Dreamweaver won't preview swf in firefox

So I created a simple banner that sits at the top of my page in Flash CS3, exported it as a SWF and then went into Dreamweaver (Also CS3) and went Insert>Media>Shockwave, and embedded the swf file in to a a set of divs.
When I preview in firefox, there is a blank space where the swf should be, and in Internet explorer there is simply a white box. I'm sure there's a simple enough solution, but unfortunately i'm not qualified enough to figure it out myself. If it helps, I'm running Flash player 10, on XP.
Also; the attributes of the div in css are 1024px wide, 255px long and the margin in set to auto. The swf file is 800x255, so I don't think it's an issue with the size!
Thanks, Dan

Hi
Yes you can create a div within a div to do this, just remember that the flash swf will 'rise to the top' of the image place behind it, (should not be a problem in this case as that is what you wish).

  • Preview mode Dreamweaver CS3/CS4 not compatible with Firefox 3.6.8

I found a post about this issue, which was marked 'solved', but it isn't! To use Firebug, I had to upgrade Firefox and since I did, I can't use the 'preview' function in Dreamweaver (It works only once, when Firefox is closed, but I don't like to close and re-open Firefox every time I want to preview a page). Downgrading is not an option, as I can't use Firebug and I really not think Adobe has to solve a problem caused by Firebox, as suggested in the previous post.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

There is a fix available for Dreamweaver, so it works in Firefox 3.6+ versions:
    http://solutions.marketingmedley.com/
There is a $5.00 fee for that Dreamweaver fix. That website and the fix are not associated with Mozilla in any manner. Support for that fix is provided by that that website via email.

  • Migrated to new comp, now Air Won't Preview from Dreamweaver

    Hi all,
I'm on a mac and have migrated over to a new computer. Air has decided it won't preview from dreamweaver.
I'm 99% sure this is due to a path issue /usrname vs /newusrname with dreamweaver exten finding the ADL or whatever the exten calls to preivew, but I'm not sure how to change it.
    Any ideas?

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "41." Please post it in a reply.

  • Animations won't preview in Firefox

Animations won't preview in Firefox but work fine in Chrome and IE.
I have little or no developer experience so please don't ask me about
servers or technical stuff. I like edge and it's usability as I am very familiar
with the Adobe products interface but it's no good to me if my work falls
down because I can't get it to work in Firefox.

OK...I have created a temporary muse file and imported my edge animation,
The name of the temporary site is "rohtemp.businesscatalyst.com"
Please have a look at it in Chrome, Firefox and IE.
The interesting thing is this. The animation works in both chrome and Internet explorer, however,
the correct animation is the one in chrome. You will see there are a few wheels rotating with a green color
moving from one to the other. The wheels have a hidden linetype, but it changes to dots in chrome.
Having seen this, it leads me to think that the animation is also working fine in firefox. What is happening
is that the hidden line has become solid which gives the impression that the wheels aren't rotating.
The color green is moving from wheel to wheel as it should.
So, to conclude, what we have is actually a linetype issue/problem and not an animation problem.
The various browsers are inserting whatever linetype is most compatible for it's own situation.
Any ideas as to how to get around this one ?

With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here).  Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here.  If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here.  If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed.  I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

  • Preview in browser - Firefox / File not found

    Specs:
    OS X 10.4.7
    Dreamweaver 8.0.2
    Firefox 1.5.0.1
I (and my whole office) am having a major problem. We all
work directly from files on our osx server. When working in
Dreamweaver and trying to "Preview in browser" with Firefox 1.5 we
get a "File not found" error. The problem seems to be stemming from
the path lacking the "Volumes" part of the directory.
    For example:
When I preview in Safari the path is shown as:
    file:///Volumes/Server_HD/Website_Folder/index.html (this
    works)
But on Firefox or Mozilla I get:
    file:///Server_HD/Website_Folder/index.html (this does not
    work)
This problem did not occur in previous versions of Firefox.
Due do this problem, I have virtually eliminated Firefox as part of
my workflow in favor of Safari. I would love to return to Firefox
    can anybody please help me!?

