Dreamweaver CS5.5 Template - Main menu button not going to correct page link

Hi,
Please help me, as i am new to Adobe Dreamweaver.
I created a website in Dreamweaver CS3, then recently changed to CS5.5, firstly i couldn't get the templates to update, but by playing around i managed to get the template up update all the pages. #
I am now having problems when i click on the link in the website, it seems to be looking in the templates folder for the html page.

Pages that i am having problems with when i click in the menu buttons : Male Waxing, Contact Us & Find us,
This is sometimes working but most of the time comes up with: 'Page cannot be found' and when looking at the URL it is e.g http://www.malegroominglounge.co.uk/Templates/malewaxing.html
Why is it looking at the templates folder?
I have checked the template file in menu url and it has not got an extension to look in the 'templates' folder.
Could someone please help?

Yes i can now see on the source that it is using the templates folder e.g (www.malegroominglounge.co.uk/templates/findus.html), but when I go into dreamweaver template, the code i see is:

Blu-ray menu link not going to correct page

Here we go again. I try something new, and it doesn't work. Here is the situation:
I have a Blu-ray menu. The main page of the menu has three buttons: Play Movie, Scene Selection, and Bonus Features.
Play Movie starts playing the disc at chapter 1, which is what it's supposed to do.
Scene Selection takes the user to the "first" page of the menu, where each chapter is listed and the first one is highlighted. The chapters span two pages, with the second page accessible by using the "Next" link at the bottom of the page. From that second page, you can either choose a chapter listed or go back to the previous page.
Bonus Features is set to go to page three of the menu, where the user can select to watch extra content which are each in their own timeline. This page is only accessible from the Bonus Features button on the main menu page. However, when it is selected, it goes to page 1 of the Scene Selection menu instead. The link in the Properties is set to go to "Disc 2 Menu:Page 3: Instrumental", which is the name of the menu, the page I want it to go to, and the button I want highlighted. But when I test it in my Blu-ray player, it does not behave correctly. Is there something in Encore I am missing? The button type is set to Normal, like the rest of the buttons on the Default page.
I don't want to keep burning discs to test this out when there doesn't seem to be anything else I can do to fix the problem. Hopefully someone knows what is wrong.

I have music and a video playing in the background, so the multi page menu is great for going to new pages and having the video and music continue playing, instead of having the DVD style menu where everything stops and starts over when you change pages.
So here is the top of my flowchart showing the main page of the menu and where each button goes. Everything works except Bonus Features going to P3B2 (I am guessing B2 is Button 2, which is what I want).
And here is the bottom of my flow chart showing what each button on that menu does.
Hopefully you spot something that is off. I might try to wrangle a second blu-ray player and see if it does it in a different machine as well.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in preview.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in encore preview. This only happens for a Blu ray project. When a user presses the menu button it should go to the previous menu they were on but it goes to the main menu. When they press the title button they should go to the main menu but it doesn't do anything. My DVD projects work as expected.I've tried creating a new "test" project with different footage and still get the same undesirable results.
Overrides grayed out and set to "not set" for timelines and menus.Project settings and build are set to blu ray. Also I've noticed when I preview a Bluray project the preview window shows a red colored disc next to the Title button when viewing the timelines and green when playing the menus but not so for a DVD project it displays red if motion menus and or timelines are not rendered/encoded. I'm not using motion menus and all the media is encoded according to the project specs.
I've searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. Any help or redirects to a solution would be appreciated. Working with CS5. Thanks.

I found out on my Samsung Blu ray player the remote has a tools button on it that brings up audio, angle, chapter selection etc.and also title selection which is actually the menus and the timelines unfortunately. It's not as easy or direct as last menu selected but it's a workaround at least. I also plan on using a pop up menu. I'll let you know.

You are using a Spry menubar widget. Spry was created pre-touch-screen systems and hence not designed for touch screens.
There are a number of solutions available to you
1. Don't have an active link on the main menu item
2. Place submenus in the page that is opened by the main menu item, e.g. as a vertical menu
3. Use Spry Menu Bar ver 2.0
3. Use a different menu system that is geared to accommodate touch screens
Because of the demise of Spry, see here http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framework-availability.htm l, option 3 looks like the best option.
There are a number of free-of-charge jQuery menubars, you could also opt for one of the commercial menubars such as PVII, WebAssist or DMXZone

My main menu does not appear when I turn on my apple TV first generation, how do I restore my main menu screen?

