Dreamweaver MX 04 writing to profile

Looking for assistance with a problem a few of my users have
encountered with their profile quota being exceeded as a result of
Dreamweaver writing to it.
Have had a quick look and cannot see any options in the
install or application that allow this to be changed.
Admittedly being a bit lazy asking for help without really
spending much time on it but bit swamped any assistance would be
much appreciated.
Cheers

  • Transferring dreamweaver preferences to new user profile in CS3

I have been having Vista problems that may be caused by a
    corrupt user
profile so have created a new one and transferred files etc.
Dreamweaver treats this as a new user and file associations
    etc have all
disappeared. I have spent some time setting up everything as
    I need it
for my v hosts set up. Importing all the site definitions was
    a 2
second job. Is there a simple way to transfer the preferences
    across as
easily or does anyone know the relevant registry location and
    procedure
that would accomplish the same in CS3 on Vista?
    Any help appreciated.

I think trying to be clever with moving my profiles to
    another partition
got me into this so I am being ultra careful with back ups!

  • How can I keep Dreamweaver from re-writing my code?

How can you stabilize your code so Dreamweaver leaves it as
you wrote it? I get it right, then dreamweaver rewrites it wrong. I
fix it, then dreamweaver 'fixes' it and it's wrong again. I've done
this over and over and can't get the code I wrote to stick.

That would sure be the ticket.

  • Problem with JavaScript snipet that DreamWeaver is writing

I am having a problem with code that DreamWeaver (CS3) is
writing. I'm fairly certain the problem is in a small piece of
    JavaScript that DreamWeaver is composing.
This is a fairly complex problem, so bear with me.
First - What I am trying to make happen: When on a page on my
site (the-oilman.com) I want a link that opens a new window in the
on-line store at a different site (AMSOIL.com). I need to leave
both the page on my site open and have this 'store' page open.
First of all this is working fine, using the 'Open Window'
'behavior' in DreamWeaver. If someone wants to change windows (or
tabs) and go back to my page, leaving the 'store' window open also
    - the problem is set up to happen. If from back at my site, you
click on the same or a different link that goes back to the 'store'
either on the same page or a different page at AMSOIL.com - the
'store' window goes to the correct page, but the 'store' window
does NOT come on top. When they click on a link to go back to the
'store' I need the 'store' window to come to the top. If they have
previously put something in the cart, and come back and add
something else to the cart in the 'store' by coming in from
different links on my site the 'store' is working correctly because
I leave it open the whole time.
snipets of code that DreamWeaver is writing for my site
    (the-oilman.com):
    from the head:
    <script>
    <!--
    CSAct[/*CMP*/ '129AABC1'] = new Array(CSOpenWindow,/*URL*/ '
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=store','store',0,0,true,true,true,true,tr ue,true,true);
    CSAct[/*CMP*/ '129AAC63'] = new Array(CSOpenWindow,/*URL*/ '
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=store','store',0,0,true,true,true,true,tr ue,true,true);
    CSAct[/*CMP*/ '10D39F40'] = new Array(CSOpenWindow,/*URL*/ '
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=storefront/sso','store',0,0,true,true,tru e,true,true,true,true);
    function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0
    window.open(theURL,winName,features);
    //-->
    </script>
code from 2 different links that is using this script:
    <a href="
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=storefront/sso"
    target="store" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('#','store','')"
    csclick="10D39F40">Buy Now</a>
    <a href="
    http://www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&page=store"
    title="AMSOIL Store at AMSOIL.com" target="store"
    onClick="MM_openBrWindow('http:www.amsoil.com/redirect.cgi?zo=52257&amp;page=store','stor e','')">On
    Line Store</a>
I believe what I need is a longer javascript. Instead of just
"window.open" I need an "if" but my javascript knowledge is very,
    very limited.
I need it to first check that if the window named 'store' is
open then 'focus' it, or if it is not open to open the window named
    'store'.
Will this fix my problem? If so, please help me write the
lines of code to do it.
If this isn't the solution, what is the problem and the
    solution?
A separate question but related: if you look in the two
different links codes, in the function call one of them uses a
'null' page reference and the other repeats the full link reference
from the href= . Both seem to work, but which is the correct or the
preferred syntax. My guess is there are some browsers that this
will give a problem, but which way is preferred.
    Don Dawson
    mailto:[email protected]

Create a new page. Try to apply this same behavior to a link
    on that new
page. Look at the code. Can you reproduce the problem there?
    The code you
show below has oodles of GL stuff in it. Do you need that GL
    markup?
What operational sequence did you go through to get this
    behavior call?
    onClick="MM_openBrWindow('#','store','')"

  • Dreamweaver CC won't launch

I've downloaded Dreamweaver CC, but it won't launch. The icon bounces and then that's it. I've uninstalled, reinstalled and I get the same result. Any ideas?

