Dreamweaver hang on closing.

Dreamweaver CS6 hanging on closing. Sometimes it's quick but more often than not it takes forever. Occasionally I'll get a "program not responding" notice from win8 (64 bit). Other times it will just eventually close.

I am using Windows 8 (now upgraded to Windows 8.1 free of charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and I have no such problems.  however, you could try renaming one of your files to see if it improves.  The file is located at this link:
<C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\en_US\Configuration>
Replace USERNAME with your true username.  The file to rename is this:
WinFileCache-E4854B7D.dat   =====>>  WinFileCache-E4854B7D.old
E4854B7D must be different on your system because it is generated randomly by DW.
Just change the dat to old and then restart DW and it should be OK.  Make sure DW is not running when you are changing the file name.

  • Mail accessing the internet all the time and hangs when closing or deleting

Why is it every time I look at my DSL modem when Mail is open there is activity and when I close Mail it stops? It's only set to get the mail every 5 min but it's constantly accessing the internet. The other problem is that it seems to hang when closing and sometimes it takes several mins before it will delete an email that I wanted it to delete. Any ideas? I'm running 10.4.4 with a FRESH install, not an upgrade. I only have .Mac mail accounts so there is no other active accounts that Mail has to access to get mail.
This has only been going on since I upgraded to 10.4+ so I tried to reload the 10.4 several times without any change.
    Thanks, Jason

Okay I used the Activity Monitor to check out mail while it was using the DSL connection. It was using 1.20% CPU and receiving 7 packets/sec. It's memory usage was slowly but steadily climbing until I shut it down. Then all the network activity stopped. As I said before this seems to start after mail has been open but not used for about 20-30 min and doesn't stop until I close mail.
Any ideas. Initially I was worried that there was an exploit in the new mail and someone was using it to access my mac. Is this something worth worrying about or is this a Mail quirk that will be patched later? Anyone else having this issue. I'm not even sure it's a problem but I don't see why Mail would be constantly downloading packets????

  • Dreamweaver hangs when using double slash file includes?

When I use Dreamweaver CS6 for Web Development I experience problems when using code with double slashes, like the following:
    <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
Everytime I try and edit the page Dreamweaver will hang maybe 30 to 60 seconds, I believe its trying to locate the include locally which will always fail.
I have turned dynamic discovery off but it still happens, is there a fix for this issue?

My question is why does Dreamweaver hang and why can we not prevent that from happening?
To be completely honest, it hangs because DW isn't programmed to handle it the way we'd all like. As far as keeping it from happening, you "could" develop with the http there. I would suggest using a php include to add the link into your <head> section as the http version during development. That way, when you go live with it, you only need to change it once for the entire site. It's not the best solution, but it should do the trick and get DW to behave, until Adobe fixes the problem.

  • Dreamweaver hangs up after opening files

    Hi,
I have only had this problem since I started using Dreamweaver CS5.5. Before this I was using an earlier Macromedia version (on an older Windows 2000 PC) and never had any problems.
It usually happens shortly after I open a file for editing - most often an ASP web page. It doesn't happen immediately after opening the file, but unpredictably, when maneuvering through the file, Dreamweaver will hang up. I then have to wait 30 to 60 seconds or more for it to come back to life. This has been happening more and more, and is beginning to make it very difficult to work with the program. It is more likely to happen with a larger file (over 1000 lines of source code), but it often happens with much shorter files - under 200 lines of code.
My PC is not strapped for resources. It is running XP Professional, runs at 2.99GHz and has 3.25GB of RAM. There is over 20GB of free hard drive space available.
This did not happen immediately after installation about 6 months ago. It started happening a month ago and seems to be getting worse. If it keeps up I will have to find another program to edit my code and limit my use of Dreamweaver to managing my testing and remote servers.
Dreamweaver is the only program I use that is causing problems.
    Can anybody offer any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance...

