Dreamweaver freezing
I'm having a problem with Drewamweaver (CS3). Everything appears to be working fine until I try to open a page to edit. The page will not open, hovering over the work area brings up a timer and Dreamweaver freezes and has to be shut down. I've re-installed CS3, to no avail. As I wasn't asked to re-key the seial number and the re-installed software immediately recognised all the web sites and their FTP's and passwords, I assume it wasn't completely un-installed meaning any bugs may still have been there.
I have CS3 installed on my laptop so I transferred the files across. I was able to open pages from a couple of older web sites, however as soon as I tried to open a page from my most recent site, it froze again, and won't let me open any pages from any sites. The assumption must be that the problem lies with the new site or something in it. Any ideas how to track the problem and deal with it?
Thanks,
Ian MacLeod

Dreamweaver freezes on design view
I am having issues with dreamweaver freezing in design view. when i click on design view, it crashes, and i have to restart. i have tried multiple installs, as well as uncheck "display external files". what else could be the issue? is there a new update for it that may fix this?
I wish I had the answer to that question myself. I just purchased Dreamweaver 6 this morning. The program is freezing upon opening any document. If I wait long enough,, it un-freezes just long enough to start working on the file. Then in less than a minute it freezes yet again. I have not been able to find any help regarding this situation. I have tried every single suggestion that I could find,, but nothing seems to work.

Dreamweaver Freezes when I use the query mobile swatch panel
Every time I open and use the jquery mobile swatch panel, dreamweaver freezes and stops working. I have to force it to close. This problem started when I upgraded to CC 2 days ago... never with CS6.
Any help or suggestions would be great.
Thanks.Ok, I don't have a crash report and all, but I have reported my issue in reports to Adobe.
Adobe CS5 Mac OS 10.6.7 iMac (Intel) 2010
Happened several times since I use this effect quite a bit.
I have a block of area text with a placed .psd photo which has possibly a clipping path (or not) and a separate stroke box for a border, grouped together and then a drop shadow applied. Then select both group and text block and apply text warp. Then select just the photo group and try to nudge it by using the arrow keys on my Apple factory shipped keyboard.
Usually hit the arrow key 3 to 4 times before I realize that I get the spinning wheel of death and finally crash.
Can anyone duplicate this? -
Dreamweaver freezes - EasyRotator?
Dreamweaver freezes - It has been working fine until yesterday. It opens up fine until an HTML file opens and the HTML Corrections starts correcting invalid HTML code closing <img> tags. It freezes after the 3rd HTML correction. I downloaded the Dreamweaver 11.0.4 update, and reinstalled Dreamweaver but the problem still persists? The last thing I did on this page was to Insert an EasyRotator image extension on this page. Could this be part of the problem?
What else can I do?
Thanks,

When everything checks out, then use File > SaveAs old file name.

Has anyone heard any thing about an update or patch or
something on the freezing of DreamWeaver CS3. I have read where
several people are having similar problems. I am really looking for
a solution it took me 10 minutes to change two words in code view
because of it freezing up. I even added more memory and still
nothing.Sure you can.

Dreamweaver freezes every morning, console shows it's going through all my fonts?
I'm on a mac, 10.9.2, with Dreamweaver CC (whatever's the newest version). Every morning, after starting Dreamweaver, I get about a minute or two, then it freezes. When I check the console log, I can see that it's going through all my fonts. I could publish the log, but it's the same line over and over, just with different fontnames (and unfortunately I have maaaany fonts, though only a few of them are active):
CoreText performance note: Client called CTFontCreateWithName() using name "Futura Light" and got font with PostScript name "FuturaBT-Light". For best performance, only use PostScript names when calling this API.
I have to admit I don't know what this means, or what to do about this? The other CC apps don't do this, only Dreamweaver (which shouldn't need any fonts to begin with, except for a few standard font-stacks). Anyway, usually I force-quit Dreamweaver, and after that it works fine (as fine as Dreamweaver usually does, at least).
A note on the side – here at the bureau we use Extensis' Universal Type Client for font management.
Any help? Good ideas? Lucky guesses? ;-)
ThanksWe have checked out the issue & looks like DW starts scanning all the Extensis fonts at startup. We are investigating into it.
In the meantime it would be great if you can file a bug here. This will help us prioritize it based on the number of user requests. -
Dreamweaver freeze with developper toolbox
Hello,
I am following the steps in tutorial named "Building an Image Gallery using Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox ─ Part 1: Building the administrative section and displaying images". Posted on ADC at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/addt_image_gallery_pt1.html.
I cannot get past the first wizard: Insert Record Form. Dreaweaver freezes. I am new to development and have no clue. please help. Thanks.
PierreHi Pierre,
this might occur for various possible reasons, so I suggest to first see if your Dreamweaver installation is possibly suffering from the "Daylight Savings Time" bug, which is explained in this Adobe technote: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402776

