Dreamweaver messed up today

Today I opened dreamweaver CS3 and my pages do not show up
correctly. I am not sure what has changed. The white background
behind the images doesn't show in the actual application. BUT, they
show when uploaded to the site. As you can see:

I am on a Mac. OSX 10.5.6/Dreamweaver CS3

We cannot really *see* anything from screen caps. We would
need to *see*
the code. Can you do that?

Inserted .flv into Dreamweaver messes CSS

When I insert a Flash move (.flv) in my website (using Dreamweaver CS3) it messes upu my div boxes and all my webpage collapses. I tried to get rid of some div boxes to check if my CSS causes problems, however after inserting .flv my div boxes that contains this file shrink/collapse.

I can't spend much time in the JS, but for some reason the navigation.js in http://www.k-state.edu/elp/lab/BookReviews_7.html is adding KSU_twoColumn to your body tag so that it comes out as
<body class="KSU_fixed KSU_left1 KSU_twoColumn">
Which results in the margin-right property of KSU_maincontent to 0 by re-writing it thusly:
body.KSU_twoColumn div#KSU_mainContent {
margin-right:0;
Now, I have no idea why navigation.js doesn't do that for http://www.k-state.edu/elp/lab/BookReviews_7A.html as well. In there, your <body> stays as:
<body class="KSU_fixed KSU_left1">
And the KSU_maincontent properties stay as defined in the CSS:
div#KSU_mainContent {
margin-right:190px;
margin-top:0;

I don't understand the need to complicate simple CSS with JavaScript appending the classes, but if Jeff Croft (author of the class appender function in navigation.js) is still available to you, I recommend asking him for help.

Database & recordset Dreamweaver mess

I create a DSN for my Access database and define it in the
System DSN, click
test and get the "Connection made successfully" message.
I view my new connection under the Application>Databases
tab and all appears
to be well. Table is there and shows all record fields.
Here's where the problem starts. I go to the Bindings tab and
try to create
a recordset. Select my table but no record fields show up in
the Columns
section. If I click test, I see the records just fine. If I
click "Advanced"
and drill down to the table, all record fields are there in
the tree. Swich
back to "Simple" and still nothing at all. If I click "ok"
anyway, the
recordest is created and the records DO show up in the
recordset tree.
The problem is that when I go to the Server Behaviors tab and
try to Insert
Record the form elements all have <ignore> next to them
and I'm dead in the
water.
Any solutions to this problem? I've never seen it happen
before. I just
re-installed WinXP w/SP2 so I thought that might be the
problem so I found
an extension that was supposed to fix it. That didn't work
either. My first
encounter with this was with Dreamweaver 8.02. I uninstalled
it and tried
Dreamweaver 8 but that didn't help either.
Just about out of ideas and could desperately use some help!

Hi! my ipod broke today after I tried to sync it. There is a red error message on the screen and it makes an obnoxious clicking. Any help??

i've had this same problem on my 30 gig 5th generation. about a year ago, i had the same problem, called Apple support, they wanted me to pay about $100 to fix it with no guarantee that it would work. I left it alone for a long time (months), charged it up again, clicked it on and it worked. Just a few days ago, I got the clicking sound again. I don't recommend this but, after pushing the menu and center buttons simultaneously and trying to charge the Ipod, I finally whacked it between my hands a few times and it stopped clicking. I charged it, then plugged it in to my computer. I got an error message "1437", which they recommend restoring the IPod to the factory settings. This wiped out all the stuff stored on my device. Now, I have to figure out how to get the stuff back on and avert the 1437 error message.

Dreamweaver rewriting my page directives

Hi there all,
Quite a straightforward question here. I'm in the position
where I'm having
to use both Dreamweaver (CS4) and Microsoft Visual Studio
2008 to create an
asp.NET application.
VS2008 for the coding part and Dreamweaver for everything
else, mainly
because I prefer the Dreamweaver interface for building and
styling a site.
I'm also using the templates mechanism within Dreamweaver to
manage the
site.
The problem is when I make a global change to a template
Dreamweaver keep
defaulting my page directives on all my site pages thus
breaking the
code-behind link between .aspx page and .vb files.
How can I stop Dreamweaver messing with the page directives?
Would be most grateful for some guidance please.

2) The Testing Server specified for this site does not map to the http://127.0.0.1/~robert/Sites/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php?Type=MySQL&Connecti onString=host=localhost;uid=dwmx;pwd=mm&Host=localhost&&UserName=dmwx&Password=m m&Timeout=30 URL. Verifiy that the URL prefixs points to the root of the site."
Any clue? I know little about PHP or Unix, but am trying to learn.

