Dreamweaver display inconsistency

Hi all
I'm working in Dreamweaver CS3 on a Mac running Leopard and
I'm developing a
site using CSS. I'm finding a display inconsistency inside
Dreamweaver and
previewing in the browser.
If you have a look at
http://www.garrybradley.co.uk/Screenshots/Screenshot.html
you'll see what I'm talking about.
I know there are many variables here with Macs and the way
they render type
but there's plenty of room for the 'clients' type cell to be
up with the
'services' one as in the browser view. It's difficult to
design a page
properly when certain elements do this and jump to another
line without
knowing why.
Has anyone come across this whilst laying out a page with
CSS?

OK I'm going to answer my own question here and it was all
about finding the
correct CSS value to alter. It was a 'menu ul' width setting,
it wasn't wide
enough. Now it is and it's fine.
I'll look before I leap next time.

Text appearance in adobe acrobat (pro) files displays inconsistently unless you zoom in. Mainly 'i's and 'l's look bigger than they should.
    The pdfs print fine though.

Try doing a spotlight search for all files that start with AdobeFnt. They will be named AdobefntXX.lst, with the XX being some number. They will be scattered across the drive... After making sure that all Adobe applications are closed, trash all the adobefntxx.lst files, those with the 3 letter extension .lst.
Then, restart the system, and open the files in Acrobat again.
Otherwise, what happens in Safe boot? (Remember, Safe boot loads only a default set of fonts.) If they display fine there, the problem most likely is a font issue, one of the fonts that Adobe installed.
Check Adobe's web support page for troubleshooting Fonts.

Contact Adobe about the whole issue, it is after all, Adobe Acrobat... Adobe's contact number is 800 833 6687.

  • Editing Text in Dreamweaver Display View

I have just started using Dreamweaver CS4. In older versions
of Dreamweaver, I'm used to seeing text in Display view and being
able to edit the text directly in Display view, rather than having
to edit text in Code view. But when I'm trying to edit text in
Display view on a webpage that has text in a scrollable window,
Dreamweaver does not allow me to scroll down the scroll box, so I
can't edit text that is lower down in the scrollable area.
Anybody have an idea on how I can accomplish this?
    Thanks very much.

  • Dreamweaver displays differently Mac & PC

I have a file that renders fine in Dreamweaver MX or CS5.5 for Mac but in CS3 or CS5.5 for Windows it won't display correctly. It renders fine on the web. The issue seems to be with the interpretation of the CSS in the Windows version. The page backround which is supposed to be white renders navy blue and the headings which are anchors (using #tag) render as white on a white table so they can't be seen. Does anyone know of any specific quirks in the Windows versions that would cause this?

So you have 3 versions involved, MX, CS3 and 5.5.  The MX and CS3 will both render different from one another and from CS5.5.  The 5.5 version on Windows and Mac should render the same in all views.  However, you should only worry about Live View and the browser and not Design view.
If you are having issues with things not rendering properly you should first run your page through the validator and if you need further assistance we will need to see one of the pages in question.

  • Can dreamweaver display ?PHP include...

If I'm working on a client's site that uses includes with
ASP, dreamweaver will show the include for the asp pages, but if I
use includes in a PHP file, it won't show them (<?PHP include
    'folder/file.inc' ?>)
Is there any plugin for dreamweaver, or any future addition
that will allow me to see all includes on a PHP page in
    dreamweaver?

DW will display those in Design view. Or are you talking
    about in preview?
To see them in preview, you would need to have a PHP testing
    server defined.
    Do you?

  • CFFORM/Dreamweaver Display Issue

This is not exactly a Coldfusion question - but is sort of is
I just noticed that when I use <CFFORM>...</CFFORM> tags in Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver shows the form (in display mode) with an extra whitespace above the form. It doesn't display on the Web but it makes the document look different. If I temporarily change the CFFORM to HTML FORM tags, the space goes away.
The form is between 2 tables - but it seems to happen no matter where I move it
Anything I am missing on this?

  • Opening cfm file in dreamweaver displays unicode

hi. i'm brand new to coldfusion, and when i open a .cfm file
in dreamweaver 8, most of it is showing up in unicode. how do i
    make it legible?
    thanks!

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining Coldfusion
Administrator to me. My problem is that I've been giving an
application built by a 3rd party vendor, and my boss would like to
know how much we will be able to edit the application in-house.
They have given us all of the .cfm files and we host the server
running the app, so I have access to the dbs as well. But whenever
I try to open these .cfm files I see the encrypted characters. Is
there any way for me to edit these pages?

