Dreamweaver On A Mac

Hi, I am a Windows User but have just switched to the mac.
I'm using the new Dreamweaver and would like to have the same type
of window-based work space in Dreamweaver. When it opens windows
are everywhere - can I change it back to look like it does in
Windows?????
Thanks,
B

This is why you see so many Mac users with huge, or multiple
screens, more
so than the PC. The Mac desktop frequently looks like a yard
sale. This has
always been my biggest complaint about the Mac, if you have
four or five
programs open at once, things can get really messy.
Fortunately with CS3 Adobe came to the rescue by allowing you
to "doc" you
pallets, similar to the PC... unfortunately the new UI didn't
make it to
Dreamweaver this time round. Hopefully next time.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
    there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
    all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780

I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP?

New CSS Sculpter Page / New PVII PagePack

    Hi Linda,
While Dreamweaver on any Mac is *very* buggy, we have an
    extensive suite of
test machines, including several Macs, and our Page Pack
    command does not
cause a crash. I would uninstall all extensions then clean
    your application
    cache (using Tiger Cache Cleaner).
    Restart.
    Install a Page Pack extension
    Restart.
Try your File > New PVII PagePack command.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disapear

Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disappear.
When adding bold in design view (strong) to two words at the start of my paragraph the last line of the paragraph disappears. This is somewhat worrying as it means any editing I do in dreamweaver could do massive amounts of damage to the content.
We are pasting the original content into the code view so as to strip the formating Dreamweaver then decides to take the last line break in the source code paragraph and then delete it see example below:
<p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aenean dignissim nisi id risus varius ut scelerisque massa consectetur. Vestibulum non tortor augue, sit amet dictum lacus. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Curabitur ultrices felis et dui tincidunt sit amet tristique est pulvinar. Nulla a lectus quis erat ornare ultricies. Sed ac elementum magna. Nulla aliquet accumsan nulla. In dictum accumsan tortor eget consequat. Suspendisse potenti.
So when applying Strong with the Bold button in the design view to the first words 'Lorem ipsum' the last part of the paragraph 'lobortis vehicula lacinia interdum odio' will be deleted. Bizare and very dangerous especially for Annual Report content.
Any experience of similar or solutions would be greatly received.
PS. I have restarted, repaired permissions, checked dreamweaver is up to date trashed plist's and removed duplicate fonts.

It could be a problem in the templates.
In all honesty, I just tried pasting text into the Design section of a page.
It doesn't even work on my Mac, and it took three tries to get it to actually paste in VIsta.
I had to go to the code and reformat it after it did paste, but it eventually went.
I don't work with templates much.
Well, that actually makes me feel a little better, if it makes sense to feel better to learn that it could be the expensive software and not just us. I guess I will view this as an opportunity to improve me coding speed :-) Thanks for the feedback.

I am a long time user of Dreamweaver CS 5.5 for PC and recently purchased an IMac. I have a trial version of Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac and am having difficulty displaying an html file in Live View. • HTTPS and MMHttp in Dreamweaver CS3 for Mac

MMHttp doesn't seem capable of HTTPS communication in
    Dreamweaver CS3 for Mac.
    When I do something like
    MMHttp.getText("https://americanexpress.com");
the resulting response has no data and a status code of 0.
    With
    MMHttp.getText("
    http://americanexpress.com");
(i.e. non-SSL) the response has data and a status code of
    200.
This works fine on a Windows version of Dreamweaver CS3. Does
    anyone have any suggestions?
I've only tried this on a trial version of DW CS3 for Mac.
I'm hoping to get a full version soon.

I managed to get a full copy of Dreamweaver CS3 for the Mac.
HTTPS doesn't work with MMHttp there either.
    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Who uses Dreamweaver CS3 on Mac OS X?

