Dreamweaver, DropBox and FTP Issues

In the past couple of days, I've run into a new issue with DreamWeaver and the only logical explanation I can come up with is the following.
I have DreamWeaver set to put the file on save. So it goes right out to my server. 99% of the time, I'll run into a "Access denied.  The file may not exist locally,  may be open in another program, or there could be a local permission problem." error.
Nothing has changed on my server that should affect this problem. I started using DropBox perhaps 2 years ago, and have kept all of my files in DropBox for easy access and security (auto backups). Never had a problem until this week.
I'm seeing this error in Dreamweaver CS6 and Dreamweaver CC on multiple machines. The only thing I can think of is the following.
Dreamweaver Saves the file.
Dreamweaver lets go of the file for a second.
DropBox grabs the file and starts uploading it to their servers.
DropBox actually locks the file during this process (guessing here).
Dreamweaver tries to grab the file, and since it's locked by DropBox, it can't take control of it locally.
Dreamweaver kicks back the error above.
If I immediately select the file, right click and say "put" it works without issue. Every time. It simply won't put on save.  I presume I could test this by moving the files out of DropBox and seeing if it stops. Was curious if anyone has seen this issue, and if there might be a way to delay the "put on save" by 1-2 seconds, giving DropBox enough time to grab, put and let go of the file I'm working on.

Hi WesLinda,
Have you enabled the option "Automatically upload to server on Save" in server settings Advanced tab. If not try that. You will not have to upload the files manually.
If you still get the issue. Do a test and then see what happens.
1) Stop the Dropbox services for a while by ending the related processes from the Task Manager or disable the services from Startup item and reboot the computer.
2) Work on files in DW and then check how much time it takes.
3) Restore the DropBox services back.
Thanks
Bhawna

Dreamweaver CS3 (9) maxed CPU slow performance and FTP
    issues.
    Never mind...I found it.
Of course I have all the firewall, worm, scanning, phishing
filtering, full time protect, and everything else turned off when I
am working on a remote/testing site however I found the Symantec
antivirus email scan being enabled (doesn't it just interact with
my email program?) was getting in the way of DW9 ftp operations,
causing some lagging that was putting DW9 into an unstable mode
during and immediately after (10 seconds) ftp operations.
The CPU still spikes to 99% during ftp functions but DW9
works even though it's likely taxed to the max but when I turn off
email scan DW9 returned to a functioning state during ftp and
remote file view. Whatever it takes huh?
PS: email scanning only never effected DW8.02
My System Info: properly configured (as in: everything works
    or I fix it) Toshiba - XP pro SP2 – Pentium 4 - 2.3GHz
    – 1.5 GB ram – Intel extreme graphics card 64 MB ram
    – Apache 2.2 server – PHP 5 – MySQL 5 -

    3.7.1 – Dreamwweaver 9 - DeVtoolbox – Flash –
    GoLive - Photoshop - ImageReady – Illustrator – Acrobat
    – CuteFTP – Putty SSH - blabla...)

Thanks for the response. I managed to Google the 'nobody' account and found the explanation.
As you say, I assumed the 'syslogd' process had to do with system logs. I did check the console and couldn't find anything of particular interest in the logs.
I'll continue to monitor but if anyone has any further suggestions please post.
One thing that might also have an impact... my available drive space is now down to less than 5gb (runs anywhere between 1gb and 5gb free depending on what I'm running). I know this causes problems for Parallels as it keeps moaning at me, but would it cause any problems with OSX?
    Thanks again,

  • DW CS3 locked files and FTP issues - cannot update pages

I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3 and now cant seem to
update any of my web pages. I can connect to the server etc and see
my files locally & remotely but when I try check out a file to
update it I get an error message saying 'index.html is a locked
file and can be viewed but not changed'. All I can do with it is
view it. When I try to unlock any files locally nothing happens????
This was not an issue before I upgraded.....I have checked my
FTP details with a version on my pc and there are exactly the
same.....does anyone know is this an issue with mac version of
    Dreamweaver CS3?
    Help!!!

Can you post a link to your child or template page and tell
    us what you have
    changed that didn't propagate?
Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done). If
    you *have
done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DWCS3) using
    FILE | New > Page
from Template, select the template and click CREATE.
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and FTPS

Crystaltech, my hosting service, this last weekend removed
FTP as an option to connect to their servers, instead touting the
FTPS format/protocol. Now Dreamweaver won't connect to my server
and I have to use FileZilla to download files, open in Dreamweaver,
save changes in Dreamweaver, load FileZilla, connect to server,
upload, then refresh browser for changes. This is INSANE!! What
used to take a minute for changes is now taking 5.
Here are my questions: Has anyone else encountered this, and
if so, what solution did you use or is everyone having to do this
multi-step process for file editing? Is there a 3rd-party add-in
extension which handles this issue that I should know about? Will
the developing team @ Adobe be addressing an upgrade/add-in to
    support this more-safe technology?

