Dreamweaver FTP?

Hello,
I am new to your Creative Cloud, so I'm just beginning to discover some of the ways things work with it.
My first question is about FTP in Dreamweaver: it seems to have a cumbersome "one or all" synch model. I
rarely ever wish to update ALL the files (or children) on a site. Usually just two or three select files
need to be transferred from the local production directory to the web server.
Does CC have an FTP utility something like WS_FTP, where individual files can be selected from a local
directory display and uploaded to the specified directory on the remote server?
Secondly, I have local services installed for PHP and MySQL: I'd love to integrate these with
Dreamweaver, but your instruction set is confusing at best. Can you give me a link to a clear,
staightforward howto?
It sounds like it can be done... if it can it is really a remarkable feature of CC.

Just for clarification, this is essentially a user to user forum. Actual Adobe reps do exist here, but are not on often. Most of the folks here are just software users like yourself.
Use the Synchronize command, rather than Put. Once the site has been Synchronized, the next time you make an edit and hit the Synchronize command, only the files that have been changed since the last sync will be uploaded.
The info you are looking for on running php and mysql locally can be found by searching for "setting up a testing server in Dreamweaver" there are tons of sites that have the instructions on how to do it. It's been part of DW for a long time.

  • How to login and download content using the Dreamweaver FTP

    Hi ya,
I'm fairly new to Dreamweaver, and currently working my way through tutorials.
I have be given details for my company website and told to login via the Dreamweaver FTP and download all the files for Dreamweaver from there.
The details I have been given are:
    IP Address
    User Name
    Password
I have been looking in Dreamweaver as to where to type in this info. (Guessing its somewhere in the 'Manage Sites' tab), but can't seem to find the correct place to login.
All the tutorials I find seem to be about how to upload through the FTP not download.
How do I go about using the FTP details given to download the Dreamweaver content to manage my website?
    Thanks

  • I'm suddenly having problems uploading my site with Dreamweaver FTP?

I've been using CS6 for a couple of years and suddenly I'm having trouble uploading my site using Dreamweaver FTP?

Maybe your host did something on the remote server side.  Have you contacted them?
Do you have enough available server space?
Can you upload files with a 3rd party FTP client like Filezilla?

  • Dreamweaver FTP not synchronizing

    Hi
I have found recently that my dreamweaver Ftp does not seem
to be synchronising properly. At least thats what I think it is.
    For instance
sometimes when I upload a page to make changes to a page
already on the remote server, the changes do not show. However If I
delete the page on the server and then upload the page with changes
it shows the changes. This happens now and again. does anyone know
why this maybe and how I couls remedy it?
    thanks

    Hi,
in addition to "bemdesign": My various opinions expressed to this much discussed subject, show that I prefer Filezilla. For each task in whatever area we search for the experts, we do not charge a "jack of all trades".
So I prefer to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server, with a program which works "outside" of the DW.
Therefore I am using filezilla, it simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:
    http://filezilla-project.org/ and
    http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Tutorial#Using_the_site_manager
Of course, you also need all the access data to reach your server.
    Hans-G.
    P.S.
Here I'll quote a hint from Nancy O. for DW applications:
Try toggling Passive and/or Secure FTP on/off.
Your web host might have changed upload requirements to improve security.
Another thing to check is your Anti-virus and Firewall settings. If they are too restrictive, DW may not have permission to connect to the remote server.

  • CS3 Dreamweaver FTP errors

    connection: CS3 Dreamweaver>MacPro(10.4.10)>Airport
    Extreme>SBCmodem>Yahoo Web hosting
Since upgrading to intel mac w/ CS3, I am constantly getting
FTP errors. All client accounts are set to passive. Usually it
takes 2 or 3 attempts to connect to server. On one client account
that is set up for Contribute, I get error messages at the end of
an 11.9MB podcast upload saying the file was skipped–so I end
up using fetch to upload the file.
Most of the accounts are legacy and never had a problem
    ftp'ing to server w/ G4 rig.

Here is the message I get when my upload completes. The
status bar goes to 100% so it appears that the upload is complete,
    but not to be.
    Started: 11/5/07 8:22 AM
    Operation timed out. Cancelling...
    podcasts:broadcast162.mp3 - error occurred
    Connected to ...
    podcasts:broadcast162.mp3 - skipped
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not
    completed.
    Files skipped: 1
    Files with errors: 1
    podcasts:broadcast162.mp3
    Finished: 11/5/07 8:30 AM
If I then look at the remote directory, I see the following
file: "broadcast162.mp3.new" and the file size is correct, 11.9MB.
So then I resort to using Fetch to upload. Adobe, please fix
    Dreamweaver FTP!