My images in Dreamweaver won't load on web

I have been creating the website for our art gallery using Dreamweaver CS4. Today I tried to put some images on a page and suddenly they won't load on the browsers??? I have been doing these pages for a few weeks now and cannot figure out why suddenly they are not loading??? The alternate text is appearing, but nothing else.... HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, you're in the right place!
Your Assets do not match your Project settings (the Preset chosen, when you do Project>New). The Preset should always match the Assets.
To find out all about your Assets, use G-Spot. It'll give you all the data. If, for instance, you want to output to DVD with SD material, and your Assets are not DVD-spec (720x480 for NTSC, with the PAR, i.e. Pixel Aspect Ration equal to the 4:3, or 16:9), you have two choices:
1.) Convert your Assets to DVD-spec, i.e. DV-AVI Type II files with PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit Audio
2.) Once Imported into PrPro, go to Effects Control Panel, with the Clip selected and choose Motion>Scale to blow up the Clip
Note: if your Assets are undersized, you will suffer degredation, when chosing either method. If you wish to Output to the exact size of the Assets, then use a Preset that matches. That's where G-Spot comes in. It'll tell you exactly what you have. Let us know what it tells you and what you want to end up with. Someone can step you through the best way to achieve that. Just remember: Assets = Project Preset, or you'll have to change the Assets.

There's a 64-bit version of Power Query which you should be able to get from the same site you downloaded the 32-bit version.
It sounds like you used "From SQL Server" to try to connect from Excel to MySQL. This will not work. You would likely need to acquire and install a MySQL ODBC driver and then use "From Microsoft Query". Similarly, to use MySQL from inside
Power Query, you will need to acquire and install a MySQL ADO.NET driver.

Messed up my library IPhoto 2.0.1

I completely messed up my library after reinstalling the operating system a while back. I neglected to read the instructions for restoring the library and everything was in a mess. Today I decided to reinstall IPhoto 2 and its upgrade to 2.01. I cleared out the old library and the pictures folder in my user folder was completely empty. Now as I carefully import the photos one day at a time, I discover that the dates in the new library folder are incorrect. My old library stored on an external hard drive has the dates the photos were taken. The photos display IPhoto in the correct order with the correct dates, but in the pictures folder the new library folder seems to be sorting them by the dates the files were modified. Don't know what's going on here. I'd really like to have them all in the correct order. Any suggestions? Is it time for me to buy the upgrade?

In all my attempts to screw up iPhoto, I don't think I've ever lost a photo that was in the damaged library to begin with. That you can see your pictures in Albums, but not in the Library view is highly irregular. Are the images you see in the albums the full-size images, or are they just thumbnails of the original (that is probably no longer in the library)?
If you've ever enhanced or cropped photos in your old library, that would explain the duplicates. When an image is altered, iPhoto squirrels the original away in case you ever want to revert back to the unaltered version. When the library is rebuilt, depending on the corruption, those originals become orphans. iPhoto treats them as "found" images in your library, and they would show up as duplicates.

Is there an easy way to use Dreamweaver?

I started my website 7 years ago in FrontPage and just purchased Dreamweaver thinking; in today's technological world aimed at 12 year olds, this has got to be easier than FrontPage or at least I'd have a head start since I created and have maintained my own 10-page website.   Wow, was I ever wrong, Dreamweaver is strictly for people with computer degrees and only speak html.   I'm told I have to html every dot, space, sentencing space, centering, etc. I paid $699 for the program, paid $250 to a web designer to just get my website into DW then teach me how to maintain it (got nothing), found another web designer, paid a $100 deposit, she "redesigned" my home page, told her that wasn't what I wanted (after explaining what I did want), never heard from her again. Just talked with a recent computer designer graduate, he wants $450 to get my website into DW and put in new navigation buttons. DW is pro-level software aimed at professional web designers/developers who are comfortable working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript code. It's a powerful tool and there isn't much you can't build in DW providing you have the necessary skills to use it.
On the other hand, Adobe Muse is consumer level software aimed at designers, hobbyists and non-coders. The price you pay for all that ease of use, however, is limited features and code that needs to be maintained in MU.   It might be all you need for now. Then again, if you want to add advanced features to your site later, you may be forced to switch away from MU which might be a worse place than you are right now.   I don't know.
Suffice it to say, a lot has changed in web standards and technology since FP was retired in 2007. Designs & layouts must cater to an ever growing list of new web devices ranging from smartphones and tablets to desktops and flat screen TV screens.
I don't know what your budget is. But for a small business web site, you really should contract with an experienced web developer (get references) who can re-build your site within a prescribed time frame to include a simple CMS (content management system) which you can use to edit the site yourself.
DW won't be much help to you unless you learn to work with code.   Code is not hard to learn. No computer or science degrees required. Just a few focussed hours and a little effort on your part will get you started on the path to success.

