Dreamweaver CS5 on Retina Macbook Pro - Won't open

I was directed here from my previous forum post here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4763592#4763592
Basically, when I install Dreamweaver  CS5 on my rMBP, nothing happens. When I go to /Users/name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5 I have no language folders, or anything else for that matter.
I have redownloaded the dmg file multiple times, reinstalled multiple times, etc. I have tried every fix that I've found except for resetting the configuration folder in en-US, but only because that folder does not exist
Thoughts?

The screen resolution cannot be set by number (800x600 or whatever) is can only be set to 'scales'
I tried various settings, tried loading my existing install, and still had no success. Should I go to a large scale and try reinstalling it?

  • Dreamweaver CS5 on Retina Macbook Pro - When trying to open, nothing happens

When I try to open Dreamweaver CS5 on my new Retina Macbook Pro, nothing happens. It shows the Apple and "Dreamweaver" in the status bar, but no file, window, etc. Also, the launch screen never shows. Eventually, I have to Force Quit, as nothing happens (even when leaving it run for hours)
I have tried the following 'fixes' based on other discussions that I have found with 0 success:
Created a new admin account and tried to open from that
    Reinstalled
    Updated
Ran the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool
    Permission Fix in Disk Utility
Changing permissions on the /User/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver folder
I have also seen some recommendations that I remove/rename the Configuration folder from the en-US folder in the Dreamweaver folder mentioned above. However, I don't even have a en-US folder. Hmm?
I do not have FileVault activated currently, although I will need to eventually, as it is company policy. I am just trying to get it to run first before I turn on FV and troubleshoot that.

Presumably, the folder is empty because Dreamweaver never launches successfully. I was going to suggest reinstalling because you might have a corrupt installation, but it seems as though you have already tried that. I wonder if your installation disk or dmg is corrupt?
There is a dedicated forum for installation issues at http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup?view=discussions. It might be worth asking there. I wish I could be of more help.

  • OSX 8.2 new Retina Macbook Pro won't wake from sleep.

Since upgrade to OSX 8.2 new Retina Macbook Pro won't wake from sleep. Tablet lights are on in morning and fans running like crazy, but it requires hard quit and start. Tried with no apps running, no change. It was fine before this last update. Wasn't the recent firmware update supposed to fix this issue? It seems to have started one for me.

I have the exact same problem with my Macbook Pro OS 10.8.4. What happens is: I work on the train, press cmd/alt + eject to put to sleep..pop it in my bag...get home or office... open the lid...and nothing! Battery indicator shows I have plenty of juice but it will not wake up no matter what key I press.
The only difference between use on the train and home/office is the plugging in of peripherals and mains power. It happens sparadicially, perhaps once or twice a week and I always send a 'panic report', so somewhere there will be approx 20 reports of this fault at Apple.

  • My Macbook pro won't open downloaded programs. it just opens the code it was written in using the text and edit app. How can I fix this?

My Macbook pro won't open downloaded programs, it just opens the code it was written in using the text and edit app. How can I fix this? I just bought the computer last month so this is some what frustrating.

If you are downloading .exe files, those are Windows programs, and will not run on your Mac unless you install Windows on it.  (That is possible, if you need one of those apps.)

  • My macbook pro won't open games that weren't purchased in itunes store.  How do I change the preferences for downloads?

My macbook pro refuses to open games if they weren't purchased from the apple store.  Message says my security settings prohibit opening game.  How do I reset the security settings?

Not sure about where it is or even it this setting exists on 10.6 but on lion it is in the security & privacy section of system preferences. You have to click the lock icon and type in your admin password then select "Anywhere" in the "allow applications downloaded from:" area.

  • HT204267 My 2012 15" retina macbook pro won't turn on, sporadically

My macbook pro will go through phases of working fine, and not turning on AT ALL. I have reset the SMC, pRAM, bought a new charger, etc. But sometimes, I'll close my computer (which has excellent battery life, mind you) and it will, seemingly, die. No problem, right? Plug it in, start it up- NOPE! I'll plug it in for hours; until the charger turns green, even. And hold the power switch like there's no tomorrow. Trust me, all sorts of ways with different durations. It just will NOT turn on. No chime, no action with the fan. It just gets really hot after a few minutes. Then I'll leave it for a good 24 hour day alone. Only then, will I plug it in, and it will magically turn on. Bottom line- very worrisome, and untrustworthy problem I have. Are there any ideas?? Thanks in advance, everyone.

I have the same problem , suddenly my MacPro stoped, and the charger light is hardly can be seen, it is not charging and not turning on.   I tried to hold power button 15 second and ...so on ... but didn work.  Any one have other solution please?

  • 2013 13" Retina Macbook Pro won't resume properly when connected to external display

Have a lovely new 13" Retina macbook,
When it's connected to my display by a displayport->hdmi adapter and the lid is shut if the laptop sleeps then it will not resume properly. I get a black screen, or a blue screen with a cursor, and I have to reset the macbook to use it again.
Without the display connected it works fine every time ( by lifting the lid ).
    Any Ideas?

