Dreamweaver FTP LogIn Info

Where does Dreamweaver CS5 store FTP log in info for defined sites? I erased by hard drive and reinstalled my operating system, and worked with a senior Apple tech to restore my settings and programs from a Time Machine back up. Dreamweaver is there and working fine, but the site definitions are missing the log-in and passwords to connect via ftp. Where is that info stored? Is there a preferences file somewhere?

Jh100 as Mylenium suggested can you please post your question regarding features of Dreamweaver to the Dreamweaver forum?

  • Update wipes out ftp login info!

So I just updated Dreamweaver CS5 with the latest updates from Adobe and it wipes out all the ftp user info for each site.  What is up with that?!
You think they would have fixed this by now.
    Very disappointed.

    Hi bernwa,
Sorry for any frustration this may have caused.
Restarting your computer should restore them. See this document for more information:

  • Dreamweaver "forgets" login info?

I am having this problem, which only started occurring after I installed the 11.0.3 update http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ where Dreamweaver is not retaining the login and password info for my sites. I even unclick the "save" checkbox and re-click it after logging in. Then it works for a while. Then when I try to connect to the site with the Files palette. Not sure what is going on. If anyone has solutions I would appreciate it.
Also, I noticed that Dreamweaver does not indicate the version update in the "About Dreamweaver" dialog, to 11.0.3, but retains 11.0

I'm having this problem too. It started when DW suddenly wiped out ALL My site definitions. And I had to import them from a backup.  Now it is not remembering my login info, but it only seems to be happening on some sites.
I'm on a Mac with Snow Leopard with what I think is the latest build for CS5
    Any help appreciated.

  • Save ftp login info

Is there a setting or patch to make sure that DW does
actually save my remote login info in the site definition box? It
used to save it ok in MX but in 8 every time I open DW I have to
enter uname pword to connect to remote site even though the 'Save'
checkbox is checked? A small but very annoying problem!

A reinstall *should* preserve site definitions, but you can
    always export
the sites first using DW's Site Manager, just to be safe.

  • DW8 does not save the FTP login info

Since I upgraded to DW8 I have to retype all the FTP login
information every time I try to connect to a remote site.
The "save" check box is checked. I have downloaded the latest
updates. My operating system is xp. What can I do to make DW save
    the information?

Updating to 8.0.2 does the job.

  • Saving the site's FTP login info

I figured out that I can save a MUSE site to the Creative Cloud so I can share site maintenance between my two computers. It works great for making sure a site is kept synced between the two computers. One thing that doesn't get synced is the FTP information. Right now I save a small .txt file in the CC folder with the .muse document so the login information is handy when I need to re-type it.
Is there a trick or tip for having the FTP login information saved within the .muse file so I don't have to re-type it whenever I switch computers?

The key phrase there from the Adobe Staff was "FTP credentials are specific to a given machine+site file+Adobe ID". Everything is true except that it happens when I open it on a different machine. That must be it but it sure is inconvenient when moving back and forth between machines.
Thanks, Gaurav. I think you got it.

I haqve about 20 websites i manage, however i have one
website ftp user id and password it just won't save. every time i

me crazy. i did re-install. remove pref file, nothing helps.

However i did go around the problem with renaming the

name), it seems like keeping the settings now. It was weird.
Thanks for getting back to me though, i really appreciated.

  • Dreamweaver 8, Vista 64 - login info keeps getting deleted

I'm using Dreamweaver 8 on Vista 64, but am having a strange
problem - the saved login info (FTP username and password) are
deleted for whatever site definition happens to be selected at the
time I close Dreamweaver. I have to go to Manage Sites and edit the
site definition to add them again. This always seems to happen,
    every time I close Dreamweaver.
Login info saved for site definitions that aren't the active
site at the time Dreamweaver is closed appear unaffected.
    Also, I downloaded the
    updater
for 8.0.2, but when I try to run it a message says that the wizard
was interrupted, and my system was not modified. What gives
    there?

  • FTP Login Gone Everytime I Close DW

    Hi,
Every time I close and re-open Dreamweaver all my FTP login
info is gone. (user and password). This just started yesterday. I
have been using this product Dreamweaver CS3 for almost a year
    without problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

down to Keychain Access in the Utilities folder.
If you select the 'login' section under Keychains you'll see
a list of password entries with the name of 'Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Site'. These are still named like this now even though I now use
CS4. These were all apparently corrupted and I had to delete them
    all.
I then went back to Dreamweaver CS4 and re-entered all my
passwords and logons (a pain I know) for my web sites and upon
quitting and restarting the app it held them. Whatever made them
corrupt in the beginning I don't know but everything's been fine
    since.
Hope this helps for Mac users.
Unfortunately this did not work for me, I'm using Dreamweaver
CS4 on OS X 10.5.6 (mac). I removed the CS3 keychains and then
started up DW CS4, re-inserted the login and password, made sure
"Save" login info was checked. Then after closing DW CS4 and
re-opening it the login and password were blank. This happens both
    at work and at home.
This little annoying bug (that has yet to be fixed by adobe)
    makes CS4 almost unusable.

  • Dreamweaver 8 FTP login details

For some reason Dreamweaver 8 no longer retails the FTP login

    8.02 would do it.

  • How to login and download content using the Dreamweaver FTP

    Hi ya,
I'm fairly new to Dreamweaver, and currently working my way through tutorials.
I have be given details for my company website and told to login via the Dreamweaver FTP and download all the files for Dreamweaver from there.
The details I have been given are:
    IP Address
    User Name
    Password
I have been looking in Dreamweaver as to where to type in this info. (Guessing its somewhere in the 'Manage Sites' tab), but can't seem to find the correct place to login.
All the tutorials I find seem to be about how to upload through the FTP not download.
How do I go about using the FTP details given to download the Dreamweaver content to manage my website?
