Dreamweaver - I want to pull my hair out...

I'm about ready to scream. I really wish dreamweaver was more
user friendly, but I get the distinct impression you need to attend
a year long college course to begin to understand how it works.
Took me hours to get the frames straightened out, but there
are two annoying problems - one is that annoying gap between the
top and bottom frames, and the other is some of the bottom frames
aren't aligned with the top frames, eventhough both are center
aligned, both 800 pixels wide.

No matter what the advertisements have led you to believe, DW
will punish
you badly if you do not take the time to learn about HTML and
CSS so that
you can be comfortable working with code.
The gap between frames would be fixed by adding
frameborder="0"
to your frame tag, e.g.,
<frame src="top_frame.html" name="topFrame"
scrolling="No"
noresize="noresize" id="topFrame" title="topFrame"
frameborder="0" />
<frame src="home_frame.html" name="mainFrame"
bordercolor="#FFFFFF"
id="mainFrame" title="mainFrame" frameborder="0" />
The alignment issue comes to you complements of the browser
when it needs to
drop a vertical scrollbar in one of the frames, of couse
throwing the
alignment off. The only fix would be to force both frames to
always have a
vertical scrollbar, which you can by styling each page in
those frames with
this CSS rule -
html, body { min-height:100%;margin-bottom:1px; }
You REALLY need to not use frames, though. It's rarely the
optimal choice
for your layout and will, as a new user, drive you aroud the
bend, as it
already seems to be doing. You just have no idea....