    Howdy,
I'm curious to know how many of you here use Dreamweaver CS3
on the Mac? Not bothered bout you Windows users, I've used it on
there and it's fine (although bulky and slow).
I made the switch to mac a long while back, and coming from
Windows and HomeSite (oh how much I love homesite!!!) the natural
move was to go to Dreamweaver. So I bought a retail copy (along
with PhotoShop CS3) for quite a bit of cash, and I don't use CS3 as
its pretty damn awful on OSX!
By the way, I NEVER touch the WYSIWYG part of Dreamweaver
(wish I could delete all WYSIWYG stuff from it, as that what slows
    it down I'm sure)
To name a few bugs (I'd like to know if you experience these
    too):
    1. It's very slow and bulky, I mean just moving the cursor to
a new line in code view is slow, just doesn't feel good. It
actually feels like its about to crash on me any minute! And I'm on
a 6GB 8 cOre 2.8GHz Mac Pro... so its not my Mac :)
    2. I set my toolbars up to my own preference (i.e. I like to
have the "Standard" menu showing and the "Document" one not) then
suddenly out of the blue "Standard" has gone and the "Document" one
is there. Sometimes I boot up and all is good, open a document and
it disappears (along with the line numbers on the left), right
clicking says its still there but it isn't.
    3. Certain folders on the left file view REFUSE to close! I
collapse them, open another folder up (uncollapse) and what do you
know, the other folder pops open again. Close and open dreamweaver
its open again... I've never manged to close this particular
folder, dreamweaver really likes it for some reason?
There are plenty more, but they are the main ones!
The unfortunate thing is I cannot find a good alternative on
OS X for syntax highlighting, the fact that HTML elements are
coloured differently is invaluable to me, and thats one of the main
things I love bout Dreamweaver (not to mention the global replace
feature that other IDE's don't include)?
Bring HomeSite to OS X is what I say :)
What is your experience of DW CS3 on OS X? Does it all work
correclty for you? Or are you annoyed by it too?

I plotted my escape from Microsoft for years before I finally
    knew
enough about software and the technologies I was using and
    had
sufficient money to make the leap. (I went for a top of the
    line MacBook
    Pro.)
On the negative side, I've learned that the Mac isn't a free
    ride.
Upgrading to Leopard was a wrestling match, as was upgrading
    to Adobe
Creative Suite (largely because certain sales people sold me
    the wrong
upgrade package - twice). I'm also bothered by a number of
    annoyances
that sometimes remind me of my Windows PC.
However, I'm working with a far greater variety of software
    programs
than I ever had on my PC, and the annoyances seldom turn into
    the minor
catastrophes that made life with M$ living Hell.
So far, Dreamweaver is working fine for me. The biggest
    annoyance is the
fact that it likes to jump back and forth between "Spaces,"
    though
Spaces remains my favorite Leopard feature.
I'm sorry you're having problems with yours - and I was
    shocked to hear
that that Rosetta crap also applies to Dreamweaver. I'd never
    heard of
Rosetta until I had some problems with my browsers. Enabling
    Rosetta
fixed the problem, but, sheez - all that Rosetta business
    sounds like
something that came straight from Bill Gates' living room. So
    I'm not
sure if the problem ultimately rests with Adobe, Mac OS X or
    both.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the situation to
    advise you.
However, if you live near a sizeable Apple store, schedule an
appointment with their "Mac Geniuses." I've gone in to see
    them at 7
a.m. a couple times - free of charge - and they were a big
    help.
If you're using Leopard, I assume you've already installed
    the two
updates - 10.5.1 and 10.5.2. Ironically, the second update
    appeared to
create one of the very problems it's supposed to eliminate.
    (Whether or
not it's actually a problem is a matter of debate in the Mac
    community;
it hasn't actually caused any problems for me.)
You might also try posting some questions on Apple's forums -
    http://discussions.apple.com.
If nothing works, and you do go back to M$, I certainly
    wouldn't hold it
against you. If Apple and/or Adobe don't have their act
    together, then
you can't blame people for returning to a platform that
    works. However,
I have much greater confidence in both Apple and Adobe to fix
    their
problems in the long run than I do in Microsoft. Even if you
    get
Dreamweaver to work on your PC, will your other software
    programs work?
In summary, I've learned that there's no free ride in
    computing. But I
still prefer my Mac to M$, and I don't believe I've heard as
    many
complaints about Dreamweaver on a Mac as I have about Vista.
    But do
    whatever's best for you.

Do you mean you want to move a website from PC to Mac or Dreamweaver from PC to Mac.
As far as I'm aware you can't move Dreamweaver from one platform to another.
You can move websites built on the PC in Dreamweaver to a Mac or vice-versa.
All you would do is copy the websites site root folder onto a mobile storage device like a memory stick or portable hard drive or cd. You could even email over the site folder to the other computer if its not that bigger site.
Once onto the other computer (which presumably has Dreamweaver installed) all you would do is define where the site folder is located>Site>New Site>Give it a name> browse to the folder and select it. Thats it!

Hi. I'm in a real situation here. I want to download

    Simon

That is going to be hard to find because Adobe usually keeps
the links here and doesn't share their demo files and the fact that
8 is not the latest version. However, with Leopard right around the
corner and 2 months away, why don't you just wait for that upgrade
    then try CS3?

Assuming you have defined a LOCAL SITE within DW, use INSERT > IMAGE (browse to the image on your local HD or DW Local Site folder)
If image is not already in the DW Local Site Folder, you will get a prompt to copy the image there. Hit YES and tell DW where to put the image within your local site.