If it used to run OK, I'd quess something has been corrupted.
How about disabling any installed extensions, and re-enabling
them one-at-a-time until you find the problem

  • Dreamweaver hangs when opening

Running DW MX 2004, with updater 7.0.1 applied, on a Sony PC
with Win XP, DW hangs when opening. I have waited as long as 10
minutes to see it it every responds, and it doesn't.
I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and terminate the application. When
    re-opening, it opens normally.
Not connected to a network, site files on local C drive.
It seems to have started happening after applying the 7.0.1
    updater.
Anyone have any solutions to this?

    Hi JillTW,
DW 7 had some serious time lags. Search the
    Macromedia.Dreamweaver groups on
Google's groups for slow DW and look for postings over a year
    old. The fixes
they discuss may help solve your lockup problem.
If you are working on a large site, 10 minutes might not be
    enough time for
DW 7 to resolve cache issues. Look at your Task Manager to
    see if it is
working (high cpu usage on Dreamweaver.exe) or not
    responding. Even if it is
not responding a high CPU usuage may mean it is in progress
    and just
    ignoring the keyboard/mouse.
Also, you might want to try to clear the site cache (or just
    check its
size - a little one should not take long to process even if
    corupt) before
starting DW. Adobe tells how to remove the cache here:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=5989f7f4
Look for the cache in: C:\Documents and
    Settings\<user>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\SiteCache
    The file is named: {yoursitenamehere}.dws
I suggest moving it to another folder for safe keeping until
    you know if
    this is the problem.
Upgrading to DW8 is a major improvement in speed.
    Best of luck,

  • Hanging when closing applications.

For the past couple days I cannot close an app it seems without it hanging. It never really quits completely, rather is still running and I have to force quit the app. Any ideas why? It's getting to be very annoying since my Mac won't shutdown unless all apps are closed, so it hangs while shutting down. Thanks

    caravot:
    Try this:
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously later.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command + Option + P + R keys immediately after the startup chime.
    • Hold keys down until you hear the startup chime for the third time.
    • Release the keys and immediately hold down Shift key to start up in Safe Mode.
    • Log in and empty Trash.
    • Restart normally and log in.
Please post back with an update on whether this helped.
    Cheers

  • Adobe Premier and Dreamweaver Hanging Up

I'm running an 8 core i7 process with a RAID Zero and to other solid state drives with 24 gigs ram and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 on windows 7 64bit and for some reason I'm experience more and more hang ups, locking up when using Premier and Dreamweaver. There are some serious performance issues with Adobe CC. I'm running very powerful machines and I do not expect these constant crashes and hang ups. Working with fluid grid layouts in Dreamweaver is a nightmare. I take about a minute to three minutes for a web page to wake up after opening it in Dreamweaver to work on it. This totally destroys the possibility of a smooth workflow. Same thing in Premier, I'll be editing a project and suddenly the software goes white and then premier says it's low on resource or something and sometimes it will not totally crash and other times it will totally crash. It's hard to take time out to explain this to you people, as your customer for almost two decades I'M SICK OF BEING YOUR BETA TESTER AND HAVING TO PAY FOR YOUR PRODUCTS

  • Dreamweaver hangs when other CS programs are running,

If I run Dreamweaver (4 or 5.5) on its own (with no other CS programs running) it works fine; but the minute I run another CS program (InDesign for example) Dreamweaver eventually hangs and is shown as not responding in Activity Monitor.

I'm running 10.7.4, but I gave up trying to solve the issue so I uninstalled ALL my creative suite applications and re-installed. Problem solved.

  • Dreamweaver CC not Closing

I can't perform updates of any cloud Apps .  I get a dialog box that tells me Dreamweaver needs to be closed.  I do not have Dreamweaver CC open on my desktop.

    Hi
On widows press ctrl/alt/delete and select the 'Task Manager'. Then check the programs and processes that are running.
Mac has a similar background/pre-load process, but as I no longer use a Mac, you may have to wait until someone else can tell you where and how. Or try -

  • Dreamweaver hangs when opening document

    I am using Dreamweaver CS5, 11.0 Build 4964 on a MAC.
I have a couple of pages that I was editing and then for no reason Dreamweaver decided to hang in the middle of editing. And now Dreamweaver will not open the document anymore. I just get the spinning beachball and have to force quit Dreamweaver.  Other co-workers can open the pages without any problems. I've checked the coding and don't see anything that would cause Dreamweaver to freak out.
I've tried new preference files and adding resolveremoteurltoipaddress=FALSE to the Remote Downloads section of the prefs. Nothing works.  Anyone have any other suggestions as to why Dreamweaver just suddenly stops opening certain files?

