Dreamweaver to Fireworks Templates Question

I have been using Dreamweaver and Fireworks for a while now,
but I am just starting the enter the world of templates. I have
previously just been creating a graphical layout in Fireworks and
exporting the HTML and slices to Dreamweaver and using it as my
base layout. However, I recently d/l'ed some templates and they
consist of both the .dwt file and a .png file. The .png file is the
layout of the page but with only a few slices of key images. The
.dwt file is identical and is function as a template. My question
is, how do go between fireworks and dreamweaver? Lets say that I
have created an entire layout in fireworks, with roll-over buttons,
etc. How do I now import that page into dreamweaver and use it as a
template? When I try to export the HTML and slices into
dreamweaver, I cannot create layout tables and cells. Do I really
need to recreate everything in dreamweaver?

If you follow the add Dw image placeholder, jump to Fw, Save
png,Save jpg/gif and back to D you 'should' be fine. All that
should take place is the addition of the image and nothing else
within the code.
I just did another test on a .php page that is hooked into a
mysql database with all sorts of formatting on the page and it
worked fine.
What versions of Dw/Fw are you using?
I am using the latest, if you are using earlier, that is
possibly where the glitch is occurring?

Having trouble with Dreamweaver and fireworks willing to pay for support

I'm new to the forum and i was hoping to get some help with
dreamweaver and fireworks.
I built a site on my own using dreamweaver 3 years ago but
have forgotten almost everything. I am planning on building a new
web site and have been messing with dreamweaver for over a week
trying to figure it out, with little success. I bought a web
building package years ago that included fireworks, dreamweaver,
freehand and maybe more, but i lost my books on dreamweaver and
fireworks somehow.
Anyways, I was trying to learn dreamweaver 3 and fireworks
and was having a lot of trouble with it. The dreamweaver bible
assumes you know how to make a navigation bar using fireworks and
that simply isnt the case for me. So I need help with that.
Also, i have been having trouble with my template. This is
how you save your basic page correct? For some reason it doesnt
save the whole page for me. I figured out the editable regions
part, I think, but since i didnt know how to make a navigation bar
I made my own links out of text, and this part isnt saving with the
template.
I have a lot more questions but i think ive taken enough of
your time. I am willing to pay someone to help me build this site,
i cant afford a lot but i think my questions are pretty basic.

There is a recent thread on the FW forum that may interest
you - it's called
"Firworks and HTML". The advice there applies in your case,
too.
One problem with your use of DW3 is this -
the browser world has changed quite a bit in the almost 10
years since DW3
was released. Some (many?) of the behaviors in DW3 simply
won't work any
more because of these (significant) changes. Are you
absolutely locked into
using DW3?

Photo Gallery in Dreamweaver using Fireworks

How do I add images to a photo gallery that I created in
Dreamweaver using Fireworks? I created a photo gallery and I
changed my background color and other settings, but I need to find
any easier way to add images without messing up my settings. Each
time I add a photo, I don't want to have to change 40+ web pages.
Can someone please help? If there is an easier program to use, then
I will change programs.

Sorry in advance if the following comment is missing the
point of your question.
Ans: You need to export (>File > Export) the image that
you have manipulated in Fireworks to an images folder in your
dreamweaver website. You will be prompted for an optimum file
output (JPEG, GIF etc) during this process. Then close Fireworks
and open DW. Then place your curser at the point in the webpage
where you want to insert the image and then select Menu > Insert
> Image. Browse to the image that you have created in Fireworks
and press enter. Job done! Fireworks is a fantastic s/w application
... and there's no need to look elsewhere.

Dreamweaver and Fireworks?

