Dreamweaver template to update file other than html?

Hi,
I am using Dreamweaver CS4 to manage my website.
The problem is i cannot get Dreamweaver to update my .tpl (php template)
Any idea?
Thanks

Thanks,
I finally figure it out how to get if fix.
May be i should say it clear, i use dreamweaver template which is a dwt file to update all html pages in my website.
But some of the file i use which is tpl extension (the same as html file but with template variables). The dreamweaver
did not recognize it. The page did not show up when i make changes in dwt file.
Then what i do is change the "configuration" > "DocumentTypes", so that dreamweaver recognize tpl as a type of html file.
After that i change extension.txt file also. Rebuild site cache. And now its done.

    It will, if you do the following:
    Open Macintosh HD and locate the Time Capsule icon under the SHARED heading on the left side of he window.
    Click on the Time Capsule icon and a folder representing the drive will appear to the right
    Double click the folder and the drive icon will appear on the desktop

    The default language is defined by the page group, not by the page template. You can't change the default language for a page group, but you can define the default language when the page group is created.

    No, it will only delete files from its own sparsebundle.

    Again No.. the TM has no ability to do anything outside its own sparsebundle.. it will not affect your files.. mixing up data and TM backups is not necessarily a great idea though.

  • Dreamweaver templates not updating *.php file

    Hello everyone,
    I have been given an exisiting website to update that uses
    Dreamweaver templates.
    I have made the changes successfully within the content.dwt
    file, saved it, and then uploaded both the new content.dwt file and
    the related *.htm pages that were linked to it.
    After going to the website to double check the new pages I
    found a *.php file that uses the same template, content.dwt, but it
    never asked to update that particular file.
    So, I opened the *.php file in Dreamweaver and tried to apply
    changes from the content.dwt file to it using: Templates - Update
    current page, but no such luck. Since there is no code at the start
    of this file like the other *.htm files how do I "connect" it with
    the newly updated template. I tried making a small change on the
    content.dwt file so see what files would come up in the "do you
    wish to update..." list but for some reason the *.php file is not
    there.
    Perhaps the answer is fairly obvious to someone who has
    worked with Templates a lot but since I have just started working
    with templates I still have a large knowledge gap in this area.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Mr Zedd

    Can you post a link to the PHP page, please? This will allow
    me to see the
    HTML markup on it....

  • Template Not Updating Files

    I am helping someone with implementing CSS on a website. She
    created the entire site in Dreamweaver MX using one dreamweaver
    template. I did a remote get of all the files from her ftp site,
    including the template file. So now I have the entire directory
    structure on my local computer as is what is on the server.
    I opened her template file and added a link to the style
    sheet I created. However when I went to save the template file,
    dreamweaver didn't ask me if I wanted to update the files that were
    created previously with this same template. What could be causing
    the template to not update all of the HTML files associated with
    it? Is it because they weren't created on my local machine?
    Please help a VERY FRUSTRATED guy :-)

    This is the problem - look at the markup below. You say that
    this is a child
    page, yet the markup still uses -
    <!-- TemplateBegin....
    which means that the page is NOT a child page, it is a
    template page. This
    must mean that you used the wrong procedure to create your
    child pages -
    rather than creating them with FILE | New > Templates >
    Site Name > Template
    Name > Create, you must have just opened the template,
    added new content,
    and then saved the page with an *.html extension. That will
    never work.
    Your alternatives now are to recreate each page from this
    template, using
    the proper method, and copy and paste your existing page
    content into the
    new page, finally saving the new page over the old page. Do
    this for each
    page you have created (or someone has created) improperly.