Dreamweaver Freeze JavaScript (F6) is disable! Why?
I will freeze JavaScript in my htm file in live view Dreamweaver but this command is disable.
@e1a1s,
Those options will be enabled only when you select "Hide Live View Displays".
Since the Element displays in Live View are also JS implementations, disabling or freezing Javascript before hiding them would have yielded undesirable results. Hence, this solution.
Hope this helps,

Dreamweaver Freezing & Crashing Constantly
HI,
OK before I start Dreamweaver 12.1 & latest Mountain Lion. I have two main isue probably related.
I am creating an HTML 5/PHP Administration interface and prior to converting to PHP I am using JQuery Scripts to simulate the interface for my client. The pages uses lets say 30+ jQuery Scripts many by Flot Charts for example and 10+ style sheets however when I try to load any of the mockup pages Dreamweaver takes an age to open in Source view and totally freezes in Design Mode. On opening the very same pages in Zend Studio it take 3 seconds.
I have also noticed that if I am working on a site and throw a page into Dreamweaver from outside the site ie from the desktop it again Crashes.
I have hardly ever had issues with Dreamweaver until now however this is real annoying that sites constantly crash and it cannot cope with pages using 30+ scripts.
Would this be the same if I start pulling in Drupal or Magento sites to work on??
My question is therefore does Dreamweaver use some sort of caching that can be turned off or what else could be the issue here as no upgrades either Apple or Adobe have addressed any of these issues.. As I say Zend can open the pages in seconds yet Dreamweaver a design/code IDE cannotJon,
Yes I have tried commenting out and nothing so far and when I have some time this weekend I'll do this on a scipt by script basis to find the offending item. I'm thinking one of the autoloading/preloading functions may be the cause..
The Apple/Adobe support issue is first hand. Adobe almost certainly will blame this on a M/Lion issue and Apple will no doubt reply with Adobe or we dont support Java anymore. M/Lion has played havock with Quark also. CS6 suite definately has some pretty big issues though on M/Lion Dreamweaver especially and all crash reports get sent on to Apple prety much on a daily basis. I have also worked on Adobe products from beta to realease with a testing company perviously and releasing products with hundreds of unironed bugs is par for the course probably with all software houses I guess. The funniest was a Spanish localsation of Photoshop 5 or 6 released with the save option disabled oops. Quickly fixed that they did!!!
I take it you have not used Edge yet. 1 small animation = 10 jQuery scripts -
Dreamweaver freezes everytime I open a certain file
Hi, I have this problem with a file that's very annoying. I'm working on:
- a Mac OS X 10.7.3
- processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
- Dreamweaver CS6 version 12.0 (mainly, but it also happens on CS3 too)
- it's a 10 kb HTML file linked with:
- CSS stylesheet and several images
- and fontkit from squirrelfont webfont kit and google webfont.
I have tried to :
- delete the MacFileCache and the folder in my personal configuration,
- uninstall and reinstall the program,
- Disable Dreamweaver's Resolve To IP Address by modifying Adobe Dreamweaver CS Prefs file,
But it's still not working. I think it's something to do with my own file because I tried to open other files in dreamweaver and they worked just fine.
These happened not only in Dreamweaver CS6 but also the previous CS3.
The thing is I don't know how to put/display the codes in here...
Please help me, I'm on my deadline so any help would be greatly appreciated!!Hi, sorry for the late reply. The file is actually a homepage of my website, however there is no actual website since I'm only asked to create the homepage.
I can open it with text editor programs, but they only display the output not the actual source code... -
I have had Dreamweaver cs6 lock up for 10-15 seconds every time I go to another program window and back.
Tried to impliment the fix here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/hang-opening-document-dreamweaver-cs5.html
but when I go to user/username/library I cannot see the library folder or locate the CS6 Prefs file anywhere on my Windows 7 computer.
Anyone got any ideas?
thanksSounds like you are accidentally following the Mac instructions.
EDIT: Scroll a little further down the page for the Windows instructions. -
I posted earlier about DW freezing on a simple file of 271kb.
