Dreamweaver mx 2004 reinstall lost data ?

the "manage sites" data, extensions, snipets ec will get lost
with a dreamweaver mx 2004 reinstall ? is any way to backup
them(and use in the new install) ?

Export the site definitions using dw
menu-->site-->Manage sites
You could make a copy of the Configuration folder for you as
a User then use
it to replace the fresh install one. BUT- why are you
reinstalling? If it's
from dw behaving flaky, the problem is probably in the
Configuration folder
for you as a user...
Would be better to make a list of installed extension (that
are used) then
get copies of the .mxp files to install them fresh
If on windows, may want to take a look at the free MM
Exporter utility.

  • Is it possible to restore lost data from an app that was deleted then reinstalled?

I had a problem switching the accounts on ITunes and accidentally deleted an App, all of its data was deleted and when I repurchased the app(free app) I cannot access the games account. Their support won't let me solve it. Can I restore the lost data?

Ah. That is a pity, my last backup on Itunes was 2012, the app i only recently got.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 - "An Unidentifed Error has occorred." - Please help!!

Hi folks. I have scoured the internet for a fix to this problem. Most of the posts I read are unanswered or the solution does not work. I am hoping a guru reads mine and has the magic answer - I am ready to chuck the project altogether if I can't find a solution. Although I am not a newbie to simple page design, I have never really tackled data access (dynamic content) before, like I am about to. I am ready and willing to learn but this obstacle may hinder my interest if it is going to be this big a pain in the keester.
Let's start with my system config:
    Windows XP Pro w/ SP3
    Dreamweaver MX 2004
IIS 5.1 - configured with FTP support
    PHP 5.2.11
MySQL 5.0 - For now I am using the Test DB that comes with MySQL. Using "root" account.
I have verified that all is running properly to the best of my knowledge. Certainly Dreamweaver up until this issue has worked for years. I have not used DW for data access before on this machine but have successfully on others.
IIS > Loads web content from http://localhost just fine. Including PHP test page. And IIS help stuff that comes pre-installed.
MySQL > I can build DB's and Schemas just fine. I can even import data from external sources so I have to assume it's running fine.
Dreamweaver > The site I am building has the following config:
    Local Info
    Site Name: medimj
Local Root: C:\medimj *set to refresh
    Images: C:\medimj\images
    HTTP: blank
    Remote Info
    Access: Local/Network
Remote Folder: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\medimj\       *set to refresh auto
    Testing Server
    Server Model: PHP MySQL
This site contains: Dreamweaver MX Pages Only (default)
    Access: Local/Network
Testing Server Folder: C:\indetpub\wwwroot\medimj\          *set to refresh auto
    URL Prefix: http://localhost/medimj
<<<Everything else I believe is irrelevant to the topic and left to defaults>>>
SO HERE IS WHAT IS HAPPENING:
When I go to make a data connection (Step 4 under the Database tab of Applications section in DW), I click the "+" button and select "MySQL Connection". The dialogue window appears and I input:
    Connection Name: medimj
    MySql Server: localhost
    User Name: root
    Password: <password>
I click "Select" button and get an error window that says "An Unidentified error has occurred." and I am taken back to the MySQL Connection dialogue box. I have tried adding http:, slashes, \medimj, IP address, and pipe name to the Server name to make the connection and none of it works. If I put a DB name and click "ok" the binding will appear but no table ever come into view. If I click on "Test" I get the same error.
Here is the mysql area of the test.php. From what I see, I should be able to make a connection; but I'm not expert. Should I be seeing more information?:

I just don't see what's wrong at this point. I really hope somebody here can help.
I've been at this for 4 days and uninstalled and reinstalled everything to no avail. I hope I have given enough information for someone to make a suggestion that will help. I thank anyone for their time in advance.

