Dreamweaver CS5 and xampp problem

Hi folks,
i had cs5 trial installed on my last laptop
running vista 32bit
with xampp, i could edit wordpress files
no problem,
but i just got a new laptop
now running windows 7 64bit,
i installed cs5 trial fine and xampp.
I just went to edit wordpress files for the first time
and when i go to index.php as soon as i go to
'discover' i get dreamweaver 'not responding'
and it doesn't respond.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
Daniel

Thanks for the reply,
there was an update for dreamweaver yesterday which fixed my problem,
i don't know why because the update was for browserlab and dreamweaver compatibility or something like that,
but it fixed my problem and now the files load instead of the program (not responding)
so now i'm happy lol.

Unfortunately I can't help you. But if it's any consolation, you are not alone. I am suffering from same symptom except it happens with any dynamic site I need to work on. And it doesn't matter whether the sites are local or remote.
I am running Windows 7 64bit as well in both of my machines, desktop (AMD) and laptop (Intel), and this happens on both of them and with any dynamic site, Joomla! for instance.

How does on add a photo gallery to a web site in Dreamweaver CS5 and have the file folder which contains the photos, recognized as the "go to location" for the link up?

Ok.  So Photos1.htm is the main gallery page.
And it looks like you have sub-folders with images in them like these from 2011 and 2010

  • Dreamweaver cs5 and PayPal Buttons

    Greetings,
My website was created with Dreamweaver cs5. Customers who want to purchase a product from my website simply press the "Add to Cart" button and this takes them to the PayPal checkout.
Here is the problem. If you click on ANY of the add to cart buttons for a particular product, the PayPal add to cart button adds a totally different, random product from my website into the cart. I have had problems with the add to cart buttons before. However, PayPal insisted that this kind of problem might be caused by Dreamweaver.
Every time I need a new "add to cart" button, I create it in PayPal. PayPal generates a code that I then copy and paste into dreamweaver. A customer service representative for PayPal said that the problem might be arising because of a copy and paste issue. He said that dreamweaver sometimes changes things you paste into your code.
    Is this true?
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Laila

I, too, have been experiencing similar problems. On PayPal support call earlier in day, I was advised to go to prefs/Code Rewriting/ and uncheck the "Rename form items when pasting" checkbox.
On doing so, I was able to test my problem page, http://www.screamingeagles.com/pages_02/invoiceMail.html and it worked in Safari, Opera, FireFox on two Macs, and Internet Explorer 8 on PC.
Closed all sessions, feeling pretty good about the fix, but on restarting about four hours later, Same Same...well, almost the same. At this point, the first item on the dropdown failed, while the next three, item 2, 3, and 4 choices and prices, worked. They appeared on payment page and reflected the correct prices, but just would not add the first item to the cart.
This prompted another call to PayPal support, and tech advised the same. On responding that I had already done that multiple times, he advised I contact DreamWeaver (Adobe) support as it was out of their scope of responsibility.
PayPal support tech also regenerated my code, pasted it in his text editor, and it worked exactly as I had saved in my "Saved Buttons". So, that again supports that it's a DreamWeaver problem/bug/flaw...insert language as needed.
I can't see any difference in the code itself (although I'm not an expert) so that led me to this post. The only other items within the Rewrite Code prefs that "might" influence it (in my prefs) is that I have checked:
Fix invalidly nested and unclosed tags
    Remove extra closing tags
Warn when fixing or removing tags
    Never rewrite code:
    Special characters:
Encode special characters in URLs using %
    Unchecked items:
    Rename form items when pasting
    URL encoding
On  my request, support tech also agreed that this should be escalated at his end to contact Adobe, as we agreed that it was unlikely that I would be the only person running into this problem.
    Looking forward to any response,
    Thanks,

I regenerated the code for the payment button and pasted into Simple Text. The code had the <option value=(1) etc etc lines (on /invoiceMail.html that corresponded to lines 145, 146, 147, 148) indented. I then went into Dreamweaver CS5 code, pasted, and no indent visible.
I manually indented each line four characters in, published, and that change seems to have worked.
Can't say with certainty, but one of those actions worked. (Keeping in mind I had already recreated the PayPal code a few times.)
    Hope that helps somebody.

  • Dreamweaver cs5 and Jquery

Hi. I was looking for "Flash Elements" on Dreamweaver cs5, so that I can use the Image Viewer to put pictures on my wesbite.
There was no "Flash Elements" option in the Insert tab. I did some research and apparently I needed a jquery code. I found a free code on a website and I downloaded it and it is saved on my computer.
I don't know what I am supposed to do with this code, or how I am supposed to implement it into dreamweaver so that the Flash Elements option appears in my Insert tab. After the file downloaded, I got a notification message on dreamweaver that said something like  "jquery.tn3lite.min is a view only file. what would you like to do with it?" The options were View, Make writeable, and Close. I clicked View and I am not sure how to proceed from there. The document that opened in code view contains a ton of content in it.
Please tell me the steps I need to take from here to get the Flash Elements - Image viewer in the Insert tab.
    Thanks in advance.

