Dreamweaver will not open on a PC

I read through the entire 209 posts concerning Dreamweaver not working previosly posted. Most were concerning Mac and looks like they have flagged that as possibly solved. The only solution for a PC was for an Acer PC. I am having the same issue but I am using an HP brand PC - dv7000 laptop.
I installed the developer package of CS5. All other application operate normally. Dreamweaver even worked the first time I opened it. Then it stopped. I get a splash screen and the folder view opens, then I get a screen that says Dreamweaver has stopped working and the program exits. I called the help desk. They had me uninstall CS5, create a new administrator account and reinstall CS5 under the new admin account.
Dreamweaver worked once on my original account and then stopped working again. I called the help desk again. After another hour on the phone they told me that my original account was corrupt, it was a Microsoft problem and the only solution was to either use the new administrator account or create a new account and migrate everything over. I really don't want to do either one and not real confident their "solution" will be a premant fix. Is anyone else having this issue and are there any suggestions?
I don't understand how they claim my account is corrupt when the only program that does not work is Dreamweaver. Seems to me that is their generic answer when they can't figure out what the real issue is (it is not in their manual).

Have you tried the corrupt Cache and the 8KB bug solutions?

  • Dreamweaver will not open. Have a project due Friday and have to finish. :(

When i was working late lastnight, I noticed that when I tried to insert a spry menu into a new page I created, that Dreamweaver kept shutting down on me. I would restart, try again and the same would happen. So I just shut down thinking I'm just tired and not getting it.
So I opened up this afternoon to work again and the program will not open. It looks like it is, then it just goes away.
    I did the following:
    restart
    restart again
    total shudown
system restore to three days ago
    reload software
    Still nothing. Any ideas?

  • Dreamweaver will not open

Hi, We are having a problem with Dreamweaver that when a standard user tries to open it, it immediately closes again with not error messages. We have the adobe creative suite CS5 (not CS5.5) and Photoshop or any other Adobe suite application will run. Dreamweaver will run when run by an admin, but not a standard user.
I have run all the updates for the Adobe suite, checked the application data for the users and permissions to the area where Dreamweaver runs from and uninstalled/reinstalled but these has not worked.
We are running Window XP SP3
I would appreciate any ideas or help anyone could give.
    Thank you.

Sure. Unfortunately, this is a user-to-user forum. So, unless someone else has experience of a similar problem, you're unlikely to get help here.
I know that there are instructions somewhere for setting up Dreamweaver in a college-type environment, but I can't locate them. You could try posting in the Download, Installing, Setting Up forum, which is monitored by Adobe staff. However, the forum administrator sometimes redirects posts straight back here if he thinks it's purely a Dreamweaver problem. I suggest that if you post there, you make it clear that it's a problem with a college environment rather than just Dreamweaver failing to open.

  • After Adobe Update on 1/25/2012 Dreamweaver will not open... I am dead in the water.

I updated CS5 Web Premium as recommended by Adobe on 1/25/2012. Everything works except Dreamweaver. I have no idea what to do...

After the update, did you close DW and restart your computer?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 not opening in Mountain Lion

My old iMac crashed.  I bought a new one with Mountain Lion and restored files from backup.
Dreamweaver will not open.  Gives error code 150:30.  Says my licensing has expired.
    Now what?

"Save As Adobe PDF" works fine in Snow Leopard.
Thanks for the link, but this is no help - I already have "Save As Adobe PDF" on the menu - the problem is when I click that it errors out...
I just think its sad that Adobe charges people $2000 and provides zero support for future updates; when I buy an iMac for half that amount of money or an iPhone I get operating system support and bug fix downloads to deal with the latest internet advances for years to come - but Adobe apparently takes your money and says sayonara! Is it really that hard to provide updates on $2000 worth of software for say 24 months??

  • Vista re-install, now Dreamweaver will not launch

I am a dummy so please do not give me solutions that are too complicated or at least use terminology that is for dummies.
Purchased CS3. Did not install it on any computer.
    Bought new computer.
    Installed CS3.
Think I registered, can't remember 'cause I am a dummy.
Two months later stupid Vista needed to be completely re-installed.
Installed CS3 (because my hard drive was wiped clean and Vista was re-installed).
Registered because it asks me to when I first opened it.
Dreamweaver will not open. (photoshop etc. does)
What do I need to do (besides getting a new brain)?

I have to say I am impressed.
A call this morning had me speaking to someone who was friendly without being condescending as some men (in my experience, I can't speak for anyone else) are when talking tech to women.
Unfortunately he could not solve the problem and asked if I could call back while he looked up the solution. I called back and again I was speaking with someone repsectful and friendly. Again the problem could not be solved, but he forwarded my call to a "Dreamweaver specialist."
This person, also friendly, helped me with an Acer patch and now the program opens. How thankful am I? Very. I was panicking inside at the thought of having to go back, even temporarily, to hand-coding html and css. Phew.
    Patch is here: http://www.egistec.com/oem-acer001/program-update.html.
    Thanks again Adobe.
PS I am not actually a dummy.

I have just upgraded to Firefox 3.6.12 and links clicked in an external source will not open in Firefox.
Firefox is set as my default program for web browsing. I have tried to open links from Outlook, Dreamweaver, Digsby, and other programs.

