Dreamweaver querry image rotator vs flash animated slideshow

Hello
I am working to create a website.
On the header I dont know what is better to use a dreamweaver querry image rotaror or is it better to import
a flash slideshow?

jQuery is a widely used JavaScript library with lots of cutting edge plug-ins.
http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/
Almost anything you can do with Flash you can do equally well with jQuery.  And it is supported by most web devices (including Smartphones and iDevices).
Flash is not as well supported by mobile devices and it carries quite a bit more bandwidth.

  • Need a little help with a Flash animation slideshow in Dw

    Hi:
    I'm a student that is creating a website for a local business.  One of the things I want is a Flash based slideshow that does a rolling display of 3 or 4 images within a CSS container of my page.  One of our lessons came with a slideshow .swf file and a .xml file which dictates the location of the images to be used.
    I am having trouble with the alignment of the images within the slideshow viewer.  They are not filling the pane as evidenced here:
    http://uweb.und.nodak.edu/~Brian.Gale/AandS_website/index.html
    I resized the flash app pane to 350 x 400 px using the properties inspector and I know that my CSS container is large enough to hold this.
    All of my images have been resized to 350x400 as well.  I've tried using the properties inspector in Dw for the Flash app to adjust the scale and alignment to no avail.  Its as if the app is calling up the image in the wrong place (the bottom is getting clipped off) and its not filling the viewer.  Not sure what code you need to see or how to post it, please let me know.
    Thanks!

    Brian,
    I just pulled your slideshow.swf and decompiled it.
    The swf document is 432 x 288.  First off that's landscape and you are looking for350 x400 which is portrait.
    By changing the size in DW you did not alter the size of the original .swf container, you simply stretched/squeezed the way it would display.
    If you had the images embedded in the .swf they would be distorted.
    By calling them from an .xml they are not affected by the DW .swf size change but the anchor is not correct.
    I'll email you a properly sized swf.

  • Image quality in Flash animations

    I notice when I run animations in the flash player, the image quality because very pixelated and blocky when I enlarge the animation.
    I need my website to scale to different screen resolutions, so this can be a problem. Is there any way to make images smoother when the flash file is enlarged beyond it's native resolution?
    I really need to know since my website has to scale to a LOT of resolutions.

    Dont think there is any concrete solution for this,
    Try using bitmap smoothing, it might help till some level.
    Another workaround would be, use large size images and scale them down to your current native resolution (size). This might help if you find an intermediate resolution and use imageof that resolution.

  • Images rotated when added in slideshow widget

    When using a slideshow widget in Muse, why are added images
    displayed 90 or 180 degrees from the original image?

    Thanks for the quiuck reply - it is really appreciated.  Further investigation resulted in discovering that only photos from my iPad are being rotated.  Still don't know why.  All other photos are OK.  The iPad photos took a circuitous route getting to my computer - but don't know why that should matter.  Guess I'll have to delve into the HTML code to see if I can find the problem.  If not, I may need further help!

    Here's my site: http://www.barristerdigital.com/
    My flash animation has dropped down out of the blue bar I set up and I'm not sure why. I'm open and grateful for any suggestions.

  • Get border when resizing flash anim in dreamweaver

    Hello, I'm needing some help , I'm not sure weather its something i'm doing in dreamweaver or weather I need to export the flash anim with the document properties just a little bit smaller than the flash anim when exporting when in theory shouldn't have to do?
    the problem I'm having is I export a flash anim out of flash I make sure the document properties and the flash anim line up so theres no visible boarder when exiting.
    when I'm at the button stage and drag onto the stage to be able to export, ( sometimes I find that the flash border - say if my anim is 220 by 185 . when i click on it (dragged button with movie inside from libarary to stage)
    the stage - as I am told I can't export a flash anim with an alpha white off the flash stage I have to make the stage the same size as the button -
    So i make the stage size 220 by 185 when I'm dragging the button to line up to the stage I find sometimes its off?
    Is there a better way to export a flash anim as it is without having to change stage properties then dragging the button to fit the stage then get url options ect.
    anyways. I am finding that I am having to make the stage size (in flash ) a few extra pixels smaller than the box button 220 by 185 so what i'm doing is making the stage say 218 by 183 to then draggin the button inbetween the lines on the doccument border in flash. then exporting.
    I find if i Don't do this sometimes in dreamweaver, when I open dreamweaver instert app div then import swf into the app dif then resize the swf I get a boarder.
    But even then I find sometimes if i do an app div then insert media swf and resize the swf i get a border, say if i make the boarder properties in flash red.
    sometimes I get a red boarder.
    but on other pages say i have a about page I resized it its fine then on another page import app dive then impor the exact same swf file resize it it suddenly gets a boarder (i'm testing using red backround in flash when exporting as a movie.
    why do sometimes I get a boarder around swf in an app div when importing into dreamweaver.
    thanks kindly

