Dreamweaver CS6 Site setup and Site specific Code hints

I have just started using Dreamweaver CS6 and when I navigate to the server page in the site setup only the intro text is shown.... clicking my mouse around the window reveals the server table and buttons and I can proceed to set up a server.
I have several sites in there now but when I try to set up site specific code hints it shows and error saying that I need to add at least one site before I can continue.
Help

Easiest way to solve this is to have you post a screenshot of your site definition where you define the testing/remote server.  Please be sure to blur or remove any sensitive information from your screenshot before posting (ie: username, password, etc).  We will assume you are able to connect to the remote and/or testing server.  If not you should talk with your host about the remote server or you would need to post more information about your testing environment.

  • Site specific code hinting not working

    Dreamweaver CS6
I included the dw wordpress code hinting to a site I'm working on my local server. when I <?php then ctrl spacebar wp nothing comes up. w is fine but that's not wordpress specific.
I have it working on another site in a different directory, but can't seem to get it working on this one. Anybody have any idea what the problem may be?
    Thanks

    Hi John,
Thanks for the tips. I tried every single one of them to no avail.
I finally got it to work by uninstalling and reinstalling Dreamweaver.
I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question and am so happy that one way or the other it works!

  • Site-Specific Code Hints

I am using a 30 day trial version of CS5.5. (side not, I love it) so I don't know if this is the source of my problem. I installed Wordpress on my computer and I am using XAMPP. I have opened the Site-Specific Code Hints and pressed ok. It does nothing. And I see no configuration file.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why it is failing.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Site Specific Code Hints asking for php server?

I'm trying to edit my wordpress using dreamweaver, but having such a hard time setting it up.  Right now when I go to set up the site specific code hints for wordpress, it is asking me to add a php server.  The site I have has a php server so I am so confused.   Can someone please help me?  I'm not sure what I did wrong.

The site I have has a php server
That is for your 'remote' website. Yes, it will obviously have a PHP server as it runs WP on it.
For you to be able to edit WP files locally, you need a PHP environment such as WAMP for Windows or MAMP for Mac OS.
    Get it here:
    MAMP: www.mamp.info/en/
    WAMP: http://www.wampserver.com/en/
Install it on your computer and start the server before trying to edit files in DW.

  • Site-specific code hints not working

Hi, I'm new here. I really hope that someone will help me. I think this might be a very simple question.  I am using WAMP and it's working. I have installed the Zend Framework and made sure that the include_path is the path where Zend Framework library resides. I'm trying to use Zend's Date.php and its Zend_Date() class. I have correctly added the site-specific code hints. My problem is that I am getting this error: Fatal error:  Call to undefined function Zend_Date() in C:\wamp\www\dwwithphp\_includes\DateUtility.php on line 6. I am actually following lynda.com's Dreamweaver CS5 with PHP and mySQL tutorials in chapter 0305: Using Zend Framework classes with code hints. I have followed all instructions and I'm getting this error. Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • Joomla Site-Specific Code Hints not working, DW5

I setup a Site using an existing Joomla installation on localhost, including the testing server and MySQL database.  After trying to enable Site-Specific Code for Joomla for this Site, I still cannot get any sort of Joomla reference or hinting while editing code.  After seaching both these forums and other sites, I cannot seem to find any details as to how this integration actually works.
Where in DW5 can I actually see Joomla integration, code hinting, or Joomla API reference after setting it up with a Site?

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 constantly freezes temporarily while editing code

When using Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 or older versions, while writing code in PHP, when I end some syntax like closing parenthesis, adobe get frozen for 20 to 30 seconds, the more lines I have the slower it gets. I guess it’s because its detecting mistakes in the code, after that period of time it tells me if I have gotten some errors in that line.
Anyways, I have found a trick to avoid it but it’s really annoying in programming time, instead of using SHIFT+0 to close parenthesis, I copy “)” symbol on the clipboard and paste it to close the whatever function that needs to be close, and in this way, adobe Dreamweaver CS6 wont freeze for 30 seconds, (loosing of course the cool feature of grammar correction).
I know how this sounds but when you have 40.000 lines and you have to correct several mistakes in different lines and after each correction you have to wait 30 seconds… it just pisses you off.
I hope someone could help me to get rid of that waiting maintaining the correction feature or if that is too much to ask for, at least to make it behave like any other text editor that just writes what you time without waits needed.
Thanks a lot for any help about this.

  • Bc and dreamweaver cs6 site import issues

    - issues importing BC sites in Dreamweaver cs6
    - manage sites dialog,
    - flash loader spinning,  "Retrieving site definition..." endlessly.

Thanks Brad. It is happening only for the sites that aren't set up in the manager. the few that are (after a fresh os 10.6.8 install and a fresh cs6 install) are fine. The ones that aren't working are all the rest. So, about 4 that connect and show business catalyst as the "type" in the manager, 1 (my main rebraded partner site) that shows as type "dreamweaver" and then maybe 15 I can't import. The reason for the dreamweaver type is that I used the ftp creds to set it up so that I could use it rather thna letting dreamweaver sniff out the creds and serve up my login cred screen to tie it together. I only did that since I was desperate to edit. It's a workaround.
I spent a long time on chat yesterday with Adobe Support.  Deleted prefs, deactivated dreamweaver, restarted, same issues. They filed a support ticket. I'll try to keep this updated if anyone else would like to know. As always, thanks for the help. - T

  • Dreamweaver cs6 keeps adding br tags in code view

    Hi
I've just upgraded to Dreamweaver cs6 and am having trouble with the code view. When typing in <script> tags or <style> tags I keep getting two <br> tags automatically inserted. It is really annoying as it puts them on two lines and takes time to remove them and completely disrupts your flow when typing code or css.
Any suggestions on how to prevent this happening?
    Thanks.