I have CrystalTech and Dreamweaver gets and, puts just fine.
    Make sure the

  • Dropbox and systemd issues...

    Hello!
I've installed Dropbox from the AUR, and am starting it for my user using sytemd (sytemctl enable [email protected]).
It works fine, but it seems that the actual dropboxd executable only executes a "local one" from my home directory (~/.dropbox-dist/dropbox).
This seems to cause systemd trying to restart it all over again, which has to fail as dropbox is already running...

Did I do wrong? If yes, could you help me out here and tell me what I shoud do instead? E.g. start dropboxd usint .xinitrc/.xsession?
    Thanks in advance!

I don't know why, but on my home server systemd launch ~/.dropbox-dist/dropbox too.
I just remove all (exclude ~/.dropbox and ~/Dropbox folders) off old versions files from $HOME, /opt and /usr (include /usr/lib/systemd/system/dropbox*) and reinstall dropbox with yaourt. Then `sudo systemctl start dropbox@$USER.service` work normally

  • DHCP and FTP issues.

I have a server setup running server 2012 R2 with DHCP and filezilla for FTP, and a desktop running windows 7. The server can ping the desktop, but
the desktop can not ping the server, however the desktop can get a DHCP address from the server. How can I get it to connect to the ftp service? I choose to use filezilla because I could not get the anonymous logon to work for IIS.

    Hi,
Have you checked windows firewall on the server side if allows ICMP, by default firewall is on and blocking ICMP.
    http://www.sysprobs.com/how-to-enable-ping-on-windows-server-2012-r2-firewall
Also see if port 21 for FTP (assuming filezzila using default port) is allowed in firewall.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dropbox and iPhoto issues

Ever since 2/22, I have seen some of my photos stored on my iPod getting downloaded by Dropbox 3 times (2/22, 2/25, and 2/27). When I downloaded my iPod's photo library to iPhoto 9.2.3, I get asked if I still want the downloaded photos to be stored on my iPod. When I tell it to delete the photos it has just downloaded to my photo library, it never actually deletes them from my iPod (which might be causing drop box to see some of my pictures as new) Why aren't they being deleted from my iPod when I've told iPhoto to delete the imported photos?

There is no way to remove the "Solved" mark, sorry.
I'm using the newest one available for my 5th gen iPod Touch.
Is that iOS 8.1? If yes, do you have iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled in the Setting > Photos & Camera? With this option enabled, your photos are stored in iCloud as well as on your iPod, and they can no longer be deleted, when you download them. Either disable iCloud Photo Library (Beta), or delete the photos manually in the Photos.app.

i have created a site in dreamweaver and as far as i am aware the site works great, i have hosting and webspace with 1and1 and have connected to their servers via ftp, i have to manually upload the site and cannot seem to get the webpages themselves to upload, only the *images* folder and *scripts* upload successfully, i have tried everything i can to resolve this but have had no luck whatso ever, any help would be much appreciated, thanks

May be you can try steps suggested in the troubleshooting document. Most of the points mentioned there are also applicable on DW CS6.

  • FTP Broken in Dreamweaver CS6 and CC

I have been unable to ftp into 1 of 3 websites that I maintain ever since upgrading to Dreamweaver CS6 (and now CC). The problem appears to be that the site's root directory name as reported by a PWD command is shorter than the name required to be issued by the CWD command after logging into the FTP server. CS5.5 logs into the website's FTP server without any trouble and the script looks like this:
< 220 Service Ready for new User
    > USER .myusername
< 331 Password Needed for Login
    > PASS
< 230 User HUBING Logged in Successfully
    > PWD
    < 257 "/EH05/users/hubing" is Current Directory
    > PWD
    < 257 "/EH05/users/hubing" is Current Directory
    > CWD //gs16/gs16/share/web/cvel
    < 250 Directory successfully changed to "/gs16/SHARE/web/cvel"
    > PWD
    < 257 "/gs16/SHARE/web/cvel" is Current Directory

    > LIST
Dreamweaver CS6 and Dreamweaver CC start out correctly, then suddenly issue a QUIT command:
< 220 Service Ready for new User
    > USER myusername
< 331 Password Needed for Login
    > PASS
< 230 User HUBING Logged in Successfully
    > PWD
    < 257 "/EH05/users/hubing" is Current Directory
    > CWD /EH05/users/hubing
    < 250 Directory successfully changed to "/EH05/users/hubing"
    > CWD //gs16/gs16/share/web/cvel
    < 250 Directory successfully changed to "/gs16/SHARE/web/cvel"
    > PWD
    < 257 "/gs16/SHARE/web/cvel" is Current Directory
    > QUIT
    < 221 Closing Session
    Any suggestions?