Had a chat with apple support, and this got fixed
Solution was a SMC controller reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    and a PRAM reset

  • New MacBook Pro won't open iPhoto 09

I have a new 15" MacBookPro and cannot open iPhoto. The message reads "You can't open the application iPhoto because it is not supported on this type of Mac." I used Migration Assistant which moved over the applications yesterday -- took over 5 hours and didn't move the documents at all.
After reading in some posts somewhere that iLife '09 needed to be purchased separately, I took out my iLife family pack, and ran the install for it on the new MacBook Pro.
I tried to install iLife Support 9.0.3 but got a message that "This update does not need to be installed. A newer version of this software is already installed." Garageband boots up fine.
There is only one iPhoto application installed and it is version 8.1.2. Says it's an Application (PowerPC)
Is my Mac defective?? Is there an explanation or a fix for this?

Why did you do that? iLife (including iPhoto) comes preinstalled on all new systems - moving iPhoto from another computer is not necessary and does not work
After reading in some posts somewhere that iLife '09 needed to be purchased separately, I took out my iLife family pack, and ran the install for it on the new MacBook Pro.
Did you delete the iPhoto receipts ("your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) prior to doing this install?

    Very doubtful
Is there an explanation or a fix for this?
It is possible that the iPhoto application is just fine and it is only your library - to test that depress the option key and launch iPhoto - create a new library and import a few photos into it and test it - if that works then the application is ok - to switch back to the main library you will need to repeat the option - launch.
Once you have the iPhoto application straightened out, It it likely that your iPhoto library did not transfer correctly - Migration assistance does not always do a good job on the iPhoto library - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • New MacBook Pro won't open/load .dmg files

I have new MacBook Pro, purchased in January 2014.  I have downloaded two .dmg files - and neither will load!!  I downloaded the first from www.blurb.com.  It's called booksmart.  But, after I've downloaded the file, I notice that Finder has it listed as a "document file" ??!?  What do I do??  thanks

    TextileMama,
have you tried renaming booksmart to booksmart.dmg, to see if Finder then considers it executable?

  • 15" Retina Macbook Pro won't login after 10.8.3 update failure

I just attempted to installing 10.8.3 on my Retina mbp and after failing I could no longer login. When attempting login, the screen would flash white then go back to the login screen.
I was able to get to safe boot by holding the shift key during boot.
From safe boot I was able to download the 10.8.3 combo update. OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.3 (Combo)http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1640
After reapplying the update and it succeeded and I was able to log back in to normal mode.
    Hope this helps someone!

Word of advice. It is a business. Don't just install changes, not without updating your cloned backup, not on day one (security patches that are critical are important but VERY often even those have a high rate of 'breaking' the china and causing havoc.
High fans etc are rarely PRAM related. Might be SMC.
Install OS X on another drive. Update to 10.8.2. Clone. Put clone on shelf. Rerun the COMBO update - if you are using delta update, they do sometimes fail to take, it use to be combo updates were the only safe update but seems updates are better and safer.
but it is best to have a TEST system if possible to try a new update or program on, even if that is just a disk that you clone, and keep and leave your production system AS IS for a week... or two.
unplug everything. hit power. connect only power and one monitor and kb/mouse.

  • My Macbook Pro won't open Photoshop CS6 ever since I installed OS X Mavericks. What should I do?

Also, I haven't seen any updates for OS X Mavericks on the app store, though maybe I'm wrong? I'm just really frustrated and disappointed with this update and would be willing to even uninstall it if I knew how.

Restore disks? If none are included there may be some bad news for you, Im about to install this on my imac but not my macbook air, why? Because I was told laptops work a bit differently than desktops. If a new OS is installed, it will over ride the partition on the hard drive where the old OS was. If that is the case, you cannot revert back unless you completely wipe out your hard drive and reinstall from a disk.

  • Macbook Pro won't open any files, safari or app store

Hi, last night my macbook (15-inch, Late 2008) froze completely and wouldn't let me turn off or restart, so I had to wait until the battery ran out to reboot. When i rebooted it seemed the macbook had completely reset , all my files are all grouped under "all my files" instead of their designated folder, and the image of each file (e.g. usually a note if a song) had gone.
When trying to open a file it does not let me, the same goes for a few applications including Safari, App Store and programs i had bought previously.

This is what your problem is.  You have received a MBP that has all of the App store applications registered under the sellers name.
You should have received the MBP with the original OSX disks so that you could set it up in your name and with your ID.  Ask the seller if he has the original disks and a Snow Leopard retail disk.  (10.6.8 is needed to install Lion, Mt. Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite)
If not, you will have to at the very least purchase a Snow Leopard disk from the Apple online store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You will have to install Snow Leopard and then run software update to upgrade it to 10.6.8.
If you connect a HDD to your MBP via USB, with this disk, you can install Snow Leopard on the external HDD.
    Ciao.
