Dreamweaver to Web upload???

I have been having a lot of trouble with uploading a site to
the internet. Is there an easy way?
In dreamweaver I was able to upload until today where I
created a few new things on my site. Now I just want to send the
files from my computer to the internet. Here is my problem. I
connect to server, everything works fine. Then I select my folders
and click "put." Then I get this error messege:
"An FTP error occurred - canno get remote folder information.
Access Denied. The file may not exist or there could be a
permission problem."
What does this mean? What should I do?
Thank you to anyone in advance that can get me past this
mess.
Sean

When you are connected to the remote site, what folders do
you see listed on
the remote side?

  • DreamWeaver CS3 Web Photo Gallery Help

I bought the Adobe Web Design package to put together a good
(hope springs eternal) Web site to showcase about 60 oil paintings
that are presently available at different poster sites. I am a
novice to DreamWeaver; started my basic web page. I now need to add
the photos in 6 different galleries - landscapes, waterscapes, etc.
I assumed I was going to do this in Photoshop CS3/Fireworks and
import it to the site I am building with DreamWeaver, but 2
    problems confront me:
    (1) I could not find a Photoshop CS3 photo gallery template
that allows for a text paragraph adjacent to a larger image when
clicking on thumbnails laid out on the side or the bottom of the
    page, or am I wrong?
    (2) It appears that Photoshop CS3 generates an independent
web page for the photo gallery - is it even possible to import a
photoshop cs3 web gallery into an existing DreamWeaver CS3 web
    page?
Appreciate any info in this area. Thanks.

Dunno as I do not have CS3; but I've used Photoshop a lot to
    generate
galleries, then I modify them. I think your main sticking
    point is
that you haven't found a Photoshop gallery that is close to
    what you
    want, is that correct?

What's to import? Photoshop outputs web pages and DW edits
    web pages.
    Edit away.

  • How do I compress a 2 min FCP video into 100MB for web upload?

How do I compress a 2 min FCP video into 100MB for web upload?
I have FCP v.7 as a part of FCStudio
OK, this may seem like a stupid question for most of you but I haven't used FCP for years.  I am trying to make and upload a 2 min video to the web and don't know how to turn it into a size of 100MB or less.
Yes, I realize that I have Compressor but it does not work on my computer for some reason.  I think my laptop is too old for it or something.
It needs to be in one of these formats and I would like to use the highest quality.  Suggestions needed for this also since this will be my first attempt at an uploaded video.
.MOV, .WMV, .AVI, .MPG, .3GP, 3G2, .QTL, OR .MP4
    Any help would be wonderful!
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), 750GB HD, 2.2 GHz, 6 GB RAM

First, let me apologize for the way we were chatting on your thread while waiting.
Let me summerize what I think we have here:
    1. You have a 2 minute show you want to convert to some codec appropriate for high quality presentation, but under 100MB final filesize.
    2. You feel you don't want to use Compressor or a preset for YouTube.
    3. You're in a hurry.
The fastest and highest quality method of making this conversion is using Compressor. It is designed to do precisely what you ask. The codec you want is H.264.
The YouTube preset is being suggested not because we think you're going to upload the clip to that site, but because the YouTube preset is a remarkably easy way to get a HQ H.264 clip with acceptable filesize. I'm staring at a 3:40 clip of 1080p that would knock your socks off and it's 90MB!
Even on a laptop the conversion is a matter of minutes.
If you're OK with my arguement, I'll write out a step-by-step proc for you and you can be done with this in time for that primetime show you want to watch.  OK?

  • Best setting for personal web upload

    Hi all,
I'm trying to export a video for my personal web upload.
I exported a clip of H.264, Middium Quality, Size-below 640xXXX in 16:9 mode. File size about 16MB &amp; bad quality at last!
What's your suggestion setting either via FCP or Compressor for export?
Better quality &amp; better file size ;)
    Thanks!!

For each of these select File>Export>Using QT Conversion and in the window thst opens change the "Use" to Broadband High or Medium from the dropdown menu.
As these are for 4:3 you will have to click the Options button and change "Size" to Custom and type in one of the sizes mentioned earlier.
Then open the Settings window and under Data Rate select "Restrict to 750kbps or 300kbps" according to the size you are using.

  • What is the best software for creating simple forms for the internet? I am currently using an oldversion of Dreamweaver for web authoring.

I am currently using and old version of Dreamweaver for web content, but need  a simple way of creating forms for my web site. I am not all that web savy...just enough to be dangerous.

    how about coda?

For the best answer, I recommend calling Pixela for assistance.  Here's their contact information:

  • Scp/ssh support for web upload

I prefer not to pass my credentials in the clear. Please offer a way to support other well-known protocols like scp in the web upload module.