    Hello,
There could be various reasons behind that.
    1. Corrupt or insufficient Permissions at the Disk
To fix this Repair permissions using Disk Utility.  Mac OS X Tutorial: How To Repair Disk Permissions - YouTube
    2. Corrupt Preferences Folder.
Please go to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe and Rename Dreamweaver CC to Dreamweaver CC_Old and then try to launch Dreamweaver.
Please go to ~/Library/preferences/Adobe and Rename Dreamweaver to Dreamweaver_Old and then try to launch Dreamweaver.
    3. Corrupt Profile.
Create a new Admin User profile and try to launch it there.
Please try the 3 suggestions above. If it still do not fix the issue please let us know.

  • Updating Templates in Dreamweaver with a Contribute managed site?

My company sited up a site for one of our clients using Dreamweaver. We created templates with update sidebar, header and such if needed to. The client uses Contribute to manage the main content sections and create new pages.
I have the site saved locally on my computer. Make the changes to the template which updates the all the pages linked to it but when I upload them it overwrites the content the clients has made.
What is the best way update the templates in Dreamweaver without over-writing the main content parts of the the client had made with Contribute?

Before you make any changes, perform a Get (down arrow icon in the Files menu) operation to download any client-updated files first. That way, your local files will be exact duplicates of what the client has placed on the server. After verifying you have the most recent versions, make your change and upload.

  • Dreamweaver and Wordpress compatibility

    Hi,
I'm not familiar with this community so hopefully this is the appropriate venue for this question.
I am an old school coder and have switched to using wordpress for my health website/ blog ( http://doctorscotthealth.com ). I'm struggling to create the design elements and personalizations I'm envisioning. I am frustrated with some of the limitations. Can Dreamweaver help updating wordpress templates by accessing and manipulating the php scripts? or is Dreamweaver strictly for writing standard html/css pages? Does it work with php I guess? Is there any teamwork that can be acheived with the two frameworks?
If so are there are any recommended tutorials?

You certainly can use Dreamweaver to code a custom template/theme for WordPress, but you're going to need to have strong php coding skills. I recommend you spend a lot of time with the tutorials and forums over at WordPress which can guide you through some of the process. You'll also need to set up a "local host" on your computer in order to test your code. (Google local host, WAMP or XAMPP or MAMP for more info; there are also a number of threads here about setting up a local host, so search here as well.)
I don't know if Pinboard is a free or premium theme (the one you've currently selected for your site), but if you are not strong in coding php, you might have an easier time finding a good, well-documented premium theme that meets your needs. You'll be able to do some customization, but all the heavy lifting will have been coded for you.

  • If I've used Aptana would switching to Dreamweaver help or complicate me?

I'm considering using the new Dreamweaver software to build
basic dynamic pages. I'm hoping it will speed things up.
However I've heard that Dreamweaver's code writing is poor
and the formatting is difficult to recognize and edit.
    It this true?
    Thanks.

Dreamweaver's Code View is excellent for writing markup. But if you are a high-level JavaScript programmer used to an environment
such as Aptana, you will most assuredly be disappointed. It all depends on your programming level.

  • Dreamweaver CC suddenly (yesterday) stopped viewing web pages via F12 key.  the browser opens but times out on all browsers now

I have been running Dreamweaver since 2008 (CS).  I have a server on the local network that I save my work on and remotely connect to it via a mapped network drive W while in Dreamweaver.  When Dreamweaver starts it loads via the site the mapped drive contents.  It shows the files and folders of clients I am currently working on.  Up until yesterday I was able to open a folder in Dreamweaver CC, work on a file and to view it in a browser, I would of course save the current changes and press the F12 key to bring up the browser and display the web page in full screen view.  I never used the live view button on the Dreamweaver menu before, I only pressed the F12 key to see the browser in full screen and display the html page.
However since yesterday when I press the F12 key any of my browsers (Firefox 29.01, Internet Explorer 11, Opera (latest), Safari (latest)  and Chrome (latest) only open and Time Out.
I am running Windows 8.1 update
I am running Adobe Cloud CC for my Adobe Products
    Attempted Fixes to date:
    I have searched online forums
I have uninstalled Dreamweaver CC and re installed it
I again uninstalled and reinstalled Dreamweaver CC and deleted the profile settings
I have contacted Adobe support but they said the F12 key worked so cannot help any more
I still have the same problem.
The only way to view these files in a browser is to right click the file and select open with and select the browser to check it with.
Can anybody help me as I have been running my current set up since 2008 without any issues.