I'm trying to remember. I believe there was something in the HTML that Dreamweaver just didn't like. I don't think I ever figured out exactly what. I ended up working with the pages that crashed Dreamweaver in notepad.  It only ever happend to me on a page here or there not everything.
I believe once I edited the page in notepad and got past the part that was freaking Dreamweaver out I could then work with the page without any issues.
    Not much help there...

  • Dreamweaver hanging on start "Initializing server behaviours"

Hanging for about 10 secs on "Initializing server behaviours.." on start. W7 DW CS6 , cleared prefs, sites.Any help appreciated.

I have been having this issue on and off for 6+ months.  Initially it was with Dreamweaver CS3.  I recently upgraded to CS6.  I now have the issue again.  I usually can fix it by uninstalling then installing again (not a direct reinstall or repair)
What happens is dreamweaver works fine for 1-2 weeks.  Then randomly when I try to open it, it freezes wih the little green Dreamweaver box that opens when dreamweaver loads.  The progress bar is about 20-25% across and it says "Initializing server behaviors..."
HELP!  I am completely sick of reinstalling this software and wasting 30-60 minutes bi-weekly.

  • Jinitiator hanging upon closing IE windows

    -- Using IE 6sp1
    -- JInitiator 1.3.1.18
End users will login to Oracle instance at On Demand, then open multiple other IE windows for forms, etc. All of these windows are in the same iexplore.exe process. Then -- doesn't matter how long the user has had the windows open -- a user can close the main form window then quickly close another window that was in that same iexplore.exe process, and the iexplore.exe process will freeze. It takes 5 - 10 minutes for IE to unfreeze -- of course, no one wants to wait that long, so End Task'ing that iexplore.exe process is usually the course of action. IE sessions to the instances can be started up again without issue -- unless, of course, the person performs the same quick-closes. If the user waits a second or two between closing windows, then the IE windows / process will close just fine.
    Any ideas? Thanks. Rick

    Rick,
how can you prove that JInitiator hangs if all you describe is IE related ? JInitiator is a plugin within IE and as long as the IE process is active, JInitiator stays active. Open an IE window from an existing IE window shares the browser process.
If you still think it is JInitiator causing the problem, you can run Forms with teh Java Plugin 1.4

  • Overheating/hanging while closed?

As with many users, I tend close my new MacBook when I'm not using it and expect it to go to sleep. Often, I'll come back (sometimes after many hours) to find it awake and overheating, fan blasting. When I open it, the system hangs...generally one app at a time as I try to use them. I have to force a shut down. The last time this happened I had Temperature Monitor running and it was registering 75C.
It seems to happen more with USB devices plugged in (and certainly moving my Bluetooth mouse will wake it up). But I'd rather not have to unplug all my peripherals just to put my machine to sleep. And more importantly, periodic waking and sleeping doesn't seem like a sufficient explanation for the overheating and fan.
Clearly this is inconvenient and bad for my disk and overall stability; in addition I worry that it may damage the hardware over time.
Any idea what the problem might be?

OK, it's not a USB thing. I closed it last night with nothing connected, and woke up this morning to find once again a hot, non-sleeping MacBook with its fan running. Opening it revealed a black (not off, but black) screen and no apparent way to get it to respond, so once again I had to force a reboot. This is becoming a serious issue.
A trip to system.log revealed 4-5 cycles of sleeping and waking in the space of a few minutes, followed by nothing for the remainder of the night.
I've uninstalled the drivers and extensions for CoreDuoTemp, Temperature Monitor, and the startup items for Parallels to see if that will help. After that I guess I'll try a full OS reinstall in the hopes that it's a software issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
