Dreamweaver sharing violation on save after previewing file

Hi all,
First, have I mentioned that I LOATH Windows Vista with every
fiber of my
being!
On to the problem at hand.
I'm in Dreamweaver and I edit, then preview a file. Next I
edit it some more
and then try to save it - but cant. I get an alert stating
that there is a
sharing violation because the file is being used by another
program, and it
just stays this way, even if I shut the browser down. even if
I restart
Dreamweaver it's still locked. The only way I can get it to
let go is to
totally reboot!
Has anyone else run into this? Found a solution?
Thanks for your help.

I haven't Larry, but let me just double-down on your Vista

  • Dreamweaver Sharing Violations

Can anyone help? I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and all was good
in the past. I was able to make changes, save and preview all day
long, that is until I started using CF8. I just installed
ColdFusion 8 Dev Server on my local system. Now, every time after I
save and preview, I am locked out of my document with a Sharing
    Violation. ???
I can get rid of the sharing violation error by restarting my
server or by using ccollomb's Unlocker program. But that is not
practical when making multiple edits throughout the day. (by the
way, with the Unlocker program, it shows that my file is still in
    use by JRun.exe)
I have searched the discussion forums and the net and have
seen others posting the same problem. Any solutions out there? Can
anyone point me in the right direction? Oh, I've also contacted
Adobe on this matter and they said they've never heard of this
problem and their only suggestion was to move my files to another
    directory (which didn't work).
    Windows XP Professional
    Adobe CS3 Web Standard
    Cold Fusion 8
    working directory: C:/ColdFusion8/wwwroot/
    Thanks.

This was driving me out of my mind, as well. I too was
getting the dreaded "sharing violation" error. Turns out, the
solution is pretty simple. Go into the CF Administrator. Under
Server Settings, go into the Caching section. At the top of the
page, you can enter the "Maximum number of cached templates." Enter
zero, and submit changes. That worked for me.

  • How to remedy sharing violations when saving an AS3 file.

Since installing Flash CS4 (I previously had CS3) I've had a rather annoying problem that is really cutting into my productivity.
If I 'Test Movie' or 'Debug Movie' and then switch back to my actionscripting window and make changes and then try to save without closing the movie, I receive a sharing violation notification.   I then have to close the movie and wait for at least 3 seconds after doing so before a save will succeed without giving a sharing violation.
I know that doesn't sound like much, but when you do it hundreds of times in a day it really eats up time and interrupts workflow.
Anybody know how to remedy this?  I've tried creating fresh AS3 files in fresh locations but to no avail.  I can find no similar references to it using google.
Thanks in advance.   Here's the dialog:

As there's not been a single response, is there any way to pass my question on to support proper, and get the answer added to the knowlege base?  This is rather important I think.

  • Dreamweaver 4 no longer working after downloading files created with MX

I downloaded files that were created with Dreamweaver MX to
my pc in order to update them for a new client. I've been using
Dreamweaver 4 and now I cannot even open Dreamweaver 4. Luckily I
also have Dreamweaver 8 installed and can view all the files in the
site from there, but what would have caused Version 4 to generate
errors upon trying to open? It starts to open and I can see that
the properties panel is disabled and then I get the error message:
"Dreamweaver has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." I've sent the error report to
    MS...
Any thoughts other than to use Version 8 from now on? Since
I'm a designer, I do have quite a few client sites that I'd have to
reset the remote site info for...
    Thanks.

a guess- you also downloaded the .mno design note files.
There should be a technote on this-
It talks about contribute 2, but it's same exact issue with
    MX and newer
Dreamweaver 4 crashes on Contribute 2 sites
    Issue
Dreamweaver 4 crashes whenever it connects to a site that has
    recently been
accessed by Contribute 2.0, 2.01 (Windows) and Dreamweaver MX
    2004.
    Reason
Contribute 2 and Dreamweaver MX 2004 design notes on remote
    server or local
site folder are not compatible with Dreamweaver 4.
    Dreamweaver 4 tries to
read these files and crashes when it cannot.

  • Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 sharing violation with CSS files

I am getting the following error while working with a CSS file in Dreamweaver:
Encountered a sharing violation while accessing:
    c:\<path to file>\css\style.css
I have searched and tried a range of difference fixes - but no fix has worked as yet, and many of the solutions don't apply to my situation. This just keeps occurring when I access certain CSS files.
The CSS files are part of a web app that gets run using a local server - and when the server is running I can save the CSS file a couple of times, then after a few saves (and refreshes of the browser to see my changes) I get this sharing violation and can no longer save changes to the file.
I have installed various locked file inspection apps to find out what is locking the file and to see if I can force it close - but all the apps I have tried report the file as not being used or locked. Therefore none of these apps have enabled me to "unlock" the file to then save changes.
But if I copy and paste the contents into any other editor like Sublime Text 2, Notepad, Notepad++ then I can save the CSS file no worries. When I flick back to Dreamweaver, it prompts me saying "The file has been modified outside Dreamweaver" - so I choose to reload the file and I try and make a change and save it and I am back to encountering a sharing violation again.
If I stop and restart the server (which takes about 2 minutes - so not a viable fix) I can get access to the CSS file in Dreaweaver again, but a few saves and refreshes of the browser and it reports it as locked again. I think Dreamweaver is falsely reporting this violation. Because every other application I have tested (Notepad, Notepad++, Sublime Text 2 - even Microsoft Word!!!) has no issues accessing the file, just Dreamweaver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

Have you tried changing the DW settings to look like this:
You want to remove the Check in/Check out stuff because it is for people working in groups and making changes independently.  Make sure you click on the APPLY button after the changes and perhaps close and restart the DW.
    Good luck.

  • Sharing violation error after closing file

I am creating a text file using the "Write to Spreadsheet File"
vi.  After creating the file, I cannot change the name, or open
the file in XL because I get a "sharing violation" error.
Apparently Labview has not released the file even after closing it.
Only after the main vi quits is the file released for editing by
others.  I have never seen this problem before using the
Spreadsheet VI.  Can anyone provide some help or advice?
    I am running Win2000 SP4.
    Thanks.
    Greg Whaley

    Hi Greg,
I can't reproduce this. I wrote a VI which should have caused this problem, but didn't. I attached it below. Give it a try and see if you have different results, of if something's different in your code that could have caused this.
    Anyone else experienced this?

  • Sharing Violation in Dreamweaver CS4

hi to Every one i have a problem in Dremweaver CS4
when i am saving my html  pages the error message is displaying "Sharing Violation Occured".After  that every time this error occur page can be rename and save.can any one  tell me how to Slove this Problem.
[Personal contact information deleted by moderator]

    Hi,
This is a known issue in CS4 and it's a huge pain in the rear.  One way to reduce this is to not use the preview (F12 ) function but brows directly to the page in your browser to preview it. This doesn't totally get rid of this but it reduces it.  Also, when trying to FTP your files up, and Dreamweaver gives you the "file transfer incomplete" message, have a standard FTP app handy  - it will upload the files with our issue, even though DW can't seem to get it done.
This is a major problem with CS4 - I don't know if it tied in to Vista's insane user security system or what, but I hope that they solve this issue either in an update or at least in the next release.

  • Sharing Violation in DreamWeaver CS6

    Hi there,
I am experiencing a 'sharing violation' message in Dreamweaver CS6 when using a web development tool - Mixture. http://www.mixture.io
Basically, when i try to save files in dreamweaver, whilst mixture is running, I get a message saying:
I can eventually save the file, but only because the original file that i was trying to save gets deleted somehow.
Having looked around google, and these communities, it seems this is a common problem with Dreamweaver.
Anyone have any ideas how to stop these type of sharing violations ? - I am using wamp as a local server for development with apache 2, and php.
    Thank you

    Hi there Harshit,
    Thanks your your help,
I've tried the suggestions in the posts by yourself, and your colleague - unfortunately none have worked:
    removing any temp files
    searching for hidden files
    turning off synchronisation
    recreating cache,
    turning off cache
    turning off indexing on folders
turning off library options in windows explorer.
I still get sharing violation errors - it seems to be a common thread with Dreamweaver. Perhaps it's something that needs to be changed for the windows version.
    Thank you

  • Does the new firefox work when previewing files from Dreamweaver?

I use Dreamweaver CS3. I always preview my pages that I build in Firefox. After just downloading the newest firefox version (3.6.10), I could no longer preview files in Dreamweaver. When I go to preview the file, it just opens a firefox the application, not my webpage within firefox. Any ideas? I even edited my browser list within Firefox, removing Firefox as one of my browser options and replacing it again.

Dreamweaver CS3 doesn't work correctly in any Firefox 3.6 version.
There is a fix for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:
    http://solutions.marketingmedley.com/
There is a $5.00 fee for that Dreamweaver fix. That website and the fix are not associated with Mozilla in any manner. Support for that fix is provided by that that website via email.