When I turn on, it asks for language choice, then it asks for 1080i, then it asks for network choices. I choose my network, then it asks for my network password. I enter the password, then it say it does not connect to network, and if I hit menu on remote, it goes back to network selection. I can not get to main menu to see my setting for the network, because there is no menu.

I've only recently upgraded from iDVD (not sure how I worked with it for so long)
I'm using DVD SP 3
I have made a dvd with a title screen from where you can play the entire film or go to a second menu which contains four chapters.
This seems very basic but i've searched the forum a lot and can't find the answer (maybe because it's so basic)...
How do I make a button on the second/chapter menu screen that will return to the main menu? The kind that idvd places there automtically.
Do I have to make a script (I haven't done this before) or is there some 'automatic' function or ?

1) Create a button on the chapter menu with the text MAIN MENU (or whatever you want it to say).
2) Select the chapter menu in either the graphical or outline view of your DVD.
3) Click on the Connections tab.
4) Select the MAIN MENU button in the source column.
5) Select the main menu in the Targets column.
6) Click the Connect button above the Targets column.
After doing the above steps you should see the main menu in the Target column to the right of "MAIN MENU:Jump when activated" in the source column. Your MAIN MENU button will now take you back to the main menu.

The main menu does not show in explorer/PC!!

I have a problem that i hope somebody can solve. When i am publishing my site from iWeb directly to me.com the website is working fine. If i export the website and then preview it in explorer on PC the main menu does not appear for some reason. I would be greatful if somebody could give me an explination on what is wrong? Please!

Where are you "exporting" your site to?
The iWeb navigation menu will not show on a PC running IE if Java is turned off.
You can get round this by "hiding" the standard navigation using the "page" inspector and building your own.

Seems to be different results for different people.
My sites have usually migrated automatically whenever I have upgraded. Others report the same outcome as you.
I've never traced the reasons for non-migration to a single root cause.

Sleep button on main menu does not always work..

For my own convenience, I added the "sleep" selection to my iPod's main menu, so I wouldn't have to worry about holding down the play/pause button instead. Quite often, this button simply doesn't work in putting the iPod to sleep. Holding the play/pause button works, but clicking sleep seems to do nothing half the time. The iPod realises that it's being clicked, since it makes the "click" noise from the speaker.. yet nothing happens. Is this some sort of wierd bug? And if so, why does the sleep option work some times and not others?

I usually give mine at least 15 sec and mine works perfectly.If i dont wait for it to spin down it will not cut off.try it.......

Main Menu Button will not Highlight after burn!

I'm creating a DVD that has multiple motion menus w/each menu consisting of around three to 10 buttons. These motion menus were created in AE & I made overlays from the AE files in Photoshop. I'm using the simple highlight state for all of my buttons & everything has been playing back smoothly in the simulator...
However, when i burn a dvd the first button on my first play menu doesn't load & reamains unhighlightable even though I can still select it. All of my other buttons in this menu highlight on/off as they should. And this isn't just happening in my main menu, but in about 1/3 of the menus I've created for this project.
I've looked through the discussion pages, talked to Apple, and tried to create some simple scripts to work around the problem, but to no avail. If anyone can help me out w/this seemingly simple, yet incredibly frustrating problem I'd be most appreciative!

Are you using AC3 audio?
What player are you looking at the dvd on?
I have an el cheapo Cyberhome that gets all kinds of funky on some menus--does similar things to what you are saying.