    Laila

Seems to be some confusion here.
Please tell me the steps I need to take from here to get the Flash Elements - Image viewer in the Insert tab.
    There are none.
Adobe dropped the Flash Image Viewer from Dreamweaver starting in CS4. It won't be back. There are much better ways of achieving slideshows these days.

jQuery has nothing to do with Flash Elements - Image Viewer.
jQuery is one good way to get a slideshow working on your webpage but understand what it is before you try to use it.

  • CS3 to CS5 and Aspect problems

A few problems are troubling me now that I have moved a big project from CS3 to CS5.
I have the aspect ratio for everything set to 16x9 in the interpret footage area.  However, once I opened the project in CS5, a few items reverted back to 4x3.
Also, I am using a lot of clips with alpha channels on top of still images.  These still images come up black and white once their aspect is set.
Any idea on what could be the touble maker here?  The images and video are all SD quicktime format.  The still images are .pct.

Open a new project in Premiere Pro CS5 and then import the CS3 project into it - that may correct the problems.
If not, you can select the clips that are reverting to 4x3 and modify their properties and switch them to 16x9.
    Hope this helps,
    Dennis

  • Dreamweaver CS5 and/or CF Builder

I am trying to figure out what development software would be the most useful.  I have been using Dreamweaver to write ColdFusion for years but I have been asked by a new client for advice on what software to purchase.  I haven't used CS5 or ColdFusion Builder so please pardon any ignorant questions.  We need to be able to design website content as well as write code.  I am not sure if it would make more sense to purchase CS5 and Builder or just CS5.  The person on the phone at Adobe said that if I purchased CS5 there would be no need to purchase Builder but I thought I would ask here to see what the developer opnion was.  I plan on downloading and evaluating them my self but I am still curious to here your opinions.
    Thanks,
    David

I find it a bit strange too that they would not include CF Builder as part of a "WEB Premium" package - afterall CFBuilder is used for building Web Sites/Apps.  Also having a tool like that as part of the Web Premium would help promote Coldfusion in same ways.  Adobe should at least perhaps offer a CFBuilder upgrade version pricing if you own CS5 web premium - I mean Flash Builder is already included in CS5 (which is part of the CFBuilder bundle).
Anyway, I mainly use DW to build CF sites, I found that the code hinting (or what you call it) (not only for CF, but also CSS, html etc) is better then it is in CFBuilder (the beta version of CFBuilder anyway - for me).  I mainly use DW in code view though.
Like you said, download both and give them a whirl.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 and DHTML Extension

I just bought the CS5  and installed the DHTML extension but it will not work -
it will not work in opening existing menus nor in starting a new menu in a
new project - IT KEEPS TELLING ME THAT MY PROJECT IS NOT OPENED -
it is obviously opened because a previously made menu already is there
how can I get this extension to open and create menus like it is supposed to in CS5?

You say that you installed "the DHTML extension". A search of the Dreamweaver exchange for "DHTML" yeilds 33 results.
What specific extension did you install? Have you tried to contact the developer?
Sometimes help info is available listed in the Extension Manager when you select the extension.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 and GIT... is it possible?

My web development company would like to use GIT to handle file versioning since the programming community at large seems to be the recommending GIT instead of SVN.  What is the best way to utilize GIT in Dreamweaver CS5?  Is the only option to use this Dreamweaver GIT extension?  Are there any other methods?