Can you try again please, although not in a narrative? Just
    go to the
ADVANCED tab on the Site Definition panel, and list the
    contents of the
fields you see for Local, Remote, and Testing Categories (no
    need for the
    login info).

  • Won't my swf become unbearably huge?

    var chicken: timeline based navigation = frame labels;
    var egg: actionscript = dynamically loaded buttons;
First of all Props to Chris Georgenes, and Dan Mode for
answering a question I had before. It made things embarrassingly
easy. Chris I bought the book.
Okay hopefully I can explain this question clearly enough as
to avoid exposing myself as the red-faced flash newbie that I am
Say I’m setting up a website and I have completed the
homepage. The navigation bar uses movieclips for buttons. What I
want to do is have the whole page animate each time someone clicks
a button. (meaning the buttons reposition, the main info window
does a cool fade then dynamically loads some text). Then returning
    to normal (hm) when appropriate.
The first example I can find is this
    http://www.guccigroup.com/
(although not the best example its' hmpage transitions similar to
    how I want)
I am reluctant to make separate swf’s because I want to
avoid the look of an html site loading a new page each time a
button is clicked. However if I just use frame labels won’t
my swf become unbearably huge? Can I use a “load vars
object” on the frame labels to load the text files?
or………should I go through the pain of
writing the script for each button (movieclip) up, over, and
visited states. And then link the swf’s so they have a smooth
transition. In some way that it appears you have never left the
    homepage?
I realize there are about a million answers to this question
what I’m looking for is a general theory?
Thus far all the tutorials I have found are extremely vague
when it comes to the point of actually putting all the elements of
    a webpage together

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Can't read or write some files, internet is failing, youtube won't load, software I tried to install was in Slovenian, not dutch or english like in my systempreferences settings, pictures and files won't preview with spacebar, etc. Malware?

    Specs:
    iMac 10.8.5
    3,4 GHz Intel Core i7
    32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Can't read or write some files, internet is failing, youtube won't load, security software I tried to install was in Slovenian, not dutch or english like in my systempreferences settings, pictures and files won't preview with spacebar and are randomly corrupted, when I entered something in the Youtube searchbar (when it was still working) it send me to a site with sexadds.
I tried restart my iMac and when I was logged back in, my dock preferences were reset.
Also tried to download some security software to check my Mac for malware, but when I did, I tried several, I got a notification that said something like 'dumpfiles (don't know if this is the right translation...) damaged'.
I'm taking screenshots from all the weird notifications I get and even three quarters off the screenshots I took in the last three hours are already unreadable.
It started this morning when I tried opening a Premiere Pro file on which I worked the night before.
When I tried opening it, it said the file was damaged and could not be openend.
I tried opening it with AE or importing the file in a new project but nothing helped.
When I tried looking for autosaves, this is the really weird part, there were none.
Even though there are autosaves from my other projects, this one was completely gone.
It looked like the day before never happened on my computer.
Also when I openend Premiere all the recent projects had been wiped.
So at first I thought it was a Premiere Pro failure.
But than, later on the day, I tried loading some RAW files from my compact flash card.
This is where I would get an error (error -36) which said some data cannot be read or written.
I tried importing the files with a view different technics, from dragging to importing via Lightroom and I succeeded with Image Browser.
But when I tried moving the files to an other folder the same error occurred.
While dealing with this issue I wanted to put on some soothing music on youtube.
This is when the next weird thing occurred: youtube wasn't completely loading in Chrome. I refreshed a view times, checked the internet connection and still no difference.
When I tried in Safari it did work but when I clicked enter on the searchbar in Youtube, a page with sexadds appeared (I didn't install AdBlock in Safari...).
I read about this 'phishing' where you are redirected to a site were a possible malware installment can take place...
I don't know if it's connected to any of the problems I've been having but I just never experienced this on a mac, I have been a Mac user for 10 years now.
On top of it all, internet started working worse and worse and now it's not even working at all. I had to fill in the password over and over, normally it remembers.
Just like my system preferences, all the preferences I had with Chrome where also reset.
Also somewhere in between I got this notification: Mac OS X must restore library to run programs. Type your password to allow.
To me this is all very weird and suspicious. I have clearly no idea what's going on. Could this be another sort of trojan horse or malware?
Some background info which could be helpful for solving this mystery:
two months ago the one year old Fusion Drive in my iMac just broke out of nowhere.
I got it replaced by a qualified apple repair store.
When I got my computer back, all the files where gone.
I got on the internet without AdBlock installed yet.
A game or whatever it was, can't clearly remember, got installed by accident.
    I deleted it immediately.
Only two weeks later, I couldn't log in to my account. It didn't recognize my password and username.
So I brought my mac back to the store.
Here the repair guy said it was a minor thing and he just needed to reconnect my account. He also mentioned he found a downloaded game name Sparta and it probably had something to do with the error.
I asked him; could it be a virus? He replied no way.
I don't know why I couldn't be a virus, just because it's a mac doesn't mean it cannot be done.
So today I tried installing anti virus software (such as avast- was in a weird language looked like slovenian, clamxav - was in slovenian) but I couldn't install them.
PLEASE help me! I don't know what to do anymore, I work fulltime and I need my computer, I have no time to bring it in for repair, are there other perhaps easier ways?
Could this be the work of a virus or a malware? Or is it a disk permissions issue?