I would like to share with everyone a fix for this problem. I wish I could say I found it here but I did not. After continuing to search the Internet, while eagerly awaiting an answer here, I stumbled upon the answer deep in a thread in the MySQL website forums.
If someone should find this topic before the supposed Adobe fix, please do not waste your time with what Adobe suggests. It has been know cause more problems than help - as was the case with me. Applying their "fix" forced me to reinstall MySQL and a fresh version of PHP. I am also providing OS information and versions of all components I am using as well as settings within Dreamweaver. I cannot speak as to whether this fix transitions across other versions of Dreamweaver but it's worth looking at if yours does not match mine.
NOTE: ALWAYS MAKE A RECORD OF WHAT YOU CHANGE. THIS IS BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING AND WILL MINIMIZE THE NEED TO REINSTALL IF THINGS GET WORSE. BEING ABLE TO REVERSE WHAT YOU'VE CHANGED IS IMPORTANT.
    System Info
OS: Windows XP Pro w/ SP3 (patched to the hilt)
IIS: 5.1 (installed from XP Pro CD - additional windows components)
    PHP: v5.2.11 (installer version)
    MySQL: v5.0.87 (installer version)
    Dreamweaver: MX 2004
Install IIS, PHP, and MySQL per their individual instructions.
    IIS Tweaks
Note: This tweak assumes you haven't already created your website virtual directory under IIS. If you have, you can delete it and follow these steps. You don't have to but I like this recommendation I found on another site as it tricks DW into thinking its attaching to an "outside" server. You'll see what I mean when you see the DW confg options later in this topic.
    1. Create a folder under c:\inetpub\wwwroot that matches the local folder in DW for the site you are designing. Make sure they are spelled the same. If you have pages and images already in your local folder for DW, you don't have to re-create them here. You can sync them to the "server" much like you would when you FTP your pages up to a live server. Just make sure the root folders are named the same.
    2. Right click your localhost site select "properties". Click the "Home Directory" tab. Click on the "Configuration" button. Under "Application Mappings", click the "Add" button. A new dialogue box appears > In the "Executable" area, browse to the root PHP folder and select file "php5isapi.dll" and click ok to return to the dialogue box. In the "Extension" box type ".php" without the quotes. Make sure "Script Engine" and "Check that file exists" are checked. Click ok.
NOTE: A DIALOGUE BOX MAY APPEAR ASKING IF YOU WANT TO PROPOGATE THE CHANGES ACROSS ALL OTHER SITES. YOU CAN SAY YES BUT IT DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK. (IT'S AN IIS THING) TO SEE IF IT DID, CHECK THE PROPERTIES OF YOUR VIRTUAL DIRECTORY AND FOLLOW STEP TWO IF YOU DON'T SEE THE PHP MAPPING THERE.
    PHP Tweaks
    1. extension_dir = c:\php\ext ~ change folder to match your install
    2. cgi.force_redirect = 0 ~ required for IIS
    3. register_globals = On
    4. register_long_arrays = On
    5. extension=php_mysql.dll ~ removed the ;
    6. extension=php_mysqli.dll ~ removed the ;
    7. include_path = "."
    8. mysql.default_host = localhost
    9. mysql.default_port = 3306
**NOTE: IF I DIDN'T PUT QUOTES - NEITHER SHOULD YOU.
    10. Save and Close
    copy the file libmysql.dll
to c:\windows & c:\windows\system32 ~ this file is in the root of PHP 5 folder
XP Environment Variables: Add the following at the end of Paths> c:\<php folder>;c:\<php folder>\ext ~ change php folder for your install
NOTE: ANY CHANGES TO ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE SYSTEM PROBLEMS IF NOT DONE CORRECTLY. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A ";" AT THE END OF THE PATH BEFORE YOU ADD THE CHANGES.
REBOOT!!!! THESE CHANGES WILL NOT TAKE EFFECT UNTIL YOU DO SO.
DW - edit current site or create it new
    Local Info:
Should be left however you have it now OR if creating new, just do it like you always have.
    Remote Info:
    Access : Local/Network
    Remote Folder: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\<your virtual directory>
    * Check Refresh Automatically
    Testing Server:
    Server Model: PHP MySQL
    Access: Local/ Network
Testing Server Folder: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\<your virtual directory>
    URL Prefix: http://localhost/<your site name>
    * Check Refresh Automatically
** I don't make changes to anything else under site editing so I stop there. Click OK and you're done.
At this point, you should see under the "Application" section on the "Database" tab, steps 1,2,3 checked. Now create a connection by clicking the "+" button. Enter the following:
    Connection Name: <whatever you want>
    MySQL Server: localhost
User Name: root (or another account you have created with sufficient privileges)
    Password:
Database: enter a DB name you wish to connect to or click select if you wish to browse for it.
You shouldn't get the "Unidentified Error..." message anymore. I know I don't.
I hope this helps the next poor sap this happens to. I'm sorry for the long post but I hate, hate, hate, when people post half assed instructions because they are too lazy to type.
Good luck everyone and happy designing!!!

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 won't launch.  Please help!