Hi,
I have been using (very) old versions of Dreamweaver and Fireworks for the past few years, and am thinking about upgrading to the latest versions.
I see Fireworks is not part of Creative Cloud, but there is talk of Fireworks CS6 somehow being available through the service?
I basically just want to know my options of what to buy, and the Adobe site could not be less clear about how to get hold of Fireworks - I can see I can get Dreamweaver CC with a Single App subscription. How can I add Fireworks to this bundle? I really don't want the rest of the apps - just these two.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
Alternatively - what has everyone moved to from Fireworks now that it is no longer being actively developed?

when starting mx 2004 dreamweaver or fireworks, and immediate
error message pops up: ERRO: Write File() The handle is invalid.
the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click ok
to terminate application.
flash works fine even after re-installing.
tried downloading dreamweaver 8 trial from adobe site, worked
fine go figure.
have tried re-installing applications with all start up items
disabled and in safe mode,
have checked hard drive for errors - none
run sfc /scannow - no messages
replaced cmd.exe in c:\windows\system32 - no effect
sounds like a security issue or file that is damaged.
any help or direction on this problem would be greatly
appreciated.

The only thing I can think of, which is a wild guess, is
this:
Software installations usually tell us to close other
programs and if
you are like me, you ignore that. I've seen a few computers
that, when
you tried to spell check in Word, had out of memory errors.
On at
least one of these machines, the problem was solved by
reinstalling
with all other apps closed and on at least one other one,
problem
solved by installing in Safe Mode.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 Template

I'm trying tou put some PHP outside of the HTML tag in a
Dreamweaver MX 2004 Template I have made.
I keep getting errors when I try to update my pages with this
code.
Can anyone give me any tips / solutions on how to do
this?

What errors are you getting?
What PHP are you trying to place outside of the <html>
tags?
Can you show us a template page that would throw these
errors?

Uninstall Dreamweaver and Fireworks?

I chose "custom installation" during my CS4 installation, but the installer went ahead and installed everything anyway. (Thanks, Adobe!) I would now like to remove Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Will a drag-uninstall do it, or is there an uninstall process I should go through?

That's because few people read the Read Me file which is located in each of the CS4 applications' folders!
"IMPORTANT: Mac OS has new uninstall functionality. DO NOT drag applications to the trash to uninstall them. To safely uninstall on Mac OS X, double-click the product installer in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers or double-click on the Uninstall alias located in the Application folder. Authenticate as an administrator, then select Remove Components and follow the on-screen instructions."

NEW! Dreamweaver or Fireworks....Whats the difference??

Oh wise and intellectual ones,
I used to study design at college and want to start playing
around with it again. Would like to do print, logo's and try my
hand at some websites too. I've already purchased CS3 Design
Premium, which should arrive soon. Was this a good choice? If I
want to try my hand with websites, will Dreamweaver be a good
program to use? ORRR....Should I have gone with Cs3 Web Premium
package, with Fireworks too..
Whats the difference between Dreamweaver and Fireworks?
Would appreciate your advice!

Dreamweaver and Fireworks won't run at the same time

Recently, I've run into a problem where I cannot run Dreamweaver and Fireworks at the same time.
I have Dreamweaver CS4 & Fireworks CS4, which I can still run at the same time.
However when I run Dreamweaver CS5.5 and try to launch Fireworks CS5.1 I get a C++ Runtime error in FW CS5.1.
And when I run Dreamweaver CS6 and try to launch Fireworks CS6, Fireworks CS6 freezes before fully loading.
If I run DW CS6 and launch FW CS4, I can get them both to run together, but when I close FW4, DW CS6 crashes.
Any suggestions would most appreciated.

Historically, I've always kept prior versions installed because sometimes, albeit infrequently, I need to access extensions that aren't compatible with the newer versions of CS. Since I can run DW & Fireworks CS4 together, I'm inclined to leave them installed.
I've thought about uninstalling CS 5, but I don't think that would resolved my issue. I've already tried most of what's in the Adobe troubleshooting suggestions save for creating a new administrator account.
I think I'll hobble along with my current workarounds since I'll be migrating to a new computer very soon, which should acomplish what creating a new administrator account would. I'll probably limit the reinstall to CS 6 to eliminate any issues that might be related to having multiple versions installed, which in reality shouldn't be an issue because again, I've always done that successfully in the past.