Can you verify that the shortcut key is assigned properly for browser preview here:
If it isn't, Click the last option 'Edit Browser List' > edit the settings in the preferences tab:
This will ensure that your keyboard shortcut is mapped properly.
If the setting in 1st screenshot shows the shortcut properly, but still isn't loading, you could try trashing your cache: Deleting a corrupted cache file
Let us know how it goes.

  • Exception from Jaxb

    Hi,
Im getting the follwoing error when I try to marshal a content tree to a new xml file:
DefaultValidationEventHandler: [ERROR]: a required field "Profile" is missing an object
I know that this error occurs because the element "Profile" in my application doesnt have any value sometimes. So, when there is no values the exception is thrown. And I get later, at the time of marshaling the content tree, a java.lang.NullPointerException.
Could anybody tell me, please, how to overcome this? Id like to know if it is necessary that all the elements have a value all the time or there is a way to set some sort of property that makes the element without values be ignored.
    Thank You!

While creating XML against a XSD , u must have all the elements(tags) in that XML file that are mentioned in the XSD , BUT u can have blank value for that element.
In ur case u r not writing that "Profile" element in the XML file. thats why it giving error. U just write that element in the XML and keep its value as blank. So when a XML is created it will contain that element just like this-
    </Profile>
i.e. it contains blank value but the element is present in XML file. So while marshalling set this element to the JAXB object. Now xjc it will not complain.

  • My Button Doesn't Work!

Building my first site and I'm oh so close (until the next
thing goes wrong.) Right now I'm preoccupied with my navigation
buttons. Actually, I'm just trying to test one button in a #nav
div, but all the other buttons are ready to go if I can figure this
    one out.
I've created three versions of the button. Outer bevel, for
normal, outer bevel with white text for rollover, and inner shadow
with white text for active. (I know, typical, but this is my first
time! I can't wait to get Flash and learn how to make super sweet
nav bars!) I started out inserting rollover images...but I can only
use two images there. Next I tried to use CSS ID rules ie. #nav a,
    # nav a:hover, #nav a"active, thinking I could change the
background to the new image, but that didn't work, either. (I'm
assuming those rules are just for simple text buttons, plus I
couldn't get that crazy blue line to go away even though I set
decoration to none. In any case, it didn't work.)
Then I remembered the behaviors palette from my reading, and
I started playing around with that. So I went back to insert
rolloever image, and I've got my onmouseover and onmouseout
behaviors there, but I can't figure out how to add an onclick
behavior and get that third image (button) to work! (By the way,
there's some crazy script function stuff going on in code view,
which I assume is all about the behaviors: function swap image
restore, preload images, swap image, etc. No idea what any of that
means, which is why I'm learning Dreamweaver and not writing code!)
I'm not getting anywhere so far, but I think I might be on
the right track, since there's an "onClick" behavior. I just can't
make it work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be
jumping for joy when I get my first site working!

    > I can't wait to get Flash
    > and learn how to make super sweet nav bars!
Oh yes you can. If you want to use Flash for navigation,
    consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    > but I can't figure out how to add
    > an onclick behavior and get that third image (button) to
    work!
    You won't be able to. There's not a place for a three-state
    rollover when
using DW's javascript behaviors. Instead, go back to your CSS
    approach with
the button images as BACKGROUND images on the anchor tags.
    Make sure you
give each 'button' a unique ID, like -
    <a href="..." id="button1"...
    <a href="..." id="button2"...
and then you can use CSS to set the "down" button's
    background image to the
    down state on each page.

