  • Old Version of Dreamweaver on MacBook Pro

I have been using Dreamweaver MX (ver. 6.1) for web
publishing for years on an iMac G4. I just bought a new MacBook
Pro. I reinstalled the Studio X from the original disks + serial no
on the new computer. (Rather than migrate from the old computer,
lots of stuff I didn't want to take with me.) I put the files for
the site on my old computer on the new one, and found the folder in
Dreamweaver. The program comes up, the local files show up, the
data in the Site setup tests ok for connecting with host, but when
I actually try to show the files on the remote host, the program
crashes. I tried with both a large and a small site.
I realize this is really old software, and I have been
considering various upgrade options, but I just wondered if anyone
    out there recognizes this problem.

  • How well does a Macbook pro and a Macbook air run Xcode, Photoshop and Dreamweaver?

How well does a Macbook pro and a Macbook air run Xcode, Photoshop and Dreamweaver?

MacBook Pro - no problem, it is an extremely popular computer for running that software. Just look at the Adobe demo videos of their products, most of the time you can see a MacBook Pro running the software in their video.
MacBook Air - should be just as good most of the time.
However, if you get involved in heavy Photoshop work like highly stacked layers/masks/channels, 16 bits per channel or up, or merging HDR or panoramas, the MacBook Pro may be better because it can take 16GB RAM while the MacBook Air can take only 8GB RAM.
Also, if you are going to do serious programming in XCode or Dreamweaver, you may find the MacBook Air screen to be too small for all of the code windows and tool palettes that you may want to open and arrange in those programs. The 15" Retina screen of the MacBook Pro will let you spread out your work and do less window switching. The 11/"13" MacBook Air screens are both smaller and non-Retina so not as sharp.
Even Photoshop is nicer on the 15" MacBook Pro because of the extra screen space for the image with less intrusion by the tool palettes.
In short, if you are a casual user the MacBook Air will be great. If you are a professional with a heavy workload the MacBook Pro may be more efficient overall due to the larger screen and higher RAM capacity.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 on Macbook pro

I have read that Dreamweaver on macbook pro had a tendancy to crash a lot. Is this still the case with Dreamweaver CS4 and the new macbook pro?
    Thanks

I regularly run DW, PS, and Flash as well as three or four browsers on my 13" with the CoreDuo 2.26gHz and 4GB. PS will occasionally lag for a few seconds when I'm in a big file, but other than that, no issues to complain about.
And the 13" size is not a big deal because I'm using a 23" HD monitor as my primary desktop anyway.
The 15" and 17" models have a longer battery life by half an hour, but I'm running on wall power most of the time.

  • Dreamweaver CC impossible to use on MacBook Pro 13" ?

Hi, I have a 13" MacBook Pro 2012 (classic, not retina). I installed Dreamweaver CC yesterday to continue working on a site I'm developing (I had it on my Mac desktop but needed to work while away from home).
I found the workspace layout of Dreamweaver CC impossible to use on a modern width site (around 970px wide). The inspectors/windows on the right hand side of the page are just too wide. I use a vertical split view with code and design. Has anyone found a good way to work on a 13" laptop with Dreamweaver CC? Thankfully I was able to find the download link for CS6 which seems hundreds of times more usable on the laptop but would like to upgrade to the latest software.
My native screen resolution is 1280 x 800.
    Any tips?

You can change the width of the sidebar, but I agree there are things they could do with the design for smaller screens.  I have an older MBP 15" with a 1440x900 display and I feel like I don't have enough room at times.  Mostly my complaint is with the Files Panel because I work with a lot of content management systems with deep file structures.  Nothing you can do, but I don't really think CC is a lot worse than CS6.

  • New MacBook Pro.  Tried to reinstall pre-purchased Dreamweaver and installation failed...three times.  followed directions

trouble re-installing Dreamweaver in brand new MacBook Pro where I cloned it from the previous MacBook Pro.  From Adobe website tried to re-install software and it failed.  Followed all directions.
    help?

    Which ver of DW?
    Which OS?

  • Dreamweaver CS5 on Retina Macbook Pro - When trying to open, nothing happens

When I try to open Dreamweaver CS5 on my new Retina Macbook Pro, nothing happens. It shows the Apple and "Dreamweaver" in the status bar, but no file, window, etc. Also, the launch screen never shows. Eventually, I have to Force Quit, as nothing happens (even when leaving it run for hours)
I have tried the following 'fixes' based on other discussions that I have found with 0 success:
Created a new admin account and tried to open from that
    Reinstalled
    Updated
Ran the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool
    Permission Fix in Disk Utility
Changing permissions on the /User/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver folder
I have also seen some recommendations that I remove/rename the Configuration folder from the en-US folder in the Dreamweaver folder mentioned above. However, I don't even have a en-US folder. Hmm?
I do not have FileVault activated currently, although I will need to eventually, as it is company policy. I am just trying to get it to run first before I turn on FV and troubleshoot that.

