Dreamweaver 'Structure' category in Insert panel

I've just downloaded Dreamweaver Cs6 CC and can't find the 'structure category' in the Inset panel. Any ideas?

Check to verify you have the most recent update (13.1) by going to Help > About Dreamweaver.
If you have the current version, your menu should appear when you click the sub heading in the Insert window. I think it should say "Common >" by default. The list under that arrow/text should read...
Common
Structure
Media
Form
jQuery Mobile
jQuery UI
Templates Favorites
Hide Labels
If you're not seeing that, could you post a screenshot of what you have?

  • I can't find the Layout Category in Insert Panel???

    How do I find it? I'm a beginner so I'm kind of new to Dreamweaver. I'm trying to follow a tutorial but I can't find the layout category to "Draw AP Div."

    APDivs have been removed from DWCC.
    It looks like you are trying to use a tutorial that was designed for a previous version of DW. You can still use position:absolute in your css to create the same kinds of containers as the old APDiv item, you just have to add it in manually.
    APDivs (<div> tags with position:absolute in their css) were never designed to be used for the layout of an entire site (no matter what the marketing guys at Adobe said), they do have their uses which are valid and necessary, but primary layout is not one of them. 90%+ of the time that position:absolute is used in a site, static positioning (default) with floats, margins and padding would have been a better choice.
    I would suggest getting a handle on html and css before you run tutorials for DW. Dreamweaver really requires you understand the basics of web design to get the most out of it. Try out the html and css tutorials at http://www.w3schools.com as a decent starting point.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Insert Panel Help

    I am trying the 30 day Dreamweaver CS6 Creative Cloud and would like to know how to get the Text Bar in the Insert Panel. I currently have the following in my insert panel.
    Common
    Structure
    Media
    Form
    jQuery Mobile
    jQuery UI
    Templates
    Favorites
    I am new to Dreamweaver so any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

    If you have that set-up in the Insert panel, you're using Dreamweaver CC (version 13), not Dreamweaver CS6 (version 12).
    The Text category was removed from the Insert panel in Dreamweaver CC because it duplicated features that were available elsewhere. If you're looking for special characters, they're now at the bottom of the Common category in the Insert panel.

  • Unable to draw AP Div from Insert Panel as described in Tutorial "Classroom: Basic Site Layout and Navigation in Dreamweaver"

    I tried to perform the draw AP Div from the Insert Panel as described within the Tutorial "Classroom: Basic Site Layout and Navigation in Dreamweaver" but that option isn't available/visible from my most recent update t Dreamweaver CC. The only thing noticeable is that the instructor is using a Mac version of the software. Help!

    CS4 is 6+ years old.  A lot has changed in web standards and Dreamweaver since then.
    APDivs were never a good or sensible way to make primary layouts.  Today, they are downright impossible in Responsive web designs because content in APDivs is removed from the normal document flow.  See links below for further details on why APDivs should be avoided.

    If you're going to work with DW CC, you need to find tutorials to match your product version.  CS6 is wildly different from CC and CC 2014.

  • Where is Dreamweaver's new Insert panel?

    Hi,
    I just removed Dreamweaver CS6 and reinstalled it (Windows, ver. 12 rel. 5808) from Creative Cloud, in hopes of finding the new Insert panel with Media/HTLM Video option just announced in this video:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs6-creative-cloud-feature-tour-for-web/dreamweaver-cs6-update-f or-creative-cloud-members/
    Unfortunately that revision isn't present in the latest download.
    Will this revision apply to both  Win and Mac?  When will it actually be available?
    Also... sometimes CC notifies me that updates are available for certain CS6 apps and allows them to be downloaded and installed.
    Does this happen with all updates?  HOw quickly?  Manual removal and reinstallation is such a drag!
    Thanks

    Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply!  (I was finally able to download the latest version of Dreamweaver, which had the new Insert panel.) Unfortunately I've been having a far more severe problem for th elast couple of days: (inability to log into Creative Cloud or the support portal. I also can't log into http://helpx.adobe.com/contact/creative-cloud.html to request help! Assuming that you too aren't suffering from these problems... may I please ask you to help out by contacting them, eg., via forum or new issue ticket, and by indicating that I'm the one who needs the help!Here is my profile:http://forums.adobe.com/people/wbaafs And here are a few more details you can cut and paste if you like: Thanks Dave,Richard Kahn (for Bill Anderson)
    For over a day or two I haven't been able to log into plain old adobe.com (except very intermittently, and then can't open other pages from it). I can log into and view forums.adobe.com and get to Creative Cloud forum but I can't sign in and post a message about the log-in problems. These problems occur regardless of whether I try to log in with ANY browser from    -- my Win 7 destkop   -- VMs on my desktop (which don't have any creative cloud application manager or apps or CS6 apps installed on them), or
       -- from an old Vista laptop. Clearing all cookies from Firefox made no diffierence. I saw a staff post on the Creative Cloud forum from earlier today regarding a "degradation" problem with that service. That's putting it mildly! Can ypu please correspond with me via email or else give me a non-adobe.com-based help area that I can log into (or don't need to log into)? Thanks,Richard Kahn (for Bill Anderson)

    Try going to Help > Updates within Dreamweaver CS6, that will launch Adobe Application Manager in a different way for updates. In there you can set preferences for automatically checking for updates for individual programs and how you are notified of updates. I show a newer build that what you listed 5848, so I think there is an update you need to install. -Dave

  • How to make Insert panel enable?

    Is it possible to enable Insert panel in other type files than default,  for example in JavaScript?
    I have some plugins installed like jQuery Utilities Toolset that put new icons into Insert panel for jQuery objects. Obviously I would like to insert them in JS files, not in HTML or PHP.

    Hmm. That's obviously a show-stopper for using the Insert bar. Commands work in Code view.
    Another possibility is to create your own floating panel. The Floating Panel API has an isAvailableInCodeView() method.
    Does it mean Adobe made this panel customizable but didn't predict that somone may need it in JavaScript or XML files to create own insert objects?
    The Insert bar has been part of Dreamweaver for as long as I can remember (it was certainly part of Dreamweaver 3), so its history goes back 10 years or so. In those days, few people were writing their own JavaScript or XML. Why not submit a feature request? https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform.

  • Lost my insert panel's tabs

    I changed the view of my insert panel to the non-tabbed view.
    Now I'd like to change it back to the default tabbed view. How do I
    do this? I have Dreamweaver CS3.

    Heh I found the answer :) In the dropdown menu in that panel,
    choose the bottom choice, "Show as tabs".

    This started all of a sudden.
    The entire website is a series of spry tabbed panels.

    if you click on General construction tab things work ok...
    if you click on Machine control tab, mouse over doesnt work and all page content of each tab show through.
    ive been looking for the answer for 4 months with no success.
    Hope a fellow dreamwever-person can help
    Thanks Rick

    You called it: your links to the SpryAssets are linking to your hard drive, not to the files within the folder on the server.
    Correct these links:
    <script src="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    And you should be good to go.

    ps. If you run into more difficulties with the Spry Widgets, take your questions to the Dreamweaver Spry Forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/spry, where they will get quicker attention.

  • How can I package a custom block of HTML code to be inserted by clicking the insert panel

    Is there a way to package custom HTML code such as
    <figure>
    <img src="" alt="" />
    <figcaption>

    </figure>
    so that I can click a button on the insert panel and insert this code?

    Make it a snippet. You will have to insert from the Snippets panel.

  • Why is the Insert Panel Missing from Dw CS6 Build 12 v 5861?

    Why is the Insert Panel Missing from Dw CS6 Build 12 v 5861?

