Dreamweaver website folder launched in iWeb

I created a website in Dreamweaver and I'm trying to launch it through iWeb or iDisk. I've tried dragging the folder containing the website into my iDisk and into iWeb with no luck.
How would I go about launching this website through .Mac (MobileMe)
Thanks

I also just tried making a custom folder in iDisk with the directory you suggested and nothing happened.
Everytime I do go to my homepage I get my username (rosger) and a link to my iDisk public folder that I made long ago. The URL for this is :
http://homepage.mac.com/rosger/FileSharing1.html
The files for this URL were located in my /sites folder so I deleted them and replaced it with the website I created in Dreamweaver with no luck. In fact, when I go back to MobileMe and look under homepage the file I attempted to delete still come up as if MobileMe isnt communicating with my iDisk in real time or not at all!
It should be simple right?
1) Put the files you would like to make as your homepage into the /sites folder located in iDisk. (In my case these files would be the site I made in Dreamweaver)
2) Head over to MobileMe and locate them under Homepage. Then go on using the URL given for this folder etc.
This is how I understand it

  • Opening website folder in iweb

I had a problem with OS-X so my iweb does not know my files I worked on before it froze. Back up again and fortunately I did save the website folder and it looks like everything is there. How do I get iweb to open this folder with all the files back up so that I can begin working on them again?

iWeb never had this ability to start with.
If you publish from iWeb to a folder on your desktop, then you might notice that when you open the files they do not open in iWeb, but in Safari.
When you update a page you are going to User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites file and clicking there and updating from there and then publishing to a folder or to MMe. You cannot update pages that have already been published, at least not in iWeb.
You need to understand that iWeb is not an html editor and that is why it can't import anything. It has code written into the software whereby the html code is created on publishing and not before.
Your files in the Sites folder have already been published to your desktop, so you are not updating them at all. When you click on them to open them, they will be opened in Safari or Firefox or whatever you choose to use.

  • My Dreamweaver website movies won't play in Safari

I have made my own very simple website in Dreamweaver. I have a showreel page where files that I made in imovie I then export or 'share' and then place in Dreamweaver as 'Shockwave media' - embedded in the page. When you visit the page a quicktime icon appears briefly and then a player window appears and the movies play automatically with the scroll bar and pause button in view.
This site is as smooth as silk in Firefox 1.5.0.8, Internet Explorer 5.2.3, Netscape Navigator 7.2 and Opera 6.0.3.
My friends using Safari are also not able to view the movies- what we see online is just a static Macromedia Shockwave icon.
My one breakthrough is that if I put the full path to these .mov files in the file name box in Dreamweaver (ie HD/folder/next folder/filename and extension) (rather than folder/filename and extension) you can view the movie by clicking on the Shockwave icon and another window will open and show just the movie with none of page information. This however messes up the view in all of the other browsers too as they do the same. So it is as if Safari cannot find the file in my website folder, but all of the other browsers have no problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Any chance you can post a link to the website so people can see the code? I'm no expert by any means but many people browsing here are and may be able to see what the issue is.

  • Does my iDisk website folder have the same contents as the folder created with Publish to Folder?

Should I make a back up of the website folder on iDisk?  Is this folder the same as the Domain.sites2 folder in the Library?
Is it the same as the folder that's created when I click Publish to Folder in iWeb?  It's so confusing - from where should I save, copy, or backup
my website?  Thanks for clearing this up.

The folder on iDisk is the published files - the Domain.sites2 has the unpublished data.
The published files on the iDisk aren't much use to you since you need to republish your site to a new server directly from iWeb or via a local folder and FTP.

  • How do i get hosted website files back into iWeb after they were lost off iWeb?

Lost all website files from my iWeb program.  Possible I updated a newer non compatible iWeb version?  At any rate........have website files back on my desktop and have no idea how to get them back into iWeb so I can modify.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You can't.  iWeb has no import capability.  Search your hard drive for a file named Domian.sites2.  It normally resides in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you use Time Machine you can go back in it to find the latest copy of that file.
    However,
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you can't find it you'll have to start a new website.  You can open the files from the website in your browser and copy/drag photos from the existing website pages into a new or blank iWeb page.  Text should be selected and copied and then pastes into the new webpage.  No need to add a text box first.

  • What is proper file/folder hierarchy in iWeb 08?

I'm not sure if this is an iWeb question or an iDisk question. I had iWeb 06 and created a website, then did the upgrade to iWeb 08. During that upgrade, I think my folders got messed up because here is what I see when I go to my iDisk: Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/....THEN I see the iWeb folder, but also see a folder called _gallery (which appears to have nothing in it), a file called Sites.rss, my website folder (which has all of the correct folders/files for my created website). If I double click the folder iWeb, I then see a file called index.html and another folder of my website which contains only some files that pertain to one page of my website! I'm sure this has to be wrong, but when I try to copy the correct files from the domain folder, Finder hangs and gets stuck on "preparing to copy" and I have to restart computer. This has happened many times in a row, I just can't seem to copy the files. The website is working now so I'm not sure if I should do anything...?

iDisk>Web>Sites>iWeb folder is the iWeb 06 folder.
iDisk>Web>Sites folder is the iWeb 08 folder.
The _gallery folder is for the Webgallery you publish with iPhoto.
It's always fun to mess around with the unknown and see what happens.

  • TS2167 my website is missing from iWeb. what do i do?

Make sure you're looking in the right Library folder.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Where is my 'website folder'?