My old laptop running Dreamweaver MX 2004 is dying, so I installed it on my new Windows XP laptop.  I have installed it several times before and never had a problem.  On the new laptop, when I launch Dreamweaver, it does not start.  In Task Manager, I see a Dreamweaver process start, then two ~e5d141.tmp processes start, then they all disappear.  One Macromedia Licensing.exe process remains for a few seconds or a minute, then it disappears too.  Technical support said my license and registration are all okay.  I installed the 7.0.1 upgrade but that had no effect.  There is nothing the event logs.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling in safe mode, launching it in safe mode, disabling the graphic accelerator, and lowering my screen resolution to 1280x1024.  I also tried several "Compatibility mode" settings.  I cannot find any log or dump files, although I might not be looking in the right places or for the right file names.  Can anybody please help me?
    Thank you.

    Good morning ArtieTet,
I had the exact same problem and came across your post. I've since solved it on my computer. I'm not sure what your level of computer expertise is and whether or not you're comfortable editing your registry, so I've dumbed-down the following instructions a bit - forgive me if they're too dumbed-down!
    1. Click Start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type regedit
    4. Click the OK button
    5. Double click the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key (folder) on the left
    6. Double click the SOFTWARE key
    7. Double click the MACROMEDIA key
    8. Right click the DREAMWEAVER MX 2004 key
    9. Click Rename
    10. Type a new name for the key, such as OLD DREAMWEAVER MX 2004
    11. Press Enter
    12. Try to start Dreamweaver again
If all goes well, Dreamweaver should open and re-create that DREAMWEAVER MX 2004 registry key from scratch. There's likely some corrupt data in it, though I haven't been able to figure out what. If I do, I'll let you know.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 hangs (10.5.8 PowerMac G5)

After not using Dreamweaver MX 2004 (7.0) since Mar 17, 2011, I tried to launch it today.  The icon bounced once, the beach ball whizzed and and application hangs.
    I deleted dreamweaver prefs: hang
Checked for and installed Dreamweaver update to 7.0.1.2181: hang
    Repaired permissions
    Restarted computer: hang
Created a Test OS account: hang
Only changes to the Mac are the 2 security updates 2011-1 & 2 and Safari 5.05 (which is not in use)
Other odd behavior: Fans seem to be running more than usual.
Checked Activity Monitor: AuthenticationSe using 99% CPU
Before I uninstall/reinstall DW, would appreciate any help or advice.  I cannot update Dreamweaver beyond this version.

  • I recently reinstalled OSX 10.6.8 on my mac pro, and also reinstalled my data from time machine. However I do not have system dis 2, as a result a lot programms do not work. I tried unsuccessfully disc 2 from another macbook pro with OSX 10.6.8. Any help?

I recently replaced the hard disk on my macbook pro. As I had lost my original system disks that came with my mac, I paid an authorised Apple Reseller to reinstall OX 10.6.8 and also they reinstalled the data from my Time Machine back up. However, I have noticed a lot of functions no longer work. I was told by Apple Reseller that they only installed system disk I (operating system), but not system disk II (programme disk), as they do not have that disk. I was advised to use Disk II from any macbook pro with an OS 10.6.8 or higher..... I tried that but it did not work as mac would not read that disk. Can anyone please help me solve this problem?

Or, it the OP's paid technician missed it the first time, he can mount the OS X install DVD on the desktop, open the Optional Installs folder, double click on the Optional Installs .mpkg, and step through the process until arriving at the "Installation Type." There, the OP can check off Rosetta, iPod Support, Qucktime, Printer Support, more fonts, and a bunch of Applications, including Address Book, iCal, iChat, iTunes, Mail, Dictionaries, Safari, and X11 for installation. Both those installs and whatever is on Disk 2 can be installed without starting from scratch.
And while having the original installer DVD's that came with the Mac is the best way to go, the OP can download the 10.6.8 combo updater and run that. Since it's an all purpose updater, it configures itself for the Mac it's run on so, in a sense, it's customization after the fact. If the combo updater is run before Disk 2 is available, it can be run again afterwards. Indeed, I've found that the combo updater can fix problems which normally would call for a reinstallation of the OS; not always but sometimes.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 in Win 8 activation

I used the chat service to ask about transferring my Dreamweaver MX 2004 license from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8 computer.  The person said DW MX2004 will not run on Win 8.  But it does - I am using it under the 30 day grace period.  I just need to activate it but the transfer will not work.  Help please.

