Dreamweaver MX 2004 crashes with one of my sites

I have been using Dreamweaver MX 2004 for a number of
different websites over the past few years, but now, one new site
which I have recently imported, causes DW to crash as soon as I try
and open it. This is also happening on my second pc.
The site was built using an older version of DW and using
style sheets.
Anyone know how I can fix this?
I have Windows XP on both machines.

Instead of importing the entire site, I would create a new
one and add each folder individually through DW then maybe I would
find the folder that had the file causing the crash. Once I found
the folder causing it. I would add the files from that folder
individually until I found the file causing the issue.
Then again, I work with smaller sites so it may be a huge
pain for you. The other thing is rebuilding the site definition may
fix the problem.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 compatibility with latest versions?
I have templates in a old Dreamweaver MX 2004 and want to update my software. Will I need to go in steps to a version a few years back and then to current?  Or can I go all the way to current?
I also can't get my old dreamweaver to register anymore and they have NO support for it.  Any clues?  It is legit an I have the registration numbers and all the same but it won't take it for some reason.
thank you all for any support you can give.

HTML is HTML.  The product you use doesn't matter much except in terms of "ease of use" and quality of code it generates.  MX is a dinosaur.  Depending on how you built your sites with it, you may need to update your code to modern web standards.  But your site's code will remain editable in any version of DW.
That said, a LOT has changed in 10 years.  So if you don't have really strong coding skills in HTML and CSS, you will struggle with newer versions of DW.  The interface is different, too, so it will take some adjustment.
CS6 is the only version you can still purchase.

  • PHP MySQL sites created by dreamweaver mx 2004 crash on safari

    Hello,
The title says it all, but i will elaborate.
I develop PHP, MySQl driven database websites, I use
Dreamweaver MX 2004 and I work on a macintosh, using both safari
    version 2 and 3.
i have noticed that whenever I post a database item (add,
edit to table) my safari hangs and I get a page cannot be displayed
error after 1 minute or so, even though the db function went
    through.
Now, this only happens with safari and it only happens with
pages I build with dreamweaver, any hand coded websites I build do
    not do this.
i have posted this on the apple website with no response, I
am hoping someone here can help me.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 incompatibility with Intel/OS 10.6?

    Hello All,
I hope this is the correct forum for my question/problem, which is that when I try to launch Dreamweaver MX 2004 or Fireworks MS 2004 on my brand-new MacBook Pro running 10.6.4, they begin to launch, jumping up and down in the dock several times, then simply quit--no error message or indication of why. I am posting the crash report below. Can anyone shed any light on my problem? Thanks.

It's simply that MX 2004 is not designed for use with Snow Leopard (or Leopard for that matter). It hasn't been tested by Adobe (I believe Dreamweaver was still a Macromedia product when that version was released), and it's unlikely that a bug fix is coming out to resolve the issues. It's also not a Universal app, which means it is using Rosetta to run on your Intel based Mac.
I know it ***** to have to drop $200 on an upgrade, but depending on how much you use Dreamweaver, the increase in performance might be worth it.

  • Indesign CS4 Crashing with one doc only

My Indesign CS4 crashes with only one document (my most valuable document, of course). It does not crash with other small docs.
The exact problem occurs on two Intel Macs (Mac Pro 6gb of Ram and MacBook Pro with 2gb of Ram): The doc opens for about 5 seconds then the ball starts spinning and I need to force quit.
I did change fonts for the document a few days before the problem began, so if anyone has suggestions how to diagnose corrupt fonts, please let me know.
If anyone has suggestions on how to recover my document, please guess away.
    Many Thanks.

I finally was able to recover a backup copy that was 2 days old. I am happy with this as I thought I was having to go back 2 weeks.
I recovered it by continuously opening and force quitting every backup I had over and over, then attempting a save-as.
One thing I noticed is that Indesign automatically opens up previously opened documents even if it crashed. This creates a loop that was tricky to work around as Indesign would even with a good doc opened. It would open the corrupt doc at the same time causing a crash.
My lesson is to rename the document backup every day (not use the same name), and back up on a secondary drive. Thus, if this happens again the worst thing that will happen is that I lose only 1 days of work.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 Crashes Everytime I Open It

Everyday when I open up Dreamweaver MX 2004 for the first

Cache means exactly the same on any operating system. It's
    where
information is stored by an application to speed up its
    operation.
Occasionally, a cache gets corrupted, so removing it and
    letting the
application re-create it usually solves any malfunction.