    I read this twice and still don't quite know what you're asking.  Flash questions are best posted in the Flash forum.
    Animations used in Web pages should be sized appropriately before you bring them into Dreamweaver.   Same goes for static images.  If you need a 200px wide banner, design it at 200px wide.
    As for APDivs, honestly don't know why you would need one. A regular CSS division (no positioning) is all that's required for 98% of layouts.   http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
    For answers to layout questions, we need a link to your test page.

  • Place fixed flash animation in Dreamweaver

    Hi All,
    I am a complete beginner with Dreamweaver, and having great
    problems fixing the size of a flash animation I'm playing as an
    intro. I have managed to get the animation in and it centred, but
    when I tested it on another computer I noticed it had stretched and
    for some reason it was possible to minimise the animation by using
    the + and - signs whilst in the browser window. How can I prevent
    this from happening, so no matter what machine you view from it
    keeps the size and position the same.
    Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Hi
    You will have to place your code for the flash file inside the code for the picture frame. If you have used the picture frame as a background image then position your flash file using a combination of  css rules as required.
    Another way (if you have flash pro), is to use the picture frame as a skin for your flash file.

  • How to add an Animated Slideshow created in Photoshop CS6 to an HTML file in Dreamweaver CS6?

    What steps do I need to follow to complete this task?  I've already completed an animated slideshow in Photoshop CS6, and saved it for the Web, which produced an HTML file and a .GIF.  All I need to know now is how to insert the slideshow into my Dreamweaver CS6 HTML file.  Your input would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    It's usually best if you use Photoshop for images only.  The html code generated by graphics apps is not too swift for use on the web.
    In DW, insert the animated gif into your HTML page with the Insert panel.

  • How to link flash animations in dreamweaver 8

    Hey everyone i have been trying to learn dreamweaver 8, flash
    8, and others in a short time. My question is,
    I am trying to create a website in dreamweaver 8 but i am
    having trouble making a link to another page of the site out of the
    flash animation once it's done. I can't find a option for that
    anywhere, I was able to link the table in which the animation sits
    but it does nothing. For now i just have the word ENTER below the
    animation so the rest of the site can be viewed.
    here's the link to the site where the animation first page is
    www.fatcatzcreative.com
    I have spent days trying to figure this out and being the
    typical man i have finally broken down and am askin for help.
    Thanks in advance to all.

    HTML cannot link Flash.
    If you want links in Flash, you will have to edit the Flash
    file's
    actionscript and add the links there.

  • Help w/ image rotation in slideshow

    Hi All,
    I've created a bit of a problem for myself. A client provided a folder full of images to add to a slideshow in DVDSP. I added all of the images as normal, then I noticed that a bunch of them were taken in portrait mode and needed to be rotated. I didn't see any way within DVDSP to rotate them, so I opened up the folder in Adobe Bridge and quickly rotated them. I went back and opened the project in DVDSP and the images did not rotate. I trashed the MPEG and PAR folders and reopened the project and the images still did not rotate. So I figured that DVDSP doesn't recognize whatever tag Bridge adds to the file to indicate that the image should be viewed rotated. Next, I thought that I would just have to open each one in Photoshop and rotate them and then re-save. The only problem is that when opening them in PS, the images are already rotated. So now I don't know what to do. I can't rotate them again in PS and DVDSP doesn't acknowledge that the images are rotated.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Actually, Bridge does more than just rotating the thumbnails. It apparently embeds some code in the metadata that instructs programs to open the image with rotation applied. When opening the image in PS, Preview, GraphicConverter, and a few other programs the image opens with the rotation from Bridge applied.
    In any event, I have an old PS action I created years ago that prepares images for slideshows. It fits them into a 720x480 frame and then applies any needed background extension and finally converts the image to a .9 pixel ratio image. I did that to all of the modified images from Bridge and it worked fine.
    If Apple ever bothers to update DVDSP again they should really address the inability of the program to handle this type of situation.

