Dreamweaver & mac 10.7.3

I have just upgraded to a new macbookpro with 10.7.3 and used the migration assistant to move my files to the new mac. Now i cannot connect to the remote server using dreamweaver cs5.5. the ftp 'test' conection says its ok but when i try & select a page it gives error message - an ftp error occured - cannot get file. access denied. the file may not exist or there could be a permission problem'. i have tried changing the connection options, still no joy. any advice most appreciated.

Hi team
I finally managed to sort the problem and now have access back to my sites. It seems a adobe permission issue that I couldnt get sorted. I will try & explain the solution as best I can. Basically I had to dump the old sites & download a new copy to my computer. Before I did that I made a copy of my local folders in case of emergency
1. In dreamweaver - manage sites - click on your site - duplicate - edit - advanced settings - local info.
2. In 'Local Info' change the 'Local root folder' and 'Default images folder' to your new folder name
3. Click 'ok'. You may get a warning message about the images folder not being inside the site, but ignore that.
4. Click 'Done'.
5. Then you will see the lcoal site with no folders. Expand the view to see both the local & remote files, or change the drop down to see only the remote filles.
6. Then pick a file to bring down from the remote folder, check it out, amend - save - check back in.
7. If that works then select the root folder ie. Remote Site '/' and download all the files.
8. Do a restart and check access using your new copy of the files & images.
9. You may or may not want to rename your new local site folder. If you do rename it make sure you go back to '2' above & change the local root & default images' folders.
10. You will likely have to do this process for each site you want to access. I did it for both mine and since then have had no access issues. The only catch is you cannot use the 'recent history' list to access a file as it will automatically choose the file from the old site. You need to select the file you want directly from the local site folder.
Hope this helps. If anything isn't clear please reply.

  • FTP Error in Dreamweaver (mac)

    I have a site that I can connect to on my Dreamweaver/Windows, but not on Dreamweaver/Mac.
    I have the settings identical as far as I can tell and it immediately gives me an error that says:
    An FTP error occured - cannot make conection to host.
    No response from server. This may be due to one or more of the following reasons:
    -Proxy... etc...
    -Use Passive... etc...
    -IPV6.... etc...
    -Firewall etc...
    -Port 21 etc...
    None of these apply except for Passive and I have set it both ways with no joy.
    I can use FTP from Firefox on my Mac with the same settings and it works fine.
    Kirk

    Fixed.
    I am using Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Snow Leopard and am having the same FTP problems.
    After  trying to uninstall and reintall Dreamweaver CS5.5 with no luck I was  able to solve my issue by leaving the "Root Directory" field of the FTP  server configuration BLANK.
    My hosting provider (justhost)  allows you to specify the FTP path when you create a FTP accounts. That  is where I specify the "root dir" path and not in DW ftp server config.

  • Dreamweaver Mac CS4 will not open a certain site

    I am using Dreamweaver CS4 for the Mac.  I am running several sites.  Dreamweaver will open up all the pages on all the sites, except one.  When I open that site, the files all show up on the local files listing.  But when I click on any of them, all I get is the spinning beach ball.
    I just repaired permissions and this did not help.

    Well this is interesting.  I duplicated the folder and then tried creating another site in Dreamweaver and accessed the duplicate - no luck, same issues.
    So I went into Time Machine and tried restoring the entire site.  Time Machine did not allow me to restore the entire site.  It seems that some subfolders indicate that I do not have permission.  However, if I restore the contents within that subfolder, it will allow me to do so. Considering I have multiple subfolders, this will be tedious.
    So I restored from 3 days earlier my Index which is one I could not open before.  I re-opened Dreamweaver and opened the Index and it opened and displayed.  However, after the Index page displayed, Dreamweaver froze and presented me once again with the dreaded spinning beach ball and is now frozen.
    So it looked like I made progress, but I did not.