  • Error in saving template and updating files

    I'm using Dw CS3 on Windows XP. I have created a template I created from another page and then created my new pages from the template. I am still working on the site so it's all on my computer - not yet uploaded to the remote site. It was working fine for quite some time but suddenly now when I make a change to the template I am getting the following error message:
    The code on line 6 is:
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    The code immediately above and below, in case that is relevant, is:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <meta name="keywords" content="Creighton Bookkeeping, Creighton Book Keeping, bookkeeping, book keeping, Creighton, Creighton services" />
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Your Page Title Goes Here</title>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    #wrapper {
    position:relative;
    etc ...
    As you can see, I had a problem with Dw CS3 giving my pages a tiltle so I had to adopt the workaround I found in the Dreamweaver forum.
    I can't see what the problem is on line 6; and I clearly have to give my pages a title. I have no idea how to find column 47.
    This is my first site, and yes I have used AP Divs. I have since seen all the warnings about dangers using them (after the event) and won't in future except where absolutely required. For this initial site I am using fonts in points which does not seem to be a problem in the browser when I enlarge the fonts - because they won't enlarge so the AP divs don't cause a problem that I can see. When I re-design the site in the future I'll move away from the AP divs to allow for the fonts to be enlarged in the browser.
    So, any clues as to how to clean up this code so the .dwt will save and update pages properly. Hopefully I have provided sufficient information (I haven't yet worked out how to upload the page so you can see all the code).
    Look forward to hearing of possible solutions.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Medel,
    We fully support Windows 8.1 Enterprise, therefore it is alright to use that SKU. As long as you have Windows 8.1, all that Siena needs, will be provided by the Operating System.
    As a follow up for you, on the other laptop, if you do the following what happens?
    1) Reboot
    2) Start Siena, once the machine comes back up
    3) Start a new document and save as something other than "test.siena", on your desktop
    Does it save? If it does not, you may have to post on the Windows Forum and see what suggestions are available.
    Thanks.

  • Everytime I download a file other than a pdf, it gets automatically deleted when finished downloading.

    I am using Firefox 7.0.1. Shortly after a Firefox update, I noticed that every time I download any type of file except for .pdf files, they automatically get deleted as soon as they finish.
    I tried downloading to my c: drive, a flash drive even a CD with the same result. Why does this happen? I also can't open any downloaded attachments I get in e-mails.
    I can download files and or e-mail attachments via Internet Explorer with no problems other than it (IE) randomly locks up. I even tried restoring my system to a previous configuration with no luck. Can you help?

    You posted this with a computer running a Firefox 7.0.1 according to the system details.

  • Dreamweaver Templates and Include files

    Hi,
    I am using dreamweaver templates so that my users can create
    new pages on our Intranet using Contribute.
    When I create a template and try and use an inculde file for
    the menu systems I get an error. I am trying to use the following
    code to inculde the asp file:
    <!--#include file="/includes/menu.asp" -->
    And I get the following error when saving the template:
    Unbalanced body tag
    I have checked and I definetly have opening and closing body
    tags in the HTML. So I am wondering whether the error is caused by
    the fact that the file is a dwt and not as asp.
    So, is there anyway of using include files in a dreamweaver
    template?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    That's the wrong syntax for a file include. It should be
    either of these -
    <!--#include virtual="/includes/menu.asp" -->
    or
    <!--#include file="includes/menu.asp" -->

  • Is there any way to tell "Create MP3 Version" where to create the files other than in the same folder as the songs you want to create the mp3 versions of?

    I am trying to get MP3 versions of my non DRM protected songs onto a DVD so I can import them into my cars "Music Register".
    There is no easy way to do this that I can see in Itunes . I follow this process..
    Highlight the songs I want to copy in Itunes
    Select Create MP3 version from main menu
    Open up Finder Window showing the Itunes folder with the m4a and MP3 files newly created..
    Go Up a directory or 2 to get the Artist 'folder'
    copy that folder to my external drive
    Delete the MP3 songs from the Itunes folder (I dont want duplicates showing) obviously
    Delete the M4a songs from the external drive....
    I have about 5000 songs so doing this manually is clearly a complete pain.
    I dont think you can force it to create the mp3 files anywhere other than in the current folder in itunes unless someone tells me otherwise
    More likely does anyone know of any other software to do this with less effort...
    I confess to not being an Itunes fan at all I admit but I like the Match functionality so I keep it otherwise I would cheerfully chuck it in the bin...
    Thanks in advance...

    It appears I have figured it out. You gotta go down to where it says Destination and tell Lightroom to Organize into One Folder.
