Dreamweaver/Fireworks javascript error

I've been using Fireworks and Dreamweaver for a while.
I'm rebuilding our website, and made my navigation
bar/buttons in Fireworks just like I did on the previous page.
exported as html.
then I went to dreamweaver and inserted fireworks html... The
buttons worked for a while. one day when I was home I thought I'd
work on it some more, and ever since, whenever I insert the button,
i get this error...
"while executing object tag in fireworks html a javascript
error occured"
i can even start with a blank html file and insert any
fireworks file, even the one that works on the current site, and I
get that error.
I created a new simple button, and still get that error...
The only thing I can think of that's might could have caused
this... at work I have the newer CS3 suite and Dreamweaver 4, and
at home I just have Dreamweaver 4.
Could something have caused this by using both versions when
working on this new site?

> it leaves some javascript code in there...
Oh. I see.
> thanks i will check them out...
Way better than the FW menus.
Good luck.

  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 Javascript error

    I was using adobe dreamweaver CS6 Without any problems
    But today i tryed to open adobe dream weaver and i get A lot of javascript errors like MMinit.htm and many other startup errors.
    When startup errors end then the program is starting but when i do something, example opening an html or something i get a lot more java script errors and then the program crash
    I uninstalled adobe dream weaver and installed it again but still the same problem after reinstall
    Help please

    Have you tried clearing the program cache file?
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
    Even after a plain reinstall, DW will leave files behind that can affect your program. If you uninstall, make sure to run the Cleaner Tool before you reinstall to get a completely fresh installation of the program...

  • Dreamweaver and Javascript error only on one site

    I receive the following error when trying to select recently modified files from the files panel.
    While executing onClick in SelectRecentlyModified.html, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
    At line 370 of file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver  CS5\Configuration\Menus\MM\SelectRecentlyModified.js":  DWfile.getAttributes(listItem) has no properties
    I have 4 sites built in DW and only one site is giving this error.  After many days of searching the web and trying the few steps I can find on the web related to this error I still have not resolved it.
    I am using CS5 Suite, Win XP, have IE7 and Firefox but my default brower is Firefox.

    I've now tried that command on multiple sites, including brand new ones I created solely for testing purposes. I also tested it on the same site files on my testing server and in my Subversion repository. I got the same error message every time. This leads me to believe the problem is with the script itself.  I would really like to be able to use this feeature.
    In addition, the Dreamweaver Help for this feature (copied below) suggests I should be seeing options in this feature's dialog box that I'm not seeing:
    Find recently modified files in your site
    In the collapsed Files panel (Window > Files), click the Options menu in the upper-right corner of the Files panel, and then select Edit > Select Recently Modified.
    Do one of the following to indicate search dates for the report:
    To report on all files modified in the last several days, select Files Created or Modified in the Last and enter a number in the box.
    To report on all files modified within a specific time frame, click the Files Created or Modified in the Between radio button, then specify a date range.
    (Optional) Enter a user name in the Modified By box to limit your search to files modified by a specific user between the dates you indicated.Note: This option is only available for reports on Contribute sites.
    Select a radio button to indicate where you want to view files listed in the report, if necessary:
    Local Machine
    if the site contains static pages.
    Testing Server
    if the site contains dynamic pages.Note: This option assumes you defined a Testing Server in the Site Definition dialog box (XREF). If you have not defined a Testing Server and entered a URL prefix for that server, or if you are running the report for more than one site, this option is not available.
    Other Location
    if you want to enter a path in the text box.
    Click OK to save your settings.Dreamweaver highlights the files that were modified within the selected time frame in the Files panel.
    I have set up a testing server for the site (I'm running Apache on my local Mac), and it works. Yet I do not see any option in the dialog box to indicate that I can view the files in a different location. But it's a moot point since I can't view them in any location due to the javascript error.
    Adobe, please advise.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Javascript Errors

    Dreamweaver cs4 on one of my computers displays javascript errors everytime any page that includes server behaviors is opened.  Other computer has same version of software, opening the same pages, and it doesn't happen.  How can I fix this problem?

