Dreamweaver or muse

Hi
I've used dreamweaver for years up to CS3, we now have CC so also have muse. I'm looking at the tutorials and am wondering should I move from DW to Muse?
I only do basic sites, but after looking at Muse, it can create the Navigate links for me and seems to be free in terms of dragging and dropping rather than having to use tables.
Has anyone here moved to Muse, prefer Muse or are sticking to DW?
Thanks
Lee

Hello Lee,
some months ago we discussed about this question here in the forum. Unfortunately I didn't keep this thread. But here is a YouTube Video, where Janine Warner "outlines the difference between Dreamweaver CC": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHbFLwutUGk.
In my eyes the important differences are (brought in the Video):
... and so I for my part prefer DW CC.

Is there anyway to explrt from dreamweaver to muse or otherwise upload to Adobe Hosting services?
    Cheers

Your post has 2 questions in one.
Exporting from DW to Muse - No, not as far as I know. Why would you want to do that anyway?! DW is a professional code-rendering application. Muse is more comfortable for 'designers' who dont want to learn code but build simple websites

  • Adobe Dreamweaver and Muse

Hello so I have designed my whole site using Dreamweaver and Business Catalyst and now I want to change it into a mobile site and so some finishing touches on the site. Is there a way to bring in the site from BC's back end to download into Adobe muse?
What is the best way to start designing your mobile site? I have started it in Dreamweaver and I am having a hard time getting the size correct. That's why I thought it may be easier to edit the mobile design in Muse a lot better.

Dreamweaver is NOT the same as Muse.   These are two very different products aimed at different users.
Muse is consumer level software for hobbyists and non-coders with little web experience.   Dreamweaver is pro-level software for experienced web developers. Coding skills are essential.  More than likely, your web designer is using Dreamweaver.
Muse is only available by subscription to the Creative Cloud.  Dreamweaver can be obtained on a single license, in a product suite or by subscription to the Creative Cloud.  See Product Comparison Guide below for details:

  • I now have two copies of Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Muse. One set is CC and the other is 2014 - Why?.  Can I remove the CC version?

I have just updated a 2014 version of Muse. It is now Muse2014.1 Release. beneath that is: 2014.1.0.375. CL785695.
My query is it this: Is this the 13th August update that I have just installed?  What harm would occur if I ununstalled the Muse CC version. I also have CC versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Muse. I assume it is necessary to have both (?) otherwise wouldn't Adobe have removed the obsolete versions when the updates were uploaded?

DON'T! I removed the older versions and all hell broke loose.  Edit Original type commands stopped working and I had to go in and manually tell windows which program should open an already existing photoshop file, for example...bridge still doesn't seem to recognize PS2014 and I have to open photoshop files from photoshop...Kinda ridiculous if you ask me.

  • Are people using or incorparating dreamweaver with muse?

Are people using or incorparating dreamweaver with muse?

While there is no direct integration between Muse and Dreamweaver, they can be used together. From within Muse, you can both import and export HTML. So you can import HTML created in Dreamweaver, or export HTML to be opened and edited in Dreamweaver.
The only speedbump is that the code generated by Muse tends to be a bit messy. As a Muse software engineer puts it,
You can output HTML code from Muse at any time, so if you chose to edit it with Dreamweaver that is possible, though we don't optimize our code for human-readability - we instead focus on performance, SEO, accessibility and compatibility.

  • Cloud Dreamweaver and Muse Special Fonts

Did adobe bring those special fonts found in Muse to Dreamweaver yet?

No. Muse and Dreamweaver are like oil and water. They don't mix.

  • Dreamweaver or muse question

    Greetings to the adobe forum
Id like to ask a general question regarding these two applications why one over the other but touching the surface of the question.
For example I am a graphic designer, who gets asked a lot not to mention most the times”do you do websites? I’ll need one for my band, company, personal site etc.
so I pretty much just use, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign to do my graphic designs. So I know that Dreamweaver has coding to learn and html ,php and there is a running show behind the scene of the program. So since I’m more of a designer-layout guy that i cannot relate to code since its a new beginning for me,would the new muse live up to its expectations of doing basic website designing?
I’ve seen another program called xara pro, design pro which seem like muse. Can muse for example support 3d style photo gallery and flash animations and all that sort of up to standards graphics which are on the web these days?
    Thank you in advance.

3-D graphics on the web?  Nope.  Web browsers haven't caught up with this technology yet.
Flash animations?  While you can use other products like Flash Pro to create Flash animations, you probably don't want to because the world's most popular web devices (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android, etc...) don't support Flash.  Flash is dead on the web.
If you're going to sell yourself as a web designer, you should learn some basic skills.  At a bare minimum, web design theory, HTML, CSS, JavaScript & Search Engine Optimization.
If you want to build animations, look at Adobe Edge Animate which outputs to HTML5, CSS3 & JavaScript.  jQuery is also a useful scripting language to know as it can help you build everything from interactive slideshows & menus to apps.
Later on, if you decide to take this to the next level, you can learn server-side programming & databases (ASP/MsSql or PHP/MySql).  My suggestion at this point would be to sub-contract out any programming you need to an experienced web developer.
MU is consumer level software aimed at non-coders.  It's fine for quick basic amateur & hobby sites but I wouldn't use it for professional or commercial web sites. It's too limited in what it can do.  Sites built with it are very difficult to edit in anything other than MU.
DW is pro-level software for serious web designers and developers.  If this is the path you intend to take in your career, skip MU and learn to use DW.

  • Contact Form in DreamWeaver or  Muse Help ?

  • Muse to Dreamweaver (Social Network capabilities in muse?)