I completely agree -- there are excellent low level API's available for support *much* *safer* and *better* data transfer options than just FTP - I personally want sftp/scp. WebDAV (over SSL in particular) is the other no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, you can save the gallery to your local disk, go out and upload, but for a tool that's all about work-flow, this seems really annoying, and given that making a dialog box that allows you to set what protocol and the various options that protocol may require is now a standard practice, it's not like it smacks of the Dreaded Creeping Featurism, IMHO.

  • Aperture to Picasa Web upload?

I am looking for a way to upload pics from my Aperture library to picasa web. Apparently there used to a plug-in for this developed by ubermind, but that seems to have been discontinued.
Anyway, its not too difficult to upload the pics alone - I am able to do so using the picasa web uploader and selecting the relevant aperture project or album that i want to upload from the "Media" section of the Finder "Browse for file" window.
However, only the pics get transferred this way and not face tags or photo descriptions. Is there a better way of  achieveing this? any suggestions much appreciated.

I still found the Aperture Picasa plug-in this morning on a softpedia mirror site: http://mac.softpedia.com/progDownload/Aperture-Picasa-Plugin-Download-50358.htm l; try External mirror 2 r30, but hurry!

  • BT Cloud - creating folders within the Web uploads...

On the Help pages the question, "Can I upload a folder or multiple files to the BT Cloud Web Client" is answered by explaining how to upload multiple files and then says you can create a new folder within the Web uploads folder to store them. Unfortunately it does not explain how to create the said folder - and as yet I have not been able to. Help please.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is an old thread, but still relevant to my current issue.
I've just joined BT and have activated the BT Cloud. I've tried to create a folder by clicking on the three little dots, but it's disabled. I uploaded a file and then it became enabled. Clicking on it though only allowed me to move it to trash. I moved it to trash and the 3 little dots became disabled again.
How do I enable this to create a folder? Surely it can't be that hard!!
    Cheers,
    Graham

  • LR 3.2 - Web upload issue/problem

Good news is that I am not getting error message like other posts in my search. Bad news - it is not doing it right. NOTE: this is my first attempt using web upload, so there is some user tial and error.
First attempt, didn't know if would create html page in process. Upload went fime, no errors, but when went to site, "page doesn't exist" error. Manually created a blank html page matching name used in LR, updated site, and reuploaded the web gallery from LR. Afterwards, went to site and same "page doesen't exist" error message.
Went to Dreamhost and logged into my account, and further loggd in to FTP (and a graphic webFTP version). Didn't see anything anything resembling an upload on the text FTP. On the webFTP version I saw a third directory was created - named my LR file name - and inside the directory folder it had all the all the photos and other files from the LR upload plus the html page I created. I'm wondering what I am doing wrong as LR is successfully logging on and uploading, but placing where not readable.
I have a similar question on the Dreamhost forum site, however, when a keyword search over there returned zero hits on "Lightroom" as a similar search over here returned zero hits on "Dreamhost." Figured it was best to ask in both places.

    RESOLVED...
Now this is embarrasing as I found the solution through trial and error. I was doing everything right except for two words -"Case Sensitive." The uploaded file and directory the upload created was "Area43Contest" yet when typing out the file path to view after upload, I naturally type all lower case and received the page doesn't exist error.
On the FTP viewer issue at my host: the text version appears to update overnight as the directory was not there yesterday but was there this AM. The "webFTP" version appears to be realtime which is why I could see on one and not the other yesterday.
Understanding Lightroom web upload: Assuming that you keep the default "use subfolder" checked, it is self-contained in the directory that it creates so the typed path ends in the directory name rather than a file name. Thati s why it doesn't create a page outside the directory. It launches full screen as previewed in Lightroom absent the other parts of the web site, like headers - which is exactly what I wanted.  Essentially a hidden page where I can deliver a product by giving a link. This was an HTML template where recipients can rt click and download the photos rather than the available flash templates which have the advantage of self running slideshow rather than download. While not necessary 99% of the time, may want to create a custom template with at least "Home" link as the only obvious way to return to the web site is back out the address to .com.
Hope others don't have to go through what I went through, but felt with the numbers that viewed this post in 24 hours and apparently stumped as no suggestions, that I had to let you know.

