Dreamweaver takes an hour to open

I'm using the Mac version of DreamWeaver. I just updated from
CS3 to CS4. With CS3, I would occasionally have to wait about an
hour for the program to open. This happened only a few times, so I
didn't both trying to solve the issue. However, now that I have
installed CS4, I'm having this problem every time I try to open it.
The program is just stuck. If I open up the "Force Quit
Application" box, I can see that Dreamweaver is alternating back
and forth between "program not responding."

Does your Mac meet the minimum system requirements specified
here:

The minimum RAM is listed as 512MB, but I would suggest more
than that.
Double it once or twice :)
Is your Site local folder on a network drive? Local folders
are
significantly faster on local hard drives.

If that troubleshooting does not resolve your issue, you may want to consider recreating your iTunes library.

Mail version 1.3.11 takes an hour to open mail program

I'm running MAIL version 1.3.11 on MAC version 10.3.9, my processor is 1.25 GHz, Power PC G4 and memory is 256 MB DDR SDRAM.
I attached a file to an email and sent it. My mail program became unresponsive after sending this email. It had the spinning wheel that shows the mac is "thinking/doing" something. I finally shut down my computer with the power switch b/c I was not aware of the FORCE QUIT option at that time. The email that I sent was received by the recipient. The Mail program continues to be VERY slow and will receive emails, but not send emails. If I try to send an email the Mail program locks up and I have to force quit. When I start the program, it takes approximately one hour to open the Mail program! It is so bad that I use my ISP website to check, send and receive emails, which is a pain b/c none of my email addresses are in this address book.
Is there a way to uninstall the mail program and reinstall it? Please help! Thanks so much!

Hi teamstamper. Sorry you post has been hanging fire.
How large are your Mailboxes, as too large can cause problems in general? Click on the *In box* and read the size below the Mail toolbar. If it is several hundred megabytes that could be a concern.
A shortcut you could try is, with Mail closed, in Finder, in your Home account, go to
~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes
where you will see the Outbox.mbox
and drag that to the trash.
Then see if Mail is more responsive.

Premiere Pro CC project takes 1 hour to open !

Hi everybody,
After a Premiere Pro CC 7.1 crash, I tried to reopen my last project and the loading of this project took 1 hour to reopen normally. The yellow loading progression bar is freezing approximatively at 30 % of full load. 1 hour later, my project is open without any problems. If i save the project again, quit Premiere and reopen my project, it loads in a few seconds...
I tried many things before waiting the hour :
Kill Premiere during the load, reopen a backup of my project : same problem > load is very long and seems to be frozen
Shutdown computer and restart then reload the project : same problem > load is very long and seems to be frozen
Open the crashed project in another computer (Mac) without the media attached : same problem > load is very long and seems to be frozen
Delete all the media cache folder and empy trash.
This happend several times on a big project (lots of media, multi cameras) usually after many CTRL-Z action that are (I think...) too fast.
My footage are clean and on a Raid 0 disk
It's not really dramatic but when it happens when a director is arround me, and we spend 1 hour to wait for a simple project load... that's really not cool :-/
Anyone got an idea ?
My configuration : Windows 8.1, Premiere Pro CC 7.1, 32 GB Ram, Bi Intel Xeon E5-2630 2.3 GHz

Quicktime H264 from Canon 5D Mark III, few Go Pro clips (5 ou 6 in 2 hours) and some AVCHD clips (drone shots)

You can try one thing, try to import whole project in After Effects, then export that as as new premiere pro project..
When I import the project in After Effects, same thing : the load is very long ! ...
one more thing you can try, open the project inthe premiere pro and export as FCP XML.
Now open a new premiere pro blank project, import FCP xml file in the premiere pro.
I can't do that when it bugs because to export as FCP XML, I have to load the original project... and that's the problem ! I tried to unzip the PRPROJ file (that's a Gzip file...) and parse de XML in it with and xml validator. Everything seems to be ok in my project. So I think the problem comes from the medias or the database ? ... But that's completely weird that when I try to open it on another computer (without the medias, with another database) I've got the exact same problem... So It's really the project that is corrupted.
Next time it will bug (sure it will...) this is what I'll do :
Copy my crashed project on desktop and keep it. After 1 hour of opening, I'll save the project with a new name and compare de 2 file size. Just to confirm that my crashed project and my good project are different. If they have the same size, maybe It's more Premiere than the project itself. If they are different, I'll compare them to see what changed between the crashed and the good one.
Writing in this forum I'm thinking about a new lead : Since PRPRO CC, the prproj files are gzip files (that's why the file size are so small compared to old version). So when PRPRO crash, maybe it corrupt the gzip compression of the project ? That's weird because a software like winrar can unzip the crashed project a reveal the xml file in it. So I'll try to extract the XML file in the crashed project and re-gzip it and rename it .prproj ?
Feel free to write some ideas or tests that could help me to understand this bug and how to resolve or quickly repair the damaged caused...