  • Preflight keeps saying  "Unable to save the PDF File after post processing"

I'm at a loss how to overcome this. Spent almost a whole day, together with another person, trying to fix it with no success!
I use Adobe pro CC on a PC
I usually receive pdf files from this one client who edits and formats a book in Mac Pages. Up until a few days ago I had no problems converting the client's pdfs into pdf/x3, but the last three versions of the latest file have stumped me.
Just to test, I first just tried to convert the file (33MB), unchanged, to pdf/x3 using the save as other option - message reads  "the document has been saved, however, it could not be converted according to the selected standard profile: convert to PDF/X. Please use preflight with the profile "Convert to PDF/X" in order to identify those properties of the document which prevent it from being compliant to this profile"
if I then choose under Profiles - convert to PDF/X3 - it says no problems found, and appears to have saved the file. If I try to save again as a pdf/x3, just to make sure, it then tells me it's not pdf/x3 compliant
OK - so then I go back to preflight - and choose the standards function - then pdf/x3, then continue with the default colour profile. About halfway through the conversion, at the point of saving the file,  I get the message "unable to save the pdf file after post processing"
So far I've had no luck figuring out what this is.
I then choose the option of "verify compliance of ppdf/x3" - message reads "pdf/x3 version key (GTS_PDFXVersion) missing", and "Trapped key not true or false"
Help!! How can I be sure the file converted / or not?
    kim

Yes I was/am aware of Preflight's inability to play nicely over cloud technologies in certain cases, especially wrt Standards technologies, this will be partially addressed in an upcoming version of Preflight without saying too much.  But the same thing could theoretically have happened if the file was also located on another local network client or server.  Leaving aside the argument that this may violate the Acrobat User Agreement - since purchasing the software, the user agrees to employ its functionality on a single host system and precludes host-client-based scenarios - this simply is not a supported use, meaning the user may not have expectations that it will work at all, if the applications requirements are not observed.  There do exist server-solutions for Preflight files within networks, but Acrobat and by extension Acrobat Preflight is not one of those solutions, and (still) belongs in the single host-based desktop environment.
However most (99.9%) functions within Acrobat <-> acrobat.com file exchange are supported, file syncing across multiple devices will soon be supported, but Standards compliance is still admittedly a problem at this point.  Some testing has been done using 3rd party cloud technologies starting with enterprise-based solutions, such as Office 365, and this will continue to ramp up to include other 3rd party products.
As for the second point, Preflight will usually change the PDF version to be complaint, are you saying that it was unable to do so in this case?  It seems that this error should have popped up during the normal Preflight conversion attempt.  Personally I think solving a workflow problem using the print path is a little bit of a heavy-handed approach, but if helped and the results are acceptable, then that is good.  Since that path is non-existent on a Mac, as one needs to Save as Adobe PDF from the Print dialog's PDF drop-down menu, I am assuming your workflow involved file creation on a Mac, then further processing on Windows using the PDF printer.  I am wondering if a simple resave/Save As... to PDF with overwrite on a Mac, or Preflighting the file using a PDF version compatibility profile before the PDF/X conversion would have helped.  Since there are such a multitude of methods that a PDF can be created, there are also many ways within Acrobat that a user can shape the file to be compatible with the expected workflow, ie, 'many ways to skin a cat', without being morbid.

  • Error accessing a file...sharing violation 32?

DW CS5 is giving me an error report that says, error accessing file...sharing violation 32.
Never had this problem before. Using windows 7.

I recently downloaded cs5 master addition to my desktop (working on laptop). Have not used it yet on desktop. I was told you can use two pcs.
My serial number apparently is a volume number student/teacher additon. I Wonder if I delete dreamweaver from the desktop if that will remove the error.
The error happened just now specifically when I attempted to make a newly created page into the template. Assets (moved template to new page) error on screen.

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5.  It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches.  I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow.  Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

  • Save a attachment file in the shared folder of receiver using ABAP report

    Hi all
Is it possible to save an attachment file in the folder of receiver's desktop using ABAP report?
I am using the standard mail sending code to mail the excel file as an attachment.
Consumer wants that file to be stored automatically in the folder of a shared drive he is using.
    Is it possible?

You can do that via class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES method gui_download. But this is not working in background. Reports running in background cant reach presentation servers.
If you have XI/PI in place you can set up a scenario for that.

Just upgraded to Mavericks. Now I cannot access scans from my hp scanner. After it complete the scans and I try to save as tiff, jpeg or pdf I get a either a grey blur or a message that says cannot save because the file cannot be written to. I did not have any problems before the upgrade. I would greatly appreciate any light shed on this.

Go to the HP site and look for drivers for your scanner. It apparently needs an updated driver to work with Mavericks.