  • Yet another Dreamweaver Qwerk / Inconsistency

Alright, try this out step by step.
    1) Open a page in an established site, in one of the
subdirectories. We will call it /subdir1/
    2) Highlight some text and go to the "Properties" toolbar at
the bottom of the screen and click the yellow folder icon next to
    the "Link" box.
    3) Browse to another file in the same directory. Double click
it, and watch whats placed into the box. Most likely nothing other
than "filename.htm". Just as it should be.
    4) Select some other text.
    5) Click yellow folder and select a file in another
    subdirectory, well call it /subdir2/
    6) This will place the following into the box
    "../subdir2/filename.htm" As it should.
    All is well so far.
    7) Now take that exact same linked-text and click the folder
    icon
    8) Select a file from the current directory (youre still in
    subdir1 this whole time)
    9) Watch what appears in the box: "/subdir1/filename.htm"
I already know some of you are going "Huh?" This is because
you didnt follow the instructions above. The rest of you see the
problem. When you are in SUBDIR1 and you link to another file in
SUBDIR1, it works fine. When you have a link that is linking to
another subdirectory, and change it to link to a file in the
current subdirectory, it adds the name of the subdirectory to the
    HREF.
In other words, the exact same link shows up two different
    ways:
    filename.htm
    /subdir1/filename.htm
Depending on whether its a new link being created, or if its
an existing link which was linking outside the directory.
This is difficult to describe but unless someone can explain
it to me, im calling it another Bug.

It's not a bug. Your steps do not produce your symptoms for
    me.

  • Dreamweaver CSS displayed overlaps

I am using Dreamweaver 8 and when I was loading a page in
Dreamweaver and as usual typing ahead something briefly flashed and
disappeared. I assume it was some dialogue asking some question. I
never saw what it was but the end result was when Dreamweaver
loaded the page it was overlapping areas in the Dreamweaver
display. I've posted these before and after shots to show what
    happened at DoylePark.com/dwerror.
I can't figure out what happened nor make sense of it because
if I load the page to the website it displays just fine but not in
Dreamweaver. Any suggestions on what happened? (I suspect
Dreamweaver was asking some display question and deleted or changed
something.) It has also affect every page on that web site (within
Dreamweaver) though not in other websites that use essentially the
same CSS style sheet - those still display ok so I assume the
    problem is site specific.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

If you are using an external stylesheet, it's probably a bad path to the CSS file.
    See this link:

If that doesn't help, upload page to your web server and post a URL.

  • Error in Acrobat 8: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly...?

    Hi,
We perform the e-signing on any PDF using our custom e-signature plug-in. Once that's done, when we try re-opening the PDF in Acrobat version 8.0.0.0, we get the following error:-
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
Please note that this error occurs intermittently and is NOT observed in Acrobat 7 or 9.  Also, when a plain PDF is opened (i.e. a PDF without any signature on it) then there is NO error.
Could you let me know what could be the issue here? I read it in Acrobat 8.1.3 release notes that such an error was a known bug in version 8.0.0.0 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407016.html), but I am not sure of its cause.
    Let me know your comments/suggestions.
    Thanks!

I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

Are those the same pages? The first one is a page formatted
    by CSS. The file
you are opening appears to be formatted with Tables.
Otherwise, it's likely an issue of DW just not handling the
    CSS properly.
    Nothing new.

  • Flash movie display

    hello
i have built this site, www.emsworthcricketclub.com
for internet explorer 8, and below, there is a short flash film.
can anyone help me get rid of the horrible borders at the top?
    thanks
    malcolm

I believe it has to do with the js call to the swf not
updating although I don’t understand why there is a change to
be updated when the triggering event is a null change to the
template. Active content to run in files on my computer was not
enabled, but enabling it does not correct the problem. The problem
is exhibited in IE, Firefox, and Netscape. I have not tested
    others.
I have tried using both site relative & document relative
paths, both methods exhibit the same problem, an invisible swf in
    the preview.
I have found a work around to bring back the swf display in
preview. Within Dreamweaver Local Files, move the template files
from the Template directory to the root directory, and then move it
back to the template directory. The links are updated with each
move and I find it’s best to not have any files or pages open
    in the Dreamweaver display.
Yesterday I reported the issue was relative to preview only,
but I retract that today. Yesterday I built a sample site to
exhibit the problem but the problem only occurs in preview and not
on the sample site, www.kenbits.com. The site I’m working on
today exhibits the problem both in preview and on the site. Here
    are two sample pages,
    home.comcast.net/~woods_of_pardee/indexok.htm, &
    home.comcast.net/~woods_of_pardee/indexbroken.htm.
Thank you for your continued support and research on my
    problem.
