Dreamweaver dialog boxes

Running a dual monitor setup with dreamweaver cs5 and the dialog boxes refuse to stay in the last place they were placed (or at the least stay on the monitor dreamweaver is in).
For example my dreamweaver runs on my right monitor and I go to select recently modified files, the dialog box for recently modified files options appears on the left monitor every single time. Is there a way to fix this or force dreamweaver to only use the right monitor?
Seems like a bug or a bad oversight. It is annoying having to go to the left monitor when I don't use that for dreamweaver...

I'm having the same issue. My primary monitor is my right one but I keep DW open on the left monitor. I've written several extensions that we used in CS3 that worked fine but now they always open on the wrong monitor. Is this just a bug we have to deal with until Adobe comes out with a solution or does anyone know of a workaround?

Dreamweaver CS4 MacOS X dialog boxes are displaying the wrong font

Just installed a free font I needed to use for a graphic design project. Opened up Dreamweaver to do a different project and found that all the text in the dialog box was being displayed in this font.
This is pretty maddening to look at - how do I change it back?

Er, uninstall the font?
Installing a new font should not do that to Dreamweaver. It sounds as though you have overwritten a system font.

Locked out of Dreamweaver bc of dialog box

I am trying to open Dreamweaver CC for the first time on my Mac. After the Welcome Screen window appears, I get the dialog box informing me about the sync settings with 3 buttons (Advanced, Disable, and Sync I think). But before I have time to hit any of those buttons, another dialog box opens on top asking me to log into the site. I keep entering my AdobeID login info but the dialog box just flashes and gives no error at all. Hitting Cancel does the same. So I cannot get past this dialog box to be able to use Dreamweaver. Once I was fast enough to hit "HTML" under "Create New" on the Welcome Screen. A new file opened but then the same dialog box appeared that I could not get past.
I assume the box is actually asking for login info for a site set up in Dreamweaver but since I have never opened this copy of Dreamweaver I don't have any sites saved. I am able to use Dreamweaver CC on my PC with no problems. I did not set up or manage sites on the PC version so even if the Mac is checking there it wouldn't find any sites saved.
I have tried quitting Dreamweaver, restarting the computer, uninstalling Dreamweaver, deleting the opm.db file, reinstalling Dreamweaver. The only change is that now I do not get the dialog about Sync settings. It just goes straight to this site login dialog. I'm running OS 10.8.5 and all my CC apps are up to date.

Dreamweaver CS4 - Update Template Files dialog box doesn't appear

I've just made a small change to my website's template file in Dreamweaver CS4, but I can't figure out how to apply the change to all pages on my site.
As I understand it, a dialog box is supposed to appear immediately after you hit 'Save'. This gives you 'Update' or 'Don't Update' options.
The box does not appear for me. No idea why - I saved the revised template and nothing happened!
Is there another way of updating the webpage files with the revised template? Or can it only be done though the dialog box? If so, how can I bring the box up?

Well, I'm not sure what rule I've broken. I followed the procedure set out in that tutorial to make my template in the first place, although I used Janine Warner's book 'Teach yourself Dreamweaver CS4' which goes through the same steps as the web tutorial - with the exception of the 'Apply your Dreamweaver template' section, which seems to suggest that you create your web pages first, and turn them into templates later.
I simply created my basic page layout, saved it as a template, and then created every page on my site by clicking 'New from template'. No problems, everything worked well.
I don't see why it would be necessary to create a new page from a template, and then apply the template to the page. Doesn't that amount to using two different methods to do the same thing twice? In any case, there's nothing in the book about 'Applying' a template, so I didn't do it. That's the only point of difference. But is it the problem? Is the book wrong?
Now I've got the book open in front of me at page 196 - 'Edit a template to update web pages created with it'. Interestingly, I may have discovered why it was not possible to edit my link in the Property Inspector.
The book remarks, more or less as an afterthought tacked on to the end of the page, that in order to use the Property Inspector to edit a template, I must first click on the element I wish to edit and then click 'Modify', 'Templates', and 'Make Attribute Editable'. Only then can changes be made.
The book says nothing about editing elements *without* using the Property Inspector, as I attempted when I tried the 'Insert Hyperlink' method, so I'm not sure whether this is possible or not. As it didn't work for me, I'd say not - but it would be nice if the book was specific on this point!
It's amazing how vague some of these tutorials can be - and also rather baffling that they can differ so much from each other. Website construction is all about specifics after all - everything is either 100% right, or 100% wrong. There shouldn't be any room for fuzziness. As it seems I have a specific problem, it must come from a specific, identifiable cause. It should be possible to say, "Ah, now if THAT is going wrong, the error must be HERE. Fix it by doing THIS."
Well, I'll try making the attributes of my elements editable now. I'm not sure if a text link counts as an element (that's another point on which my book is a little vague), but I dare say I'll find out shortly!

