Dreamweaver On-Line Courses
If anyone is interested in a Dreamweaver course(s) I highly
recommend
Dreamweaver
8 at Ed2go.com. I have taken HTML, Dreamweaver4 and Flash MX
through Ed2go and the courses are very good and are taught by the
top Dreamweaver and Flash instructors in the country.
The best there are - right here -

Using a Mac for an on-line course that "requires" a PC?
I want to take an on-line course from Gatlin Educational Services. They claim that I must use a PC for the software to be compatible. When I ask them about using a dual-processor iMac running windows they won't say either yes or no. Just that "some students" have had problems. In input out there? Thanks
MelissaMelissa:
If you have an Intel iMac as your profile indicates and have MS Windows installed then I would definitely try that online course out on WIndows. Once Windows is running on your Mac then your Mac will behave just like any other PC running windows and should run the same Windows based applications that any other PC would run in your iMac's class.
I would try it out.

Learning: Creating Web Sites Upgrade and/or On-Line course?
Hi.
I am determined to learn how to create web pages/sites.
Does anyone know of an 'on-line' course, having trouble finding one?
I have CS3 Extended, should I stick with this and buy a "Web Site for Dummies" book, or is there a better alternative? Happy to buy upgrade or other software if necessary.
Aiming to go professional… one day. (Just love a challenge.)
As I live on an isolated cattle station in the Pilbara WA, an “on-line” course is the only option as I cannot attend classes. (We have Satellite Internet.)
I have Windows 7, 32 Bit – and a lot of time on my hands…The courses at Lynda.com are very good.

IMac for on-line course that requires running Windows 98 or later?
I am planning to take an on-line college course that says it "must be taken from an IBM Compatible (PC) computer running Windows 98 or any later version operating system. *An Apple (Mac) computer will not work for this course*." (Bold words are theirs.)
If I have to I can purchase an inexpensive Win system, but I would prefer not to. Is it possible to run a version of Windows on my iMac that might work? If so, can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance, very much!
MelissaIt would be cheaper to buy VMWare Fusion or Parallels and some cheap/used/old version of Windows.

Dreamweaver MX Developer Course
Hi,
I have been looking at some of the distance learning courses
that are available on studio 8, e.g. Macromedia Certified
Dreamweaver MX Developer. And there's my first problem; they all
seem to be for MX and not 8, I have heard from some people (the
ones that are trying to sell me the courses!) that this is because
of the take over by Adobe and that although the courses will be
re-labelled the content won't change. Understandably I can't quite
bring myself to trust them so I am hoping that you kind,
knowledgeable folk out there can fill me in on the courses, and
whether and when they will be updated.
Thanks,
JoJo xNone of them. Get a good book on HTML and on CSS and work
your way through
them. Then you'll have the tools to decide what to take and
what to avoid.

Taking On-line Course for PC based computer
Hi,
Just tried to take a course https://learningctr.redcross.org/ and I could not access the downloaded class, IT explained they say they no longer support mac. I can't access using Safari, Explorer, FireFox, Netscape. Very frustrating. Will the Flip4Mac work for online training?
Or do I have to find a PC? Why would an online learning company do this type of selective audience?
Mac Mini Dual Mac OS X (10.4.9)Hello S Crawford
I not exactly sure what's the best thing for you to do. I can go to the site and download the Student Guide as a Word.doc to my desktop and then open it with Microsoft Office X (an old PPC ram gusler version) It all worked from there I could scroll thru the pages and work in the doc. I can only assume that a newer version would do the same thing for you. The catch here is that Microsoft Office for Mac is not cheap, I know with the old versions you could authorize like 3 copies for use, but nothing about newer ones. Check with everyone you know using Mac's, maybe one of them will have a copy.

Hello all,
I'm new to Dremweaver and to HTML, I'm in the process of
learning Dreamweaver,
a beginners course with emphasize on design.
I've read all the threads I've found here on the subject of
transferring html code from Dreamweaver to ebay listings.
My question is: is there a way to embed css, or style without
the use of css, in the body of the page so that
by copying and pasting anything in between <body> to
</body> to my ebay listing will duplicate my design.
If my question is very green, It's because I'm green.
I read a lot of blogs about people designing wonderful ebay
listings with their html editor and then copy/pasting
from but not included <body> to </body>, so I
wonder what happend to style ? without it the page is very simple.
I've followed a one year old thread within this forum, and it
sugested manually exchanging all the style tags with style, wich
seems to be a very tedious job even after I'll understand it.
Many thanks in advanceAdobeDimko,
Sorry for being a little too brief. Here's what I am
suggesting for HTML
that needs to be pasted into eBay:
1. Put all of your styles in an external style sheet
2. Link your CSS in the body (not head) so eBay will see the
styles
3. Make the style sheet a Design-time Style Sheet so DW will
see the styles
The benefit of this is that both eBay and DW will see your
styles, but
they are in a single location, so they are easier to manage,
share, and
edit.
HTH,
Randy

My service provider has recently updated and now I can no longer upload to my site using my antequated but easy to use Dreamweaver Ultra Dev 4.
I am trialling the current Dreamweaver, but of course it is massively different! I've just tried uploading a file, and although it seemed to go OK, no error
messages etc - it's not made it onto my internet site. Any suggestions please?First define your site in DW. Go to Site > New Site or Manage Sites. See Screenshots.
Servers: Enter your remote server's log-in credentials. Root Directory is whatever your hosting provider told you to use. This varies by web host and could be public_html, htdocs, www or none at all. If unsure, contact your host.
Hit the Test button to see if you can connect to your server. If not, click on More Options.

Page that is uploaded to the server looks different from the preview in Dreamweaver browser
Hi, I have a couple of questions. Does anyone happen to know why my homepage looks different in Dreamweaver when I preview in browser then it does when I upload the page onto the server? http://www.iewaterkeeper.org/ I see a join our mailing list button is intact when I preview in browser but is no where to be found when I view the uploaded page from the server. Other weird things have been going on with Dreamweaver today like I wasn't able to absolute position a div tag in it's intended place and all the typography on my homepage looks very blurry in Dreamweaver but looks clearer when it's uploaded to the server. Does anyone know what's going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated. .... Could it be a virus?
That's so weird because I'm looking at the code in Dreamweaver and line 181 has a closing </body>. Here's the code straight from Dreamweaver:

Is Dreamweaver the best web design software to learn for an aspiring web designer?
Hi Everyone,
Perhaps difficult to get an unbiased answer to this in a
Dreamweaver forum but I'm sure most of you considered other web
development software before you went with Dreamweaver. Of course
the answer is not as straight forward as just choosing one piece of
software over another. I understand that there isn't really one
piece of software that ticks every box for the web designer. What I
mean is that there isn't one standalone piece of software that's
best for web design (HTML, CSS etc.), graphics and animation etc.
and that's why we have things such as Adobe Creative Suite. Anyway,
sticking to web design and development in the Dreamweaver sense,
would I be correct to advise someone who wants to work in the field
of web design to use Dreamweaver as their main tool? Particularly,
I would be interested to know if Dreamweaver really is the industry
standard as it's important to consider future job prospects.
I hope you understand what I'm asking.
Thanks, in anticipation for your help.
P.S. Has anyone heard of Enterprise Works?LOL... sure!

Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
* You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
Thank you.
