Dreamweaver CS5 with August 2010 Update Applied

I am trying to get Live View to work. I am following the Check Magazine tutorial provided by Adobe and in Part 3 Item 6 "Preview the Page" when I select Live View I get the following popup msg - "Flash Plugin was not found. To view Flash content in Live View install the Netscape/Firefox Flash Plugin from www.adobe.com." When I go to the link provided it tries to install Flash version 10.1. I have read in this forum how to do a manual install of Flash version 10.1 as the automatic install did not resolve my Live View issue. I have completed the manual install and still get the same error when attempting to use Live View. I have also done a restart after the Flash install was completed but still have the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Try deleting your temporary internet files. Otherwise someone on the Flash Forum will likely be able to answer more quickly and correctly than the DW forum.

• Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4 Updater

I naively picked the Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4 update this morning via Adobe Updated. This update wiped out the usernames and passwords for all of my dreamweaver sites. Can recover from this but what a nuisance!!!! Perhaps it was necessary, but please in the future give me a warning when you're going to wipe out my site data!!! Upgrading from CS3 to CS4 and from CS4 to CS5 didn't do this. I certainly did expect a dot release to do so.
Even the updates notes on http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html#dwcs51104 are totally inadequate and don't even mention it.
Well, back to a task (updating all my site setups) that hadn't planned to do today. What a waste.

MLSCHW,
Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy on the website. We are getting that updated.
As for the updater reporting that 11.0.3 is still available, this is definitely not occurring on any of the machines I tested on, but clearly is an issue for some.
Ultimately, you will not be installing the 11.0.3 update since you have the later update already installed. (The installation of 11.0.3 should fail when trying to install on top of build 4993.)
Would it be possible to connect with you to help resolve the issue?
If so, send me a PM with your contact info (e.g. e-mail address and/or phone number) and a good time to contact you (including time zone).

thank you,
I downloaded updates and installed manually, had to mess around a bit.
Start the updater from the program first, then install from the download.
Also, moved plugins that are for Premier from common plugins directory,
to the Premier plugins directory. Stopped the error I got launching After Effects
that said to reinstall the plugins.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could direct me to the solution to this.

Thank You.

Have you tried downloading the updates manually from this link:

If not then please try it and install it on your system. Make sure DW is not running when you are updating it. You also need to restart the machine after the updates so that all the changes can take place.

• Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.3 Update

I have tried to install this since August! Fails every time. The installer doesn't work. I've read every thread, every forum I can find. No definite answer. I've read that some are uninstalling Dreamweaver CS5 all together and reinstalling it, only to return to the forum and say it didn't work? Can anybody help me? I've wasted hours on this. Adobe Support Finder says there's no issue. Thanks much!

I had the exact same problem and now I've sorted it out. Maybe mine is a bit silly, and has been tried, tested and failed by others, but it worked for me.
When I originally installed Dreamweaver as part of CS5 , so installed all the other applcations at the same time. I just choose the applications folder for it to be installed into, and then afterwards I seen that they were all just sitting by themselves in their own folder within the Applications folder. Therefore I decided to put all the program folders into a folder I created called CS5. It was only after I done this that I started having updates failing to install properly.
I dragged all the programs from the CS5 folder that I created and just dropped them all loosely back into the applications folder where they were first installed, and the updates all worked afterwards without a problem.
As I say, it may sound a very basic solution, but it worked for me and maybe it will work for you too.
Good luck!

• Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.3 Updater AFTER 11.0.4 ?

Hello Folks,
There was an updater yesterday for Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4 which updated fine on my computer.
However, today, the Adobe Application Manager wants to install Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.3. That's an older version.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am on a Mac Pro computer running OSX 10.6.7.
p.s. "As a test, I tried running the 11.03 updater that the Adobe Application Manager recommends, but I get an error and it won't install"

Hi folks,
Sorry for any frustration this has caused you all.
I want to clarify that I was not intending to blame this issue on your computers, or on you folks directly. As I stated, I simply was not seeing the same issue.
We now believe that the issue is with files created by Adobe software on your computer. These are the Adobe updater preference files (AAMUpdater folder) that others have mentioned deleting to resolve the issue.
It is so far unclear what might have caused this glitch/corruption in the preference files, but it has not affected most users.
The solution that sammorris81 mentioned, with instructions for both Mac OS and Windows, has now been documented here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/902/cpsid_90241.html
If anyone that is experiencing this problem is willing to send their AAMUpdater folder for examination, please send me a PM. (It does not contain any personally-identifying information.) We would greatly appreciate it, since it will help to avoid such issues in the future.
If resetting the update preferences does not resolve the issue, or you have any questions, reply here or send me a PM. I would like to help you get this sorted.

• Dreamweaver CS5.5 Can't update my site!