Presumably, the folder is empty because Dreamweaver never launches successfully. I was going to suggest reinstalling because you might have a corrupt installation, but it seems as though you have already tried that. I wonder if your installation disk or dmg is corrupt?
There is a dedicated forum for installation issues at http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup?view=discussions. It might be worth asking there. I wish I could be of more help.

I'm trying to install CS4 on my macbook pro 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo OSx 10.5.8
All the apps install EXCEPT for Dreamweaver. I've tried 3 times unloading/loading and Dreamweaver still shows up shaded on the Install Options window. What can I do?

  • Dreamweaver and Master suite on macbook pro

    Hi guys
I currently use Dreamweaver and Fireworks on my p.c laptop. Im quite close to making the transition to putting Adobe Master Suite onto my macbook pro.
Can anyone tell me what Dreamweaver etc are like on the mac. Is it pretty much the same, are the features as readily available, does it run as well (cpu etc)
My macbook pro only has 2gb memory and the processor is intel core duo 2.16ghz
Before I do it just wanted some views from people whether I should or not

Yeh Ive heard alot about the cpu usage today, sometimes as much as 80%.
I'm gonna try out on a friends macbook pro first who has the creative suite then make my decision.
To be honest though I think Ill probably go for the windows version as it seems alot more flexible, as Ive today learned how unflexible macbook pro's are when wanting to upgrade the hardware in any way.
    Thanks David
    UPDATE
Just noticed that the system requirements for cs5 is OSX 10.5 or higher. My macbook pro is an old and is only running on 10.4.11.
Looks like Ill have to upgrade the mac software first anyway. Why I ever bought this mac Ill never know by the looks of things

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Crashes Upon Launch MacBook Pro

Dreamweaver CS4 keeps crashing upon launch on my MacBook Pro. I deleted preferences but still crashing.

    SnakEyez02 wrote:
Are you receiving any error upon crashing?  If so, what?
Also do you have the suite or just DW?  If you have the suite you can de-activate all apps in the suite by opening another CS application and then re-install DW.
    SnakEyez02,
    I have the Suite.
    The message I get:
"The application Dreamweaver quit unexpectedly. Mac OSX and other applications are not affected..."
Sigh! Seems I remember having to reinstall everything in the past. I was trying to get some work done today so I can start another job on Monday. Not sure I have time to do all this. I might just launch DWCS3 on the MBP, or go and use my G5 instead.
Thank you for responding. Just not what I hoped to hear.

  • I am a Communications student with my major in journalism and Broadcasting. Should i get a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro?

I am a university student and I currently use a Windows computer but I think it's time for a Mac upgrade. I'll be using it for writing lots of word documents and powerpoints, LOTS of web surfing espescially with many tabs and watching shows from my external hardrive. I'll be using some Adobe programs like Dreamweaver, Photoshop or Flash. I'll need to install the Windows OS into the laptop as well for my work. I'm also a light gamer. Mostly for the Dragon Age but that's not important. Portability, convenience and battery life is very important. I would hate to carry around a heavy laptop everyday.
I'm aiming for the either the 256GB, 13inch MacBook Air or the 13inch MacBook Pro. I'm not sure if I need such a high peformance laptop like the Pro but i'm also unsure if the Air is up for the job. The only reason why im hesitant to get the Pro is because it's very expensive and it's too heavy, Which one do you think i should get?

Macbook Pro 13-inch will do fine.
If you prefer a lightweight computer, Macbook Air 13-inch is the right choice
Consider 8-16GB RAM and 256 GB SSD.
    Best.