Just created my first site in iWeb and in an effort to get my site to load quicker I have downloaded 'Webcrusher'.
It is asking me to drag my website folder to a window.
    Where can I find this?
    thanks
    Pete

Open Transmit and click on Favorites in the right hand pane. Then select "+" at the bottom of the right hand pane to bring up a new favorite. There you'll enter the following information:
1 - change Untitled favorite to whatever you want. I use Web/Sites as that's the folder on the iDisk.
    2 - Protocol = WebDAV
    3 - Server = idisk.me.com
    4 - User Name = your username
    5 - Password = your password
    6 - Port = 80
    7 - Remote Path = /your username/Web/Sites/your Web Site's folder
8 - Local Path = the file path to your web site folder which you're publishing locally.
Then save. You can set that favorite to open when you open Transit. Then all you need to do is click on the Sync button at the top and set the rules for uploading. Click on the right arrow to upload files. Set the Modification Date as the criteria for uploading. I'd also check the Delete orphaned destination files so you don't leave unneeded files on your iDisk.
Or your can sort by date and upload those files with today's date.

  • Dreamweaver Quits on Launch - NSImageCacheException

    Hi,
Have been happily using Dreamweaver CS6 for quite sometime but after a recent restart the app no long launches.  Quickly into launch I see this error in the crash report:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSImageCacheException', reason: 'Cannot lock focus on image <NSImage 0x18d8e570 Size={0, 0} Reps=(
        "NSCachedImageRep 0x18d8f230 Size={37, 0} ColorSpace=NSCalibratedRGBColorSpace BPS=8 Pixels=37x0 Alpha=YES"
)>, because it is size zero.'
    Any help would be appreciared...thanks!
    Rick

    Hi Sudarshan,
Thanks for the tips.  Neither worked for me...I successfully deleted the cache folder and the problem still occurs. (I even tried removing the entire Dreamweaver CS6 folder and the app still quit with the same error.)
Re the screen resolution...I've been using this particular iMac with CS6 without any problems since CS6 was released and have not made any adjustments to the screen resolution since it's install a while back. (Though after your message I did adjust the screen resolution to various settings to see if it would make a difference.)
    App stil quits.  Thanks though!

  • How do I rescue a older Website folder

I accidentally deleted a website out of my iWeb list. I was able to go out to Go Daddy and download the files but now can't figure out how to get them back into my list in iWeb so I can make some changes. Any help would be a life saver.

Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • How do I save a file in the Dreamweaver CC folder on my computer's hard drive?

    Hi,
I bought Dreamweaver CC.  I am trying to put a flash button in Dreamweaver that will like to another web site.
The problem I am running into is when I try to save the flash button into my computer's Dreamweaver folder,
I get a message saying "Contact your Administrator" because it won't save in that location.
I know that I need to save it in the Dreamweaver folder so it has the same path so the flash button with a link will work.
How do I save a file I want to put in a Dreamweaver page into my Dreamweaver CC folder?  I keep getting that
    contact your Administrator message.
    Please help,
    John

    Honestly, you don't.
DW is meant to be used with an individual "Local Root Folder" for each site you create with it. You should never have a reason to save into the DW program folders. Take a minute to go over creating a Site Definition in DW...

  • How do I load a website folder onto the ipad of offline use?

I have a website that I want to load onto the ipad for viewing without interntet.  I have the entire 1000+ page site and images on my laptop's desktop and I can view it there. How do I put it on the iPad and use it there?
    Thnaks for the help.

I have been doing  some research on this matter and thought I would share the result of my experiences - the overall aim is to have multi-page websites locally viewable on my iPad with navigation using normal hyperlinks
There are numerous suggestions on the web many of which diod not give me what I wanted - my solutions below work for me but may not suit everyone
    Case 1 - downloading website from a web-accessible location
I use the iPad app Offline Pages to capture websites - this app works well for this style of website - remember to set the download links to download all that you require - "Intelligent" is good
In theory you can use the app to download websites from the desktop but I haven't been able to get that working routinely
Case 2 - multi-page website on desktop that DOES NOT use relative addressing
You need to process all the links so that it contains well behaved relative addressing
For this I use the Mac app WebCopier which gives good results - this requires that the website is accessible via the web but that can be local to your desktop (see below)
Once I have a processed website then I proceed as below
Case 3 - multi-page website on desktop that DOES  use relative addressing
Firstly make sure that you have installed the Offline Pages Bookmarklet in your desktop browser (use the gearwheel settings icon top right in Offline Pages)
Secondly, turn on websharing in the desktop's System Prefs>Sharing panel - this gives me an address for the computer's website and a link "Open Computer Website Folder..." - use this link to navigate to this location on your desktp computer and now move the source (processed if required) website until it is in the computer's website folder structure
Thirdly, select the starting point of the source website (usually an index.html file) and click on the Save to Offline Pages Bookmarklet
Lastly, go to the iPad and wait until the inbox is updated (the inbox at top left shows a number and spinning wheel while it is downloading) - if only 1 page is downloaded by Offline Pages then display that page and click the Page Info icon (square with tick at top right) - change Download Links to "Intelligent" or whatever you require and then click  "Update Now" - this should then report the number of pages that are in the downloaded website.
    Enjoy !!

  • I need a program to create a website. Is there iweb? Thank you

I need a program to create a website. Is there iweb? Thank you Beautiful

iWeb has been discontinued by Apple for nearly 2 years.  You would be best served to try one of the apps that have been discussed in these forums as "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement".  Just search this forum for those two phrases to get a list of discussions.
One app that many have migrated to is EverWeb because is if very much like iWeb in it's user interface and operations.  It is much more advanced than iWeb ever was.  It has a 30 day demo version you can try before purchasing.
Most of the other apps discussed as alternatives or replacements also have demo versions available.