Thanks David - I think that may well explain it. It seems to happen mostly when adding a { in code or CSS. I wonder if I'm still holding the shift key when I hit enter for a new line. I'm trying Dreamweaver again after using visual studio for the last 5 years or so. I wonder if I can just change the keyboard shortcut.

  • Exclude inherited properties and functions from code hinting

Since, by design, the [Exclude] metatag works only with MXML code hinting, I was wondering if there is any other way of achieving this. For my reasoning why I consider this feature a necessity please consult my bug report on jira.
Anyway, coming back to the problem at hand, I have come up with two possible ways of achieving this:
    1. Use the [Deprecated] metatag and change an option in the Flash Builder, to hide Deprecated functions from the code hinting. The problem is, there is no such option!
    2. Install a plugin which adds a new ASDoc tag (let's name it @exclude) which simply speaking removes all functions/properties which have @exclude in their asdoc from code hinting. But again, I have found no such plugin and I don't have necessary skills to accomplish this task.
    3. A mix of both - plugin which adds an option to hide deprecated elements from the code hinting. Probably the easiest to develop but still, I haven't managed to find such plugin anywhere and I wouldn't know how to even start looking for information to write it.
If you know how this could be accomplished (without resorting to, for example, manipulating the projects's design by using Interfaces) I'd love to hear them.

Well yes of course. But I am trying to make everything available to the same package. Like a namespace. But I want to only expose the base class for instantiation by third party developers.
For instance I have a base class in a SWC named SomethingClass. SomethingClass utilized SomethingClassB, SomethingClassC and SomethingClassD classes and there need to be public methods in between them.
During code completion/code hinting I would like to stop SomethingClassB, SomethingClassC and SomethingClassD from even showing up in that list.
The whole class. Not just some methods or variables.

  • Can I edit my dreamweaver CS6 site in another html editor?

My client wants to be able to make minor updates to his website. I've built it in DW CS6. Can he update it KompoZer or some other free HTML editor? And will those changes also be made to his mobile site?
    Thank you so much!

You may want to consider building the site(s) with a backend CMS (content management system) that the client can log-in to for editing.  This requires no special software on his part.  All he needs is an internet connection and a web browser so the site can be updated from virtually anywhere in the world.  The other main advantage to providing him with a CMS is that the rest of the site cannot be messed up by the client since he will only have access to the pages you designate.  Depending on your coding skills, requirements and budget, the following CMSs might be all you need.
Cushy CMS (watch the video to see how it works)
    No PHP or databases required.

    Perch ($59 license per site)

  • Dreamweaver cs6 site selection list too long

I just noticed today that my site selection list in the file tab group was extending past the bottom of my screen, and I was not able to select one of the sites near the bottom of the list.  When I hook up to dual monitors, and move dreamweaver to the second screen it does not extend past the bottom of the display, and I'm able to choose the ones near the bottom of the list.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and is there a work around for it?  I'm working off of a laptop, and the dual monitor is not always an option for me.

  • Site Specific Javascript Code Hinting? Anyone?

    Hello fellow coders
I have a custom JS framework i built, seperated into 7 different .js files (init.js, misc.js, ui.js etc.).
When working on my main Index.html file, i get full codehinting, obviously since all these JS files are included in the header.
I'm trying to get the code hinting to work inside the JS files, so when i edit init.js, i get code hints from ui.js and misc.js as well.
I've read about the "Site Specific Code Hints", set it up like a dozen times, but it doesn't work
Did anyone get the Site Specific Code Hints to work for JS files ? If so, how ?
Thanks a lot and have a good weekend,
    Guy

    anyone ?

  • CS5 jQuery Code Hinting

I'm messing around in DW CS5 and I'm trying to get coding hinting to work for jQuery. I setup the standard function $(document).ready(function...
But now hinting. I even try ctrl + space but only get the standard javascript code hints. Do I have to set this up in the site-specific code hint option?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hmm.
    Ok. Here's what I did.
I created a folder in my documents and added the latest version of jquery.
Added the folder to my site specific code hint and created a new js file and tried but again only the standard javascript is poping up.
Can you step me through the process?
    Thanks.

  • Code Hinting in JavaScript Files

I use the jQuery framework. If I have an HTML page with the jQuery framework included, I can type JavaScript code in a script tag in the HTML document and Dreamweaver will provide code hints from the jQuery framework.
How can I get these same code hints in a seperate JavaScript file in my site? Is there some way I can add a reference to the jQuery file?
(I know in Visual Studio 2010 I can add an XML reference tag at the top of a JavaScript file with the path to the jQuery file, and that enables the IntelliSense jQuery code hints in the JavaScript file I am working on...)
    Thanks!
    - J

    Yeah, it would be good.
Site-specific code hinting doesn't seems to work anywhere, although I tried with adding *.js and with specifically the jquery file too, no luck.