  • New to dreamweaver, complex web design.

hello, I'm a sports science student with a passion for helping people. I always get asked questions from novice gym users who don't know where or how to start. I'd like to create a website that allows them to find all they need to know In one place with all scientifically studied results and articles about supplements training etc. But also that based on a number of variables will give them a program to follow, free of charge. I downloaded dreamweaver and am at a loss about how to use it, I am very tech savi but not with web design.
I Have thought through a design.
The home/welcome page will be plain and simple with a introductory paragraph with a button saying 'get started' or a button saying 'I've already started' one will take them to a page that has variables such as height, weight, age, body fat, goals and experience, and through this information spit out a program, I know how to use all variables to create a routine (with my formula ofcourse) and obviously the other button will lead to there already created program.  The program itself will allow for a befire photo and constant recent photoa to be uploaded, also a table for day to day weigh ins and progress check on weight lifted in the gym. On the far right of the page I want to have a seperate scroll down bar with titles of various articles about different areas of fitness.
I Know this seems like a lot but i have the contacts to get users on to the site but I need good design to keep them there. Is all of this possible on dreamweaver?
THank ink you for any help

When you use a complex web site there are several parts to it
    - the HTML which controls the layout and the text
    - the pictures (which can only be changed by the web designer, nobody else)
    - the JavaScript, which can do certain things but cannot make permanent changes
    - the web server, which will run scripts (programs) to do things
It is the web server which will run software to create programs, allow upload of pictures, remember status etc.
This is written by an experienced web programmer, who must be experienced in all the latest security issues. IT MUST NOT BE DONE BY A BEGINNER OR AMATEUR. I say this with pain because it used to be a great way to learn. But no longer, because the bad guys know all the tricks, and if a beginner does it, in no time at all, you will have porn hosted in your web site, it will be secretly sending spam, and all the personal information will be stolen. If you are in the EU, this last is particularly serious as you have an absolute responsibility to protect personal information, and there are unlimited fines.

  • How to create favicon in dreamweaver cs5 and upload to website

I want to be able to create a favicon and upload to my website with dreamweaver. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Giselle

Good info from Joey... be sure the image is saved as an actual .ico file, not just any small image (.gif, png, etc).
But to clarify, the favicon does not need to be saved in the root folder, it can be anyplace you want, as long as you path it correctly. For example
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/video.html
    uses:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://www.citradingcards.com/lynnjohnson/images/favicon.ico">
as you can see, it's a couple folder levels deep.
Also, the favicon will display immediately after uploading to the server, it doesn't take days.... provided you use a browser that has never visited your site before!
That's why many Web page designers post questions about the favicon not showing up on their browser... yet everyone else sees it.
To get the favicon to show up immediately in your browser, you need to remove every trace of having visted your site... and in IE it's a little challenging. Clear the cache (Temp Internet Files folder), remove your site from Favorites, Bookmarks, and any other History stored in the browser.
It's nice to be able to test and see the favicon as soon as it's uploaded and not have to wait a couple days to know if it works!
    Best of luck,
    Adninjastrator

I just purchased this and every time I try to upload a pdf using the web interface, it says there was an error uploading the file with no additional explanation.
What's going on?  I'd like my money back if this program isn't working today.

  • Best practice in dreamweaver based web design

    Hi DW Gurus
I have been learning dreamweaver at work and at home for a while now and I am very interested in getting some details about best practices.
I am aware that my designs are still quite simple and don't expand dreamweaver anyway near its abilities, however as a novice I am sticking with DW CS4 and trying to developing foundation skills before trying to move on to greater adventures in web design.  My dream is to eventually leave my employer and start my own freelance design business that I can manage while I am travelling in SE Asia (yeah I know - dream on .....). I am saving for my CS4 master suite license - my current one belongs to my employer.
In particular I have just started to do some free design a community organisation - I am trying to develop a portfolio of sites that I can show new clients (with money) what they could expect for their investments.
I am interested in getting some ideas about work flows - design standards - whether designers use the dreamweaver layouts - whether to code or to use the WYSIWYG.
Anyone care to share how they plan and go about their design work.
In my past life I was a SQL developer and a C#.net programmer - in those feilds there are standards for code and applications . Are there industry standards that would point to good or better designing?
Thanks for your time and interest in my topic,
    Respect,
    Doug

The first thing you need to learn is html and css, without knowing the programming language will only make DW a hard tool to use.  You need to learn coding to WC3 standards.
    FREE HTML & CSS Tutorials  - http://w3schools.com/
    http://reference.sitepoint.com/css

Validation tools that you will need to bookmark.

Hopefully you use Firefox, and if you do, the web developer toolbar is essential:
    http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/
Yes, you can rely somewhat on DW's layout mode (or what features are left of it), but this will only lead to problems when it comes time to troubleshoot any problem pages that do not render correctly across the various browsers.
A paying client will expect a well designed, fully functional website and you need to have the programming skills to accomplish this for them.
Not sure how far advanced you are but the Adobe site has quite a few CSS based tutorials - and I would strongly urge you to go through the series listed below - to get up to speed on the correct way to lay out a page.
