Why can't I activate my Dreamweaver CS3 program on my new computer?

After 4 hours of searching on internet and trying to be in contact with Adobe support, I found this forum with people with the same problem i have.
I need to deactivate Acrobat Web Premium CS3 on an older XP machine and activate it on a new Win7 Enterprise.
The application is on both machines successfully installed/registered and I can continue to click on Help | activate/deactivate (On both machines activate and deactivate is not greyed out),
but I’m receiving the message Activation - No Connection
I’ve checked the internet connection, proxy server  and host file, all are correct.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 website docs onto new computer

Have website docs in Dreamweaver CS3 on a computer that's crashed and need to get them on new laptop.  Dreamweaver CS3 has been activated on new computer, however, how do I retrieve docs from the old computer and get them onto the new one?

If your sites are online, and the hard drive is complete toast, you can create a new site on the new computer and then use the "Get" command in DW to download the entire thing.
    1. Create a new site on the new computer using Site > New Site
    2. Click the Advanced tab, click Local Info to set the root folder to a new empty folder, then Remote Info to add in your FTP info
    3. Click OK
    4. From the files window of the new (empty) site, click the connect button (plug in icon)
    5. Click the Get button (down arrow) in the Files window
DW should ask if you'd like to "Get the entire site?" click Yes. Everything in your site's root folder on the server will download to the new site folder created in step 1.

  • Photoshop activation on a new computer.

I own Photoshop CS. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's old. But I bought it. Actually paid for it. During a time when everyone seemed to have a copy of one version or another (in pirated form), I actually went out, and paid for it. My wife and I were at a convention in Las Vegas, and we purchased it directly from Adobe, at their display in a huge  convention building with painted dancing girls, whole football fields set up for the purpose of showing how green Fuji photos could make grass look, and small airplanes were flying around... Really. Anyway, we bought it, from a gal in a giant rotating tower of people working with Photoshop, showing on a myriad of screens all the wonders they were creating with this revolutionary product...
We went home, loaded that bad boy on our computer, and entered the world of the digital darkroom.  Yesterday, I bought a new computer, with the sole purpose being to provide the memory-hungry Photoshop program an amount of memory it might be satisfied with. Quad-core processor, 750 GB hard drive, and 8 gigs of RAM. To some, a pretty powerful computer. Today, anyway.
I loaded the software, and got the usual "Activation within a month or you can't use it" message. I tried, limbering up my fingers to enter the mile-long serial number on the back of my ancient jewel case. It said "Sorry, activation not available, call this number for activation". So, dutifully, I did as instructed. This time, I was required to enter said mile-long number on my phone, always fun, tiny touch screen button... gotta love 'em. Then, it gave me a number to enter back into the computer to complete the process. I did that, and then, it said "Sorry, we no longer do activation by phone. Go to this web site: www.Adobe.com.go.activate" Went there, and was told to chat with a live representative. I did that, and was told "your only option is the $19.99/mo subscription". Um, the what? I paid $550 bucks for this program, and now, years later, if i want to keep using it, you want me to pay you twenty bucks a month, forever? Not for tech support. Not for upgrades. Just because you want some more money. Is that right? Seriously??
Am I the only one who thinks this is crazy? Is this even LEGAL???? Is there any way to make Photoshop just turn off the activation thing, and leave me alone? All I want to do is use what I bought and paid for. It's like buying a car, and ten years later, the car company says , "Hey if you want to keep driving this car, you'll have to send us monthly payments, or it won't run anymore".
    Help...?

Charles stebbins I would recommend contacting our support team directly to verify the serial number was never registered.  You can contact our support team at Contact Customer Care.  An Adobe ID was required to activate the software so it is likely that the serial number was registered under a particular e-mail address.  You can request that your account be searched for by e-mail address and/or phone number.

  • Activation possible on new computer?