Not sure if this is a Fireworks or Dreamweaver problem but
here goes.
I¹ve created a graphic in Fireworks CS3 on the Mac and
Exported the HTML and
related images. I open the HTML file in Dreamweaver CS3, all
fine so far.
Then I highlight the table and click the Edit in
Fireworks¹ button and it
throws up a warning dialogue saying Cannot launch and
edit. The Fireworks
table could not be found in the HTML. Please export from
Fireworks and
re-import the HTML into Dreamweaver.¹
What?!!
I¹ve only just exported it from Fireworks! It¹s
even got the Fireworks table
code in the Code section, so what¹s going here?
Has anyone else had this?

Fireworks Templates Didn't Install

Anyone have a fix for fireworks templates not installing? The option to select a template isn't appearing on the splash screen either.

Have you tried reinstalling?

Fireworks newbie question

ok ....so i've been 'learning' fireworks since ver 1 in 1998 . doh ! Suddenly though i have really got to grips with fw , making a nice interface /gallery for my gardening business . The one problem that i have is that when i scroll down to the middle of the page and then click a button the 'focus' of the page jumps up to the top . this only happens in internet explorer and not in the previewer in fireworks mx

Sounds like this is a coding issue now, you may want to ask the question in the Dreamweaver forum.
However before you do, please upload the files to a remote server and provide a link to them when you ask your question. The only way people can help troubleshoot is if they see the page in context and can examine the code, the css, images etc.,

Template question- creating / inserting

Hi, I am setting up an online store (here is the test page-

) and I am using a program to create it. It is pretty nice, its
good for people who do not know much about php / asp, in fact you
don’t even have to know html. It is not as good as the more
advanced programs but it does work for me (its called shopping cart
system 4.0). The program asks for a product title, then you push a
button and it brings up the description box which allows you to
type text in (it has formatting options to change font size, bold,
different fonts, ect) and also has a "html view" box so you can see
how the text is formatted. By default, when you enter text the
program inserts two tags, your_text
(them two tags).
The items in the store have the same description, just under
different categories (I sell cell phone parts- what i mean by they
have the same description is the LG vx6100 phone and the Samsung
a610 are going to have the same description - "this antenna has a
screw in base...." ect ...... so the only difference is going to be
the picture and the title (which are separate fields from the
category description).
So I was wondering is if I can create a template titled
"antennas" for ex. in Dreamweaver and set all my antenna pages to
display that text. One possible solution is to make the text in the
description an image- and in the description of every antenna page,
I can tell it to insert that picture (antenna.gif for example).
That way if I ever want to change the description of all the
antennas, I don’t have to manually do all of them I can just
modify that one image. Does anyone know if there is a way I can do
this- but instead of doing it with an image, do it with text? If
so, I can create a template for every item, and since 90% of the
parts will have the same description, it will save me lots of time.
Any advice would be appreciated.. PS here is a screen shot of the

Are you asking if there's any way to create a fragment of
content that gets
automatically inserted into all pages on the site? If so,
have you
investigated the use of server-side includes?

Dreamweaver and Fireworks Webdesign

I can across this website, www.alphagraphicdesigns.com. They
have over 100 different styles to chose from for fireworks to use
in Dreamweaver and the pack that you can buy comes with components
for flash as well. I definitly recomend this site to anyone looking
for styles and button styles and vector images. I have looked
everywhere to try and find styles for fireworks and could not find
anything worth while until I can upon this website.

Flash, Dreamweaver, or Fireworks for web gallery

I'm wanting to make a nice web gallery. I do not want to use
the "create web gallery" feature found in Photoshop or Fireworks
because I want to be able to customize my design more than what's
offered in those templates.
I'm at a loss as to what Fireworks is really used for in the
first place, but from digging around online it seems like maybe
it'd be helpful for making a web gallery (or maybe just the initial
stage of figuring out the design?)
What is the best software for creating a custom gallery? I'm
assuming Flash, but then I thought maybe I could pull it off with
Dreamweaver?
I like how the images zoom in and fade out in these

pay for a template - again because I want to have custom design of