  • Dreamweaver Mac Site Backup

    Hi,
    Basically, I need to completely manually reinstall my Intel
    MacBook Pro from scratch. My problem is this: I NEED to find the
    Dreamweaver MX 2004 file(s) that store info. about defined sites
    (FTP usernames and passwords). I have several sites that I
    maintain. I have also stupidly misplaced documentation that has the
    passwords for a couple of the servers. Migration Assistant copied
    over the info. successfully from my old mac. and I've tried copying
    over some files I thought it could be (and testing it on a desktop
    mac) but no avail.
    So basically I'm asking this:
    Does anyone know where the third party file(s) could be
    hidden? I'm guessing it's in the User folder somewhere, because
    even logged in on a different user (but on the same machine) and
    the defined sites aren't there...
    Many thanks,
    Jay Ashton

  • How to use spry on DreamWeaver Mac?

    ive been searching the web on how to use spry on the mac but i am unable to use it for some reason. HELP?!

    Hello,
    I quote from different contributions of the forum:
    "Spry has been deprecated and is no longer officially supported by Adobe", “Adobe abandoned Spry late last year after CS6 came out. Future products will probably not contain any Spry so learning to use jQuery is a valuable skill to have for the future.” “The news was released in August last year:

    and: "All Spry framework related examples available here: http://adobe.github.com/Spry/samples/
    You may want to take a look at it. I'd recommend you switch to a jQuery library for your further requirements.

  • Dreamweaver Mac VS Windows

    I'm in the process of starting a non-profit organization & I wanted to create a website for it - which product would you highly recommend?
    Also, I currently have a Windows 7 laptop & I wanted to purchase a Mac desktop, but I do not have enough money at the moment. Is it possible to create the website on my Windows 7 .. then later transfer all the files onto the Mac? Would I have to purchase the new software all over again for the Mac?
    I wasn't sure if purchasing the software on Windows would be a waste of money or not.
    Thank you.

    The files that make up your website can be moved back and forth between DW PC and DW MAC, but the actual Dreamweaver program is platform specific. If you buy the Windows version, it won't run on a MAC Operating system.
    The license for the software does give you the ability to install on two computers, but they must both be PC or both be MAC.
    Dreamweaver is the Adobe software for building websites, but you will probably also need Fireworks and/or Photoshop and possibly Illustrator to create the images and edit the photos for your site. In order to build a website, you need to know HTML. You can probably stumble along and build your site, but it probably will look very amateur. To build a polished looking site, you need lots of experience.
    An alternative way to get a website, which would be less expensive and easier, would be to use a program like WordPress. It is free software for creating blogs, but there are many complete websites built with it as well, and there are lots of free themes available (the basic appearance). This would also eliminate the PC/MAC issue.

  • Dreamweaver/.mac

    I made a website in dreamweaver and how would i host it with .mac? i put the dreamweaver file in idisk>web>sites>iweb> in a folder

    I made a website in dreamweaver and how would i host
    it with .mac? i put the dreamweaver file in
    idisk>web>sites>iweb> in a folder
    The way you have done it, you should be able to access your dreamweaver site using this URL...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/dreamweaverfolder/startfile.html
    You need to be careful putting your files in this location that is typically reserved for iWeb. If you do a publish all in iWeb for your regular website, your dreamweaver files may get erased.
    Another (safer) option is to put your dreamweaver sitefolder in the iDisk/Sites/ folder. That's one of the folders at the root level of your iDisk called "Sites". Drop your sitefolder in there and the URL becomes (from the Homepages system)...
    http://homepage.mac.com/yourname/dreamweaverfolder/startfile.html
    So there is a little bit of a difference in there. I think the Homepages webspace in the iDisk/Sites/ folder is a little bit safer for now. You can still use the URL to link pages there from iWeb or wherever all the same.
    Good luck!

  • Select end (Shift+End) in Dreamweaver (MAC) not working anymore

    Hi all,
    all of a sudden it seems that my DreamWeaver shortcut Shift+End is not working anymore to select text till the end of the line. Shift+Home is still working. I'm pretty sure I've been using it till the day before yesterday. I noticed the shortcut not working on my macbook yesterday, but since that was a clean install I thought that might have been the issue. But today I noticed the same on my working station which has been installed for a couple of days now.
    Is anyone else facing this problem? I tried re-adding the shortcut, but that doesn't work at all..
    Joshua

    Seemed to have fixed itself.. all of a sudden it is working again..