  • Adobe Dreamweaver FTP connection doesn't work with german "Umlaut" like "ö" in the severadress

    Hi
Today I tried to establish a FTP connection to the serveradress "ftp.möbelverwandlung.com", but I get the error message that the program couldn't connect to the host. As Dreamweaver works perfectly with other serveradresses and I managed to establish a connection to "ftp.möbelverwandlung.com" with other programs, I think that the problem is the german "Umlaut" "ö". Did anyone recognize the same problem and does someone know a solution?
Thank you very much for your help

Here is the English translation of your previous post -
    Hello Maximilian,
I got a even looked at my provider. Usually there must pay the original domain for the agreed period and agree a new. However, they show a accommodating for so short "duration" of a few hours like you. Try to contact your ISP phone support.

  • Dreamweaver FTP still doesn't work

So I've been trying to get FTP to work in (Mac) Dreamweaver
-- and I've tried every version since MX 2004. But they all fail.
This problem has been posted in this forum (and many others) in the
past. Whenever you try to connect/test an FTP server, you
    immediately get this exact error:
"An FTP error occurred -- cannot make connection to host."
This error happens instantly. There is nothing to see in the
FTP log. It is not related to any FTP timeouts, firewall settings,
etc. I have stayed at Dreamweaver MX 2004 because it's FTP works
(and continues to work). Every version of Dreamweaver I've tried
since then, CS, CS 2, CS 3, etc. all give this same error. I've
tried deleting ssh_hosts. I've deleted keychains. I've tried
reinstalling. I've deleted preferences. Rebuild site caches. I've
tried different servers, hosts, etc. FTP (with and without all the
Passive, etc. options, SFTP, etc. I've tested FTP/SFTP in other
programs, in the Terminal etc. I've turned off Firewalls, removed
routers, etc. What am I missing?
Why is Dreamweaver MX 2004 the last version able to perform
    FTP operations on our Mac?

Thanks. For what it's worth, I cannot connect to that gov
    site in CS4
either. I'm checking to see if there's any info available for
    this
    problem....

  • Can I set the dreamweaver ftp-application to show megabytes instead of bytes?

    Hi!
At the moment the ftp-uploader in Dreamweaver is showing bytes when I put or get files from my site. This can be a bit confusing especially with larger files, as the numbers will easily get huge. Is there a way to view the upload/download progress status in megabytes instead of bytes?
    Thanks!

Someone might prove me wrong, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no.
You might want to submit this as a feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.
Submitting feature requests can sometimes work wonders. I suggested the same to someone in the Dreamweaver online help pages yesterday. He submitted the request, and almost by return got a reply from a Dreamweaver engineer who said, it's not an existing feature, but here's how you can change one of the DW configuration files to get it to work the way you want. By the way, the engineer who came up with the goods was Randy Edmunds, who drops by here from time to time sorting out people's problems.

  • Seeing Hidden Files in Dreamweaver FTP (specifically .htacess)

I need to get into my .htaccess file so I can make some changes.  Normally I would go through filezilla to do this, but for various reasons I cannot with this client.  As a result I need to use Dreamweaver's FTP.  You used to be able to do this by, going into the "Classic" workspace layout, clicking on view, and then selecting "show hidden files"  Unfortunately it looks like this option / workaround has been disabled in the most recent version of Dreamweaver cc.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    @ flakes_obran,
Click the top right of the Files panel. From the panel flyout menu, go to View, and select Show Hidden Files.

  • Dreamweaver FTP problems and Yosemite [subject edited by moderator]

Dreamweaver (newly) installed won't recognize my server (ftp.jakkoke.com). Have checked firewall (no problem), other ftp programs which work just fine, old version of Dreamweaver - works but not with Mac os 10.10 Yosemite. Set up irs.guv - new Dreamweaver communicates with this and other FTP sites just fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled twice. What am I to do?

    Hi jekoke,
Please follow the steps mentioned below:
    Quit Dreamweaver if it's running.
Go to Spotlight (magnifying glass icon on the far right hand side of the menu bar) and type "Keychain". Look for the "Keychain Access" application and click to launch it.
In Keychain Access, you should see a list of Keychain items.  Look in the "Name" column for an item named with the Site Name of your affected site. It will look something like this: "SiteName-SiteServer 0". It will also say "application password" in the "Kind" column.
Click the item to select it. You should see some properties of the Keychain item appear at the top of the Keychain Access window. As a double check, ensure that the value shown for "Account" is the FTP username.  If it's not, then you may have the wrong item.
Once you're happy you have the correct item, and it's selected, hit the Delete key to remove it. Leave the application open for now.
Start Dreamweaver, go to the "Manage Sites" dialog box (Site > Manage Sites...), and edit the affected site. Click on the Servers section and double click the server in the list to edit it.
Enter the FTP username and password, then click Save to close the edit server box, and click Save again to close the edit site box.
You should now see that a new Keychain item has been created in Keychain Access (it should have the same name).
You can quit Keychain Access and Dreamweaver now, then restart Dreamweaver and check if it works now without having to re-enter the FTP details.
Please let us know if you still face any issues.