    If Nancy's advice doesn't make it pop up as a window, you may have it set as a tool bar, in which case, hitting Ctrl+F2 will make the tool bar appear/disappear.
    To turn it back into a floating panel, click and drag the dashed line on the far left of the Insert tool bar and pull it away from the top. You can leave it as free floating or drag it to another edge until it highlights the edge and drop it to dock it to whichever side of the screen you prefer.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Can't Insert F4V only FLV?

    I was hoping for a quick way to insert H.264 HD video into
    web pages with CS4 Dreamweaver, but apparently the Insert -->
    Media command only recognizes FLV file types, not the F4V files
    produced by Adobe Media Encoder from H.264 HD video.
    Others on the Internet are saying to rename the .F4V to .FLV.
    Indeed, Dreamweaver will then allow you to insert the video with
    Insert --> Media. Is this OK?
    Does anyone know a fast way to insert F4V's into Dreamweaver
    pages? One nice feature of the Dreamweaver insert of regular FLV's
    is it keeps track of which folder you put the video in and
    correctly changes the relative file paths when you upload to a web
    server. When you insert a SWF & Video created with Flash,
    there's usually headaches with the file paths being off unless you
    put all the files in the same folder as the HTML page calling them,
    which isn't practical for large sites with many videos. Or edit all
    the files, a bigger pain.

    That's easily solved by using ROOT RELATIVE links to the SWF
    and Video
    rather than document relative ones.

  • How to use the structure on my insert statement.

    I have a function and returning a structure:
    <CFSET stLoc_and_AttIDs=StructNew(1)>
    <CFSET
    stLoc_and_AttIDs["LocID"]="#getLocID.LocationID#">
    <CFSET
    stLoc_and_AttIDs["AttID"]="#getLocID.AttachmentID#">
    I call this function like this:
    <CFSET LocAndAttIDs= MyFunction(LocName)>
    I'm having difficulty in refering to the values of this
    structure in my insert statement:
    I'm doing it this way and got error, I'm sure I didn't do it
    right, please help.
    Insert Into MyTable (Column1, Column2, Column3, .....)
    VALUES (#LocAndAttIDs.stLoc_and_AttIDs["LocID"]="#,
    #LocAndAttIDs.stLoc_and_AttIDs["AttID"], 23)

    is that the actual code? if so, it looks like your # aren't
    matched up properly. for example, i count 3. there should be an
    even number :)
    you don't seem to have a closing # after the 2nd variable,
    and the closing # for the first variable seems to be a little....
    late. it should be after the closing bracket ( ] ), since that's
    where the variable name ends.

  • Cannot enable insert panel when using javascript files

    I have been using DW CS5 for a few years now and pretty much did everything in code view manually. I knew that there were tools available to speed up coding but just got used to doing it all manually. I am a big jquery fan and just recently thought it might be useful to switch to using some kind of toolkit to allow me to insert common JQ components quickly.
    I came across JQ Utilities toolset which looked promising, so downloaded and installed it. However, although it installed fine and I could use it to insert JQ components into .PHP and .HTML files, I found I couldn't use it when editing my .js files  (which of course is where I generally hold all my js code!) because the insert panel was dimmed out. I wasn't sure if the toolset had messed it up [thinking malware] (because I never really used the panels much), so I did some research.
    I've found a few related threads, the most obvious being:
    2925110: How to make insert panel enable?
    5438857: Can't switch on jquery utilities toolset in C5
    However, neither of these or anything close were actually answered.
    The general response seems to be that the insert panel is disabled in anything but PHP and HTML files and that's the way it's designed.
    Can anyone please confirm that there's no way around this, so that I can just forget the idea and move on. Or if there is a way around it, please let me know how !  Perhaps there's a better JQ friendly editor that might be worth me investing some effort migrating to?
    Thank you
    Tony

    I don't have CS5, but could you essentially lie to DW and put a .php extension on the file while you're working and change it to .js when you're ready for testing?
    It may be a cruddy work around, but short of an update to DWCS5 (which won't be coming), I don't see a way to fix it if it's a known issue.