  • Centre flash animation into dreamweaver

    You'll probably need to spend time learning how to create things in Flash--maybe try lynda.com.  Flash can be used for the animation and mouse interaction revealing text.  Once you are able to create the animation in Flash, you can have Flash publish both the swf file, which is what goes into the web page, and an html file.  You can copy the code from the Flash html file into the Dreamweaver file wherever you intend the Flash file to be inserted.

  • Flash XML Slideshow - Load next image after set amount of time

    I'm creating flash xml slideshow and have managed to get the
    images to load from the XML file. What I want to do now is have a
    timer that loads the next image after x amount of seconds. Any help
    would be great.
    Code sample
    stop();
    // Create XML Object
    slideshow_xml = new XML();
    // Start slideshow once XML file is loaded
    slideshow_xml.onLoad = startSlideShow;
    //Load XML file
    slideshow_xml.load("slideshow.xml");
    //Ignore Whitespace in XML Document
    slideshow_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    //Create Function for Slideshow - Shows first slide and
    initalises variables
    function startSlideShow(success) {
    if (success == true) {
    rootNode = slideshow_xml.firstChild;
    totalSlides = rootNode.childNodes.length;
    firstSlideNode = rootNode.firstChild;
    currentSlideNode = firstSlideNode;
    currentIndex = 1;
    updateSlide(firstSlideNode);
    function updateSlide(newSlideNode) {
    imagePath = newSlideNode.attributes.jpgURL;
    slideText = newSlideNode.firstChild.nodeValue;
    loadMovie(imagePath, loadTarget);
    }

    Ok I've managed to get most of this working including the
    alpha fade in. I haven't been able to get the images to fade out
    (fadeImageOut function) so if someone can tell me what I'm doing
    wrong. Also should I have some sort of preloader function for when
    each image loads? and if so any pointers, then it should be done
    except that I might need to add some text for each image in the XML
    file.
    stop();
    var container:MovieClip =
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("container", this.getNextHighestDepth());
    var loader1:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("loader1",
    this.getNextHighestDepth());
    var loader2:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("loader2",
    this.getNextHighestDepth());
    container._x = 0;
    container._y = 0;
    function fadeImageIn() {
    var fadeTween = new mx.transitions.Tween(loader1, "_alpha",
    mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeIn, 0, 100, 1.5, true);
    loadmovie(imagePath, loader1);
    function fadeImageOut(loader1) {
    var fadeTween = new mx.transitions.Tween(loader1, "_alpha",
    mx.transitions.easing.Regular.easeOut, 100, 0, 1.5, true);
    unloadMovie(loader1);
    // Create XML Object
    slideshow_xml = new XML();
    // Find out what this does
    slideshow_xml.onLoad = startSlideShow;
    //Load XML file
    slideshow_xml.load("slideshow.xml");
    //Ignore Whitespace in XML Document
    slideshow_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    //Create Function for Slideshow - Shows first slide and
    initalises variables
    function startSlideShow(success) {
    if (success == true) {
    rootNode = slideshow_xml.firstChild;
    totalSlides = rootNode.childNodes.length;
    firstSlideNode = rootNode.firstChild;
    currentSlideNode = firstSlideNode;
    currentIndex = 1;
    updateSlide(firstSlideNode);
    function updateSlide(newSlideNode) {
    imagePath = newSlideNode.attributes.jpgURL;
    slideText = newSlideNode.firstChild.nodeValue;
    //loadMovie(imagePath, loader1);
    fadeImageIn();
    function nextSlideImage() {
    nextSlideNode = currentSlideNode.nextSibling;
    if (nextSlideNode == null) {

  • Image rotator problem on Dreamweaver site

    Hi I am running into a problem on my main index site. If you look at the image rotator on the very top of the page http://oldfortestates.com/index.htm via firefox (only that browser) you will see that there is a flashback of some of the images before it moves to the next image. I tried everything and can't figure it out. However if you look at the page http://oldfortestates.com/index_test.htm where I took out the info of the body of the page you will see that it is working fine and there is no flashback, however as soon as I include the information in the body the images once again do the same flashback. I need to find a way to have the full page without the flashback. Any assistance would be appreciated.

    I realized that it is the exfeat addon which is causing the problem below. Once it is on the page it interfers with the image rotator to the top. There must be a way for it to work without the interference.

  • Adding Flash animation to dreamweaver

    Hi,
    I've created a Flash animation as the first thing to show on

    How can someone that doesn't have Flash installed use your

    You would have to use Flash to put those links on the page.
