Dreamweaver won't connect to my FTP
So yeah. Whenever I try to connect to the FTP Dreamweaver
comes up with the message:
"The connection to the remote host has been lost. Click
refresh to connect."
shortly followed by:
"Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote server time. The
select newer and synchronize commands will not be
available."
Such problems are almost always related to your local
firewall.

Dreamweaver won't connect to FTP
I have contacted my FTP provider for the hosting info and it keeps telling me an ftp error occured. I even tried disabling my firewall and it is still not working properly.
Are you certain your log-in credentials are correct?
Can you connect to your server from another computer or a different internet connection?

Adobe Dreamweaver won't Connect or allow me to "Get" files?
I have used Dreamweaver before, so I know kinda what I'm doing. However, I just started using the newest version of Dreamweaver... so I'm a little back to square one.
I think the problem is how I have my FTP set up. Which boxes should be checked if I want to be able to get AND put files to my website? (Passive FTP, etc.) It only lets me change my website from the remote file and then I have to close out of the site I have up so that it puts it on its own when it is saving. Does that make sense? Help, this is a pain! It won't allow me to upload new pictures to my server either!Maybe this tech note will help:

Mac won't connect to ftp server for iweb
my mac won't connect to the ftp server. i have been
trying to publish a site on iwebWell, do you actually have a web host server to be able to connect to in the first place. You need this before you can publish a website from iWeb in that way.
Also, you don't publish a site on iWeb. You use iWeb to design your website and then publish from iWeb to your web host/server.
What version of iWeb are you using?
More info generally would be useful. -
Dreamweaver ftp won't connect to host for one one site
HI,

can create NEW connections too, but not to this one site that I can
connect to with everything else, but dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver WebDav to IIS7.5 won't Connect
I manage multiple sites on one server with CS5. Last month I successfully connected to one of those sites with WebDAV (after spending hours figuring out that an SSL cert was needed and that Basic Authentication was required)
Now I tried to set up another existing site on the same server for WebDav. (after verifying that the SSL worked and that Basic Auth was in place) But I get the dreaded "An HTTP error occurred/ Dreamweaver cannot make a connection to host. Access denied."
Why does it work on one site but not another? It can't be user and/or password because it's the same server. And yes, I verified twice that the WebDAV authoring rules matched from the site that does work.

DW8 won't connect to server in Vista
Hi all,
Tearing my hair out trying to get my DW8 suite to run on my
new laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. Used it for 3 years
on an XP machine with no problems.
It won't connect to remote server. Those buttons are greyed
out. Based on the messages I've read here, I've tried:
1) Run as Administrator
2) Compatibility with XP
3) Excluded it from Firewall
4) Turned off Firewall
5) Uninstalled and re-installed.
Am at my wits end and hope you can help. Thanks!

Glad you sussed it out (subsequent follow up), put your hair
back in!
Don't forget to install the 8.02 patch if your install didn't
include
it.

Most common problem I've seen in here is that 8.0 can forget
your FTP
login criteria. The patch cured that, I think.

After about 5 minutes, Dreamweaver can't connect
While using Dreamweaver, if I don't upload a file to my site and let about 5 minutes pass, it suddenly becomes unable to upload anymore.
I get a 'progress' dialog showing that it's trying or waiting to connect to my ftp site again.
I then have to close Dreamweaver, open it again, and suddenly it's fine... until I wait about five minutes. And it starts all over again.
This only happens at my machine at home.
I work on the same sites here and at work, and connect to the same sites.
But this does not happen at work. So I don't think it's a server problem.
I can't help but think there's some obscure setting in preferences or something causing the problem.
Can anyone help?Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
However, ou may have a hardware problem like a dead battery and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store may be in order. -
Dreamweaver suddenly stopped connecting to website, fine one day then cannot connect the next. I can connect using CUTE FTP any suggestions what has stopped Dreamweaver from connecting?
Have you tried clearing DW's program cache yet? That's usually my first step if something "just started happening"...
Deleting a corrupted cache file
Server updates can cause DW to need a setting change. Have you already tried toggling Use Passive FTP in your site settings yet?
Has anything changed on your local network, like an update to a firewall?
If you are connected via wireless router, a low likelihood but possible thing to test would be a wireless router problem. Try connecting the computer directly to your modem, bypassing the wireless router (if you aren't using an all in one modem/router setup) to see if that makes any difference. -
Trying to connect to my ftp from work.
I'm guessing that the number that shows on the easylink advisor under the computer would be that computer's ip address. When I've tried connecting, it won't connect and I followed the port forwarding instructions so I'm at a loss here??
I can think of the following possibilities:
- Outgoing FTP traffic from your workplace is not allowed
- Incoming FTP traffic to your home network is not allowed (your ISP prohibits this traffic)
- Packets are getting dropped at the firewall (either on the broadband modem or software firewall on the FTP server itself) -
HELP!!! Dreamweaver could not connect you to the remote server"
Hi all,
I have been struck by what seems a common problem with
Dreamweaver/Contribute.
I get this message when trying to “Enable Contribute
compatibility” in Dreamweaver:
“Dreamweaver could not connect you to the remote
server. You cannot perform Contribute administration tasks without
a connection to a remote server. Please fix the remote connection
before continuing.”
I have read that DW will try to write and delete a file to
confirm the connection… When I look at the FTP log of DW, it
confirms that the Temp file has been written and deleted.
So, it has in fact connected to the remote server...!
Things I have done to try to eliminate errors includes:
• Ensure Contribute is not open on the PC.
• Contacted my ISP to ensure that “/” is
the “Host directory”
• Modified the URL in each of the tabs listed below
Including the Base web address
Below are the settings I have selected in the Site definition
window:
Local info:
Local root folder: v\website\
Links relative to Document:
Http address:
http://www.website.com
Remote Info:
Access FTP
FTP Host www.website.com
Host directory /
Contribute:
Rollback enabled: Currently off
CPS enable Currently off
Site URL:
http://www.website.com
I have spoken to my ISP: www.webcentral.com.au
• They have confirmed that Contribute is used on their
products by other users.
• They also stated that they sell Sharepoint as their
CMS option
What other things can I try to eliminate this problem?Hi,
Can you please try adding the DNS in your machine where DW
is running?
Steps to add:
1) In the Network Connections, right click Local Area
Connection.
2) Select Properties.
3) Select Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) and click Properties
button.
4) Select the radio button Use the following DNS server
addresses and provide your preferred DNS and Alternate DNS server
addresses.
5) Click Advanced button and select DNS tab in the Advanced
PCT/IP setting dialog.
6) Select the radio button "Append these DNS suffixes (in
Order)" and add the values and also add DNS suffix for this
connection.
7) Click ok and close all the dialogs.
Hope this helps. -