Accidentally merged all records into one contact, takes 12 hours to open

Hope someone can help me out
I accidentally hit a wrong key when experimenting with merge and the result seems to be that I have moved all of my 2000 ish contacts into a single contact.
When I try to open address book, it opens up a screen with the one contact listed and a huge column of numbers and all other name, address, title company mobile etc all in one long column of information.
I would delete it, but the file hasn't yet fully opened - the wheel thing is still spinning (after over 12 hours - I think it will eventually finish, because I actually did this sometime ago and copied and pasted the entire column into excel in the hope I might be able to line up all the contact info - not a chance!
I just want to get rid of the address file and start again as I have no hope of recovering the data
Any ideas how best to go about this - I want to start afresh and sync address book with my new iPhone

You have an iPhone with a "working" (i.e., not hosed) address book?
Address Book stuff is in your User Library folder. It's actual location was changed from Tiger to Leopard so I don't remember where exactly it was. Under Leopard, it would be in your User Library Application Support folder. I'm thinking in Tiger it was not nested as deep, it was just in your User Library folder. It's clearly labeled as "AddressBook" or "Address Book" though. So if you can resync from elsewhere (like from your iPhone), just trash that folder. Also look in your User Library Preferences folder and anything in there that has "AddressBook" in it (e.g., com.apple.addressbook.plist), trash that, too. I wouldn't empty the trash until you successfully resynced your computer to your iPhone's address book and successfully reopened Address Book and verified that everything looks okay...you can always move the stuff from the trash back to its original location if stuff didn't work as planned. If there is a way to make a backup copy of your iPhone stuff, I would do that in case something bad happened (like your iPhone resynced to your "empty" computer, rather than your computer resyncing to your iPhone).

Arghhh iTunes 10 takes 24 hours to open!!

Can anyone help?? It just says iTunes 10 is 'not responding' when I try to open it, but if I leave it running and come back the next day it does eventually open. My library is on an external drive, which I gather from other posts may be an issue. I'm not very technical so a lot of the stuff on these forums is beyond my understanding - can anyone help in simple terms?? Apple, how about you responding to all these problems with the upgrade- what a total nightmare!!

I found that the TSLicense plugin was causing the problem.
From the log:
PlugIn Path: /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/Versions/A/TSLicense
PlugIn Identifier: net.telestream.license
This pIugin is installed with the Flip4Mac Windows Media Components. I solved the problem by uninstalling the WM Components via the uninstaller at /Applications/Flip4Mac/Flip4Mac WMV Uninstaller.pkg, after which iTunes opens successfully.
if neither helps, try this:
quit iTunes. move the following file to the desktop: <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
fire up iTunes (which will create a new .plist file). if it works now you can trash the plist file you moved to the desktop.

Dreamweaver takes a long time to open, why? How can I speed it up? It should open faster than Photoshop et. al.

Premiere Elements 7 Takes Over 1 hour to OPEN

Hello,
I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me.
PE7 takes over 1 hour to open on my computer. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? This is absolutely outrageous. I'm a music producer, & I've run all sorts of huge programs on this computer w/no problem. Why would such a simplistic program like PE7 take over an hour to open???? Once it opened, it froze & crashed while I was browsing thru font styles.

It could be any of a number of issues:
1) Your computer isn't powerful enough, especially if it is a laptop. Check out our recommended specs, not Adobes:

Or tell us how fast your processor is, how much RAM you have, how much free space is left on your hard drive and what operating system you're using and we'll tell you.
2) A bad install. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
3) Your firmware and drivers are out of date. Outdated RealTek drivers and Quicktime, in particular, can foul the program. (Again, as listed in the FAQs at the top of this forum.)

New iPod touch will not load app store or iTunes.....safari is working fine. Also software update says it is going to take 49 hours??? Can anyone help?

My new iPod touch is not letting me open the app store or iTunes. Safari is working fine. Also my iPad and iPhone are working fine. Wifi is connected. The software update is also taking forever on iPod, it says it will take 49 hours. Should it take that long? I have tried resetting, turning on and off, making date and time right etc. the first day we got the iPod touch the app store worked but not since.