I just switched from a PC to a Mac. I exported one of my sites from the Windows PC and copied it over to the Mac. When I 'test' the connection it connects sucessfully, but when I try to upload using Dreamweaver it gives me a error related to permissions. Since it tested ok I know the password is correct - I even retyped it and retested it to be sure - but it still won't upload to the site via DW. (BTW using a Filezilla I can access and upload files to the site).
Any help appreciated!

I found the answer! It seems that with DW 5.5 there is a known issue that affects 'some' (according to Adobe) users. The solution is to delete the webformmailer.php file in the root directory of the site on the server. I have no idea why that works, but it seems to have fixed the problem for me.

• I have Dreamweaver CS5 with Windows 8 and it won't stay connected to the server and it says I need flash plug in, please help

I have a Gateway computer with Windows 8 installed. I have installed Dreamweaver CS5 to manage my website and it won't stay connected to the server. It also won't play flash and says I need a flash plug in. Please help

#1 Try toggling Passive FTP on/off in your remote server's site definition.
#2 Except for a handful of gaming sites, Flash is a dead web technology. It's not supported by iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android, etc... I don't recommend using Flash for anything these days. Better to use HTML5, CSS level 3 and JavaScript.

• Using Dreamweaver CS5 with other CS4 programs

I want to purchase Dreamweaver CS5 for my work computer because it is the same version I have on my personal computer, and I want the two to be compatible. However, there are other Adobe CS4 programs on my work computer (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.). Will any problems arise by having Dreamweaver CS5 and other CS4 programs on the same computer? Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you intending to purchase a standalone version of Dreamweaver CS5?
Your work computer has probably got a CS4 Creative Suite installed (Design Premium CS4?).
You won't be able to upgrade Dreamweaver CS4 (from the Suite) on your work computer to standalone Dreamweaver CS5. It's not a valid upgrade path.
Tip: CS6 is due to be released very soon.
http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faqchannel.html
Although free upgrades from CS5 (purchased after 26 March 2012) are available, there is some paperwork involved. In your position, I personally prefer to wait until CS6 ships - unless CS5 is really the version you want, of course.

• Dreamweaver CS5 with Joomla! Tutorials?

I know that the new CS5 has Joomla! Code support - but I have not found any complete documentation on how to fully use it.
Has anyone written a book? Is there a tutorial? Anything that goes from A to Z on how to fully use this?

• Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.3 Update Won't Install

Hello, I have the Adobe CS5 Web Premium that I use at work. Adobe Application Manager popped up with a Dreamweaver update (11.0.3). I downloaded it and it tries to install but it won't.
I run the Support Advisor but it detects no problems.
I've never had a problem with updates before. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way I can fix this?
Thank you.

Because this recently happened and you are using OSX 10.6.7 can you check and make sure this is not the problem you have before we continue with this topic:

• Check in check out in Dreamweaver CS5 with php site

I created a new site for a client that has about 160 pages, three user login levels, site security, php, forms, . . . The client has a staff member who will make updates to pages with changing content but now wants access to the entire site so she can change wording on other pages as well - she's their new communications coordinator and it certainly makes sense to me. But I'm worry about giving her access to the entire site - I've since learned about check in and check out in Dreamweaver. Since I can't just throw pages in a directory for her to access via ftp (have set that up for one staff member creating gis maps), I'm wondering if this check in check out option is the better way to go for us.
She will use Dreamweaver, like me. Although we do not share the same office or have access to the same network. The only sharing we can do is on our hosting services server. Can I "check out" files I need her to leave alone and leave them that way? That way she'll have access to all of the primary content pages, not the scripts, css, includes, admin, js, bin, etc files. It should make life easier for her, too, I think.
What's common practice for this? And how does synchronization fit in?

Digital Ink LLC wrote:

This situation really needs a proper Content Management System (CMS): Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, Expression Engine all come to mind.
She's a content contributor, you're the system admin. She needs a bulletproof browser-based editing environment to do her thing without worrying about anything else.
Down the track, she'll probably want repeat content that she can control on different pages, content expiry, scheduled content, categories, tags, sidebars, headlines: all standard CMS features.
Using Dreamweaver and Check In/Check Out is just going to create one issue after another.
The current solution was probably adequate in the past but it's reaching the limits of its scalability. It's really time for a new solution.
Have you considered a CMS?

• Is anyone having trouble using Dreamweaver CS5 with Windows 7?

I've just started using Dreamweaver and thought I could import source code from an HTML newsletter template I had and just update it with the new text and pictures. I started a new HTML page, imported the source code into the workspace, then started updating it. However, all I get is code when I try to preview the file in the design view or a web browser. What am I doing wrong? I've attached a screen cap of what I'm seeing.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Just a nit - you are not *importing* anything. You are just copying and pasting. I'm just sayin'.
When you paste HTML code into Design view, all of the HTML brackets ("<" and ">") are converted to HTML entities ("<" and ">", respectively), which makes the result look like code in Design view, but there is no 'display' to be rendered other than the text.