    Bhawna,
Yes. I can establish a connection without defining the site root folder. The directory that I login to by default is /EH05/users/hubing. One of the other sites that I maintain is in a subdirectory of that folder and Dreamweaver CC connects to that site without any problem. It just isn't able to switch to //gs16/gs16/share/web/cvel. Dreamweaver CS5.5 and WSFTP don't seem to have any problem with this.
Unfortunately, I can't send you the .ste file, because the password can't be shared. I appreciate your help though!

  • Dreamweaver to CFB (FTP and other gripes)

I 'get' the potential benefits of moving to CFB from Dreamweaver. I have watched all the videos and read the manual and I love the integration with Flex.
    BUT
It appears very little thought has been put into the FTP and synchronisation tools..
    Ideally:
I would like to set the destination FTP address for each project (at the moment although it asks me from the subdirectory, it shows me the top level root and I have to drill down each time for the destination where I want to upload)
I don't want to see nor have editing capabilities on my remote files by default.
Accidents happen and I'd rather they happened locally.
Accidentally deleting a directory remotely could be disastrous.
When the FTP client is busy, the rest of the IDE goes to sleep.  Dreamweaver sorted this out two versions ago.
There appears no way to stop the interaction with the remote server.
So until all these (pretty fundamental) issues get sorted. I ill probably use FB to play with CF9 and jump back to Dreamweaver to use their robust FTP tools.  (which just leaves me with the version control issues now that I have to put my FB source files into the wwwroot of my local server). Again a real pain !
Has anyone else found these problems - or worked out how to get around them ?
    R8_UK

R8_UK, I hear your concerns, and they're rather common. I hope I can address
(and resolve) some of them here for you.
First, I use the FTP feature all the time and it never makes the IDE
"sleep". You may want to turn on the progress view (window>show
view>other>general>progress). It will tell you what's happening as FTP
processes are running. It will also tell you other processes going on in the
editor. You may be surprised to find something else causing the "sleeps" you
    sense.
As for you saying that "it shows me the top level root and I have to drill
down each time for the destination where I want to upload", again I don't
have that problem. Are sure you didn't just make a mistake in setting up the
FTP connection? Admittedly, changing them is tough. You have to go to the
File view, and there you'll see what FTP (or FTPS or SFTP) connections
    you've made.
Or do you mean that you ARE using the File view, and it's when you open that
that it makes you drill down? Well, you don't need to do that. You can
instead connect your project to an FTP connection (either in the project
properties and its synchronization section, or by just right-clicking
anywhere in the project and choose Synchronize>Create New Synchronize
    Connection).
If you do that, then it also solves a common complaint I hear from some,
that it's complicated to do an FTP upload in CFBuilder. Well, I just right
click on the file (or on the editor workspace to upload the file I'm working
on, such as after changing and testing it locally), then choose
    Synchronize>Upload. Bang, done.
There is also a more evolved "synchronize" feature that lets you do more
(including comparing the contents of a file locally to remote, which comes
in really handy). There's an even still more evolved interface in
Window>Show View>Other>HTML Standard Views>Sync Explorer. The latter two
come closer to the kind of two-paned interface for managing local/remote
files that some expected in DW.
Of course, different people have different desires for FTP access. You have
said you do NOT want to edit the file directly on the remote server. I hope
what I share above helps you. But those who DO like editing on the remote
server (indeed, at their peril) will groan that they wish they didn't have
to do even that simple manual effort to upload: they wish that on save it
would upload. I don't know if we can ever expect that from within a local
project in Eclipse. It just goes against the grain of better development
practices, and it's one area where perhaps it's a good thing if the IDE
    pushes one to reconsider that.
Until then, though, they can indeed use the File view, which does provide
direct access to a remote server and its files. With that, you do open the
remote file in the IDE and when you save it, it's pushed immediately to the
    server.
Hope some of this helps you (and others) with your consternation with CFB
and FTP. Come on in, the water's fine. (But I'll grant that's a relative
statement. If you're still not sold, keep pointing out your concerns.)