    Jeff,
Thanks for the info.  I will sift through it.  The Win 8 machine was a new purchase.  I use Windows Easy Transfer to bring over my settings and files.  None of the apps were transferred of course.  As far as I could tell, all my email and other data files came over ok.  I use Eudora for email and since the ini files reside in the same folder as the data, it installed and retained all my settings.  Yes I still use Eudora - it just works and I have found nothing better.  Browser favorites came over fine too.  Folderclone settings transferred, etc.  I would hazard a guess that any settings that were stored in some sort of ini file in my data directory or user directory came over fine.  But for most apps I had to manually restore my settings.  Dreamweaver was one of those - I redefined the site definitions.  <vent on> No doubt there is some registry setting or whatever getting in the way.  I can appreciate the difficulty of catering to legacy code in new operating systems.  All the more reason to keep things simple.  If Adobe insists on using a 'too clever by half' activation scheme, they should have built in a back door that their support staff can use to activate stubborn but valid installs. <vent off> I'll wander off now and see if I can set up new Admin account.  I tried earlier today but get mired in Win8 obtuseness.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 in 10.5 - not qualified but working?

I own Dreamweaver MX 2004 and though I know it will never be supported, I want to know if it is functioning for people in 10.5 or 10.5.1??
I haven't been able to use it on the Leopard partition I'm testing yet, because it comes up wanting me to re-authorize the license when I launch it. And I don't want to do that just yet for fear that I could be using too many of my authorizations. I will be wiping this drive and completely reinstalling Leopard when the time comes. And it would be a shame to never again be able to authorize Dreamweaver MX 2004.
BTW, anyone know how many times we are able to authorize it over the internet in the lifetime of owning the software before we can never re-authorize it again?
I wipe my drives very often and reinstall for stability reasons and would hate to know that someday I could suddenly lose my ability to re-authorize a program I paid for.
    thanks

    Hi David:
Wondering if you have tried installing and running this. I use Studio MX 2004 including Dreamweaver periodically, but have been running it off my backed up Tiger. As far as authorising it. If you de-authorise before wiping the drive should be okay to re-input the key after re-installing. If you have any problems with the key you can call up Adobe and they are pretty good at helping you get re-activated.

  • Help! DreamWeaver MX 2004 reactivation doesn't work!

Following having to reinstall my complete system from a backup, due to a deep seated virus I just couldn't get rid of, my DreamWeaver MX 2004 now requests reactivation.
I tried the online reactivation, but this no longer exists, and the phone activation doesn't work either!
It was working just fine when I made the backup, and was working fine before I had to reinstall.
I have tried Adobe chat, but they tell me it's too old and they don't have the info now.
Well, MX 2004 suited me just fine right now, and my serial number is a non-expiring one, so why can't I use it? At the moment, I just can't afford a new version.
All I need is the confirmation number normally given out on the phone to make it work...
    Any ideas please?

    Hi,
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to reply.
After some more extensive digging I found the solution, which I'm putting here for others if they are in the same situation.
Adobe has a page giving new serial numbers following the discontinuation of the activation server.
Go here for the new serial #'s for the whole MX 2004 series:

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 can't delete extension

I was updrading my version of Dreamweaver from 7 to 7.0.1 and
was asked to switch off my extensions I did this for all the
extensions except 1, which was "WebAssist.com SiteAssist", and when
I attempted to de-select it, Extension Manager locked and was not
    responding.
I could not also delete it similar with similar result. I
have now installed Ver 7..1 of MX2004 and I still can't delete I
get Extension manager locking and giving No Response.
If I try to de-select it in Extension manager I get this
    message:
    The file'C:\Documents and Settings\Jim\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX
    2004\configuration\Shared\WebAssist\SiteAssist\Images\ad\2006-01-01.jpg'
is missing. The extension package will not be created.
Has anyone got any idea how I can delete this extension so
ican re-install it, I can't install it for when I try I get the
    same message.

it's probalby not compatible with your os.
if you're using windows, you can try using compatibility mode which may (or may not) allow installation and some degree of functionality.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 question

Am trying to use Dreamweaver MX 2004 for the first time in about 6 months and can't get the software to boot up. The Adobe website states that they deactivated the servers for some of the Macromedia products late last year, and that I should get an error messaage and be able to enter the new activation code there Do not get any error messages - software just doesn't boot up. Have tried reinstalling software with same lack of results.

John the activation server shut down will only affect new installations of Dreamweaver.  I would recommend posting the specifics of the errors you are receiving in the Dreamweaver forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver.

