Dreamweaver MX2004 stopped working

Please advise if this is not the correct place for this query.
Having used Dreamweaver MX2004 for a few years on my old XP computer and for 12 months on my new Vista based machine I was surprised when I received the error message ' Dreamweaver MX2004 stopped working' when I tried to run the programme (it wouldn't run at all).
Since then I have re-installed it, uninstalled it completely and installed again but still it will not run.
I gave up then and fell back to using a very old Hot Metal Pro as I cannot afford a new Dreamweaver application.
The problem had begun soon after a big Windows Vista update and I seem to remember that other people were having the same problem at the same time. It was suggested that Microsoft had admitted that certain software wouldn't run after the update and Dreamweaver MX2004 was one of them.
That was about 4 months ago and I hoped the problem had been fixed by subsequent updates but it hasn't.
My Dreamweaver MX 2004 still will not run despite another re-installation.
Any ideas please ?

Thanks SnakEyez2, but the circumstances are not quite the same.
In my case the Programme will not open at all. As I have un-installed from Control Panel and re-installed from the CD I am wondering now if it is my Windows Vista which is at fault.
Thanks for the tip about Updating but I am dubious about spending good money on an update until I find out in case that will not open also.
I will try emailing Adobe Support in a few days time as it is down for maintenanca until the 14th.
I read sometimes about Registry entries being corrupted but am loathe to investigate that as it seems a jungle to me.

Dreamweaver Suddenly Stops Working

Issue:
Dreamweaver CS3 has been working fine. Suddenly, now it will
stop working when searching a page, typing or performing other
actions under Vista.
Note that the pages contain quite a bit of Javascript which may
be a factor. However, these are existing pages that use to be
fine
Not sure if there is a file cached that I can delete.
Restarting did not solve the problem.

Found the Answer in another Post:

Dreamweaver just stopped working CS4...HELP!!

After about 6 weeks from purchase, today Dreamweaver CS4 just launched the green splash screem and thats it. I have unloaded, loaded twice but its not launching.
I downloaded the files from MY ACCOUNT, put in my serials numbers, get a GREEN CHECK MARK...and it loads after a bit of time. When I launch the GRENN SPLASH screen only pops up. I shut off all virus software, shut off XP firewall but the same results
Thats it...I am at my ends.. someone.....help....

Try step 4 in the following technote:

If that doesn't work, try #12, deleting your personal configuration folder. It's in the same location.
On Vista, it's located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration.
It's a hidden folder, so you need to enable hidden folders in Windows Explorer. Rename the folder to Configuration_old and launch Dreamweaver. It should create a new Configuration folder with the factory defaults.
Is it an Acer computer? There's a known conflict with Acer security software. Get the patch from here: http://www.egistec.com/oem-acer001/program-update.html.

CSS Transitions Fluid Grid Layout Dreamweaver Cs6 'stops working'

I am unable to use the CSS Transisions panel at all in Fluid Grids Layout.
I open the panel but when I select the + to add a transition, the program crashes.
This is my second website, the same happened when building my first website, but I did without as I could not get a solution (about 18 months ago).
I need it on this website.
Some people in Adobe support have my files but can't seem to find a problem. I have Windows 8 on a powerful computer.
We've tested CSS Transitions on a brand new Fluid Grid Layouts page and it works.
But never for a page I have content in.
I began seeking help on this about a month ago and now I'm really being held up.
I'm disappointed and frustrated that Adobe isn't being more pro-active in finding the solution for their customer.
I can't email customer service to flag my problem, I am reliant on people who don't get back to me in a timely manner.
What can I do as this Adobe product has not been working for me and I am relying on it.

As to why DW is closing you down, I don't know. That's not an expected behavior.
Without seeing your code, I'm going to guess that your CSS transition logic is incorrect or you're attempting to add transitions to the FluidGridLayout.css which is never a good idea. Always use a separate, external style sheet for your manually added content styles. Changes to either boilerplate.css or the temperamental FluidGridLayout.css files can result in problems.

Dreamweaver stopped working. XML parsing fatal error: Invalid document structure, line1 Tried reloading DW. Didn't work.

Dreamweaver (CS5) stopped working. The error message says - XML parsing fatal error: Invalid document structure, line: 1, I tried to reload DW. No change. I also tried to reset the computer to an earlier date before I reloaded. Also didn't work. Can anybody shed some light?

The first thing to try is Deleting Corrupted Cache. Be sure to turn on Hidden Files & Folders in your file manager (Win Explorer or Mac Finder).

When defining site dreamweaver stops working when uploading local folder

I have tried moving this folder in my efforts to get Dreamweaver to load it. However, it is the same problem on every occasion. Every time it proceeds to load the files, it stops halfway through, with an error message saying, "Dreamweaver has stopped working....", then crashes. It is one of the applications on my Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection??? Please help! Many thanks in advance.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 stops working when I try to see my work in "Live View" or in "Multiscreen Mode", I am running this program on a MacBook Pro, with Mac OS 10.7.5.

Ask in the DW forum and provide more details. Could be a performance or security issue.

LIcensing has stopped working DreamWeaver CS4 Mac OS 10.9.4

Have followed instructions here

as much as possible.
Solution 1: I don't have [hard drive]/Library/Preferences/FlexNet Publisher/ on my hard drive so can't delete it.
Solution 2: Have tried to run license repair tool in terminal. I type sudo python then drag LicenseRecoveryLauncher.app across, but get invalid syntax returned.
I haven't gone any further than this.
I did have adobe photoshop cc trial on this machine, which I deleted and wonder whether this has now screwed up Dreamweaver (I don't use it so much these days).
Any help gratefully received, Tim

Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014 Helper has stopped working

When I try to import an Flash SWF file created with CC 2014 I get an error that says Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014 Helper has stopped working. Then I get the option to check online for a solution and close the program or just a second option to just close the program.
Any suggestions to a fix?

I insured that Flash 64 bit was installed on my computer.
This problem must have something to do with embedding a Flash file. I could not recreate the problem on other client's websites. I pulled all the Flash code and the problem went away. Of course I want to include a Flash file so it's still an issue for me.

Mouseover stopped working in Dreamweaver CC

I'm trying desperately to determine why my mouseover effects stopped working in Dreamweaver CC. Everything was working fine, so I cannot figure out where I went wrong. This is a class exercise to produce a navigation only. The images in the navigation should change upon mouseover.
I've checked my code against my classmates' numerous times. I can't see anything wrong, nor did my Professor when he looked at it. I've searched the Internet and tutorials for a solution. It's driving me nuts.

Dreamweaver CS6 "has stopped working" when closing

Hey, I recently upgraded to Windows 8 x64 and have had an annoying issue with Adobe Products. When I was using 7 x64 I never had any issues really, loved that OS.
Whenever I close Dreamweaver or Fireworks, a Windows error comes up saying "Dreamweaver/Fireworks has stopped working".

it says: You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT admin or Adobe customer support for help.
Well it seems I am only able to install this on a maximum of 3 computers so if I uninstall and reinstall I may have used up all three. What caused this in the first place?

And most licenses extend to 2 machines; not 3. Your computer's clock probably reset when you changed batteries. Is your computer's clock set to the correct date and time now?