I haven't used IIS for a long time, so I can't give you a definitive answer about virtual directories. I use Apache virtual hosts, and they work without problem in Dreamweaver, but that's been true for as long as I can remember. There was definitely nothing new added to Dreamweaver CS6 with regard to server-side integration.
As for default documents, I've just checked Dreamweaver's Check Links Sitewide command. It doesn't support that type of link. However, it's an excellent suggestion for a future improvement. Why not file a feature request through the form at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform ?

Help using Dreamweaver cs3 tutorial, chapter 8, opening browser window dialog box

I am using the adobe classroom in a book tutorial for cs3 and have run into a snafu on page 188 of chapter 8. I have tried to select the + sign under the smaller top photo to create a pop-up window. when I select the + sign I cannot access the open browser window dialog box to enter info. I cannot seem to use the link field in the property inspector for this. The link area under source will not come up, just the link over target, which in turn will not bring up the open browser dialog box. Any solutions? Thanks, DesignChambers

I just had the same problem. I cannot preview in Mozilla (or IE). The program becomes unresponsive and I have to close it. Is there any chance that Adobe will update Dreamweaver CS3 so that we can preview in modern browsers?

Stuck in a dialog box loop in Dreamweaver

I wrote a javascript function. That is obviously incorrect and is causing a dialog box to loop and loop (no matter what the input is). Problem is, I can't get out of it, to get back to the code to fix it. It's not saved and I am wondering what I can do.

Can you uncheck the Live View button at all?
Otherwise I would copy the code in a text editor, then force quit DW.

How can I return to the last selected item in a dialog box

In OS 9 using Dreamweaver (for example) when I was adding images to a document, each time I added one the dialog box would return to the last selected image and I could just arrow down to the next in the list, add it (exiting the dialog box) and then repeat the process until I had added all the images in the folder. Now, using OS 10.4, after I add an image, and return to the add image dialog box it goes to the first item in the folder list instead of the last selected item. this really slows the process down, and when I'm adding 100 items or so, it's a real drag. I figure there has to be a way to get the dialog box to return to the last selected item, but I don't know what it is. Help!

CS6 Save/Save As dialog boxes not appearing

I recently installed CS6 Master Collection (educational version, if that's relevent) and in many of the programs, I can't save. In Illustrator, Dreamweaver and After Effects, I will get the spinning wheel for a moment and then nothing happens. In Photoshop, I will get the wheel for awhile before a message pops up saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." This happens whether I use the key command or go through the File drop down menu.
If I try to exit out of the file, I will be prompted to save or don't save, but if I click save, it will just close the window and not actually save the file.
However, I have no issues saving in Indesign or Flash. The print dialog box will also appear in the trouble programs. I also have CS5 on my computer (only ai, indd, and ps) and I can save in these programs without issue.
I am operating on a MacBook Pro version 10.7.5, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3.

Editing the folder links in DW,FW "Open/Save As" dialog box

i found apps to change the folder links in the left column of my various Windows7 Open/Save As dialog box, but it doesn't affect those in DW,FW. is there a way to do this?