  • Dreamweaver ftp won't connect to host for one one site

    HI,
have spent over 3 hours on this, and double checked
everything, even with ISP to make sure my host address is correct.
I can connect to the host address via other programs and ftp
I have the same settings in dreamweaver, but it won't
    connect.
I can connect to other sites with this same dreamweaver, and
can create NEW connections too, but not to this one site that I can
connect to with everything else, but dreamweaver.
    The is dreamweaver MX,
    Can anyone help?

Adobe provides a test FTP server for these purposes. You can read about it here -
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-ftp-issues-dreamweaver-cs5.html#main_Ve rify_FTP_access
Try setting up a connection to that server and see if you can connect.

  • Dreamweaver FTP Issues

I've had quite a bit of trouble with my Dreamweaver the last few days. It has issues connecting to my remote server, which is hosted by InMotion hosting. It keeps timing out constantly, but then every once in a while it will work just fine. I don't understand it. I tried using Filezilla and it works just fine, connects perfect. So I contacted my hosting company to see if they might have any idea and they just said everything was good on their end and that I should contact Adobe. They did however say that, after looking at the FTP error log, my dreamweaver was trying to contact unknown directories? He specifically stated that it was trying to upload to a folder called '_mm' in my public_html folder. I cannot find much information on this and I've tried playing with some settings, including passive FTP. I'm using Dreameaver CS5 Version 11.0 Build 4909.

There is an article about the "mm" folder - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/extend/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d117f53d9310-7ff a.html .  So is the problem that DW cannot create the folder on the remote end?  Or cannot write to the folder?  Uploading to any folder in your public_html folder should not be an issue unless there is a write/permissions issue on the server.

  • How to add favourites to Dreamweaver FTP?

    Hi,
Most FTP clients have a favourites function so you can easily
and quickly jump around different folders within an FTP site.
I find this really frustrating that dreamweaver doesn't have
    this feature built in.
Is there already an extension out there that will perform
    this simple function?
    Many thanks in advance

I've not seen such an extension. But you should search the

  • Dreamweaver FTP questions

    Hello Everyone,
I've been using Dreamweaver since version 3 (back in the Macromedia days) but I'm by no means a Dreamweaver Guru. I recently set up my first VPS and noticed a problem with the FTP section of DW. When I try to transfer a file using the "get" or "put" buttons DW tries to move the "entire" site, not just the selected files. BUT if I try to open a file from the "remote" server, DW only moves the individual file. Is there a setting I'm missing in DW or does anyone out there know why this is happening?
    I'm using DW CS5 on a Windows 7 computer.
Thanks for all of your help,
    Todd

Do you have it set to enable file check in/check out? This would be under the Advanced tab in Remote Info. Also do you have the "Automatically upload files to server on save" checked?
I do not get the behavior you describe when I just have "Maintain synchronization information" checked and nothing else checked in that section.

  • Dreamweaver FTP connection settings (CS5)

I am wondering if anyone can help me with my issue I am having. I am running a big website and have been using Dreamweaver CS4 in the past and that worked like a charm so I decided to upgrade to CS5 and some things got weird. When entering in my servers I enter in all of my settings that I had on my past version using ftp then my domain and port 21. I enter in the correct username and password but when it tries to connect it says it fails.
    Any suggestions??
Am I supposed to use sftp now??
    -Tim

Without knowing your FTP login credentials (Don't give them out here of course) it's hard to say. It's more likely a user error.
The best thing to do is login to your hosting provider's control panel and look for your FTP login and campare the info.
    The obvious woud be
User error - missing something when typing in crendtials ex: server, path or no path to dir example htdocs/html/
    password/user login
    Server down try again
    Internet connection down try again

Migrated from Tiger on older laptop to my new MacBook Pro. Everything went well except dreamweaver needed me to reregister the software which I did with my product key.
I can not get my Dreamweaver MX to ftp. When I go back to my old mac, dreamweaver works fine.
Also the clock will not keep the right time.

Dreamweaver MX is NOT Leopard compatible. Adobe released patches for CS3 when Leopard came out, and CS4 is also fully compatible.