  • Dreamweaver+mac+ie 7 problems

    i'm a newbie. i constantly rechecked my site in main browsers
    on mac as i built it. I just uploaded and found a pc to see it in
    ie7. it is terrible. pale.washed out. blue color cast. haven't a
    clue how to fix it... can any one help direct me. how does a mac
    person check browser support for ie without a pc?
    http://www.darleneshiels.ca

    Is it just the color that's the problem? If so this is one of
    the browser issues that we all deal with daily. Mac and Windows
    machines use different gamma for their displays, hence the radical
    color shift you see (although usually Windows color looks darker).
    If you use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to design your
    layouts, you can turn on proofing to see an approximation of the
    color shift (View>Proof Setup). But that won't change the fact
    that the shift will always happen--you will just know about it in
    advance. Web design is all about giving up control and finding a
    happy medium.
    Webdesign color rule #1: Always warn your clients in advance
    that you will not be able to exactly match the PMS color of their
    logo for the website.

  • Dreamweaver/Mac (creative cloud)

  • Dreamweaver for Mac or Windows?

    Can I get some advice? I'm trying to decide whether to get
    Adobe Creative Suite 3 for Mac, or for Windows. What are the
    pros/cons of Dreamweaver, Mac version, versus Dreamweaver, Windows
    version? Has anyone used both? If so, which one do you prefer? And
    why?
    I tried asking Adobe's sales people about this but they had
    no clue. Apparently Adobe doesn't have any documentation or do
    benchmarks to compare the two versions.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Well, what is your "comfort zone" of your hands-on experience
    with either one of those mentioned system architecture.
    I use Macs for years and I find that very useful and
    reliable. However I am being so overly baised aganist Window system
    architecture. You'll have to deal with it yourself and you decide,
    because I don't know you.
    You have to weigh on several options... and your short-term
    and long-term, and cost-wise to operate these system architecture
    and types of physical equipment such as Mac or PC platform.
    The thing about Mac, as you already know, the cost is very
    expensive. But there is a huge trade-off... very very low
    maintenance cost on side of Macs. Easy to add different kind of
    devices, say printers, digital cameras, external backup drives,
    external double layers DVD drive, scanners, list goes on... you
    find that very easy to plug them in and ready to use on Mac. As for
    Windows, it depends. You will have to add drivers every time when
    you add devices manually. Mac does the rest for you.
    When people tell you that there are lots of Windows
    applications are avaliable for Windows than on Macs. It is simply
    not true. Because you can run Windows on top of Mac by using
    Parallel (specical software acts like Windows emulator).
    As for CS3 on Mac or Windows, it is matter of your comfort
    zone. you need to sit down and take a hard look at those systems
    that works best for you. I can't decide for you. You have to make
    the decision yourself. Adobe cannot make decision for you. That is
    why customer service reluclantly tell you.
    Hope that helps.
    Good luck with your decision.
    Cheers, Brian

  • Can Dreamweaver be edited in Frontpage & visaversa

    Hello,
    I have a client who has her website done in Frontpage (PC). I
    will be redesigning in Dreamweaver (mac). Are these programs
    interchangeable? In other words can we both edit back and forth
    from Dreamweaver to Frontpage?
    Is there a Frontpage for MAC?
    Thank you,
    Moomba

    Do NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT TOUCHING A FRONTPAGE SITE with
    Dreamweaver.
    Frontpage sites are based on an entirely different method of
    communication
    with the server (HTTP vs FTP), and if you upload files with
    DW's FTP you
    will break that communication!

  • Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 design view gone - what next?!

    First Adobe deprecates server behaviors, now they are removing design view?!  I am stunned.  Design View is the SOLE reason I use Dreamweaver!  (It's more of a quick code navigator in split view.) Live view has NEVER worked in a practical and usable way, and still seems very quirky at best in this 2014.1 release.
    Adobe, Please don't remove useful tools like this!  What's next; dropping extension support?  Some of us have to make a living using these tools.
    Please help me understand, Adobe.  Why not keep design view as an option?
    ...on to opening CS6 once again so I can continue actually working on projects...