Export to Dreamweaver disabled

I have previously used Export to Dreamweaver successfully. Today, when I tried to use it in CS4, the option is greyed out and nothing I tried has enabled it. A search of documentation and the forums turned up no reference to this. Does anyone know the conditions under which this item is active. I do have Dreamweaver installed on that machine (not that this should matter). Thanks in advance.

I had a quick look at the feature comparison and it says that export to MS-Office should be supported. I would have thought that includes MS-Outlook. See here

GNOME messed up after system upgrade

My Gnome desktop got messed up today after a system upgrade. After login, all the things seems to become square-shaped and misplaced (like this)
I tried to downgrade some package that may be relevant, but none works. After upgrading them back again, I (accidentally) found that everything will become back to normal if I relaunch Gnome Shell (Alt+F2 then r).
Any ideas about what's the problem?

That didn't fix it for me, either. Only alt+f2 > r can help. But relaunching shell every time upon startup is somewhat annoying.
The interesting thing here is that the problem happens after the upgrade but I can't find which of the package actually cause it. I tried downgrading nvidia, webkitgtk, even systemd, none of these fixed it and the other packages all seem irrelevant.

PS CS5 Keyboard issue

Hi there! Wanna see if you guys can help me out...
Installed my versions of InDesign, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Photoshop today.
All of them worked out... except (there's always an exception, right?).
My keyboard does not function with Photoshop. I mean... it does: only shortcuts involving COMMAND, CONTROL or SHIFT.
Any of "normal" keys does not function at all!
I'm using a MacBook Pro 15" (later 2009).
Well... I don't know what to do. Tried update etc. Reinstall, install, reinstall. CS4 and CS3 worked fine.
Well... that's it. Any suggestions?

Solved: in part.
It's because of keyboard layout input.
I use U.S. International (portuguese punctuation - I'm brazilian). This is messing up with keyboard functioning on PS.
When I change from Internation to U.S. (default from US), it works. :s
But... again: it will me with ME, using keyboard on US default and not Internationl. =\
Anyone knows about this issue?

Connect to iTunes to use push notifications

After several years of completely trouble free use of my ipad 3, things messed up today. It lost my network connection even though the wifi was working fine. My mail wasn't loading correctly when the network was connected so I rebooted the iPad. After the reboot all of my e-mail passwords were gone and my Facebook password was gone. I re-entered all of the passwords and things are working ok, but I'm getting strange messages. I get this Connect to iTunes to use push notifications message on almost every app that I open. Also half of my magazine subscriptions get an endless loop of this message and I have to shut down the iPad to get them to go away. All I can say is ***? Any advice? I image ill have to reset and start over. It's weird that this happened completely out of the blue. Never had any problems at all with the iPad.

I reset it and restored from an iCloud backup. Everything is back to normal

Duplicate all-day events on calendar

I noticed that on my iPod Touch calendar, all of my all-day events go on for two days. For example, a person's birthday is showing up as going from Dec. 1-Dec. 2. On my computer's iCal, all of my all-day events look normal. What could be causing this?

I've had this happen to some of my all day events also. Somehow the events end up going from 11pm to 11pm (instead of 12am to 12am) and thus they span two days.
I'm still not entirely sure what has caused this. I've also had some of these events (these are mostly recurring events, like birthdays) that have ended up on a different day entirely - June 6 instead of October 31, for instance. In those cases the Recurring Event props got changed from a specific date to 'third Wednesday' or some such.
I have had to edit manually in Outlook -- if they say 11pm to 11pm, change it to 12am instead. And check the recurring props to be sure they are correct.
You might also want to check your location settings. I have sort of wondered if this has to do with location as I had it set to Indianapolis (which only started observing DST last year - maybe that isn't factored into the software yet?) and wondered if that is what messed things up, since all day events did shift by 1 hour. I have location set to New York now but can't prove that fixed anything -- I found a few more events messed up today, but then just now remembered to check World Clock, and it was still set to Indy. <shrug>