    12. Recreate the Dreamweaver user configuration folder.Windows:
    For Dreamweaver CS3, see "How to re-create the Dreamweaver user configuration folder (CS3 on Windows XP, Vista)" (TechNote kb401118).
    For Dreamweaver 8, see "Re-creating the Dreamweaver user configuration folder on Windows" (TechNote 36bda422)
    Macintosh:
    Quit Dreamweaver
    In the Mac Finder, browse to the following folder:
    Dreamweaver CS3:
    Mac HD/Users/[user]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 9/Configuration
    Dreamweaver 8:
    Mac HD/Users/[user]/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Dreamweaver 8/Configuration
    Rename the folder to "Configuration Old"
    Restart Dreamweaver and see if the problem persists.

  • Dreamweaver 6.1 - JavaScript error when switching between open tabs

    When switching between open tabs a sequence of javascript
    errors occurs. I had not used Dreamweaver for about 2 weeks, and
    last time I used it with no problems.
    I have tried uninstalling it, OKing removal of all files when
    asked, re-installing it and updating with dwmx61_updater.exe, but I
    still get the same errors.
    This has rendered the software virtually unuseable, so any
    help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm working to a
    rapidly-approaching deadline.
    "While executing Browse_Back enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    followed by
    "While executing Browse_Forward enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    followed by
    "While executing Browse_Stop enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    The relevant code seems to be :
    <!-- Browser nav toolbar -->
    <toolbar id="Browser_Toolbar" platform="win"
    label="Browser Navigation" container="document"
    initiallyVisible="false">
    <button id="Browse_Back"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/back.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/back_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Back"
    label="Back"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.isCmdEnabled('back')"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.backPage()"
    update="onEveryIdle"/>
    <button id="Browse_Forward"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/forward.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/forward_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Forward"
    label="Forward"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.isCmdEnabled('forward')"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.forwardPage()"
    update="onEveryIdle"/>
    <button id="Browse_Stop"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/stop.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/stop_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Stop"
    label="Stop"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.getPageBusy()"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.stopPage()"
    update="onBrowserPageBusyChange"/>
    <button id="Browse_Refresh"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/browserRefresh.gif"
    tooltip="Refresh"
    label="Refresh"
    enabled="true"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.refreshPage()"/>
    presumably the next error is caused by the previous ones
    failing :
    "While executing getCurrentValue in AddressURL.htm, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    the relevan tcode :
    function getCurrentValue()
    var dom = dw.getDocumentDOM();
    var value = dom.browser.getURL();
    if (value && value.length)
    //check if is it not a temp file
    //extract the tail of the url
    var filename = value;
    var slashIndex = filename.lastIndexOf("/");
    filename = filename.substring(slashIndex+1);
    var tempIndex = filename.indexOf("TMP");
    if (tempIndex != 0)
    addRecentAddress(value);
    return value;

    You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this folder -
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
    (these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • Fix for Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 JavaScript Error With All ASPX Files

    Entire morning wasted.
    Adobe's upgrade to Dreamweaver 2014 to 2014.1 on Windows 7 Professional has broken the product across the board and it no longer opens any .aspx pages correctly.  A large number of people use .NET and now we can no longer access/use these files/pages without multiple JavaScript errors.  Particularly those that have edited the MMDocumentTypes file to make the product work in the first place since they stopped supporting the users that develop in ASP.NET.
    Every time a .aspx file is now opened, the following JavaScript error is received: "While executing translateCustomControl in ExternalRenderers.html, a JavaScript error occurred.  Click 'close' and it appears again...over and over.  Our sites are all unable to open in DW because of this.  It worked fine in earlier versions of DW, including 2014.  It's only 2014.1 that broke everything.
    The fix for this:
    1. Follow instructions on this out-of-date help file: Change, add recognized file extensions | Dreamweaver
    2. (and the part that's new): The MMDocumentTypes file is located in  C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\Configuration\DocumentTypes directory. Open that file and add aspx back to the <documenttype id="HTML"> declaration at the top.
    I am posting this issue here in hopes that some of the users won't waste most of the day trying to figure this out.
    Chris Lee

    Hi Ivan,
    I'm having that exact same problem now...in addition to that JavaScript error message coming back.  I submitted a bug report last week about this and received the following reply:
    Hi Chris,
    We would like to let you know that we able to reproduce this issue at our end. Thanks for reporting this.
    We will try to prioritize it for fixing. This might take some time. We thank you for your patience with us in this regard.
    Please let us know if you need help regarding anything else. We will be more than happy to help you.
    Thanks,

    Hopefully they can get this fixed soon, as it's ground my work in the software to a halt.