I was told to delete the dat file in the roaming directory which I
did- that was the daylight savings time change thing. Now it is
doing it again with the same file. It is a php file with no
grpahics. Just a php include file. The file loads fine and fast.
But if you click on anything in code or design view it starts the
hourglass and you have to hit ctrl alt del to end task after a few
minutes.Having the same issue here. DAT file deletion make no
difference. The files I'm working with are ASP, and regardless of
site settings or anything else, when the file is opened in split
view, or if you try to view another file, it locks up, sending the
processor core allocated to DW CS3 to 100%. ctl-alt-dlt is the only
way to deal with it.
I have come up with sort of a workaround:
1. Open the file in notepad and cut all asp code above the
doc dec tag.
3. Open and edit html in DW (file opens fine when all asp
code is removed)
4. Save and close file
5. re-open in notepad and paste previously saved asp code,
save
Fortunately, there's only one file doing this, so it's not a
show stopper, but this is the second time I've experienced this
issue... -
Dreamweaver freezes whendownloading a page for editing.
When I try to download a pagein DW for editing from my website, DW will not display the page. It indicates that all the essential files are downloading, but when it get to the place where I would expect to get a display of the page in design view, it just spins. The only thing I can do then is force close the program. Help! The website is www.enonumc.com
Hi Dennis -
I notice a few anomalies in your code which may be relevant.
In several places you have links to targets which are one level above the root folder on your server.
(wherever the link path starts with ../ )
Most hosts will not allow access to folders and files above the server root, so perhaps your FTP transfer is stalling DW in the attempt to access these files
For instance on your home page:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="../enonumc.css" type="text/css" />
<script src="../Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var MenuBar1 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar1", {imgDown:"../LoveGrowsHere/images/SpryMenuBarDownHover.gif", imgRight:"../LoveGrowsHere/images/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
//-->
</script> -
Dreamweaver (CS 6 12.2) freezes while saving for 1 second
After the last Update Dreamweaver freezes for one second (with blue Spinner) while saving files. I cant do something, until the spinner disappears.
Why does saving a textfile take so long in the new version? Is this a bug? If yes: Is it possible to install older versions of Dreamweaver again? I have a CC Subscription. Not sure why that would happen. I don't see the same thing here. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling. IIRC, you should get 13.0 again on a fresh install.
You can also have DWCS6 and DWCC installed at the same time (they just can't be used at the same time) if you are a subscriber. You can follow the instructions here to get it: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/download-previous-versions-creative-applications. html -

When I edit an html page and click save, the page appears to save but then Dreamweaver freezes and the bar across the top says "not responding". Then I have to force-close Dreamweaver and re-start.
Unfortunately, it's still an issue. As a workaround, I have been using the previous version of Dreamweaver which does not freeze.
Has anyone found a solution? I'm assuming Adobe is aware of this issue and will fix it in the next update?Hi,
To get the crash logs on windows you need to add these entries in registry.
Go to run, type regedit and enter. This will open Registry Editor.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting->Right Click->New->Key. New key named "New Key #1" will be created. Rename it to LocalDumps. Add two entries LocalDump.
Right click on LocalDumps->New->Expandable String Value (REZ_EXPAND_SZ). Double click on the entry created and add value name : DumpFolder and value data : %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps.
Right click on LocalDumps->New->DWORD (32 bit) Value(REG_DWORD). Double click on the value created and add value name : DumpType and value data :1
Next time when the application crashes you will find the crash dump at C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\CrashDumps. Dumps will be created only in case of crash and not hang.
You can email me the logs at [email protected]
Thanks!