    Hello,
Alright I'm a beginner here with these products so I apologize if any of these questions or statements are a little slow. So right now I'm trying to create my first website, using whatever software is needed (I just purchased creative cloud membership). I've used Muse to create a few websites just kind of learning the ropes. So now I'm hoping to kind of dive in by creating a "social networking," site. Apparently this is a lot more work than I thought it would be. I've used photoshop to create images and Muse to put the site together, then exported the HTML from muse to dreamweaver and this is all working fine. (site is connected and working on the internet). Now for my questions,
1.) First off I need to ask, is it possible to create a social networking type site entirely with muse (much like facebook, upload photos, have your own profile, news feed, etc)? Pretty confident the answer is no but ideally that'd be what I'd like to use just so much easier.
2.) I've cruised through a lot of tutorials with no luck. I really would like a good book that can kind of walk me through this whole process, (social networking design via dreamweaver or muse or whatever) so that I can learn via this way. Anyone know of any good starter walkthrough books or tutorials I should watch? I've watched the create your first website with Adobe and I understand that stuff but the whole having users, and managing their data is throwing a wrench in my progress.
    Thanks for any help

    I'm trying to wrap a class/link around a custom button I created so that it will replace a floating 3rd party button such as;
    <a class="ethor_widget_button"href="#"><img src="My_Order_Button.GIF" alt="Online Ordering"></a>
and when clicked, will trigger the main scripting code that I place in the page properties head section. Note: that the 3rd party originally requested that the main script be placed somewhere near the bottom of the <body></body> however muse does not seem to allow access to this area.
I did past the main script in the head and it sort of to works when previewed. I won't know for sure until I provide the class/link around the custom button and publish the site to BC.
I'm trying to open a 3rd party food item selection and ordering process skin over the site pages when the custom "Order" button is clicked.

  • Can you edit muse cc in dreamweaver

    Hi
Can you edit Muse CC in Dreamweaver ?

This question is really best on the Dreamweaver or Muse forums but here is the answer I found:
"Muse is not intended to be a code generation hand-off tool for downstream editing. We recommend you do all of your site editing in Muse, rather than exporting the site from Muse and editing the code elsewhere. By staying within Muse, you can continue to use the full functionality of Muse to update your site. As soon as you move to altering the output of Muse, there's no going back (unless you're willing to re-make your changes each time you export from Muse). The HTML code output from Muse is not optimized for manual editing."
Form this forum post: Re: Muse to Dreamweaver?
So while it may be possible it is not recommended.
    Hope that helps.

  • Ive been told to rebuild my site, should I use Muse or Dreamweaver?

    Hi everyone,
Just recently I had someone perform an audit on my website and the results that came back weren't good. It seems I have all sorts of problems with my site, mainly from an SEO perspective. The guys that did the audit said they could rebuild it for me, but the quote was very expensive. I'm thinking I might do it myself to try and save some money. A good friend of mine suggested I use Muse, but before he mentioned it, I'd never heard of it.
I've only ever designed my sites using Dreamweaver, and am very confident using it.
So my question is, should I use Dreamweaver or Muse? Which is better? Is there really much difference?
Oh, and here's my site if you have any suggestions. Muted | gear
    Thanks.

I found your site alittle too big on images and low on manu bars but nothing that needs a major redo... you don't ask for credit cards.
As for the other thread, yes muse is not a dreamweaver replacement but it also has improved a lot in the last two years so some of that post is out dated.
I'd watch the Muse demo veds and make a test page or two to get your basic design then you can always load that into dreamweaver to fine tune the code... any thing made with Muse is happy to be opened in Dreamwever so worse case is you finish with a site that cann't stay with Muse.
p.s I only looked at 10 or so pages but didn't see anything Muse can't make on it's own, any way.

  • Best Adobe website program to use with Creative Cloud - BC, Muse or Dreamweaver?

Hi - I'm new to Adobe Creative Cloud and I'm planning on having at least a couple of my websites designed/hosted using ACC. My question is, I noticed that Adobe has three different pieces of software for website production. I'm aware of Dreamweaver, but I'm willing to give either Muse or Business Catalyst a try since I wouldn't have to do any coding. Does anyone have a preference either way as far as website design w/Adobe Creative Cloud goes? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Depends entirely on your preference.
I avoid BC's interface like the plague because it has a tendency to "correct" my code in ways that I don't want (like adding html line breaks into javascript and commenting out things.) Between Dreamweaver or Muse I like DW because at least it gives you more control over your code.
But I use notepad++ and i'm perfectly happy. You don't have to use Adobe software to work with BC if you don't want to, though obviously they would prefer it if you did

  • Workflow: Fireworks + Dreamweaver + Muse?

Are there any recommendations, either from Adobe or from user experience, on workflow for those of us who at times want to use Fireworks with Muse or Dreamweaver with Muse?
I had understood from presentations that this is not specifically supported by Muse, but then participants / demonstrators showed projects where they used DW and FW with Muse.
Example? I have projects that a client wants template elements that are raster - cannot be rendered by even the most advanced CSS, etc. This needs to be 'cut' in FW. My typical workflow with something like this would be to render in photoshop, cut in FW and then produce / edit code in DW. There are items that render very well in Muse. Why not bring a project like this into Muse as a last step?
    Any recommendations or advice?
Any tutorials or links that go with your advice?

Please check this small video of how fireworks can be sync with Adobe Muse, http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/muse-roundtrip-editing-in-photoshop-and-firewo rks/
You also have an option of placing a photoshop button in Muse, which detects the layers in the photoshop file to be used for different states.
If you have a different suggestion I recommend that you add it to the ideas section over here, http://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas
