Hi snaplap,
Lightroom serial numbers are platform interdependent.
You can use the same serial number on the Mac as well.
Please make sure you are using the right serial number on the right installer.
Or drop me a private message with the serial number and I will check that for you.

The most likely explanation is that you downloaded the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom instead of the standalone version of Lightroom (which you can download from here).
If that doesn't work, you'd need to provide a lot more details, including version of Lightroom, operating system, and exactly what you are doing that doesn't work.

Install acrobat 9.0 serial number not valid?

I upgraded my PC and want to move my Acrobat 9.0 standard over from my old PC. I downloaded the installation file for 9.0 std from the website and ran it. It asks for my serial number. I input my serial number as shown on my account for my registered software but it tells me it is invalid and won't let me install. I chatted with support and they validated that my serial number is for 9.0 std. Why won't it show as valid when I try to install it on my new PC?

Did you install Acrobat 9 as part of Creative Suite 4? If so, please see Error "Invalid serial number" | Acrobat 9 | CS4.

I am trying to download Adobe Reader, I have Windows 7 on my PC. Every time I get the download, I click on it to install the program, and I get the usual messages but I never get the install message. When I try the download again, I get a message telling me only one copy of the program can go on the computer. When I check the program list, it is not there. I have to restore my computer before I can attempt the download and install again. I have tried this at least 6 times but cannot install Adobe Reader. Please help me out with this. I really like this product and prefer to use it. I had o originally delete the program, due to an update conflict.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

Lion and installing Canon printer MG5200 series does not work

When trying to add printer to Lion - my Canon MG 5250 - I receive a message that
'The selected printer sofware is available from Apple. Click Add to download it and add this printer.'
I have done this download three times now, and each time when I try to install I receive the message
'Setting up 'Canon MG5200 series ...'
The software for this printer is currently aunavailable.
Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.'
I have done this and the software won't install because it isn't for Lion.

I finally found the solution myself - I downloaded again the driver called mcpd-mac-mg5200-10_51_2-ea11.dmg and installed it.
Then I restarted my Mac.
After it had completely restarted I checked Printers in the System Preferences. The Canon printer was finally showing
The software definitely is not available as a software update at this time; it must be downloaded from the Canon website at http://support-au.canon.com.au/P/search?model=PIXMA+MG5250&menu=download&filter= 0&tagname=g_os&g_os=Mac%20OS%20X%20v10%2E7
Don't forget to restart after installing before checking printers.

I have received permission and new serial number from Adobe to install my old CS4 (I also own CS6) on an older computer but the install says it is complete after only 7 folders show up in my applications and there is no InDesign, Photoshop, DreamWeaver or Illustrator. "Chat" said that

Any number of problems could have occurred during installation including OS version compatibility, permissions of directories, etc.
There forums are not an outlet of Adobe Technical Support which is generally much better equipped to assist with product installation issues.

Issue with CS5 deactivation on old computer and reactivation on new - serial number not working

Please help - we are owners of Creative Suite Design Premium CS5 - I just recently switched my wife to a new computer using migration ( we have macs), when I try to deactivate the old license on the old computer it gives me an error, thus preventing me from activation on the new computer. This was the only available option to me, according to adobes site. Their lack of support for older software is mind boggling. So the only way for me to get to talk to someone is by fibbing on their extensive question list before the process actually begins. I guess I will try that if I don't hear from an Adobe team member here...