Dreamweaver, and the application still crashes when I open it.
Try troubleshooting step 4 in the following technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19105
If that doesn't solve your problem, it sounds as though there
    might be a
problem with your computer's RAM. You need to run a utility
    to check the
    computer's hardware.

  • Dreamweaver mx 2004 compatible with extension manager 1.8

Can Extension Manager V1.8 be used with dreamweaver mx2004?

There's no reason at all for a Flash navbar on that page.
Any CSS-styled navbar would work fine. Set up as a Server Side Include would remove all the tedium from keeping it maintained sitewide.
Alternatively, have you considered dispensing with Dreamweaver and setting up the entire website as a Wordpress site with a modern responsive Wordpress template?
Wordpress is free. You need a PHP enabled hosting account.
After that your only cost is the cost of the Wordpress Template if you choose a Premium one e.g. http://themeforest.net/popular_item/by_category?category=wordpress which I normally do since they're so cheap, attractive and powerful.
I've done this for a few non-profits and it serves them well with minimal to zero cost and any authorized person can safely update the website at any time.
Wordpress plugins (Premium and free) add a whole other layer of features and flexibility.

  • Office 2004 crashing with Leopard

I installed Microsoft Office 2004 on my Leopard HD and it keeps crashing. Anyone else having this trouble?

I've been having some problems as well... the main issue was w/ Office 2004 Word, the thesaurus tool wasn't working or showing. I contacted Microsoft through email and this is what they said:
+If it is the new Leopard there is a known conflict because the Leopard has its own Spelling and Grammar tools now and they may be conflicting with Microsoft Office. There is a way to check this out. Create a new test Mac and to do that follow the steps below.+
    +1) Close all open programs.+
    +2) Click on the Apple.+
    +3) Select System Preferences.+
    +4) Select Accounts.+
+5) Click on the Plus sign.+
+5) For the name, short name, password and verify password please use the word "test".+
+6) Please ensure this user can administer the computer.+
+7) Close out of the accounts window.+
+8) Log out of your user and log into the new user.+
+9) Try to open Word then try the Thesaurus.+
I did what they said and the problem seemed like it was fixed but a day later the same thing happened all over again. Hopefully it'll help fix some of your problems... Good Luck!

  • Have had crashes with one computer but not another. one that crashes has adobe flash payer 15 active x installed. should I uninstall it

I have two dell computers - one with 7 and one with 8. have numerous crashes on 7 but not 8. noticed Adobe flash player 15 active x is installed on 7 but not 8. is this the problem. should I uninstall it?

It’s very sad, but many of the software down-loaders / installers will trick you
into installing not only their program, '''but other programs as well'''.
You have heard of the '''fine print in shady contracts''', right? Well, some
installers you need to look at the '''itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print'''.
You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program
you want by using the '''recommended''' option. But if you use the
'''Manual Option Instead''', you discover all kinds of stuff that
'''you do not even know what it is or what it does'''. From now on,
everyone needs to '''Use The Manual Option''' to put a stop to this.

  • Why does InDesign CS5 keep crashing with one particular document?

I have CS5 for both Mac (OS 10.7.4) and Windows (XP). An INDD file that was working just fine for me yesterday is now causing crashes when I open it... on both machines! Other documents open just fine.
The only thing I've tried so far is to move all my linked images (there are 21 so far) into another folder.  When I open the doc, I now get the pop-up window that tells me I have missing links, but once I click on anything in that window (either update or don't update), the crash happens right after that.
Any ideas??  I am on a deadline and have lost most of today already.
    Thanks,
    Ellen

Ha! Thanks for jogging my memory... our system IS backed up daily, and now my friendly IT guy is going to look for the last backup of the file. Silly me for not remembering that.
I'll try uninstalling the fonts next.  I do not use a font manager at work.
    Thank you,

    Hi Francesco,
I did try changing the default printer in my control panel and then going in and changing it manually in PS and that didn't work either...  I can't even get to the print dialog.
I did completely update photoshop to make sure it was current.  that didn't help.
I have another 11x17 full size doc full color, similar file size, that printed just fine... I'm going to try to open it in AI and get it that way...
    Thanks for your help.
