide updates on $2000 worth of software for say 24 months??

  • Dreamweaver CS4 not responding well on Mac

I just upgraded to CS4 yesterday. It seems every other thing I do in Dreamweaver, it doesn't respond to my click, then turns to the colorful spinning disc for a minimum of 10 seconds. This is for nearly every click action... it is very annoying and inefficient. I deleted the configuration files but that didn't work. This same problem happened periodically in CS3 as well, but appears much worse now. Any ideas? I'm on a Mac Pro, OS 10.5.7 with 4 GB of RAM.

Thanks Jon very much for your suggestion.

  • Dreamweaver suddenly not loading jquery files

I've been working on customizing a website and everything was working absolutely perfectly. All the jquery files were being loaded and all the effects were working as they should. I purchased a template that already had all the jquery.js files properly scripted, as I've never written javascript or anything like that. I can edit html and css, but other types of code are very unfamiliar to me.
Anyway, a few weeks back, I closed up dreamweaver for the night with every element of my web page functional. The next morning, I installed an update to the Dreamweaver software, and that's where the problems began. I changed absolutely nothing about my previously functional files, but when I went to edit my site after the update, my drop-down navigation bar, my automated roundabout, prettyPhoto effects and nivo-slider were no longer working. All I get is a string of images with no css applied and no functionality for the roundabout and nivo-slider, only the titles for the drop-down nav, and the prettyPhoto simply opens the image in a new window with no formatting or functionality.
I wrote regular Adobe support first, but they said they couldn't help me because it's a scripting/coding issue, and I've tried reinstalling Dreamweaver from my original install disk, but the problem persists.
I really need some assistance addressing this issue and will gladly provide the code or anything else anyone needs to look over in order to diagnose the issue.
    Thanks!

You need to make sure ALL the relevant files (css and js) are uploaded to the correct places on your remote web server:
This one (jquery.cycle.css) is not where the link says it is:
    http://birkeloart.com/_include/css/jquery.cycle.css
Whilst this one (jquery.roundabout.css) IS where the link says it is:
    http://birkeloart.com/_include/css/jquery.roundabout.css
There's a lot of scripts and css files so you'll have to go through them one by one.

  • Dreamweaver will not load after adding too big a site

So i wanted to load my entire projects folder into one giant
project, i thought this would help in keep track of items using
common includes. well, dreamweaver crashed on building cache, and
    now i can't re-open it.
i thought if i could remove the sites list that will allow
dreamweaver to re-start. can anyone help me to do that?

    > *BUMP*
you didn't give an OS or dw version.
as a guess, on cs3 and windows xp it would be around here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver
    9\Configuration\SiteCache
delete the xxx.dws file with that site's name.
note- when you restart dw- it will then try to rebuild the
    site cache.
If there is a corrupt file IN this local site folder that's
    causing the
folder- it will bung up again.
so- suggestion: rename the local site folder on the hard
    drive before doing
this. dw will give an error message that it can't find the
    site folder. but
    it will start up.
    second suggestion:
corrupt site cache files can result from having the large
    original files
like .psd and .png and .fla files in the site folder.