I have the same issue, opening links from external programs like Word or Thunderbird does not work. This used to work before the update to 3.6.12

When DW starts acting weird, the first thing to try is Deleting Corrupted Cache in DW
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
If that doesn't help, try Restore Preferences.  Note: your work space, custom settings & 3rd party extensions will be wiped out by this.  So make backups of anything you need to keep.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs4-cs5.html
If all else fails, use the CS Cleaner Tools below followed by a software re-install.

  • I Just downloaded Dreamweaver CC and it will not open the app., double click and nothing happens?

I Just downloaded Dreamweaver CC and it will not open the app., double click and nothing happens?

    What exactly are you double-clicking?
Once software is installed on your computer, you can usually launch by clicking the icon on your computer's desktop.  Or by looking inside Start > Programs (Win) or Applications Folder (Mac).

  • Dreamweaver CS5 will not open. It shows the splash screen and terminates with non admin login

Dreamweaver CS5 will not open. It shows the splash screen and terminates with non admin login but works fine with admin login.
    OS - WinXP Sp3
    Things I tried.
    1) Gave full rights on dreamweaver folder in program files.
    2) Disabled welcome screen
    3) Updated to Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4
    4) Reinstalled
    5) Formated PC
    But issue persists, please help.

Have you tried deleting or renaming the Dreamweaver configuration file?
    See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/494811
This can solve many problems and create one in that any snippets that are installed are lost, but you can get them back. Instead of deleting the config file, just name it config.old. When your system is working, just copy the snippets from the .old file to the new one.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 will not open

I just downloaded Adobe CS5 Design Premium and installed. Every application opens without problem except Dreamweaver which will not open at all. I tried installing again and that didn't work. I even tried removing all of my preference files, old Application Support files and even Library Application Support files. Uninstalled CS4 and CS5 and installed a fresh copy of CS5.
Dreamweaver CS5 will not open. It gets to just before the splash screen and stops. It's not hanging either, I can click the dock and quit the app without a force quit. It appears that the open sequence is missing something.

The "solution" you referred me to didn't fix my problem. Did it help anyone else with Dreamweaver CS5 and FileVault?
I'm sorry about that. It appears to have sorted out the problem for Jim Bloom, but as far as I know, he's not an Adobe employee (neither am I).
I'm NOT turning off FileVault to use Dreamweaver CS5, nor am I going to use it under a different user account. I'd rather continue using Dreamweaver CS 4 with FileVault turned on...
OK, if that's the best solution for you at the moment.
I just want them to work and I paid a hefty fee for this privilege. And, asking that this "restriction" to be documented by Adobe doesn't solve the problem. Nor does providing me a link to Apple support on FileVault that states:
"Because your home folder is encrypted, some tasks that normally access your home folder may be prevented."
    I know what FileVault is.
The bottom line is, if other applications can be made to work with it (even Microsoft's), and Adobe has been successful doing so in the past, they should be expected to do it now. I think Adobe just overlooked something before the program was released and expect that they will address this issue promptly.
Maybe Adobe will. I certainly hope so for everyone's benefit. But, unless you have been on Mars recently, you're probably aware of the fact that Apple isn't exactly cooperating with Adobe to get Adobe products to work on the Mac platform. It benefits neither company nor their customers.
If it's an Adobe oversight, it's inexcusable. If it's a case of Apple moving the goalposts without informing the developers of software intended to run on its OS, it's equally inexcusable.

  • .png files will not open Fireworks from Dreamweaver.

    Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help - I am a new to this forum, so
    please be gentle!
I am running the new Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard on a
new 17" MacBook Pro with 2Gb memory.
I have hit an odd snag when I am in Dreamweaver working on my
    and other web-sites.
Fireworks will not open when I click on .png files which were
    created in Fireworks ..
    I get the following message:
    "Unable to launch
    Macintosh HD:Applications:Macromedia Fireworks
    MX 2004:Fireworks MX 2004.
Please be sure that this application exists and that
there is enough memory to run it".
I can open .gif files created in Fireworks - with no problems
    at all.
There is plenty of memory - even with Fireworks open I get
    the same warning ..!!
I have never had this problem before when using Studio MX
2004 on my previous 15" MacBook. I have transferrred all my sites
to the new MacBook Pro - the paths are exactly the same within each
site - nothing has changed. My work flow is the same. All the sites
function normally but for this annoying problem - has anyone else
experienced it? The Adobe help center seemed rather baffled - or
the techie I spoke to did ..!!
    Have I missed something here?
Or am I in the wrong forum .. I hope not!
    Thanks in advance,

into your preferences, select file types/editors, and make sure
it's pointed to the right place.
i did that on mine but it still won't work for me. but i get
around it by just right clicking and choosing "open with" and the
selecting Fireworks. it's kind of a pain in the butt, so i'm
interested to see if anyone else has any ideas.
    Hi n h c,
    Thanks for your prompt reply!
I did as you suggested and went into preferences and checked
file types/editors. Low and behold .png files were selected to open
with Fireworks MX 2004 by default - Fireworks MX 2004 is NOT on my
MacBook ... no wonder the .png files would not open! Meanwhile .gif
files were selected to open with Adobe Fireworks CS3 (Primary)
I played around with the + and - buttons, selected the
correct application and everything now seems to be OK.
How interesting the techie at Adobe didn't think to tell me
of this simple fix ...mmnn! On the other hand, how stupid of me not
to check preferences! Thanks again n h c - you are a gem!