  • Dreamweaver and DNS issue

Ok folks. I am looking for some major help with what seems
like it would be a simple solution. But it has proved to be a very
    difficult one.
    Here is the story-
I have a website. I use dreamweaver to upload (FTP)
everything. My host recently did some DNS things and changed my IP
address without letting me know. So when I went to FTP somethings
on my website, it wouldn't work. Nor would my website come up on my
laptop. So I got the new IP from the host agent (which now I am
sharing and IP- not sure if that is good???). I am able to FTP with
my dreamweaver. But I cannot see my website!!!!!! I can see it on
everybody else's computer but not my MAC laptop. Does anybody have
a solution for me??? I have tried everything and spent hours on the
phone with Applecare- nothing. It seems like a simple CACHE
problem. Flush the cache and my laptop will be able to go to the
new IP address, right????? But something isn't working because I
have flushed my cache with Terminal, I did it manually with
applecare staff, etc... nothing seems to work and I am desperate.
If anybody has suggestions, please let me know.
    Thank you.

  • Installation issues including AAM, Dreamweaver CS6 and Phtoshop CS6

    Hi Everyone,
This discussion is a continuation of a thread that was started in the 'Creative Cloud' discussion forum.  It's important to read this discussion first to get a background regarding the underlying issues first.
To continue, this new discussion will keep the issue in the open - I don't want it hidden away as I believe others may benefit from suggestions and issues along the way.
    Quick recap:
My UK organisation purchased 6 licences each of Photoshop CS6, Dreamweaver CS6 and Acrobat 10 via an Adobe License Certificate.
The license keys were given to me to download and install the software.
I downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/downloads but on installing was told that the key was invalid.
Contacted Adobe support several times and finally found that the software had to be downloaded from https://licensing.adobe.com.
Didn't have an account as these are held by my organisation's purchasing team.
Adobe added my details to my company's account eventually.
    Downloaded and installed the software.
At fisrt I used the software and, as with most software rushed through for a deadline, discovered various bugs (mainly in Dreamweaver it has to be said, as I haven't really had chance to use the other two products yet).  So...
Attempted the automatic update process.  This failed due to restrictions on our firewall.
Checked the Adobe site which said check the log files.  Checked the log files and found a warning (this is detailed in the other post metnioned above).
Chatted with Adobe support twice at this point to try and pinpoint the issues.  They suggested downloading the updated updater(!).
Dreamweaver update process went 65% of the way through before freezing with 5 seconds left on the clock and Photoshop failed altogther saying that the updater was invalid.  Dreamweaver gave me the error number U44M2I218, as discussed in the other thread by Ken.
I completely uninstalled every Adobe product, including Flash and Air
and ran the Cleaner Tool. After reinstalling and attempting the upgrade process for only Photoshop and Dreamweaver I received the same issues as discussed previously.
For some reason this caused issues with my OS and I've had to rebuild.  This time I'm running Windows 7 instead of XP SP3, but these products are not getting installed until someone from Adobe
can give me clear direction as to what I need to do.
To bring this up to date I received a PM this morning from Jeff Wright.  The message reads:
    To: mandelbrot
    From: Jeff A Wright
    Sent: 23-Oct-2012
Subject: Private Message: Regarding your updating difficulties
    Good day Paul Weston,
I am contacting you regarding the difficulties you have been having applying the Dreamweaver 12.0.2 update.  If you have contacted our support team if you can please provide me with the case number it will allow me to review your interaction.  In addition if you can please let me know your preferred e-mail address we can bring this conversation into e-mail as opposed to sending private messages back and forth.  This will be especially important when we need to look at your installation logs for the update which you are having difficulty applying.
    Thank you,
         Jeff Wright
    My reply:
    Hi Jeff,
Unfortunately I don't have any case number(s) even though I spoke to several of your colleagues in India, bit via chat and telephone.  Each time no case number was given to me.  At one point I did fill out a survey, also!
If you can trace it from this, my email address is <<emailadress>>, I'm linked to <<organisation>>NHS Trust and our primary contact used to be a gentleman called Eddie Drake (either <<emailaddress>> or <<emailaddress>>).  Failing that, our software license certificate number is <<id>>, end user id (whatever that is) is <<id>> and our Adobe order number for this consignment is <<id>>.
I don't want to hide this away from the community and have opened a new discussion to this end - any PMs or emails will be dropped into this unless you choose to use the discussion as a contact method.
    Paul.
Please feel free to add constructive comments anyone.
    Regards,
    Paul.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?