  • Macbook Pro issue - advice needed

    Hi!
I have mid 2010 15” i5 2.53 Macbook Pro that has quite famous Nvidia 330m problem, it works fine when it uses integrated graphics, however it randomly crashes after switching to Nvidia.
I am a graphic designer so I need to use adobe programs such as Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects etc, also I need reliable machine, it’s really annoying when I sometimes lose something I’ve been working for hours after computer crashes (I tend to save everything after each modification but sometimes I won’t be able to when it crashes randomly).
It worked alright before while using Snow Leopard, issue started after upgrading to Mountain Lion, then, even after downgrading to Snow Leopard, problem stayed. I tried to get apple to fix it free of charge under their policy for this problem last year however they said that macbook showed signs of liquid damage so they wouldn’t, they quoted me for about £670 for total repair - I didn’t agree on this.
I’ve been looking for some ways to fix it, I upgraded to Mavericks recently and after that macbook was crashing pretty much all the time after few seconds after start up when I was trying to do something on it, when I was using Snow Leopard it tend to crash only 1-4 times a day.
I’ve found the idea with the blanket forcing it to heat, I have removed battery, plugged AC adapter, positioned turned on mac upside down on the edge of my bed (open lid) covered it with blankets and left it for an hour. To my surprise, after it cooled down it was working much better even tho I was using mavericks, it didn’t crash at all for about 2 hours, then crashed once, then it kept going for even 6 hours without crashing which was really good considering previous situations. The problem is, it still crushes sometimes, and I can’t risk losing my work.
There are still some ways I haven’t try yet like:
Putting logic board into the oven for 7 mins
Trying to heat logic board (Nvidia chipset) with hair dryer
Also, there is a repair centre on ebay that fixes this exact issue, apparently permanently by fitting brand new updated GPU Chipset that has been purposely produced by Nvidia to replace the Faulty GPU Chipset - this will cost about £180 including return delivery, and they provide 6 months warranty - there was over 100 happy customers with this problem and it seems like they fixed it
I would prefer to spend as little money as possible, and I have no problem with the speed of my macbook pro, 4gb Ram (currently using 2GB as one stick got broken so it does work slowish, but I will buy another 2gb stick on Monday - or should I get 4gb making overall ram 6gb? will this make much difference?) also, I was thinking about updating HDD to either Crucial 256GB SSD or Seagate Momentus XT 500 and then use my currently installed HDD as external HDD as I have planned to buy external HDD anyway.
Of course, getting the machine professionally fixed and upgrading it would cost me less than spending loads of money (over £1000) for brand new 13” retina mac, I also like 15” screen, even tho 13” retina has higher resolution, build in DVD is beneficial as well.
What do you guys think? Any experience with similar problem? If so what was your solution? BTW, what was the highest amount of money you've ever spent to fix your macbook pro that was out of warranty?
    Sorry for quite long post
    Thanks!

Yes, they specifically fix Nvidia 330m problem, they state that the only true solution is to remove old chipset with their brand new chipset that has been apparently released by Nvidia as an update for this issue, this is exactly what they say:
    What faults can we fix?
We can fix graphic/display issues relating to the 15" / 17" Nvidia 330M models in 2010 Models. These are fixed using the appropriate professional equipment.
Brand New Chipset Repair - (only option we recommend for Macbook Pro Nvidia Models) With this procedure we re-fit a Brand New Nvidia GPU Chipset reballed in leaded solder.
**** Special Offer - £10 off making the Brand New Chipset Repair £169 + Post! ****
They also provide photos of certain logic board (including photo of serial number) with old chip, chip removed and new chip installed as a proff.
    Thanks!

I use this laptop as my home computer but do graphic design on it quite frequently for side jobs but I'm still on OS 10.6.8. My adobe Creative suite is a (not so legal) CS5 that had to be configured to work on this machine.
At work I am about to upgrade my 2010 iMac to the newest OS version and install the new Adobe Creative Cloud suite on it in June. I would like to get the full version, so I can run it on my MacBook too (you are allowed to run two computers with the software purchase) but will this even be possible with my older machine? I can't afford a new one...it doesn't even feel that old.
Also, if it IS possible, then how would I go about uninstalling my CS5? There was quite a bit of tinkering done - not by me so I don't know exactly what - to make it work.
So what should I do? Should I take in to a Mac specialist? Thanks in advance.

  • MacBook Pro Mid-2010 Intermittent Shut-Down and Fuzzy Screen

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro Mid-2010 has been having some problems recently. Hope someone will be able to help me with this. Below are the symptoms that has been showing.
    Symptoms:
    1. Intermittent Shutdown
    2. Screen going fuzzy (when I give it a slight tap it will be fine but everything just hangs)
    3. 3 beep sound
    4. Can't start up (The sleep light will just stay on but nothing appears. I have to force shutdown and try starting it again.)
I have recently done a clean install of Yosemite but the problem is still occuring.
I also took it down to Singapore Apple Service Centre to try to get the problem fixed. But the initial tests shows that all the components in the Mac is working fine. I will need to pay for a full test as my Mac is out of warranty hence I did not send it in.
Below is a copy of the recent log after it shut down by itself.
Appreciate if someone can help me with this!
    Thank you!

I just had the same problem! Just installed Mavericks a couple of days ago but everything was running perfectly till just a couple of minutes ago watching netflix and working on Dreamweaver my macbook just shutdown. I had to Turn it back on and in the first try it shutdown immediatelly again, then i tried for second time and as soon as i got back into my account a bunch of programs start sending erros as my clock was set to a different date. My battery seems to be fine, i even check the report in the system preferences, it had 50% of battery and was plugged in so i am guessing that is not the problem.
    Here the report:
    Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh):          3356
      Fully Charged:          No
      Charging:          Yes
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh):          6626
      Health Information:
      Cycle Count:          367
      Condition:          Normal
I had to have my motherboard replaced last year as my macbook its a 15 inch Mid 2010 so i took it to Mac Store.. they didnt charge me for anything as it is a problem that Apple acknowledge the problem was in their side. I am just hoping i dont have to deal with this again.