I was responding to Shallici.
Screen shots would have to be posted on a Web hosting service if you have one set up.
Sounds like it's still not working??
Try a re-setup and re-start. Shut it all down and re-connect from scratch.
It's been a while since I tinkered on a Panasonic, bit I recall a menu setting that controls the DV in/out.
Check the camera menu that it's set up to pass through correctly.
Sometimes you even need to have a tape in the camera!!

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't connect to my wireless router
This is bizarre. I have had my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for about 6 months. It has generally worked fine, and we have used it wirelessly only. But now it refuses to connect to the router. It can FIND the router, and it can find other networks in the area, but it won't connect to the router. I ran the Wireless Network Test, and the results say:
Wireless On - Pass // Wireless Working - Pass //
Network Name (SSID) found - Pass // Wireless Networks Detected - 9
Printer Settings Consistent with Wireless Router Settings - Pass / No Filtering - FAIL //
So it recommends solution as follows: "1 If MAC Address filtering is enabled, and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the Mac address of your printer to the list of permitted devices for your router before continuing."
Except, guess what, I don't have MAC Address filtering enabled. I wouldn't know how to do that, much less check for it.
Also, before today, this was never a problem. HELP!
Thanks....
If you are interested, here's more detail and background.
Before today, the only problem we have had is that frequently our Apple laptop (OS X 10.6) has trouble connecting to the printer. This has been odd because the printer is connected to the network, and so is the laptop, but the laptop can't find the printer - it thinks the printer is "offline" (even though it's not). Usually, if I wait a while, it will find the printer, and it will resolve itself work fine. If not, we sometimes have found that it can fix itself if you restart the laptop -- restarting the printer does not make a difference. In fact, I did exactly that today, and it resolved itself. And I printed. Fine, right?
But then I wanted to do more printing, and the problem of the laptop not finding the printer came up again, so I decided to really "get to the bottom of this." I don't remember exactly what I did, but somehow I was persuaded by the online help, that the correct solution would be to go into my System Preferences / Print and Fax, and click on the "-", which de-installs the printer, with the idea of re-installing the printer. But then when I tried to re-install the printer, it could not find the printer. Ugh! Wierdly, it found an 8600 Scanner, but not an 8600 printers. After installing and de-installing the 8600 scanner a few times, I eventually deinstalled everything, and I decided to start from scratch. I got my HP disk, and installed all the software again from the beginning (even though it was already there), and then it looked for my printer, but couldn't find it. So then I got a USB cord, and plugged that in.
So, now I have a situation where I do have a working printer via the USB cord, but no wireless connection at all. In particular, since the Office Jet Pro 8600 won't connect to the router, I don't know what else to do. My Apple MacBook pro is 2 feet away from the printer, and it is connected to the router just fine (as is my blackberry), and I have never before had a problem connecting to the wireless router by the printer.
Any suggestions? There are two things that can trip the mac filtering test to fail: actual MAC address filtering setup (sounds like this is not the case) and using wireless channel 6 or automatic for wireless channel in the wireless network settings (in the router). Since it does show failed for MAC filtering and you do not use this option, try changing the wireless channel in the router to 1 or 11. Those two channels provide the best compatibility with printers due to less interference. Almost everything defaults to auto or 6 for the channel and this causes a lot of interference. This change should not affect anything at all. To do this, you may need to contact the router manufacturer as the process differs from router to router.
What brand and model is the router?
Has anything in the network settings changed at all?
What version is the Mac OS X? There may be additional steps to take as it sounds like there are two separate issues involved and this could be revisited later.

HI,
The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.