  • Javascript error message loading dreamweaver mx

    this may be two different questions but here goes:
    -- i downloaded the interakt kollection a while back and just
    got time to use it. by now i noticed that a newer version was
    available so i downloaded it. but it crashed my machine trying to
    update. and an error message now comes up about a javascript error
    trying to load one of the interakt files. i put the system back 24
    hours but the same error comes up. i click okay and dreamweaver mx
    continues, but what does it mean?
    -- i'm just starting php programming and perform the simplest
    function, saving a .php site in apache2\htdocs and a file within
    the site. but when i try to run the php from the livedata view, i
    get a http 404 message about the doc not found. no wonder: the doc
    is not the one i saved, but has a longer file name. tried this a
    couple of times with different file names and the same thing
    happens. suggestions please.
    thanks,
    michael

    Michael
    You may need to uninstall and then reinstall DW &
    Interakt. The issue that
    you are probably running into is that Interakt changed some
    of the DW files
    which worked until the DW 8.02 update came out, and rewrote
    those files. The
    Interakt updater probably relies on finding the updated DW
    files.
    When you preview a file DW creates a temporary version of it,
    and runs that,
    and then deletes it. You can not reference these temporary
    versions in any
    other way.

  • How do I fix a javascript error when opening Dreamweaver?

    DW CS6 recently started having 2 JavaScript errors while opening the application and at least 1 additional JavaScript error when using the Insert Image command.  Can someone provide some advice on fixing this issue?

  • Cs6 dreamweaver - javascript error with Clean up Word HTML . . .

    Very recently upgraded to CS6 from CS5.5. Every now and then, I have to run the Clean up Word HTML Commands function for a client. Never had a problem before. This time, I got this message:
    While executing onClick in Clean Up Word HTML.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
    At line 2012 of the "Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CS6:Configuration:commans:Clean Up Word HTML.js"
    The object is not currently contained in a document.
    I searched through the Discussions and found refernce to deleting MacFileCache-###.dat file in the Library Configuration folder for Dreamweaver CS 6. Did that, same thing. It also mentioned deleted the entire Configuration folder. Same result.
    I called tech support and was directed to go through the (count 'em) 14 steps on the Troubleshoot JavaScript page -- http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html. Still no luck.
    Anyone else out there having this problem? What am I missing? Help!

    Hi SnakEyes02,
    That could be. Let me know when you have grabbed these. They were Word docs that I saved the same way I always have done (Save As, Format: Web Page (.htm)), creating .htm files that work in CS5.5 Dreamweaver and earlier versions.

  • Javascript Errors in Dreamweaver!!!!!!!!!!

    I am getting a very annoying error message from Dreamweaver
    and I can't determine from where it is coming.
    The dialog pops up and says:
    "The script c:\Program
    Files\macromedia\dreamweaver\configuration\shared\common\scripts\dwscriptsExtData.js
    has been running for a long time. Do you want to continue?"
    If I answer "Yes", it just keeps coming back with the
    question above.
    If I answer "No", It gives me another dialog and says an
    error occured in the script because the user decided to quit the
    scirpt!!!!!
    Aughhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Then is does it all again and I have to answer the questions
    two times every time this happens.
    I have searched high and low to try and find the problem. It
    is going to take someone who has seen this to help me.
    I have been using Dreamweaver for almost a year now and this
    just started happening. I am not the Coldfusion manager so I have
    no clue what the server is doing or if the configuration has
    changed to cause this behavior.
    Thanks for any help...

  • Dreamweaver CC wont work Javascript Errors

    This just started withing the last few days. It might be due to a restore I did on my Mac from a time capsule. It's the only thing I can think of.
    "Unable to open script file" Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CC:Configuration:Shared:MM:Scripts:CMN:..." and a number of .js files within this folder like string.js, TemplateUtils.js and others because they are missing. the folder is empty...
    I can't use the program because these notices pop up non-stop.
    I looked at this help article "http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html# main_special_char" but it doesn't seem to apply to CC, at least the locations seem to be different.
    How can I get these files?
    Thanks

    It applies to CC, the locations are the same you have to turn on hidden files to see the folder you need to access.
    #4 from that list usually takes care of Javascript errors when opening the program.
    Here's a better page for that info: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
    Turning on hidden files is a bit trickier on a Mac I guess, but one of these should work for you...