Apple TV locked up on main menu and then goes to screen saver. Still locked

Apple TV not even 18 months old. Now out of warranty. Have reset by pulling the plug out aswell as holding the 2 buttons on the remote for 6 secs. No luck. After pulling the plug out for 30 secs and then back in, the Apple intro movie plays, then it goes to main menu. Cursor stuck on Top Movies. It won't budge and I know the remote works as I see the yellow light on the front of Apple TV working and it also works with my Macbook Pro. After the main menu appears the screen saver comes on and its still not responding to my remote.
Any suggestions please? I'll be bummed if I have to throw this out after 18 months as it cost a few $ and I don't believe Apple will fix it for free. BTW it has been working brilliantly for the last 18 months when connected to my MB Pro. Now its connected to my iMac. In iTunes where I sync everything, I have told it not to sync anything so that the Apple TV is now empty of content. Still no luck. U would think they would have put a hard reset button on the back like they have for my AE Base station/router.

I can confirm that the remote is still working by using it with my MB Pro. I have not changed any settings with the remote re pairing/unpairing.
In a nustshell, I took all my media from my much smaller MB Pro and put it on my much larger iMac. I then added a huge amount of music files to the iMac and in turn synced it with the Apple TV - all 160Gb of the Apple TV was then full. Then it seemed to stop working. In particular when I tried to play an MPEG4 movie that had previously played, it came up with an error message of sorts stating that the video could not be played due to an unrecognised format.
I even tried to play an iTunes documentary that I had d/loaded from the Apple store that also previously played. Same error message.
I can't try the unpairing command as the Apple TV will not respond to the remote. Its off at a repair shop so will let the forum know of what success I may have!

Layered Menu Buttons not working on DVD player

Hello,
I just made an SD DVD with several layered menus. The backgrounds for the menus come from photoshop files with different layers for normal, selected, and active states. Navigating the main menu works fine in the simulator and when I play the disc in my computer, however, I can not arrow to another button on dvd players. I have made several discs this way and this is the first time I have had this problem. My burn process is to make an image and then burn the image in toast. Any thought?

Hi Brian - welcome.
Layered menus are particularly tricky... they almost always require two actions from the user to get them working in a player. One click to land on the button and another to select it. This is really frustrating at times, but is down to the way the layered menus work.
You can convert them to standard menus pretty easily though, and unless you absolutely need to have different layers I'd strongly advise that you do convert them. Standard overlay type menus work with a rollover type of effect, allow you to have an audio bed and work far faster on DVD players.
The only time I'd stick with layers is when the selected state reveals a further piece of information that takes up most of the menu area. In all other cases I'd avoid them if I were you

Simple Drop Down Menu buttons not working

I'm having a bit of trouble getting a button in a hoover over drop down menu to link to another scene in the .swf movie. I just doing a basic drop down menu (example here: http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Interactivity/Navigation/Drop_dow-Phlook-951/index.php) with a couple of buttons with in a movie clip, the movie clip being the "button" someone hoovers over. The buttons however are not going to the corrisponding scene I have them set up to. What's strange is that if I set in the buttons action panel to go to an url instead of a scene, in the .swf movie the button works when I click it...it wants to go the specificed url. Nothing happens when it's set to go to a scene. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Ned. The code I'm using on the buttons is the same method I'm using for the regular buttons (i.e. not with in a movie clip).

I like and appreciate the idea on keeping it with in the same timeline, but that didn't work either. This is all very strange, because as I said, the buttons that are not with in a movie clip work with that method in their action panel. And the buttons with in the movie clip work out to an url, just not a scene or frame number.
I'm using CS4, but I'm not sure which 'Publish' settings I should have it at, and on 'Profile' it's set to 'Flash CS3 Settings (it's either that or 'Flash 5 Settings').

On switching my mini on the backlight comes on and i cannot see the main menu. by playing around with the button I can access traqcks and these will play. I have tried resetting but this does not work. i have alos downloaded the updater sftware to restore the original settings. I don't know whats gone wrong here because the software once loaded does not give me the opportunity to follow the XP instructions shown on the website. Can you help?

Menu button not available

I cannot get to the menu button on my samsung galaxy 2 10.1 tablet. There is not a menu on the botton of the screen as many keep referring to either. Am I correct that customizing the app is just going to not be possible? Am about ready to give up and uninstall again.

Next steps: if the device does not have a 3 dot menu we need to file a bug and have qa repro.