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

  • Previewing SWFs in Bridge

No matter what access I give the Flash security settings, I get the warning window whenever I preview SWFs in Bridge. Is there a way around that?
    Thanks!
    ~TPS

    Hi Dana,
Which settings are you considering and what are the performance issues?
You can optimize for certain workflows that will adjust processor intensive work, such as only generating large previews when displayed. If you're strictly talking about video card accelerated features, I think it's more a matter of On or Off as opposed to performance tuning. I just did a quick look and with video card acceleration enabled, in Full Screen Preview you can pan the image at magnifications much smoother.

    Hi there,
I am having a problem where i am trying to get a swf file to loop. I read on another thread that there is a bug in dreamweaver and although it automatically selects the loop button in the property inspector it does not add the code. But when i correct the code it still doesn't work! here is the code i am using:

I have also read that it could be because the code for the .fla file has a <stop/> value at the end instead of the code to make it loop. I made the swf file from an mp4 in flash so ive never had the original .fla file. I have tried using a swf decompiler to get the fla file but it doesnt seem to have worked but this is a side issue...
I really just want to figure out how to get dreamweaver to loop my swf file.
Can someone please help me, ive spent all day trying to solve this!
    thanks,
    Matt

    First welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately without being able to edit the stop() function out of the fla file, your swf will not loop.
You could use the html5 video element for your mp4 and if you have the original video file convert it to other formats for use in the html5 video, and then use the swf file as the fall back, this would allow your video to loop in those browsers that support this.
There are also 3rd party players available that will allow the swf to loop without editing but these will only work on windows.

    Hi,
I just imported a new video from my camera, and it won't preview it in the viewer. the thumbnails will "play", but noting in the viewer. I just tried opening an older project, and they work fine.
Is there a way to force imovie to rebuild the previews of selected clips?
    Thanks,

  • Problem in dreamweaver - image file and swf file.

    Hi friends.....nice to be here.
Ahnm, lets start from the beginning! J I am new here and my english isnt so good, but i´ll try to explain what was happening with my webpage using Dreamweaver CS3 and a swf file…..Im sure that for most of you it’s a basic problem with a basic solution, but I didn’t find one…..and I´m new to CS3 too ! J
I´m creating a simply webpage using 2 frames: Top frame and main frame, but my problem was in top frame.
I created an image (like a banner) to fill this frame, not background, an image with name company, phone number etc…..My intention was to put some buttons (using flash) in this image……..but NOT in all image…, so I split the image in two….half jpeg file, half a swf file…….joining this images on dreamweaver later…..
So, on dreamweaver works great……there everthing works perfect…..but on I.E, an BORDER appears, separating the two images
Well…..better than words, here is the images:

Guys, I´m sure that was an easy solution………. I hope someone can help me…

    1) You don't need frames.  Why Frames are bad for you and your site visitors.

    2) Don't use Flash for navigation.  Many people can't use Flash.  What will they do?
    3) Learn HTML and CSS code first.  This will make DW much easier to learn.
