Dreamweaver CS6 won't start

Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit) and DW CS6.  I've been using it for the past year-ish with no problems, until this past Monday when it refused to launch.  I click on the icon and get the twirling circle for a second, then nothing.
Anything I can do to troubleshoot?

Ok, so say I click on:
9. Disable the Dreamweaver Start page
That anchors to a sentence with TechNote 14ca38fb  the link to which is dead for me.  A few of the others worked though, and I managed to get in and rename the Configuration folder.  When I launched it again, it made a new Configuration folder, but still no DW.
I'm thinking I'll just call the IT people for a re-install (I don't have the rights to do it myself).

I am unable to start Photoshop in Windows 7 (64 bit Home Premium). I gegt an error message saying Photoshop CS6 won't start and telling me to close the program. Is this a common problem and is there a solution? I have tried opening the program in safe mode and tried a clean boot all without success.

    Hi MFGTG,
    1. I would advise you to please go to
    2. Applicatoins>utilities>Adobe Installers
    3. Try to find if there is any uninstaller for the CS6.
    4. If you find the uninstaller then simply uninstall the application and then reinstall it.
    Thanks

I am having the same issue.  I was able to start DW in a terminal shell using the sudo command stated above.  I got the following lines after it started:

Honestly, I'm not a Mac user.  But this error flags a warning that JavaVM is not on your system.
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/JavaVM
I believe Apple stopped sending Java with it's OS owing to some security issues.  But I believe you can download it below:

  • DW CS6 Won't Start After Uninstalling CS5.5

I purchased an upgrade of DW CS6 and the install went just fine.  It worked fine after installation, so I ran the uninstall of CS5.5 and now CS6 will not start.
I'm on a Mac, and I went to Applications->Utilities->Adobe Installers and ran the uninstall of CS5.5, then restarted the system.  When I click the CS6 icon in the dock, it bounces a few times, then quits. No program is launched.
I fixed this by going to the Adobe Store, signing-in, clicking on my order history, then re-downloading and re-installing the product.

Interesting article, but I knew I was leaving PowerPC apps behind when I moved to OS 10.7, and Adobe claims that After Effects CS 5.5 is fully compatible with Lion. But you must be right about prefs; there's gotta be something causing the Mac OS to think this version of CS is ancient...
Since my initial message, I've tried and failed to find any details about how to select the right prefs to delete. I also ran Disk Utility to repair permissions on my system drive. That got rid of the PowerPC error:) Now on startup AE says mediacore fails to initialize. I can choose to quit or continue on that error, but continuing just results in another error that says dynamiclinkmanager unexpectedly quit, and then AE locks up and I have to force quit it. Not much progress!
No other answers on this so far... Before I uninstall the entire Creative Suite and then delete all Adobe system and hidden files everywhere, any more suggestions? Or a list of the right prefs I should trash?

  • Dreamweaver CS6-won't download!!!

The downloading keeps getting stuck while trying to download the 30 day trial of Dreamweaver CS6. What is the problem?

We cannot know. You're not telling us anything about what computer you use, what browser and what actually "keeps getting stuck" means. Check this:

  • Dreamweaver CS6 won't open, tried to update software, but software won't load

I have CS6 (not cloud) installed on my computer, I use Photoshop and Illustrator regularly with no problems.  I recently got a freelance job that requires me to use Dreamweaver.  I've used it in the past but it's been some time since I've opened the program.  Recently I've tried to launch CS6 Dreamweaver and the Application won't open, but my Illustrator and Photoshop programs open just fine.  I tried to update my software through the Adobe Application Manager but its claiming that the update has failed and cannot be applied.  Is there a reason my applications are not working properly?

  • My dreamweaver cs6 won't open anymore

I downloaded/ bought the cs6 design standard  groupings of a bunch of the applications and have been using them since december. I was using dreamweaver fine up until today when i wouldn't open. The Adobe applicatins manager pops up instead and if i click liscense product and type in my serial number it says its not valid even though ive typed it in multiple times and double checked the it is the right one since it is the only serial number that i could find in my email for it. I don't know what to do, i just need it to open and it won't

    Hi Emmyloafy,
Can you try the solutions mentioned in this doc? http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-licensing-stopped-windows.html. You can also try this forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/licensing?view=discussions
If they do not help, private message your adobe ID with which you made the purchase along with  your location and contact details.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 won't open anymore due to Java SE 6 runtime???

I can't open my Dreamweaver anymore.  I get this error message:  To open Adobe CS6 "Dreamweaver" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime - What is this and where do I get it from?

  • HELP! Dreamweaver 8 won't start!

When I try to start Dreamweaver 8, it goes through it's
regular start up, shows the Dreamweaver 8 startup icon but when it
reaches "initializing files" it quits and I get the error message
    "the application Dreamweaver quit unexpectedly".
    I use a Mac Powerbook G4 running OS X (10.4.9). I've
uninstalled Dreamweaver & reinstalled it. I've repaired my disk
permissions and verified the disc. I've downloaded and installed
the Dreamweaver 8.0.2 updater as I'd heard it fixed the "failure to
launch" problem. It didn't fix the problem. I'm at the end of my
rope here with this pretty soon. Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks, SD

    Install the 8.0.2 updater:

  • Dreamweaver CS6 will not start

I've had this problem for several weeks and thought I had it fixed by resetting the Preferences (http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs4-cs5.html), however, my DCS6 application will not start again, and it seems to happen when I'm out of my docking station, and working from home.
Initally, I uninstalled/reinstalled DCS6 twice, and each time it worked, and then stopped working when I got out of the dock.  Then, as I said, I found the documentation to remove the established Preferences.  It worked fine in the office, but will not load again working from home.
The DW logo comes up on the screen, but hangs there.  It never loads plug-ins or any of the other animations I normally see on the logo screen during a normal launch.  The only way to stop the logo is to open Task Manager, locate Dreamweaver(whatever).exe under the Processes Tab and End Task.  Dreamweaver is not listed in the Applications Tab.
Fortunately, Dreamweaver CS5.5 wasn't automatically deleted when I installed the new software, and it works fine, so at least I can get my work done.
i need some help with this, please.
    Thank you.
    Frank

So I take it that you have also cleared the registry entries as suggested in the document linked in your first post.
So we now need to prove that your Windows Profile isn't the culprit to make DW un-startable.  To prove this, create a new user account  on your machine (temporary or otherwise).  To do this follow these instructions:
    To create a user account
To open User Accounts, click the Start button , click Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click User Accounts.
Click Manage another account. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
      Click Create a new account.
Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.
Please post back if this worked or not.  If it worked then you may want to use this account for your DW work otherwise we need to find some other solution.  Make sure the account is Limited if you plan to use for everyday work because creating an Administrator account is not advisable.
    Good luck this time.