    Design View is still available for normal layouts.  See screenshot.
    If you're not seeing it in the selection list, you're working with Fluid Grid layouts.  But don't panic. You have a couple of options.
    Option #1 -- Trick DW into thinking it's a normal layout by putting an X in your FG Layout CSS file. Do this in Code View, not with Designer Panels.
        Dreamweaver Fluid Grid Properties
        dw-num-cols-mobile:      X 4;
        dw-num-cols-tablet:        8;
        dw-num-cols-desktop:    12;
        dw-gutter-percentage:    25;
    =====================================
    Option #2 -- Drop back to CC 2014.0 (June Release) from these direct links:
    WIN : http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dreamweaver/win/cc/Dreamweaver_14_LS20.exe
    MAC : http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dreamweaver/mac/cc/Dreamweaver_14_LS20.dmg

  • "Code & Design" and "Code & Live" view problem i  am getting in Dreamweaver CC 2014

    Please anyone help me.
    I have 2 webpages, one is with 12 columns fluid grid based and another is without fluid grid based.
    Both are open in same site folder in Dreamweaver CC 2014.
    I want to resize/edit  my fluid grid div column in design view.
    But i m not getting the proper menu (view-->Code and Design)
    why the problem is happening ?
    If my non-fluid page is active for edit purpose than i am getting the "View"-->"Code and Design"
    if my fluid page is active for edit purpose than i am no getting the  "View"-->"Code and Design"
    but i am getting "View"-->"Code and live"
    i am unable to resize my fluid div using the resize handler.
    this is fluid based, i need "code and design view"
    this is non-fluid based

    There has been much discussion about this lately.  You can add your vote for a return of Design View below.
    Provide "Design View" for Fluid Grid Webpages
    It's an "improvement" made to the October release to promote more people to use Live View editing in FGLayouts.  As we're finding out, the removal of Design View in FGLayouts is severely impacting people's workflows.
    Workarounds:
    Step back to CC June release from links below
    Win: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dreamweaver/win/cc/Dreamweaver_14_LS20.exe
    Mac: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dreamweaver/mac/cc/Dreamweaver_14_LS20.dmg
    or put an X in the FGLayout CSS comments
    Change this:
    Dreamweaver Fluid Grid Properties
    dw-num-cols-mobile:        5;
    dw-num-cols-tablet:        8;
    dw-num-cols-desktop:    12;
    dw-gutter-percentage:    25;
    to this:
    Dreamweaver Fluid Grid Properties
    dw-num-cols-mobile:      X;
    dw-num-cols-tablet:        8;
    dw-num-cols-desktop:    12;
    dw-gutter-percentage:    25;

  • Dreamweaver CC 2014 unbelievable slow processing changes

    Ever since this latest update to Dreamweaver (2014.1) I cannot believe how slow this is when processing the simplest changes in code. I am on a windows 7 platform service pack 1 with 12 GB ram. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the speed the app is functioning at. I am losing so much time waiting for this. It runs into not responding mode for the slightest update.
    Going insane over this.

    Have you tried the standard clearing program cache and restoring preferences?
    Deleting a corrupted cache file
    Restore preferences | Dreamweaver CS6, Dreamweaver CC
    If so, you might want to do a clean reinstall using the Adobe Cleaner Tool...
    Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Or, if none of the above work, you can go back to an older version of the program until Adobe fixes the problems with 2014.1...
    Open the Creative Cloud Desktop App
    Click the Apps Tab
    Scroll down to Filters and Versions
    Choose Previous Versions
    Install DWCS6 or CC from the DW dropdown
    Or you can get the June release of DWCC 2014 here:
    Windows: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dreamweaver/win/cc/Dreamweaver_14_LS20.exe
    Mac: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dreamweaver/mac/cc/Dreamweaver_14_LS20.dmg