MacBook Pro very, very slow, 20 hours to open in safe mode

I realize this is for the Macpro but the Macbook Pro site has way to
much spam on it and I was wondering if somebody on this list could

I have a Macbook pro, intel core 2    120 hard drive with 2 GB ram.
I think the 2.2 but not positive. I didn't want to wait a hour to
open about this MAC, operating 10.5 it was left on overnight, when I
got up in morning, I continued listening to Itunes. It would play
about 3 seconds of a song, pause for 5 or 6 seconds and then play
another 2 or three. I started to do a reboot and everything has
slowed down to the point of clicking to open a folder, it will take
10-15 minutes to open.
I finally got about everything that was open closed, and then forced
it quit using the apple, esc. and then held the power key down.
Upon rebooting all I had was the gong then spinning wheel, after a
few hours of this, I rebooted with install disk, ran dish utility.
It said the repair disk was OK and then repaired a few permissions.
I quit DU and then rebooted, gong, spinning wheel for hours.
I then rebooted with tech tool deluxe, and ran everything.
Everything checked out except 8 errors on surface scan.
I was able to run disk warrior and it rebuilt it, but still same
problem. It almost acts like the hard drive is operating at a 1/10
of the speed it should be.
I can startup in safe mode which will take approximately 20 hours.
Any help appreciated.

Works just about the same for 10.5, same process
If you have a Intel Mac you should consider 10.6, as it strips out the PPC code and introduces faster video drivers, you'll see a nice snappy increase.
While your at it you may as well get a new hard drive too, that one is rather limted (only 120GB) and old, it's likely dying, even though it checks out. This is typical of a dying drive, it gets slow and acts strange.
You can breathe new life into that machine, download the Free MacTracker, look up how much RAM it can hold and beef it up along with a new hard drive, install 10.6 and you'll have a new machine again.
It's all here, read. We can't crawl through the lines and fix your machine, only guide you to fixing it yourself.

I do not feel comfortable setting this parameter session or system wide to provide a solutionIf you're sure that the "lower" environment reproduces the same issue, and not due to some other differences (different statistics, parameters etc.), then you could share the two different execution plans generated via DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY having the cost based transformations turned on and off. Make sure you use the \ tags before and after the plan output to format it in fixed font. You can use the "Quote" button in the message editor to see how to use the tag.
Furthermore a optimizer trace (10053) might reveal why the cost based transformations lead to such an result.

Rendering 1280x720 takes 27 hours for 30 minutes of footage.

I am trying to edit footage from a Kodak Zi6. I converted it using MPEG Streamclip. I can open it in FCP but am having trouble finding an import setting which will allow me to not have to take 27 hours to render the clips once they are in FCP. Help Please!

The material is probably originally some version of h.264, which QT7 should understand.< </div>
Your issue is more about working the camera and making it work with FCP than it is about FCP. Don't forget to pop open the manual for the camera and to go hang out on whatever user forums are available for that camera model. It may shoot a nice high def picture but where are you going with your video? Do you expect to play from a computer? Standard DVD? Blu-ray? KNowing your output destination will make a lot of difference with the workflow we might suggest.

Mac Dreamweaver CS6 very slow to open files

My Mac Dreamweaver CS6 opens html files in about 1-2 minutes! It is very very slow. It all works when the file is open but it is the actual opening that is slow.
I have turned off external files but no change.
Any ideas??

I've been strugling with this issue for a long time.
I've found that Dreamweaver takes about 2 minutes to open CSS files with @import url for font face.
for example:
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Oswald:400,300);
i've never had problem with big files but if i place this line into my 20k css file, it takes for ever to load.
if i remove it, it opens fast as usual.
Please don't tell me that it could be a Google problem thatis loading slow because it's not.
the font file isnt big enough either.
Of course i have deativated the "load things from external urls" setting.
any ideas on how could this be fixed withoput changing my work style ?

Why take 156 hours to transfer backup from 500mb capsule to 2tb capsule

What am I doing wrong?
I've connected the old 500gb Time Capsule to the new 2TB Time Capsule via a high speed ethernet cable.
I then opened two finder windows, one with the old capsule and one with the new capsule.
I subsequently drag to copy the the backup sparsebundle files (2, two iMacs) from the finder window of the old capsule to the window of the new capsule.
I then get a message that it will take 156 hours or 6.5 days to transfer the files.????