  • Need help with attempting copy of 1 line of text

    Hello All,
I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I've been using DW for many years and write php/mysql code with it. Over the weekend, I downloaded and instalt a brand new copy of CS4 .I'm trying to learn all the new ins and outs.
I'm using Dreamweaver and am writing a php script. I'm in Code View and have my page structured with all the php code at the top of the page between my <?php and ?> symbols and all my html form code at the bottom. I'm attempting to copy one line of php code from my script to paste in the same script just a bit farther done in the code.
I hightlight the line of code using the left button of the mouse and then press Cntl-C. When I do this, DW highlights all the php code from the open symbol to the closing symbol and then moves the screen view to the top of the page. This same behavior happens if I highlight, and right click to select copy from the pop-up menu.
I'm only trying to copy one line of code so this is really very odd to me!
Do I have a setting value wrong?
    Is anybody else experiencing this??
    And help at all???
    Thanks,
    Dennis

This has been discussed to death. Just click the top item in the More Like This box on the right.
It's an intermittent problem. I have never once encountered it in working on several machines and operating systems. Others find themselves constantly plagued. The key to finding out what causes it lies in finding the common element that triggers the problem. No one has managed to do that so far.
It appears that making a change in the page before trying to copy eliminates the problem. Others have also found that switching workspace clears the problem.

  • Writing form data to a database - Dreamweaver CS5

    Hi guys,
I am fairly new to the whole PHP, MySQL thing. I was wondering if anyone can assist me. I am trying to find a nice book/tutorial or if any of you can assist I would be greatful. I have created a form page, for explanation purposes lets make it easier and use only 2 fiels. Say the fields are called name and email. How do I write this data to my database, lets say the database has 3 fields:
Field 1: name=id, int, primary key, unique, auto-increment
    Field 2: name=name, string[30]
    Field 3: name=email, string[50]
I want the data entered into the online form to be INSERTed into the DB when the submit button is clicked.
The Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Classroom in a Book in topic heading of chapter 15 said that this would be covered but they did not cover it. There must be an easier way to do this in Dreamweaver than writing the hard code in PHP. I know that the above mentioned book shows you easy ways to put data from the DB onto the content page. Does anyone know of a reference that can assist in teaching this vital skill?
    Thanks,
    Owen

These questions are best asked on the DW Application Development forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver/dreamweaver_development
However, you can use the SERVER BEHAVIOR called INSERT RECORD to insert any data into a database.  Take a look at that if you want to try to figure this out on your own.

  • Using Dreamweaver without roaming user profiles.

In the college I work at, we have a single Windows R2 2008 domain of consisting of hundreds of Windows 7 workstations that students use to do their work.
Due to various network performance issues, last year we stopped using roaming user profiles for both staff and students, and instead use home directory redirection for things like desktop content and favorites. But we have hit a problem with the Dreamweaver CS5.5 application. Students using it are said to be having to repeatedly set up Dreamweaver connections to the same FTP server, in effect re-configuring Dreamweaver after login before they can use it.
I've not had any confirmation from Adobe, but it appears that because roaming profiles are not being used, the local profiles that Dreamweaver saves settings to is resulting in students having to re-configure settings whenever they log into a computer.
Is there a way that Dreamweaver can be forced, via a group policy or other means, to save/load its settings to/from the home directory of a user so that the user can then log into any computer on the domain and the Dreamweaver application will automatically load its saved settings for that user?

Setting the Roaming profile is a Computer configuration
Setting the Exclusions is a User Configuration.
Hopefully you are applying the Computer configuration to an OU with Computer objects and the User Configuration to an OU that contains the User objects?
Is loopback processing affecting an of the OU's that are parents of the Computer objects OU (or the child OU itself?)
If you are not restarting the computer, then your profile will remain locked and user settings will not be able to write to the registry to change the location.
    Have you:
    enabled the user exclusions
    gpupdate /force
    reboot the computer
    login
I know under some circumstances profile redirection/roaming can take two reboot cycles to apply correctly.
Can you run the Group Policy Result Wizard from GPMC for the correct user and computer to ensure your policies are applying as you think they are?

  • Dreamweaver Sites - Mandatory Profile

    Hi
We have a mandatory profile here, and are just in the process of Rolling out Adobe CS4 Design Premium onto our latest disk image.
All appears well , except for Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver wants to store the sites in
    C:\documents and settings\%username%\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\SiteCache
    but!
wehn a user logs out they lose this information, then when they login again they need to re-attach the site.
    Is there a registry fix that I can apply that will redirect the ;
    C:\documents and settings\%username%\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\SiteCache
    to
    C:\documents and settings\%username%\My Documents\DreamWeaver
as the MyDocuments is actually directed to the users home area.
    Thanks.

Is the policy configured to always update on NDS authentication?