Funnily enough the Subweaver extension integrates TortoiseSVN/GIT into Dreamweaver so Integrating Versions wouldn't really be a "one up".
And please, stop for a second, consider what you read, remove that 'I've read Steve Jobs mantra' rod from up your arse; I wasn't suggesting that using a terminal was the be all and end all, or the optimal solution, I merely suggested that considering the current implementation in CS5+ of SVN is grindingly slow, it wouldn't kill you to learn the basics of a few of these tools.
**** if you don't understand "working path", which is a very basic term used in most IDEs and every version control system since CVS, real integration is probably going to be too complicated. How do you handle JavaScript, HTML, XML, XSD, XSLT, CSS1/2/3, Cross Browser Development, aka THE JOB, if your terrified of actually having to learn the terminology of the tools of the trade. If its was some free for all for every idiot in the world with no modicum of intelligence required, it would be paid on par with most admin jobs.
If you can live without the "click to edit style" spoon-fed, WYSIWYG, drag and drop development system that Dreamweaver is, look at the tools JetBrains creates like Webstorm, that has fully integrated version control, or Aptana which is based on Eclipse and supports every version control system to pop into life in the last 19 years; Coda which has all of the same toys; or any of the other hundreds of tools out there with version control integrated.
You could even move to GIT for development and use SVN as a central repository; and the tools are fricking free, try http://www.sourcetreeapp.com/ It will let you work in a "git" fashion locally and push your changes to SVN. Unfortunately though every tool requires some learning, its life, and no developer/designer/ux muppet is going to change source control into something where you just hit a big frickin button that says STORE-THE-CHANGES and provide you with no way of working on what's happened, how its changed, commit messages, branching.
Adobe could pull their finger out and fix dreamweaver, drop masses of the slow, badly built architecture they inherited and never bothered to change, but its unlikely; and considering the competitive nature of the web design and development industry I simply put it to you to Man/Women up and take some responsibility to learn more of the tools of your trade, the industry as a whole isn't going to slow down evolving in order to dumb everything down to a microsoft paperclip "so your trying to version a file" wizard system and nor-should it.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 and JDBC Driver

Does Dreamweaver CS5 support JDBC Driver for MySQL ?
If yes how to set up a JDBC connexion to a MySQL database ?
If no how can I connect a JSP page/application to a MySQL database ?
    Thanks.

Support for JSP has not been available since Dreamweaver CS4.
Correct, but the JSP Server Model functionality can be installed as an Extension that is delivered with Dreamweaver. You can find it here:

  • Photoshop CS5 and 3D problem

    Hi!
I installed photoshop CS5 Extended and unfortunatelly the 3D menu options are all grayed out.
My graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 3600
I enabled the OpenGL drawing. In the Preferences menu the 3D panel was active after i turned on the OpenGL drawing, but everytime I want to use some 3D feature the program tells that  - for example: "The command create 3D from 2D is not currently available." OR "The command create repoussé from layer mask is not currently available."
I don't know what could be the problem or maybe I need better graphic card?

Hi, for some strange reason all of the 3D menus in my CS5 extended are not displayed on my workstation but up and active on my laptop and I just cannot find the reason why. I have a Radeon 4870HD 1GB DDR5 and have downloaded the latest drivers including open gl3.2 but it makes no difference, have you any idea would could be wrong.
I have looked in Menus and all of the data is there but it just wont display on the menu bar, its driving me nuts!
    Many thanks David

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5. save problem

    I am using DW CS5.5.
Ctrl+S and file>save just get ignored and I have to close the file to save docs.
I managed to get rid of unhelpful error messages when closing files by deleting a couple of .htm files from the folder \configuration\commands\ but it hasn't helped resolve the main problem of only being able to save by closing the doc.
    Any ideas? Thanks

"If this configuration folder is the one in the Program Files hierarchy, you may have shot yourself in the foot.  Never mess with those."
I had a neighbor one time who was annoyed that "that darn bolt on the bottom of my engine" kept scraping on the curb when he'd pull in or out of his driveway, so he ground it down till it was flat with the oil pan. It wasn't till about a year later when he took the car in to have the oil changed that he realized the error of his ways. Cost him $500 to have the pan pulled and replaced.
If you don't know what it does, find out first or leave it alone.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 Spry Menu problem;

Hi, I'm doing a web-site project for my Web Design class, and I ran into a problem. In Dreamweaver my spry menu only shows one part of the menu, but when I go to preview it, its perfectly normal. When I turned it into my teacher he sees the spry menu just like the one in Pic 2. I can't really upload it to a public domain/website because I can't at school. The way we see websites is by transfering folders into the teachers folders and click the index.html. Is there any way to fix this?

  • Dreamweaver cut and paste problem! LAST RESORT!

    Hello there people
I am in desperate need of some help, I have exhausted all
other options and I REALLY hope some one on here will be able to
    help me!...
I was halfway through an index.html doc when my cut and paste
option stopped working! if you go to edit, all the options are
greyed out! and keyboard shortcuts wont work either! I have tried
opening my other docs and they are all the same!,
Thinking it was a bug I downloaded some updates, I then tried
re-installing, and then removing the WHOLE thing then
re-installing! Ive also looked at windows and there does not seem
to be a problem there either!
Cut and paste works EVERY where else except in DW!
It is looking like maybe I have "selected" some thing, but I
have checked every thing I know and still NOTHING!!
can any one shed any light on this?

    IVE GOT THE ANSWER!
In Windows, browse to this file:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\panelset.xml
Rename the panelset.xml file to panelsetOLD.xml, so that
Dreamweaver will automatically create a new panelset.xml
    file.