Dialog Boxes

I'm trying to decide whether to convert from Visual Basic to Dreamweaver for content (and ultimately, website development). Does DW have a dialog box feature or some capability to open a Microsoft Word or Excel file? (the actual file, not just the resident data)
Until I develop a website, I'd like to use DW as a shell to manage files in presentations, including Microsoft, Flash, XML etc... Does this make sense or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Probably stating the obvious here, but anyway...
Each of the file formats you've mentioned will require specific software installation and browser plugins in order to view them from the Web. Well, I'm not sure if MS Office, per se, has any plugins for browsers. Users will typically get a Save As dialog box when clicking on a file without a corresponding browser plugin.
The Flash plugin has a very large installed base, so unless version is an issue, that should work well. PDF is well known, too, but users can and do configure PDF browser plugins how they like. That is, some users read PDFs in the browser and some read PDFs in the external PDF reader (typically Adobe Reader).
AFAIK, RTF files will be displayed in an external application, but I think all typical desktop/laptop OSen come with an RTF capable program installed.
MS Office is a generic title for several different suites of programs that create several different file formats. These files will very likely require the visitor to install an appropriate MS Office (do they need Access and Outlook?) suite - or Open Office.
The above requirements will still apply whether you use AIR, Director, Flash, a Web page, or VB to link to those files. But yes, you can create a Web page with links to those file formats.

Site definition dialog box

I'm very new to Dreamweaver and am trying to bring in a website design that I did in photoshop. Trouble is, all the tutorials I see mention the Site Definition Wizard which is supposed to be accessible through the Site Definition Dialog Box. My understanding is that when it should come up when I go to Site, New SIte. Trouble is, I get a Site Setup dialog box instead and can't figure out how to get to the Wizard. Any advice?

Site is for local settings
Servers is for your remote settings (FTP server, username, password etc)

Manage Sites Dialog Box Screen Redraw Problem

Using Dreamweaver CS6.0.1 on Mac Mountain Lion 10.8.2. When I open the "Manage Sites" dialog box, certain parts of the box are not visible unless I wave or click my mouse on that portion of the screen. Really sick of this. Also text entry into design view in Dreamweaver is maddeningly slow. I've got a fast Mac Pro with an SSD and 48 GB of RAM. Seriously would like to find the answers to these problems.

I have Dreamweaver CS6 on a MacBook Air with 4GB of RAM running OS X 10.8.2, and don't experience the problems you relate. However, there are some people on Macs who have been experiencing problems with 100% CPU and slow typing. Apparently these problems have been fixed in the Creative Cloud 12.1 update. If you're not a Creative Cloud subscriber, a fix should be coming shortly. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1100065.

Changing dialog box fonts

Hi all,
I've recently started a new job where the computer (mac Pro4 OS X 10.6.8) I'm using was being used by someone else before I started. When I open Dreamweaver (CS4 already installed when I got here) all of the dialog boxes have a strange block font which is hard to read and in some cases, cut off and I can't read what certain fields are supposed to be.
I tried fooling around with the preferences in dreamweaver and I reset all settings to default in dreamweaver, but nothing I tried made a difference.
Below is a screen shot of what I'm trying to explain. You can see the dark block font describing what each field is. All of the dialog boxes and properties panels are like this. How do I change this to something like arial or helvetica or anything that's easier to read than what's showing?

Thanks for the help. I've been working on cleaning up the font book for a while. I got rid of the duplicates and all of the fonts with red "x's". I restarted the computer and it hasn't changed.
Then I went through all of the fonts and deleted all of the fonts that looked similar. It's still there. I probably just haven't found the right font, but I appreciate your help.

How to stop "Create New CSS Rule" dialog box

Made the mistake of allowing an Apple tech talk me into an OS X "Install in place". He assured me that all application settings would remain the same as before.
Now, when holding down the "shift" key and typing a word in all caps (in Design View), the "Create new CSS Rule" dialog box pops up and writes:
