Dreamweaver unable to re-install after catastrophic failure

I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows XP and suffered a catastrophic failure of the programme. I have tried to re-install but the installation fails after the initial dialog box. All the obvious actions have been tried but with no success. I am even unable to install the original version of DW MX 2004. I am now stuck without a working copy and it is giving me some grief. Help would be appreciated. Many thanks

MX 2004 is pre-Adobe and does not use the caps.db. It stores all its install and serial info in the registry. Therefore it should be safe. With regards to the MS cleanup tool you may need to run it multiple times. Adobe installs are "chained" and just deleting one install package will make the sub-packages appear in the Add or Remove programs list. Not something catastrophic, but a bit annoying.

Restore Time Machine Full Backup After Catastrophic Failure

I am new to the Mac and using Time Machine as my primary backup utility. My concern is the way it creates one full backup at the beginning and only incremental ones after that. If the full backup gets overwritten due to the program needing hard drive space, does it know to create another full backup, even if it needs to delete some older incremental backups?
I am concerned I will need to complete a full restore at some point, and will not be able to do so because there will not be a full backup present on the Time Machine disk.
Also, who has had to restore from a catastrophic disk failure using an external time machine disk? Is this easy? Does it work properly?

you concerns are unfounded. due to the way TM keeps data organized every backup is full and independent of any other backups.
when TM makes a backup it only backs up afresh new and changed files. everything else is _*hard linked*_ to existing backup copies.
deleting an earlier backup to save space as TM does sometimes has zero effect on the remaining backups. they remain full and complete. doing a full system restore from TM is very easy. you boot from the SL install DVD and select "restore system from backup" from Utilities menu.
However, it should be noted that TM is still very buggy and doing a full restore can not be tested until you actually do it. therefore, it's advisable to have a double backup using a different backup tool. bootable clones are the best for doing a full restore. CCCloner and Superduper are excellent cloning backup programs.

Please download the creative cloud desktop app from creative.adobe.com and try to download Photoshop CC from there.
If you already have the desktop app and it shows Photoshop CC installed try to log out and log back in the desktop app.

I have used the Adobe Cleaner Tool many times and uninstalled other Adobe Products but neither has worked. I have uninstalled/reinstalled this CD version of Dreamweaver several times when changing computers and after having computer issues. A google search of the problem suggested it may be an error related to the number of times I can reinstall this product due to licensing issues. Please help.

Absolutely not. You are misinterpreting things. The activation check never happens when just running the installer, only much later. It means what it says - there is another "install" pending/ active on your system, meaning somewhere there is an (invisible) process still blocking things. Either way, since you haven't provided any real technical info, we can't advise specifically. if you are on Windows, you may want to check your task manager and terminate any setup.exe and msiexec.exe processes plus potentially may need to manually fix/ delete some registry keys. For anything beyond that you will have to be much more specific.

I am unable to install extensions, they show up with "will be installed after you restart Firefox" even after I restart.
The "Staged" folder is present and remains after a restart, but the extensions do not get installed. They show in the extensions page with the "will be installed after you restart Firefox" message and remain like this no matter how many times I restart.
Any Idea's?
Running Firefox 24.0 on Windows 8.1

P.S. Just tried to install the "troubleshooter" add-on before posting the question and I got an error saying it cannot install because it cannot modify the needed file. (I did it manually instead)

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end side of the Search Bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete the addons.sqlite file.

After drive failure, I decided to install photoshopcc on my home pc.
when I try to start it, I get the message "already installed on 2 devices"
I need to remove it from one of those devices.
It's not obvious how to do this.

On one of your older PCs, Start Photoshop, go to the Help menu > Deactivate...

After running Software Update, I am unable to log in.
I found the following support article:

However, upon step 8 of the instructions, the following error appears:

This is actually after an update (not an "upgrade"), so I'm not even sure these are the appropriate steps.
This is the second time that I have been unable to log in after an update. The first time, I attempted to reset the password with the installation DVD; however, this resulted in "No LDAP Master" errors and I installed Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Server on a second internal drive and configured everything again. After setting everything up on the second install, I was going to reformat the first boot drive. Unfortunately, I'm just back to where I started after running the updates. I'm not sure if having two volumes with Mac OS X Server installed makes a difference in the instructions in the article mentioned above or not.
Another question: Is resetting the password with the installer DVD the same as using the Single User approach ("launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist", "ls /Users", then "dscl . -delete /Users/username AuthenticationAuthority")?
If so, I'll just do that; however, I am hoping that the Single User approach might somehow avoid "No LDAP Master" errors again.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I had the exact same issue; Lion recovery from Command + R would hang with the logs showing the same message. To resolve, I used Disk Utility to remove the recovery partition. My Air then used Internet Recovery to load all the tools. When using Reinstall via Internet it worked just fine.

I am unable to install After Effects CC to the specified location

My C drive is full, so I've moved PS, PP, and Media Encoder to my D drive. I went into my CC desktop app preferences and changed the install location. Now I'm trying to install After Effects, but it's still trying to install to the C drive, which is almost full, so I'm getting an insufficient space error. When will this issue be fixed?

Even if you have changed the install location, the product will be downloaded and get extracted from temp folder which is located in C. So that you need to have to space in C.
If it is not possible to make free space on C drive, then you may download the products directly from below link and install it on D drive.