  • Dreamweaver mx 2004 takes too long

    Hello:
I have a problem with dreamweaver mx 2004. I just had to
recently re-install it and download a file that lets it recognize
mac os x 10.3 (even though I was already using it that way).
Then I started getting a message that said I had to adjust
the dreamweaver timelines. I don't even know what that is.
Then that message dissapeared. Now I click on one of my save
files and it can take forever to bring it up. Then when you click
anywhere on the page, the little colored pinwheel appears (which
means I am thinking). It can take several minutes before that
vanishes and then you can access any point on the page. Before it
leaves the page cannot be touched.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to
correct it? I can't get any work done.
    Thank you.

Well there ya go, 352 MB's of RAM really isn't much. Not
understanding how RAM effects the performance of a computer is
probably why you still think Macs are a good idea. (IE, I'm not
blaming the Mac, I'm blaming you - what kind of programmer doesn't
know what RAM is? You chose the Mac) The more you know . . .
    Here this will help:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAM#Uses_of_RAM
As far working one day and not the next, I thought you were
    saying it never worked right
    quote:
    . . .a problem with dreamweaver mx 2004. I just had to
recently re-install it and download a file that lets it recognize
    mac os x 10.3 . . .
Since more RAM isn't an option and it really does sound like
your system is doing too much at one time, perhaps shutting down
    some things that run continually?
What was the original prob w/ Dreamweaver? Did you install
anything new? Have you tried uninstalling "download a file that
lets it recognize mac os x 10.3" and reinstalling? What did Adobe
tech support say? I know they are less than helpful sometimes, I've
had to install Macromedia Studio on several MAcs at a previous
employer and there always seemed to be liscensing issues w/ the mac
versions of their software. Perhaps that's it? I've never seen that
particuar error, but their software would have weird errors on all
the macs on run and when I finally called the tech support people
at Mac it was a liscening issue. I wish it would have just said
that, but instead it gave weird messaages like "blah, blah blah
    could not be found" etc.
And really, I say it from Love when I say, give up the Macs.
I'm not trying to make fun, I'm trying to help, I've had to
maintain both since the late 80's and if your doing anything
serious, anything, you will be much more effiecent and flexible if
you use a PC. (Not that they are perfect either).

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 cannot reach server because  it cannot determine time

I have been using Dreamweaver MX 2004 for years and suddenly it cannot open my web files. It says it cannot determine the server time. I tried rebooting my computer. No change. I tried updating Dreamweaver. The installer says Dreamweaver is not at the file location where it is. Any ideas on how to get this working?

This is the only article I was able to find online with any reference to this issue.  Hope this helps:

    Hello All,
I hope this is the correct forum for my question/problem, which is that when I try to launch Dreamweaver MX 2004 or Fireworks MS 2004 on my brand-new MacBook Pro running 10.6.4, they begin to launch, jumping up and down in the dock several times, then simply quit--no error message or indication of why. It's simply that MX 2004 is not designed for use with Snow Leopard (or Leopard for that matter). It hasn't been tested by Adobe (I believe Dreamweaver was still a Macromedia product when that version was released), and it's unlikely that a bug fix is coming out to resolve the issues. It's also not a Universal app, which means it is using Rosetta to run on your Intel based Mac.
I know it ***** to have to drop $200 on an upgrade, but depending on how much you use Dreamweaver, the increase in performance might be worth it.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 mis-pathed folders

Please bear with me, I am NOT a web developer nor even a
    uperior
technical being. I do drive a computer for a living (CADD)
    and for the
past year and a half have been updating and maintaining our
    website,
which was built using Dreamweaver MX 2004.
The gal who built the site HATED Dreamweaver and sold me her
    copy for
my own use when her work was complete. I have not had any
    significant
problems with the program nor keeping the site current until
    this past
week, when suddenly all the folders "point" to an incorrect
    path name.
This feels like a Windows issue - all the folders and files
    are still
present in the root directory they were created in, but
    Dreamweaver
insists on looking in this new place - which incidentally is
    a canned
Windows path, c:\MyDocuments\Owner\ etc etc. Yes, I have gone
    to the
Files Site screen - got the main root folder to change, but
    my Images
    file folder is still inop.
Any suggestions would be MOST welcome - I do not look forward
    to having
to copy off each and every individual file and then delete
    and rebuild
from scratch! If I go that route I will also uninstall DW and
    reinstall
the program - unless there's a better way?

This is usually the result of linking to a file that is
    OUTSIDE of the
    current local site.

    What does this mean?
Was the site recently moved to a new system or something?