I bought a new computer (Windows 7)and discarded my old one (Windows XP).  I had installed Adobe CS5 in November of 2010 on the old one.
CS5 was migrated to the new computer, but it does not work, as is, on the new computer.  I get a "Configuration Error".  The error code is 131:4. Support from Adobe via chat is not available for CS5.
What steps must I take to register/open/activate/work with my older program on my new computer?  I need specifics where available and links where possible.  Thanks in advance.

Migrated? You need to install it properly using the original media or you can download the installers here:

You don't want/need to transfer it, just install on the Mac like you did on the Windows machine using the Mac installation file(s).

  • Deactivation and Reactivation on new computer

    Hello,
I want to deactivate the CS5.5 and CS6 suites on a computer, then reactivate it on a new computer I just purchased.
    I have the Creative Suites.
Do I need to deactivate each and every program in the suite or is there an easier way?
    Thanks

    UPDATE:
By deactivating Premiere Pro, you deactivate the whole Suite.
Installing and activating onto a new computer was seamless.

There is no "deactivate" function and the technical support person I chatted with recommended I come here.  Can I just use the serial number again?  How can I deactive?  Has anyone else run into this?  How can I get Dreamweaver 8, which is no longer being activated by Adobe, on a new computer?  Is it even worth doing or do I need to get a new version.  What are the killer features I'm missing?

If you manage to get it installed on your current OS, don't forget to install the 8.02 update.

  • I moved Creative Suite 5 to a new computer, deactivated on the old, activated on the new, but only Illustrator and Photoshop will open. The rest of the suite will not open. How do I fix this?

I moved Creative Suite 5 from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Air and followed the instructions for deactivating on the old and activating on the new but only Photoshop and Illustrator will work. I need to also access InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Is there a way to fix this? Problem with the MacBook Air is that is doesn't have a disc drive so I had to transfer via external hard drive.
    Cheers.

The problem is that you need to install CS5 from an installation file or installation disc. You can't just copy files because there are lots of supplementary files that don't get put in the right location.
You'll need to use the Adobe Cleaner to remove all the stuff on your new computer:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then download an installer for CS5:

Copy the files from the CD to a USB drive and then utilize the USB drive to install the software.

  • Question about migrating dreamweaver to new computer

I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to dreamweaver and I recently had to go out and get a new computer after cracking the screen of my old laptop.  Now I need to migrate dreamweaver onto my new system but also want to retain the directory structure of a few websites I work on... is there a way to move everything from one computer to another without affecting my site structure etc?

Do you have any ability to fire up DW on the old system?  If so, then do it.  Once started you should do these things:
    1.  EXPORT all site definitions from DW's Site manager.  Save them to a thumb drive or a CD or a shared network drive so you can get at them on the new computer.
    2.  If you have any custom Snippets, Server Behaviors, or any other custom configurations, put your user configuration folder on that same medium so you can get at it.
    3.  Then you should copy ALL the root folders of all the websites you have on the laptop to your portable medium.
    4.  Under HELP, De-activate the laptop's DW, and exit.
On the new computer, install DW, provide the S/N, IMPORT the site definitions, and start DW.  Then exit DW, copy the configuration folders you saved to the new Configuration folder in the user section, copy the root folders of the websites to the same location on the new computer, and you're ready to roll....
If you cannot start the old computer, then you'll have to just install DW, recreate the site definitions, connect to each site and download the files.  You will need to contact Adobe and restore one activation since you can't de-activate the copy of DW on the laptop.
    Good luck!

  • How can I activate an old version of Dreamweaver on a new computer? (2004 version)

I had Dreamweaver 2004 on my old laptop which recently crashed.  I need to transfer the program to my new computer.  Online activation has been shut down for this version.  How can I activate it?

Keep in mind that 2004 software is more than a decade old now.  Adobe no longer supports it.  And it was never intended to run on modern operating systems so you may experience problems.  Also, web standards have changed a LOT in 10 years.  This might be a good opportunity to update your software.
